Some sites to keep in mind when you need help:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
http://dulfy.net/
There is lots of info and stuff on both.
The Wiki is added to and fixed by players so if you find something wrong you can fix it.
Dulfy is a gamer who plays who keeps upto date on various events and collections and stuff and if you really need help she usually has a video and/or written out what you need for it.
Expansion – get the stuff that comes with it
no expansion – no extra stuff
How is this hard to understand when all games that have expansions do this? What would be the purpose of having an expansion in an MMO if you did not have this?
If you use them on a level 80 then you get Spirit Shards.
And this is the reason why they did not to put it in in the first place.
There are “mounts” in game, have a look at the toy section of the gem store, there is a magic carpet and a riding broom. Seeing as in 3 years we have only had theses so my guess is they didn’t sell well enough to warrant making more.
I don’t think that it’s not because it didn’t sell but rather no one ended up using them. I have the magic carpet and I think I used it once. Of course I bought it when it was on sale real cheap, lol.
ANet can see all kinds of numbers and I think they just saw how many don’t use what they bought of those toys.
Should a new player use the level 80 boost?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: PyrateSilly.4710
The 80 level booster will allow you to “try out” as many professions in SW so that if you only want one or 2 chars then you can figure it before spending the time to level and mapping and stuff.
They discussed it here:
http://dulfy.net/2016/04/19/gw2-spring-quarterly-update-reddit-ama/
1 – it is permanent
2 – “Allowing the option of moving shared inventory slots around is a lot of work. We can look at keeping shared inventory slots separate even in hide bags mode which can be done in a shorter time frame”
Here is the Patch Notes to peruse thru:

Have fun reading all 15,000 words …. comes out to about 10 pages of updates.
This one should be mixed with this one:

If you have not reported to support about when you crashed and where then please do so. They can’t fix the problem if no one tells them about it.
They get posted here first ……. everyone just reposts them, that’s why no one has simultaneously. Takes a little while to copy and post and to verify everything got added and then the formatting too takes a little while.
They want 30% of any revenue that a game generates. I doubt that GW2 will be on steam anytime soon.
You can’t get the masteries without having HoT and that is part of a mastery.
The Wiki has them.
Dulfy.net puts them also.
Just one reason why I don’t like speaking in abbreviation’s.
There are 62 different things that IT is abbreviated for – http://www.abbreviations.com/IT
Just because you understand what you mean does not mean that anyone else does.
By putting it on Reddit:
1)They allow people to post who have been banned from posting on official forums (there are many)
2) can reach players who don’t currently have GW2 and reply
3) independent moderation (no ANET dictatorship in some people’s eyes – not mine !)
4) allows f2p players to also take part in the discussion and reply
5) ANET uses reddit as the GW2 unofficial forums -
Devs seem to have a more relaxed policy what they can say on Reddit vs official forums (which requires pre approvals etc).…. Reasons
Only one problem here …… the dev’s do NOT require preapproval for posting here. The only thing they are not allowed to post are things that are covered under an non disclosure thing about stuff that’s being worked on before it’s ready.
Here are several sites to find the time difference:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
https://www.etime.zone/
Since ANet is on the west coast of the US then it will be sometime from 9am PDT to 5pm PDT time. Usually it is earlier at around 9am thou. Sometimes it does not drop till 11am thou. I have seen the updates drop as late as 3pm or 4pm in GW1
One of my biggest gripes is how player stats are changed based on zone levels. I feel this is a great injustice to the fantasy MMORPG genre!
Want to know why they did this? Because nice big 80s would go to a level 1-15 zone and 1 shot everything when a lowbie character was working on events or anything. Sometimes the 80s would just farm a spot that a lot of low level characters would be in just to grief them. Now both of them are almost on par and can fight equally. It’s not about loot, if you are trying to kill something, and the moment it spawns it’s dead instantly, how are you expected to even have a chance for credit.
So this can affect your immersion all you want, it is actually better for the game this way. There was a time when it wasn’t, and it was an awful mess back then.
I completely disagree. I don’t think levels should be controlled in this way. I can understand why they would do it – in a way they had no choice because they made the world one large constant zone. But it’s still stupid.
So how would you stop a level 80 1 shotting all the mobs in an area preventing a lowbie from even working on anything there? You can disagree all you want, so then how would you fix it besides how it is currently done?
I wonder how big of a problem this really is. I play several MMOs where level isn’t adjusted depending on area, and I’ve never had any problem with capped characters coming down to lower level areas and griefing me. I do my quests and level just fine and rarely ever even see a high level in these zones.
And there goes the other reason why they did downscaling …. to keep even the low levels relevant to the game and to give even max level chars a reason to go and play there.
Ummm ….. play the game, do events, do meta events, do story (maybe even on multiple chars), harvest everything you can, kill everything you come across …….
She’s explained this before ….. reddit just makes it easier for chatting than here.
What happened to playing because you like it?
Steam wants too much of the revenue ……
People have been saying that Guild Wars is dying for over 10 years, ever since the first one came out. Hasn’t died yet and still going strong.
The expansion is $50 to $100 depending on which version you are getting with the extras the more expensive ones have in them. If you don’t want to spend the money than don’t buy it. If you want the stuff in the expansion and access to LS3 when it comes then buy it. What more do you need to know?
Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are 2 different games.
I have played both and I will continue to play both. I like both games for different reasons as again they are different games.
I have been playing GW2 since the beta and headstart. I play nearly every day, I don’t miss playing very many days. I have NEVER grinded in this game. Where is this grind everyone talks about? I play and the gold comes, I play and the materials come, I play and the skins come …. no grinding, no doing something over and over and over and over and over. It would be very boring to do something over and over and over and over.
This is from the first Guild Wars

