I don’t pay subscriptions to play games that I already payed $50 to $100 for so I say no to subscriptions, it’s one of the things I really like about GW and GW2 …. no subscriptions.

It’s been going on for years, even in GW1.

I played Travian for awhile (real time war game) a few years ago (before they changed it) while waiting for GW2 to come out. It was not unheard of for guilds to have people make a throw away account just to get in the enemies section of map to report on them. It was not unheard of spy’s on all sides to be put into action. Honestly that is what you do in a war situation. Not sure why this a surprise to some on here.

I keep changing whenever I think about to something that seems weird like Pumpkin Carver or Guild Warrior or whatever fits my funny bone at the time.

Look over again what you wrote and others that are complaining about the software …… complaining about it not being perfect and complete so I asked the question.

This has been happening with software and software companies from the first day there was software for the masses. Years and years and years of this happening. Every software company has this happen. Are you going to stop having anything to do with computers and software?

I don’t do this BUT there are those (and quite a few actually) that buy different gathering tools that match the characters they make. Quite a few have multiple sets of them. Me? I have just one set that I either use the slots for or I use the bank to transfer them.

Wrong … you can level all on one char, you just can only have up to 4 showing at one time. If you need to have another available just take to the trainer to have it activated again. Just a few silver to change to which ever one you want available.

I play only on a laptop so does my other half. We’ve only played on laptops for several years now. We’ve had several laptops over the years, the oldest I think was about 7 yrs old that just got replaced.
We also use only the data connection thru the cell phones. We are still grandfathered into the unlimited from Verizon.

Usually there are 2 questions asked, either repairing or selling … So you only want one thing to do there? Sometimes it’s the only place that’s close by to sell things to.

It may seem like they aren’t doing anything for a while but then you hear of the massive ban hammer taking place and people start complaining that they were banned for no reason and then we find out then yes they had bought gold or whatever and there was a real reason to ban them.

ANet has said in the past that the reason it takes a little while to ban is because they collect data and try to figure the code behind the scammers and ban off of that and catch quite a few all at one time. Banning one account at a time is not as cost efficient I guess.

As someone who is prior military … what happens if someone is playing and all of a sudden they go away for duty for what should be 6 months, while away they get extended out for another 6 months … and another. Now they are gone at least 1 1/2 years from the game. It could be longer, it is the military we are talking about here. Are you really going to tell the girls and guys “sorry but you were gone x months now the chars/names you had are gone”?

For me this game has no end. I play pretty much every day and I still have lots to do. When I run out of things then that will be the end but I really don’t see that happening any time soon.

As a matter of fact I am in Las Vegas for a week and I still log in to play for a little while every day before going to enjoy Vegas for the day.

They both take time and gold … which is more rewarding for you?

You are expected to have maxed out your gear before you even start raiding.

So what does raiding bring to the table? (apart from the challenge, which I’m looking forward to)

Apart from the challenge and the minis, it brings Legendary Armor — which has stats the same as Ascended, but you can switch them (hypothetically) when out of combat.

Part of what I bought when I paid for the expansion is LS3 and more …. more content to be delivered thru LS episodes before they release the paid expansion.

They are just starting work on the 2nd expansion to GW2, I doubt very much they are thinking of GW3 with only having one expansion out for the game.

I find them all the time in harvesting various gathering nodes and not just the mushrooms nodes.

They have not done a “name purge” in over 10 years on either Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 I doubt very seriously they are considering it or will ever consider it.

I have been playing MMO’s since the old BBS days. Long before they really were massive multiplayer online games.

It’s already been proven that core can still beat the elites if you “git gud”

This game is NOT pay to win. Either you buy the expansion or you don’t. Every MMO is this way.

Problem is ONLY you can decide if you want to play again. ONLY you know what you like and don’t like. Everyone can give you a hundred different reasons why they like or don’t like the game.

Personally I like both maps. Different tactics needed on each map. Personally I also like PvE both in Core and in HoT. I paid the $100 for HoT and have no regrets and am enjoying myself everyday in the game. My opinion is just that, it’s my opinion. No one else has the ability to give you your opinion.

Either you buy it and make a new account OR you make a f2p account and upgrade —- it is entirely up to you how you want to do it.

I got my Zap off of a trash mob in SW I think or maybe it was DT. Didn’t even realize I had gotten it until I started to clean out my bags, lol.

Neither map was better or worse than the other. It was just different mechanics. On the Alpine you have very simple maps while on the other you have closer to real life war with different levels, what some of you call PvE I call closer to real life war. More tactics needed in the other map. More snipers.

Bag slots are per character while bank tabs are for the account. Been that way since the GW universe started over 10 years ago.

If you logged in while it was going on then it was free. Most of the time it was 2 weeks and a few times up to a month to log on to get it free. If you did not log in then you have to pay for it. It was advertised as thus and this is how it is. How hard is it to understand?

And if you already have it then the price for the bundle will have a discount on it for you already have a part of it.

