I have been playing online since the old BBS days. Started with playing female chars since I am one but got hit on and harassed enough that I now just play male chars. That being said it just goes with me the hack-n-slash type in any game, including DnD. Thou from experience I know real life girls can sword fight with the best of them (I am certified in stage combat and help my wife teach it). My wife on the other hand plays almost all female chars.

Glad we get to see everyone again. We got to meet some of the Devs 5 years ago in Los Angeles and just happened to be up this way when the party was announced. The t-shirt (we tied dyed ours) that was given out to everyone finally bit the dust about a year ago, hope we get another!
Very rarely. Usually only if I see someone has put them out for general use, at times I have put them out for general use also.
Only other time is when like Wintersday when you need to eat X sweet for the title thing, but then I can’t do jumping puzzles so it looks like I won’t ever get that part, lol, oh well I still have fun playing.
Yeah this explained it to me in many ways. Mostly the part that worries me the most is the “no longer available” part of the Jormag kit that it came from.
It’s not that it’s no longer available anymore, it’s just not available right now. ANet does bring things back onto the TP so it will probably show up again, no one but ANet knows when then.
It has been unusual this anniversary year for them to post what is being put into the TP and on what day, even if it is just a week out. Usually we don’t know what is being added for a short time until it shows up at 9am Seattle time. That is why in the sticky area there is a sticky that most keep an eye on everyday before logging in to see what is new on the TP for that day.
Marketing / Supply and demand
Prices do not stay the same with auctions. You could try to see if someone wants to sell it without going thru the TP but I would not recommend it as it’s an easy way to get scammed and ANet did the TP as a way for players to trade without the possibility of scams with person to person trading also it stops the chat box from being full of WTS and WTB orders.
I have all the ones I am allowed by the game and still wish I had a few more, lol. My wife just bought all that she could to finish filling out the rest
Actually that particular week starting on Saturday my wife and I will be traveling about 40 hours or more. Not only going to that but also up to Oregon and then maybe to Seattle for the party and then back down to SoCal.
We just finished 6 weeks of traveling in our RV going cross country and back, mostly to make sure the granddaughter and our 2 god-kids went to Space Camp in Huntsville, AL and to see our respective parents …
I guess we like to travel, lol. But most traveling will stop the end of Sept when my wife goes back to work at a new job doing something that she has never done before but was asked to come and do.
We will be there for some gaming and shopping and was wondering if ANet was sending anyone down there! I know you guys will already be at PAX the following weekend ….
I have always moused over the HP icon on the map just to see if I have done. My eye site is not that great so I never take it for granted and just double check things like. With repeatable ones I now do it all the time as I may not want to repeat just get it the first time at the moment.
or look up pretty much any information you are looking for. It is updated by the players so if you find something is not updated then either do it yourself or leave a comment in the discussion page about the needed fix.
My wife is not – well I was gonna say not IT but that’s not true anymore since she just got hired in for an IT position including doing software stuff and in the job offer / contract it specifies to be available pretty much 24 / 7
But even when she wasn’t IT she was an engineer and was on call pretty much 24 / 7. We were redoing a roof on a house, she had the whole week off for vacation to do it, when in the middle of being up there she got a call with a question from work. She told them that she was on the roof and that if they heard a “ahhahha” to hang up and call 911 that she had fallen but what is the question. I think they thought she was joking and blew it off and just wanted their question answered.
I’m a little disappointed that there are still people who equate “size” and “code” as if they were the directly scaled to each other. Minecraft is a game that was no larger then 4MB (under Notch’s development), and contained a world space bigger then most MMOs combined.
The size I was talking about was the number of different environments, the different enemies that have multiple skills/spells, the different maps, gliding, now mounts, etc …. that’s the size I was talking not necessarily the map size or the space size of any thing.
All of that takes code and then you add in the players that’s more code to get it all to try to work together in a somewhat coherent way — that’s the the whole size thing.
I not only pre purchased it I got the Ultimate version because I enjoy the game quite a bit and really don’t see me stopping the game any time soon.
Not only did I get the ultimate as soon as I could get in but so did my wife.
Thing is the expansion is already mostly downloaded for everyone that’s been logging in over the last few weeks. With the demos that went on last weekend and the one this weekend has already shown up some problems that they have fixed. I am sure a few more may pop up with the massive amount of code to make a game this size but they have been looking for and fixing problems already.
Firstly, words like “scared” , “only”, “Everybody”, they can massively undermine your messages. IMHO, they are rubbish words and do not represent the posters opinions very well at all.
To the OP’s suggestion, an entire map that allows mutual pvp, or consentual duelling is not so bad an idea. Possibly not on Anet’s priority list and not likely across the entire tyria but not a bad idea.
Possibly Anet could duplicate a map and allow duelling requests on that map.
There are already 4 maps in WvW for dueling AND the PvP area AND the guild hall, no more are needed. I have played all types of MMOs since the old BBS days, I have seen the toxic community pop up with dueling, I don’t need to flex my whatever to prove to someone else I can kick their butt, I do that enough with all the enemies that are already in the game.
Even if there is an auto decline you will still get harassed, happens in every other game that has dueling and would happen here. Seen that in too many other games to think it won’t happen here. Even if it’s not texting about how “scared” someone is to duel then it would be by mail and then ANet would have to deal with the harasser. No thank you to PvP in the PvE maps.
Large bodies of water with the Skimmer will no longer be an annoying obstacle (for the Rev at least), the Raptor breezes on past mobs, so traveling any distance from point A to B will become so much faster and less annoying.
Going past mobs? Why go past them when you can kill them? That’s how I got the 2 precursors that I have gotten were from killing mobs. One was in one Core and the other in Silverwastes, both just from going around and killing and harvesting everything on my way to do other things.

