All those mats you gathered? You’re choosing to use them and not sell them. You are effectively spending money. It will cost you less than someone insta-buying them, but it’s still costing you plenty.
It’s not costing me a thing to play and to have fun. If I wasn’t having fun I wouldn’t play but I do play every day.
As for my name? I got that name years ago when I would get paid to be a pirate all up and down the coast of FL, some for various festivals and some corporate parties. Got paid a lot of money to make people smile and laugh so I figured I could still use the name. If there is a rule against me using my char name then please point it out.
I paid for the Ultimate version and have been having a blast. Been worth it for me and at least 6 others that I know.

I am just playing and getting the xp to up the masteries. Not worried about getting them yesterday as I am having fun just playing. No need for me to “beat the game” because then I would be “bored with nothing to do”.

This has been answered so many times as it is now ridiculous to even think about bringing up something that was just a “this is what we would like” and as things change and grow things get cut and added.
As for the grinding …… I have been playing since head-start/beta and I have yet to grind. Not once have I grinded and I have played just about every day. I am not only doing the old Bolt but also every other new legendary weapon in the game at the moment. I am collecting as I go and not worrying about how fast I get them done. For me it is not a contest to see how fast I get them done. I am just letting the pieces come when they come. Having too much fun just playing to think about “oh crap I don’t have this legendary yet”I call bs, you can’t play this game without grinding for something, anyone who claims otherwise has a faulty definition of a grind.
You can call BS all you want but you are not me, you are not with me when I play. You have no clue how often I play or when I play or what I do when I play. I will just tell you again that I do NOT grind. I find it dumb to do that as the end result is something that I do not need right now as it’s just a game. A game that I play to relax and to try to forget the pain that I am in.
I have played games online since the old BBS days, I have never grinded in any game I have played.
I’m not grinding, never have in 3 years. I am acquiring things just by playing with out worrying about being first in getting it. I am not in a race.
Only ANet knows how many are playing in which maps or mode of the game. I see lots playing in what ever map I go to. Even in WvW I see lots of people playing. I am enjoying all of the game, yes even Heart of Thorns. I just play to have fun and if I wasn’t having fun I wouldn’t play it and would just find a new game but I am having fun and nothing so far is making me want to stop playing.
You may think less are playing but only ANet knows for sure.
I am just playing where ever and on which ever map I feel like at the time and making gold. Not doing anything specific really just harvesting everything, killing everything and doing every event that pops up. Doing nothing new for me, just having fun and making lots more gold than I can spend.

I have played since the beta and head start over 3 years ago, pretty much every day for an average of about 2 hours a day. At no time have I grinded anything in this game. Just playing in core and HoT and having loads of fun with no grinding. Got loads of gold and stuff from just playing where I feel like playing. Doing what I feel like doing and changing my mind when I feel like it. No grinding at all. Oh wait did I mention I have not grinded at all? I just play and have a blast doing it. I am in the middle of doing all the new collections for the legendries’ and not even trying to do them, the parts just come from playing. I am also in process of doing Mawdry and Bolt from the old way of legendries’. I don’t care when I get them done as they are for me and no one else.
I am having loads of fun with HoT and core Tyria. I do not regret my spending the money for the ultimate version of the expansion. I know that there are at least 8 others that came back to the game and most of those also bought the ultimate version and none are regretting it at all. They play pretty much every day in both HoT and core areas.
I have not reached the end of core nor HoT, I am just playing and having fun and doing whatever pops up.
I have never grinded in the game and never will. I am just playing and gathering everything I need without trying.
If you quit before because you were bored I am not sure if you will not be bored with any part of the game, new or otherwise.