In HoT, mastery points can be gained character-by-character, thus allowing the account to master all of the tracks. In Tyria, once a “mastery point” has been gained, that’s it!!———-and that means there are NOT enough available “mastery points” to allow for the tracks to be completed————————-UNLESS the player (NOT the character(s)) elects to play “fractals” and/or “dungeons” and/or PvP. This includes WvW by the way———too often one sees a “follow the leader” group blindly going from a start point to ?? without rhyme or reason.

Once an account has gotten a MP in either Core or HoT it can no longer be obtained by a different char. I know this for a fact since my other half was in HoT with a new char just this morning maybe about 2 hours ago and went to a new spot to her with a MP and a HP. Went to commune the MP and it said “nope you already have it” while the HP was still doable since the HP are per char.

I am doing it on all my chars just because I like the option to go anywhere to play anywhere with any char at the drop of a hat.

Most MMO games (or the like) sold now a days in a store front are really nothing more than maybe the installation files on a CD and a code to say you bought it. The first time you hook into the games portal there are always updates and the rest of the files to download. So like someone else said – unless you can find a boxed copy that is less than the online price it may just be easier to buy online anyway.

Scarcity makes people purchase, even if it’s artificial scarcity.

If people know that luxury item X will be in the store forever and ever then they’ll frequently put off purchasing. There’s no rush because it will always be there. Since something better may come along they figure they might as well wait. If people know that item X is going to leave then it pushes them to decide to get it now as they’ll won’t be able to get it later.

That is so stupid… Terrible business sense.

They have lost so much money from me because i don’t have it when they decide its time to dump out items i like, so they miss out…

Take the Bandit Sniper Costume, i’d love to have purchased it, but they tack on a heap of useless items to pad out the price, so they lose 700 gems worth of money because i refuse to pay 2000 gems, Sorry no deal…

Actually it is basic Marketing 101 — make it seem like it’s a now or maybe never again to cause more to buy ASAP. Its done in real life too and it works, why do you think every marketer keeps doing it? Why do you think things get put on “clearance” and then the next you go in the store it’s back at regular price with maybe only a little change in the packaging? Again it is very basic Marketing 101. It was part of one of the first marketing classes I took when I got my degree in Marketing/Management. I graduated with honours by the way, the last semester I took 5 classes to finish the degree before I went into the Army and got all A’s. Yes I am a little proud of the work I did in college.

I don’t hate Steam, I just will not add a layer onto a game that I don’t think needs to be there. I won’t buy anything from them. If I can get a game without Steam than I will play it otherwise I will not play a game that has to go thru another layer.
My choice and since I have been playing online games since the BBS days I think I can give my opinion on my choice for not using an invasive site like Steam.

As for GoG …. my credit union refuses to do any business in that country as it seems it is well known for stealing ID’s. Not that GoG is known for that it’s the country that has a horrible reputation so they just decided not to do business with it.

Diminishing returns kicks in after awhile ……. so after a time not much is gotten from the mobs

Been this way since the beginning of the game. I have all I need for the one I am working on without playing the mystic toilet. I got all mine thru the boxes at the end of the daily log in rewards.

Play the game in which ever area you want. Kill everything, do every event, harvest everything. Sell things on the TP if they are listed for more than 2xs the merch price, otherwise salvage it. Then sell the materials on the TP, again if they are more than 2xs the merch price at least. If less than 2xs then deposit into the bank, prices tend to fluctuate and things will sometimes go up in price to sell later for a profit.

I have fun in the game doing lots of things and still make lots of gold.

Grind? What Grind? I have been playing since Beta and Headstart over 3 years ago, pretty much every day and I have never grinded. I just play and do what I want and the XP, gold and materials come.

There is no “bible” on how to write an MMO. All do it somewhat different. GW2 just happens to try other things more often than most. If they were all the same then what would the point be in there every being another one made?

I just did today’s dailies …. did 3 from PvE and one in WvW and not one from HoT and I did them all in about 15 mins.

I think the real trouble will come if they’ll try selling their next expansion for 50 bucks while giving away HoT for free again.

GW2 is not the only MMO that is now bundling the core + expansions into the new one that comes out for one price. $50 is also the going price for just about every expansion out there. You may find a few at the $40 range, most at $50 and some even at the $60 range.

Even thou I have most HP’s in HoT I would still do them if you asked in map chat … Why? Cause of the XP that I get for helping and killing it again, lol.

Check the Wiki as to which monsters drop that item and where to find them.

You have a choice to do 3 out of 12 dailies. 3 different modes with 4 each. As for myself I end up doing a mixture of WvW and PvE and usually I end up doing more than the 3 needed for the AP just by playing the game.

I have almost a 100 sitting in my bank at the moment (sooner or later I will finish making Bolt) and I did not make a single one thru the mystic toilet. I got them all thru the log in box at the end month.

Really? Dying? If it was really dying then they would not be working on LS3. If it was really dying then they would not be working on big updates like the one on the 19th. If it was really dying they would not be working on another expansion.

You still have the PS to do. The expansion story and PS are 2 different stories so you’ve always been able to not do the PS and still do the expansion story and then go back to the PS anytime you want. You just change it to which ever one you want at the time.