This is inaccurate. An account can only acquire 1 Mastery Point per Personal Story Level Arc, regardless of race. The Hero Panel (and Wiki [the Wiki notes, at the top of the page for Mastery Point Unlocks, and in the ‘Anomaly’ section for Hero Achievements, that only one MP is acquired per Story Level Arc, though]) are a bit confusing as they show all possible avenues to collect the one Mastery Point in a Level Arc.
It is not inaccurate. I have finished the personal story on a human and still have 2 parts that are for asura left to do to get MP. I know this is a fact as I have done the ones for the other races already and still have those 2 left.

I didn’t use them except to get across places with the jump thing since gliding couldn’t quite get there. You have to dismount to gather, fight, etc so that to me it just wasn’t worth to keep getting the mount out. I could get there almost as fast and do more while on foot.
I’ve had 5 years of playing time from the very beginning.
I got all the Living Story episodes for free as I logged on when they were free.
I have gotten to play on my birthday (all day) with both my wife and both my sons and the granddaughter.
Again I have gotten to play for the last 5 years in just Guild Wars 2 alone.
Funny thing is very few people have actually played the new elites so not sure how they can give an opinion on them. Just because a couple of bloggers played them does not mean that that’s all to them.
We are seeing only a part of one of the 5 maps coming in the expansion and who knows how many others there will be in the Living Story after the expansion, which you will not be able to access unless you bought the expansion. So we have no idea about what will all be there in the maps or not until it’s released.
This one is in the desert ….. not as much cause to be in the forest with what HoT was. Different climates mean different ways to get around. Yes the desert does have trees, I should know as I live in a desert right now but it is still not like living in a tropical rain forest which is what HoT is.
Mounts are a component of the new expansion and require the purchase of it in order to access them.
just like raids in first expansion then, sounds like Anet learned nothing from their mistakes. No reason to download 25GB