For LS2 if you logged in when it first went live, usually 2 weeks, then it was free. And that’s all you had to do was log in onto a char and you got it free. Did not have to do anything else, just log in and it was free.
Oh wait … did I mention that it was FREE if you just logged in?
That should be the way they will do LS3. I have seen nothing to say they will do it any different.
Dungeon’s are not ‘nerfed’ they just fixed the amount of gold gotten from finishing to put it inline with everything else. Besides they just opened up the 10 man dungeon / raid.
What gold sink are you talking about? I am making the same amount of gold if not more since the expansion hit.
I am having loads of fun both in core and in HoT maps, doing events and stuff. Even leveling a new char and doing map completion in both core and HoT.
Specialization’s are a different way to play the same char. No need to keep it that way and no need to not change to whatever when you need to for what the content is at the time.
No it is not pay to win, never has been.
Been playing since headstart / beta every day. Never grinded, never felt there was nothing for me to do. I just play and have fun. I keep making gold, so much that I don’t know what to do with it all. I just sent 25g to the youngest son to help him out with something. Bought all the legendary stuff so that I am collecting all those while just playing. Went down to just under 200g with everything I did and within less than a week I am back to almost 300g without trying.
You would never have a computer program if you wanted all bugs fixed before being sent out. There is no program / game / etc that is completely bug free and even if you think it is then you are wrong as there is someone else that has found a bug with whatever program you think is free of those pesky things.
If you really want bug free computer programs / games then just get rid of your computer as it’s not gonna happen.
I have bought Gems. I have gotten cosmetics from the Gem store. What I have NEVER done in 3 yrs of playing is exchange gems for gold on the other hand neither have I exchanged gold for gems. I just made almost 100g in about 4 days and that’s without trying and no SW this time. Just playing the game.
You guys need a serious time out to go do something else for a few days besides trying to incite a riot (again) over ANet and what ever you imagine is wrong.
We have a very busy month coming up with people still trying to finish the first part of the raid and Wintersday. I know even thou I am enjoying HoT, I will be busy playing around with Wintersday. After Halloween, Wintersday is one that I don’t miss. So I doubt very much that they will be bringing out Living Season 3 until after the new year.
Clothes are optional. Not needed in the game to play. They have only done clothes in the Gem Store for years and they will continue to be there.
You expect an MMO to NOT change? You haven’t played many MMO’s if you expect it stay the same.

Now that is your opinion and yours alone. Mine is “It changed fine and I am enjoying it A LOT!!” Some may agree with you and some may agree with me and others may have other opinions. But they are all still just personal opinion’s. Only ANet has the numbers on how many are playing in what area’s of the game, how many bought the expansion and how many were F2P and then bought the game. Only they know and everyone else is just making conjectures on their own personal opinions.
I am still enjoying the core game and I am enjoying HoT quite a lot. So yes I would pre-purchase the next expansion. The whole franchise has been a blast. Not sure which version of the expansion I would get since no one knows yet what will be in them but I do know that I paid the $100 for the ultimate for this one and have been satisfied with it.
Doc says no work for me so I could spend all day gaming but that is not something that I can do. That being said GW2 is pretty much the only game I do play when I do sit to play games. Not only do I play but my husband, both boys and now the granddaughter plays GW2. With as busy as my and my husbands life is we really only have time for one game and for years it’s been the GW world. For a little while we had added Wizard101 to also play with our granddaughter till she got used to more complicated keyboard stuff and learned how to read better.
Grind? What is this grind you and others speak of? Ohhhhh —-- you wanted a legendary to be easy? It took almost 3 yrs before I had a precursor drop for the one I am working on now. I did not spend my gold or RL money just to play the mystic toilet to try for one. It’s a legendary which to me means it will take time and lots of it since I will not grind. I will just let it happen. Since I had sold lots of stuff on the TP for gold, no I was not playing it, just selling there for more than at merchants, I had lots of gold to get the ability to try for all at once while just playing all over the core and HoT areas.

