I have been playing since GW1 and I don’t think I have ever heard of ANet having to shut the servers down. It may have happened once in the last however many years but this is weird for them and if they say they need to shut it down then it must be a bad one …
And you cannot get that title from making the legendaries the “new” way as you can only make them once. So the only way to get that title is to make 2 of the same the “old” way.
People complained about mapping WvW for 100% completion and it got taken out.
People complained about only having LS episodes, they wanted an PAID expansion and we all remember the complaints about having to “pay again”
People complained about they wanted to “hunt for elites” so they made have to do different quests and kill certain things to get the elites and people complained that that’s not what they meant and so they changed it again.
People complained about dyes and they should have them available on all chars not just the one that found it first, they made the dye wallet thing
People complained …….. how many more examples do you want about them listening to feedback and changing and fixing things?
The most useless weapon is the one you don’t like. Someone else may like it quite a bit but if you don’t then they are dumb cause in your eyes it’s useless.
A bit confused about HoT expansion upgrade
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: PyrateSilly.4710
A lot of MMO’s are going to the “buy the expansion and get the core with it”. No one has blinked an eye at other MMO’s doing this but for some reason this particular MMO people are up in arms over it.
Even after playing nearly every day since head start almost 4 years ago I am still finding new places to see, new events to do, new things to do and new people to talk to. And I haven’t even finished LS2, HoT or LS3 yet … so much to see and do …..
I am a casual player and I am having a blast with all the new stuff and still having fun with the old stuff. Not leaving any time soon.
I usually do a mix of WvW and PvE

There is another post’s link inside this one also about when the release might be
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/What-time-do-Patches-usually-happen/first#post6255533
The answer might be in here ……
Sometime tomorrow …. that is all anyone but ANet knows
The only thing to remember is this is just a game … it is not real life and few things are just like in real life …..
ANet’s office is in the PST zone. So look for the patch to come sometime between 9am and 5pm on the day they say for the time zone they are in. They go by that time zone because pretty much everyone is in the office then to take care of any fires that might crop up.
Even thou I do play Pokemon Go there is no way I want the games to overlap …. just no.
This will be merged with all the other mount threads very shortly and that’s where it belongs.
they’ve already stated they are looking into fixing megaservers somehow in the future (i suspect districts or something similar is not far off).
I think that will not happen. We could count the number of gw2 players (aka the big secret)
We had districts in GW1 and still did not know how many were playing at any one time. People were in different cities on different districts
I think you should watch the video, it actually tells you all the good ways to make gold, and even has a list of materials nodes linked in the description.
Easiest way to make gold —-- play the game, harvest everything, kill everything, either sell on the TP or salvage and then sell. That’s how to make gold.
Side note that is a cousin of the other side note. I’d speculate that as soon as they bring back living world season 1 / a way to farm sprockets the watchwork mining pick will get removed from the gem store.
You can get a home instance node to get sprockets every day. I get 6 to 8 every day from it. I sell 250 at a time on the TP when I get too many. I can’t use them fast enough.
If nothing else, the Trading Post eliminates most trading spam. Thank goodness. The game is better off without any Spamadams.
GW1 automatically put all trade spam into the trade channel, you could just turn that kitten off.
Also to the response above that people still got scammed… once again I say…. How? All anet has to do is auto direct all support requests about trade scams to the trash because its hilariously bad if you get scammed with such a system.
Perhaps, you never played Guild Wars (One). There was a reason it was called Spamadam.
I played GW1, since alpha. Now that we’re passed the nonsense I can say with 100% certainty that if you turned the trade channel off there was hardly any spam.
Um no.
I have no clue what game you were playing but no matter if you had trade channel on or off there was massive spamming for trading. People would get scammed quite often and CS would try to sort it out. Now with the TP CS no longer has to spend the man hours to fix the scammers.
I believe the answer you are looking for is here where it’s been asked and answered already:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Refunds-Why-not-Ultimate
I pre-purchased the $100 Ultimate version and have not regretted spending it all. I am having a blast playing in the old and new areas pretty much every day. I am still finding new things to see and do.
I just waited for the monthly box. I was working on the other parts at the same time on just a part time basis so it did not take long to get them.
I would be more concerned if there was unlimited supply resources but there is not so therefor supply will run out very fast and it will not matter if 20 people have hammers to repair anything if there is no supply.
