Because Zergging has been going on for longer then GW2 ….. People won’t change something that’s been a staple in games for quite a number of years and games.

I have it one char already and working (slowly, lol) on the other 8 chars that I have.

Aye, but mini’s were/are also tradeable. I can’t remember if there were any the weren’t mind oyu. I’ve forgotten more than I remember of the game lol

When you “installed” them into your Hall of Monuments then those ones were no longer tradeable. The only way you could trade them is if you did not put it into the hall or if you had 2 – one to put into the hall and one to trade. Support had LOTS of tickets about people getting scammed about that, trading for a mini and then realizing that they could not add it to their own hall since it had already been added.

ANET has done it this way for over 10 years ………. I have no problems with it.

This is false. I finished the meta with carving the last of the pumpkins while in LA.

Do the areas. You get XP for your actual level not the lower downed level.
Pretty much everything in this game gives XP – killing, events, hearts, discovering vistas, raising a downed NPC or PC, harvesting all nodes, discovering new areas of the maps – all give XP.

DR has been around for a while, including there. Play for a while there then go do an event somewhere else then back to the Lab. Doing that also gives me time to clean out my bags and clean them up without getting killed in the Lab.

Every time an MMO does a balance patch the same thing happens for all professions/classes/races. Everyone complains that they hate it and it’s the worst thing to happen ever.

You already own it why not try it out for yourself. No one can tell you how you will like it.

For myself I find the maps full of people and people playing the game. I still find new things to see and do even on the “old” maps and I have been playing since Beta.

ANet is big on holiday’s and festivals. Halloween and Wintersday (Christmas) are their 2 biggest and better loved holiday’s.

I have more than enough for my legendary and still have not done any of the mystic toilet for the clovers. I just waited for the monthly chest and got them that way.

Explore and complete maps, kill all enemies, do events, harvest/log everything, raise dead NPC’s and players …. pretty much everything gives XP.
As for gold – double check what things are selling for on the trading post before salvaging or selling to a regular merchant. And that includes white and blue things. I have seen things that sell to a merch for 20 copper sell for 5 silver on the TP. Do that often enough and you can make quite a bit, I do.

Only ANet has the statistics on how many are active at any given time on any given map. They do not release that information and in the 10+ years of the Guild Wars universe have they ever released that, I don’t think they will start now. A few times in the past they have given out some numbers on how many boxes they have sold but nothing about how many are playing at any given time.

You can only make each one once. You cannot make 2 of the same legendary using the HoT way.

The only ways to get 2 of the same legendary is to have one of the HoT and one of the “old” way OR do 2 of the same from the “old” way.

Actually I have played online games since the old BBS days. I have not only online gamed that long but also brought up 2 gaming sons AND now am bringing up the granddaughter to be a gamer. She loves GW2, Wizard101, table top gaming and Loot Crate. And she just finished Space Camp as Commander and had to land the shuttle. Oh by the way she is only 9.

Here’s a radical thought …. why don’t you log back in yourself? There is no monthly fee, you obviously already paid for the game since you are posting here and you already bought HoT. There is no more for you to pay out except some time to see for YOURSELF how YOU like it. No one can give you that information since no else is just like you.

No mastery XP last year from it so not sure if this year they will have it the same.

The only way to have 2 of the exact same legendary is to have 2 of the same precursors drop or be found in the Mystic Toilet. Or you could buy 2 of the exact same ones off the Trading Post.

I help with doing HP’s all the time even if I have done them already. Why? Because I get xp and other things for helping. It’s all part of that cooperative thing that ANet likes to promote.

All of them are used by people. Not everyone uses the “meta” flavour of the day. I sure don’t. I use what I want at the time I pick it. Even if a lot of people do use the meta flavour of the day, most just copied it off of a website and most of those probably do not understand how it’s supposed to be used and when to push the keys in a battle to make it work like the meta it’s supposed to be.

It’s called “Marketing 101”

Question is how many more maps will be uncovered before the expansion hits? We have no clue as to when that will hit and no real idea (yet) on how many parts to LS3 there will be so we have no idea on how many more maps will be uncovered BEFORE the expansion hits. (I mean so far for the price of the HoT expansion we have gotten 6 maps.)