Autocorrect is killing me
Turn off autocorrect then. I do that with every new phone I get. Autocorrect is horrible. Too many words it just does not know and I am not taking the time out to try to “teach” it very common words.
Give it time. Soon someone will figure out how to do the 10 man dungeon (aka raid) with only Thief or Warrior or (just insert profession here).
Will it fix all the gameplay bugs that are complained vastly by the players or it will just only contain raid content?
Should we start writing bad reviews on HOT if it doesn’t contain any bugs fixing?
Reviews from players were already being posted 12 hours BEFORE Hot went live. Not sure how they complained about what they complained about when it wasn’t even live yet but they already had very large and long complaints ready to post BEFORE it went live. So I doubt we will have to wait long.
Ummm No just no. Horrible idea. I will give what I want to give and not a copper more. I already put quite a bit into a guild bank for when we do get a guild hall just to be ready. I will not have stuff taken out just because someone wants people to give more.

I was afraid that this is the case. Sad. I paid $100 for this, and now I just want it gone. But even that is out of reach.
I also paid $100 for the Ultimate. So did my husband and both our boys (ages 28 and 30) and none of us are regretting the purchase. If we didn’t like it we would all just move onto a game we do like. This is an MMO, they change over time to stay “fresh and new” there is no way they can be static and defiantly no way they can have lots and lots of different versions running the same game for those that want this but not that but then give me this.

Factions and Nightfall are NOT an expansions. They are games unto themselves. Eye of the North was the only expansion in GW1.
There’s also a strange (and sad) lack of fish/seafood recipes, and the ability to actually go fishing (rod and reel, not underwater “spearfishing”) for cooking mats, and just for the fun/relaxation of it. It really hurts my heart that there’s no fishing in this game. But that’s a topic for another thread… :P
I remember reading a dev post about that. They said at one point they were/are thinking of adding fishing but had not yet and when the fishing is added they said they have some of the recipes for cooking with fish all ready to go. Not sure where that post is now or if it was on a twitch stream but if I remember right it was Colin that said it.
I am amassing the mats for Mawdry II, the ‘old’ version of Bolt since I had Zap drop, and every other ‘new’ version of the legendaries.
I went ahead and started all the new ones so that I could work on them as I am playing. Some of them take the same things from kills so since they dropped for one I could just then take the same thing over to the burner in another area and then get it for that one too. I always harvest everything anyway so as long as it takes me to get things I doubt very seriously I will spend gold on the TP since I have not done that for anything else yet.
So yes people can make them with spending “mounds” of gold. They are for me to have and play with and not for anyone else anyway.

I have never understood the need by some people to pay $50 to $150 for a game and then on top of that to pay $10 to $20 a month just to play the game they just spent $50 to $150 on.
Wow … still haven’t finished any stories – PS, LS2 or HoT. I am just having fun in the world and playing around —- every day. Never have rushed a game and I doubt I will start now just to say “I finished it all in one day!!”
It took me and the youngest son 4 years to get to the end of the story for Daggerfall … too much stuff to worry about getting to the end I guess.
Events give the most XP but really pretty much everything in this game gives XP – exploring, rezzing, mining/harvesting, killing mobs, dailies, etc.
I don’t see a problem with it. There is a “step” with the level up being back a few feet. The camera is set off center so it looks weird but its not when you take into account the way the building was built.
I am surprised no offered up the option of the LFG. I know someone else said to take a friend but if you have none available at the time you want to do then try the LFG.
Every MMO does a time gate / level gate / equipment gate, etc.
Harvest from nodes, kill things, do events, rez people that are down, do HP, do MP, do Vistas …. pretty much everything gives you xp in this game so pretty much everything will level you up. Thou events are worth more than anything else.
Really? You can’t make / find gold in this game? I am just playing and the gold is coming in faster than I can spend it. Nothing in particular … no dungeon running, no SW chest running, no world bosses train …. just playing doing whatever I feel like.
Why would I not play around in HoT? I paid for it, I enjoy it, I am progressing my char in it. What I do not do is stay in there 24/7. I do lots of different parts in the game. I don’t let myself get “bored” or feel like I am “grinding” or anything like that. I move onto a different section when I feel like it
Why reset them when you can just get a few more MP and fill out the bars of the ones you want? It’s not that hard as there are more MP then there are masteries at the moment.