Some of you are just not thinking at all about the amount of supply and how fast it runs out close to where you want to take something down. So now you have to run further away to get more supply and at that point things are knocked down since the ones doing the knocking down don’t have to run any where they can just keep hitting it.
And even if you don’t buy HoT yet but still log into play you will unlock LS3 when it is released shortly. Then all the episodes will be waiting for you when you do buy HoT.
Don’t buy anything right now. Keep a hold on the gems and keep looking in the shop until you see something you just cannot live without.
Personally I buy things like the shared slots, extra bag space, extra bank space, extra char slots —-- and only when they are on sale. Sometimes they have a rather large sale on minis, like only 50 gems each, that’s when I may get those.
I check the store every day to see what is on sale and then decide if I want to spend the gems.
Just remember there is nothing in the store that is mandatory to play the game. The unbreakable, forever harvesting tools, the extra bag space, the extra bank space – everything is just things that are mostly cosmetic. No one is going to do a check to see if you have anything from the store.
Accordingly to the Massively article, and Dulfy’s notes on it, no you don’t need to have completely the HoT story to be able to play LS3 (You do need to own HoT though). However, it will start where HoT’s storyline left off, and I should expect that it will reference parts of it as though the character had.
Yeah, I suppose I should have clarified, I had been wondering if I would need to complete HoT’s story in order to understand the beginning of LWS3.
I have not finished LS2 nor have I finished HoT story ….. but I still play and have fun pretty much every day. Honestly I just don’t care all that much about the story to try to understand all the little particulars. I just have fun playing in both core and HoT.
Assuming each line’s an average of 15 words, that’s 1500 lines, 40 repetitions, for a total of just under a million words. Assuming a modest conversational speed of 1wps, that’s still 250 hours of recording to be done. Even at a pace of 4 hours a day of perfect takes, that’s over 2 months of voice recording if done as a single session per day. In order for them to finish in a week (5 days), it’s going to take 13 recording sessions per day for them to finish the voice recording alone. Text stuff would likely take 1/5th as much effort, so add one more day. Integration and testing will likely take AT LEAST as long as that, so we’re looking at the end of July in a best case “a wizard did it” scenario. Mid-August is probably more reasonable.
I think they can record multiple lines concurrently, I don’t expect all the voice actors to be in the studio taking turns
Actually there are quite a few VO actors that have a studio or studio like area in their house and just do the VO and then email it off. I know we have one and I know several other VO actors over here in the LA area that just record in their house and email it off to whomever needs it or wants it. It’s quite easy to do several versions of whatever also.
And they couldn’t have said that on the forums? Sheesh.
Communication…
And they may have jumped the gun on releasing the article since the information it is referring to was given during E3.
Because Steam wants 30% (if I remember the number right) of every transaction.
Here are the update notes. A huge bunch of stuff got added and stuff
Hmmm let’s see the company is over 10 years old? In all that time has ANet given out lots of information on what is coming up? Nope. Every time they give out some things they are working on that are possibilities and then it doesn’t work out people read them the riot act and they go back to almost no information. Honestly I don’t blame them to give almost no information with the reception they get from some people.
I see colour every where in the game. It is so colourful I am not sure what you are seeing.
I look to see what the piece is selling for on the TP usually before salvage. A lot of times even white will be selling for many times the vendor price. If it is not at least triple the vendor price then I will either save it for the mystic toilet or salvage it. That’s for white, blue and greens. For yellow and exotic I will see if it’s better than what I have and then maybe use it or save it for the mystic toilet or salvage, all depends on how I feel or how many I have in my bags.
1 – that is NOT LS1. We cannot replay LS1. That might be your Personal Story which you can get rid of the arrow/marker for under options.
Getting HoT trait line will take months?

You need to play the whole game to experience it all. What is hard to understand about that?
I don’t raid I won’t get that stuff. I don’t PvP I won’t get that stuff. I understand this is how this game works and I am fine with it. It has from the very beginning.
A lot has happened in the last 1 1/2 years in the game. Read thru the notes, that is the ONLY way for you to know what you want to know. People can post their list of changes but it probably won’t have what you are looking for.