I don’t mind Anet bundling Expacs with the game, every games does it eventually.
But having it at full-game price when the expac does not have a full-game worth of content and doesn’t give any sort of discount towards people who have already bought the game feels like giving a middle finger to those that bought the game before.
IF they are realeasing a new Xpac, and they are doing the same kitten they did with HoT. It better kitten be worth buying it from the perspective of someone who already has the game. Otherwise I’ll just again wait until it goes stupidly low price on a key site.
At first when I saw the HoT price, I honestly though Anet were joking or something.

And this is where we disagree. I found the pricing normal for an expansion. So much so that I pre-purchased the Ultimate at $100 and was not one bit disappointed with the content and am still not one bit disappointed. Playing almost every day I have had my monies worth and more.

I can never forget Talk Like a Pirate Day — it’s my wedding anniversary! (24 years this Monday, woo). Didn’t plan it that way, Pirate Day was inaugurated after I was married, but given that I’ve done pirate reenactment, Pirate Feasts, etc, it just adds to the day’s specialness.

My other half and I used to get paid to be pirates in festivals and shows from Key West to Panama City in Florida along with corporate parties. (Most of the time the pay was usually the hotel room, lol. 10 days hotel paid in Key West is pretty good pay ) Where did you play?

The next expansion will likely include the core game as well, but not the Heart of Thorns expansion. It is what it is. It just seems normal to me for them to do it that way.

Actually, they’ve said that future expansions will include base and all previous expansions for free.

More and more MMO’s are going this route. Makes it much easier for new players to come into the game and play with everyone which also makes it less likely to die that fast.

Well since quite a few MMO’s are going the route the GW2 is going with new expansions having all the old stuff with it too then I would suggest just not playing any other MMOs or just stopping when they start adding expansions since they will usually cost the same amount as a new game.
I’ve played online games since the old BBS days, seen it too many times. The new game costs $40 to $60 and then an expansion comes out and the price is the same. Now the MMO companies are realizing that they need to bundle the core game with a new expansion in order to bring in new players.

I sell most on the TP. Kinda cool when I can get 10x or more from the TP compared to selling the item to a merch. If it’s not selling for at least 4x the merch price then I salvage it. Unless for some reason I get a wild hair and just save everything and do the Mystic Toilet just because.

Depends on how fast that you want it ….
If you want it right now then spend the real life money.
If not then just farm and get the gold and items.
All up to you if you want to spend that amount. No one else can tell you what the pixels in a game are worth to you.

For myself, I am spending the time to farm, I am almost done getting the stuff for Bolt (I was lucky and had Zap drop so figured why not go for that one, lol). I have bought gems for other things just not used them for doing this. Time is what I have so I am using time.

I play in all zones all the time, I am having fun and been having fun since the beta/early start 4 years ago. I have no idea what this “end game content” is that some talk about. If I saw “end game content” that would mean the game was about to be over and I couldn’t play it anymore unless I started a brand new char. I don’t like games like that.

Been playing this game since GW1. Playing pretty much every day and I still find things I have not seen or done before. So many little nuggets hiding everywhere. Both myself and my wife plays. Along with both my boys. Oh and the granddaughter is now playing. I like the non-competitiveness of the resource nodes, the kills and well just about every part of PvE. I also enjoy the DBL map for WvW quite a bit. I prefer that one over Alpine any day.

Personally I have never understood paying $50+ for a game to buy it and then spending $10+ a month to rent what you just bought. I have played online games since the old BBS days and I still have yet to do that.

I voted to keep it and I play on it. I prefer it to Alpine. I like the multi-level thing going on. It’s closer to reality than Alpine. Every time I go into that map I find it quite full.

This was a majority vote to have and keep BOTH maps still in play. I prefer DBL and don’t like Alpine as much, I still played on it thou.
So who voted for it? A majority of the GW2 WvW population.

Schools are also restarting all over the US right now. Less people playing in the US during the week as more people are going to bed a little earlier. (Not sure when schools start again for the rest of the world)

Most of CA has started schools back already, VA has started some counties back, others start Sept 6th (granddaughter starts back then, right now she is in Space Camp), AL has started most back, TN has also started most back. FL has started most back also. Different states start the schools back at different times but most go back between the last 2 weeks of Aug and the 1st week of Sept. They offset them for various reasons. I know in the northern parts of the country they leave a few days to at least a week extra in their planning (maybe more) because of snow days that the schools shut down. Then all that goes out the window when the kids are in year round schools.
Summer time is pretty much over in the US with the schools starting back.

It’s an MMO … happens in every MMO. We are lucky with this one as they don’t go down for hours at a time all the time. ANet has figured out how to do updates and bug fixes without bringing the servers down every time.