If you play at all you will be downloading the expansion(s) anyway, you just won’t be able to access them unless you pay for the expansion(s). Just like you downloaded any Living Story episodes but if you did not pay for HoT then you could not access them.
I have played since the Beta 5 years ago and I am still playing the way I want. I play mostly alone or with my wife and/or kids and/or granddaughter. I have never had to “grind” for anything. I just play the game – kill things, harvest/log/mine everything, events if I feel like, etc. – along the way I have done quite a few achievements without even trying to do them.
I ‘farm’ the whole game. Which ever map I go to is where I kill and collect things. No telling what may drop from even trash mobs. I have gotten precursors and other things from trash mobs.
People are always screaming for MORE ways to get karma. It’s used for quite a few things.
As for the writs and tomes of XP people use them to key farm once a week for free keys.
So I doubt very seriously that they will get rid of them or change how they are distributed.
I did not say you get it by leveling I said play the game while playing a new char so you are killing 2 birds with one stone – getting back into how the game is played and collecting things to sell and gold to get the chapters.
I have given away more gold to family and friends than I have right now, which is almost 300g, just by playing the game. When ever I get anything I look on the TP first to see if someone wants to buy it for more than what the merchant will give me – like a hammer selling at the merch for 1 s 50 c when someone wants to buy it on the TP for 5 s or even 1 g. If it’s not going for anything I may just salvage at that point to free up space or keep them all for putting into the mystic toilet.
EDIT: They are not really just “5 min quests” they also add maps and materials and stuff.
First you could have gotten them for free just for logging in while they were active before the next episode came out.
Second you can play the game and unlock for trading gold for gems.
Third you can just pay real money for gems to get get them.
Not sure when you last played but if it’s been awhile then just start over with a new char to see all things that have changed and at the same time get gold from playing then trade the gold for gems and get them that way. Cheaper to get them as a package deal all at once then to get them one at a time.
ANet cannot change the price constantly. That is what would be needed as the exchange rate changes constantly. Hence the one price and the one price only.
when you use credit card or PayPal don’t they calculate the exchange ratio and the tax?
when you use ebay for example you have the price in usd and can have it in ca also before you buy.
when you make the buy it show you the price the tax and shipping fee.
in the case of Anet there is no shipping fee. but I do not see why they cannot make a web page that give you the price in different currency.
there is plenty of web site able to make a currency conversion.
It all depends on what currency you are buying it in. $25 US dollars is $25 US dollars. If you buy something in another country’s currency on the other hand then you may or may not get charged other charges including a foreign transaction fee. So someone from another country to buy from ANet is paying $25 US dollars but the conversion and/or foreign transactions fees plus whatever there own bank/credit union charges. It’s not on ANet to try to figure out for every customer what other charges may or may not be there individually. And on top of the there was also the VAT added in sometimes.
We just did a trip over to the UK and made sure that we used a credit card that had no foreign transaction fees with it. Why? Because we already knew that paying over there for anything would already be more in US money and not UK money because of the conversion rates and it differed from day to day as to what the difference was. I bought a purse from a charity shop for 4 EU and I really didn’t try to figure out the US price, why? cause I did not know the up to date exchange rate so for me it was 4 EU and that’s it.

Last I checked GW2 now automatically use the 64bit exe if you are on a 64bit system.
So the answer is forget about 32bit (who doesn’t run 64bit today?!).
My wife does contract work on robotic systems. There is one system that for updating the software it has to be written on a Win 7 32 bit computer. It cannot be written on a 64 bit system. She had to special order a laptop just recently and specify that it come with the 32 bit version of Win 7 on it. Getting harder to get that way. So for some things yes 32 bit is used, lol. Thou the laptops we use for everything else are all Win 10 64 bit.
If you want to max your bank space then when you are in your bank click on the gear in the bottom corner of the last bank space. You can accidentally buy extra bank tabs and then you can’t use them.
That being said try to only buy things when they go on sale that you want.
I have maxed the bank space, shared inventory slots, silver o-matic, only 1 set of infinite tools, extra char slots – enough for at least one of each profession (mixed with 1 of each race), if I get any BL keys it’s only when on sale, some more bag for the other char slots.
Why get a box anymore? As soon as you log onto any game for the first time you have to download quite a lot of updates anyway or even the vast majority of the game as the box only gives you the key. Anymore I just buy it online (already pre-purchased it:) ) and save a PDF copy of the receipt with the key on it. I do back ups of my hard drive often and this way I will always have it available just in case there is a problem and the key and info is needed for support.
It takes that long for various reasons. It took that long for the last expansion too. We have gotten everything else right away but we knew the gems would take a few days. Not worried about it yet, after about 4 days then I would contact support.
I personally just don’t bother with box games for the PC anymore. Download to play is my thing. I also just download and play on the PS3 too, the only time I don’t there is when I happen to go into a store like GameStop and see something I want to try on clearance for something $4 or so.
I live full time in an RV (and have for about 7 yrs so far) and space is at a premium so if I don’t have to have a box then all the better. Honestly even if we move out of the RV back into a sticks & bricks place then I still would not want boxes everywhere. Too much clutter anymore is something I no longer want to deal with.
Conversion rates between currencies change daily and sometimes hourly, it all depends. Plus foreign transactions fees per country can be very high or very low also depending on various things including if each country has a good relationship with the other. If a country no longer views another country as allies then the money market parts may go haywire.