Double posting is against the rules

I have only been on laptops for everything from gaming to whatever for the last 5 years. I have had several sizes and ages of laptops. We live full time in an RV so no real room for a tower anymore.
My other half’s laptop (Asus 17 inch republic of gamers laptop) does not get hot and has not needed a chill pad under it.
My 17 in laptop (acer) does need a chill pad to have fans running on the battery.
0. Release.
1. Added more grind.
2. Everyone got mad.
3. Removed a little grind.
4. Somehow, a bad GW2 fanfic Mary-Sue named Scarlet accidentally became canon.
5. New players got confused.
6. Added more grind.
7. Everyone got mad.
8. Removed a little grind.
9. Expansion added MUCH MORE GRIND.
10. Everyone got MUCH MORE MAD.
11. Removed a little grind.I’m sensing a pattern.
What grind? I have been playing pretty much every day since Beta and have come across absolutely no grinding what so ever.
Here is the list of updates to the game since you left, you can read all of them to see what’s changed
You can read all the updates we have had here to see all the changes
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
There are a WHOLE bunch of changes. Not sure how many since you left since you did not say when you left.
A very vocal few came on here to complain about the new map and how much they hated it. BUT the voting comes from anyone that plays as in ANet sent an in game mail to vote as soon as someone went up a level. So more people learned about the poll than just the few that come to the forums. That’s way it seems that all of a sudden there are more voting to keep the new map.
Which by the way, I found the new map much more fun to play in.
Your gold gets automatically deposited in the bank. No need to deposit. I actually use less gold now since it is all together. Much easier to keep track of how much I now have.
I have duplicated across all the characters on my account, using the shared inventory slots — for 700 gems (less if bought in a bundle of 5), all my toons have access. I haven’t spent coin|karma on a harvesting tools since these were added to the game.
The issue is that it’s simply not convenient to do this.
It certainly is convenient for me to do this.
I had to change some habits, but it’s superior to any other existing alternative
And in my opinion, it’s better than any likely future alternative. ANet sells a lot of harvesting tools now; they would probably sell fewer (the number of current repeat buyers likely exceeds the number of potential new buyers). I’d rather spend a tiny bit of time now double-clicking 3 times just before (and just after) I swap toons than spending more later.
Everyone’s preferences vary, of course. I just have trouble imagining that it’s worth the trouble to ANet to change the existing system
Convenient for me too, been doing the swap thing since I bought them almost when they first came out. Usually I put them in the bank to swap since I have other stuff in the shared bags right now. No issues here to swap to another char.
“Most” of the people actually want them around according to the polls and most stuff I’m reading.
No. The correct conclusion is that most of the people (I’d say roughtly 70 percent) who stopped playing because of DBL when HoT was released, have never come back, hence the recent poll result.
No, this is a bullkitten kitten “conclusion” that you pulled out of your behind because you just cannot bear the thought that the majority of GW2 players do not share your distaste for a particular map. You people can literally never be happy. With the way this nnew poll went you will never even be forced to play on DBL because there will always be 2ABL maps (unless ANet introduces a new WvW map). Just accept that and be happy that you aren’t forced to play on a map you don’t enjoy.
Nope. I was around before HoT and have seen with my own eyes that population has decreased 70%. Did it ever recover? Not at all. Even with servers merged, WvW activity is pretty low.
ANet has the numbers, not you. So you cannot say it has decreased by 70% and it be factually true. You may like to think that number is true but unless you have the concrete numbers that ANet has you have no idea what the number is. And by the way they will not tell you the numbers and they never have given those numbers out in over 10 years.
None are that hard too long …… except for those with a jumping puzzle attached to a vista or hero point. I am just not that good at jumping puzzles so those take me the longest.
I make money off them … don’t get rid of them. A lot of times even the minor ones will sell on the TP for more than 5 times the merch price for them. Sometimes it’s a whole lot more than that.
You do have several char slots. You could try several before deciding which to do world completion on the first time.
Personally I did world completion on my warrior first. I am now working on world completion on several others, all different races and professions. One has at least 75% while the others have at least 50%. I think I threw in there a 2nd warrior. I do enjoy “hack and slash”, lol.
Birthday per character has been the way that ANet has done things for over 10 years. Why change it now? I like birthday presents per character. I still go into GW1 to check on presents ……. and to do some playing.