Why HoT was less than half a expansion...
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: PyrateSilly.4710
You either pay for it and get the stuff or you don’t and just have the core game. What is so hard to understand about that? I paid for the expansion and been playing thousands of hours and I am still not done with any content, including the content in the core game.
Log on every day
Maybe do dailies maybe not, it all depends on which ones I feel like doing.
Do some map completion on the other 4 chars that I have, while doing that I will do events and other things and remember at some point that I am trying to do map completion and then go back to that and then get distracted again by events and stuff, lol.
I may take some of them over to HoT but I am trying to finish core with all of the chars lol before trying to finish HoT with any of them yet.
Only ANet has those numbers and since the games started over 10 years ago they have not said and I doubt they will now.
Is HoT story accountbound or soulbound?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: PyrateSilly.4710
The ACHIEVMENTS are account bound
The STORY is character bound
Level doesn’t affect what’s in the containers that say they are affected by magic-find. So there is no point sending those to a lower level character.
The ones that don’t say they are affected by magic find are the same as before. You get loot leveled to those characters.I beg to differ, that is exactly the point. The LEVEL of items differs and thus the salvaged mats. For the ones of us working on making ascended gear, it’s the only way to get linen, cotton, wool, leather etc.
To answer the OP: no, didn’t chage. Regular bags – low level, rare gear bags lvl 80 ( for ectos)
Very amusing …… I get linen, cotton, wool, leather etc from the bags that they are supposed to be in and all with level 80 chars. I have gotten all levels of equipment from and all with using level 80 chars. No my magic find is not that high, only about 130%
$50 to $100 is the price for the expansion.
That is the price for most MMO’s that are doing expansions. Most MMO’s now are also including the previous core game and/or other expansions into the price of the current expansion. Why is this a problem for people in this game to understand that is how most are doing it now?
Look on the Wiki as to what is in those bags. What is listed is all that’s there no matter what level the char is at.
What level are you?
For one you cannot get to level 100, only level 80.
For another unless you are level 80 then any xp you get is making you go up a level for your char and not for WvW levels.
I have been at about 350g then went down to about 150g and now back up to just over 300g. Funny thing is most of the going down is not me buying things off the TP it’s me giving gold to family and friends that play that need it since I do play more than they do because I am not allowed to work anymore (doctor’s orders).
Player feedback is great but the thing is ANet has access to information we as the players do not have. They know how many bought the expansion and how many have not. They know how many are actually playing in each map(s) and how long they stay in the map(s). They know how many play each profession and how many of each guild hall has been taken. They have all kinds of numbers that we just do not have access to. So while you think that just because you don’t do X that no one does. There may be more playing in X area than you know and doing X in the game.
Try Dulfy.net for some guides. She keeps up with stuff …. well she also has lots of people that help her with videos and stuff too.
That said. The expansion isn’t worth 50$ so far.
Your opinion only. I paid $100 for the ultimate edition and have not been disappointed at all. I do not regret the $100 for it. So again it is your opinion, stop trying to push your opinion as the only correct version.
Keep it for the Birthday presents —- each char has it’s own birthday so each char gets birthday presents
Sincerely hope Anet didn’t invest a lot of time and effort on a enormous and ephemeral april fool’s joke…
We all get turned into 8 bite chars …… in honour of SAB of course …..
(won’t let me put bit and char next to each other, lol)
We just used them this past Wintersday for an activity.
You can use them on a level 80 ….. they get converted into Spirit Shards.
They are part of the Guild Missions. Depends on which level of mission is available as to which ones you need or how many you need in such and such amount of time.
Wow …. no MMO is ever finished. They are all “filled with half-finished projects” They all change their minds about to add or not or change direction. It’s the nature of a game that is always being added to.
I have also used VLC Media for editing out portions of videos. I had some old VHS tapes that I copied to DVD then took the DVD and edited out the sword fighting parts so that those that did the fighting could have just a copy of that part.
I usually run sound and/or lights for the plays we do. BUT I also have someone run the video/camcorder and then I will do video’s for everyone in the show. I use Windows Live Move Maker.
This last time I had to take out some set changes and the Director talk at the start just to make it under the 2 hr soft limit on the DVD’s. I also added a flying video that was done for the play and pictures to the end for everyone. Took me several tries to get it all in there and still under the 2 hr DVD limit but with the tools in there I was able to do and then I did enough copies to give out at the cast party.
Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: PyrateSilly.4710
Silly time to poll people after a major announcement when people are still angry. Some people will stay angry and some people won’t. So yeah….not really the time to post this sort of thing. I’d have waited at least a couple of weeks.
But you know why that’s why they didn’t wait. They want the “Oh I am angry” people to vote asap to get those negative numbers even if in the next week those same people stop being angry when they actually think about what it means – more concentration on more events and stuff to do in game, more areas to open up.
My vote will be when I pre-purchase the next expansion, which I will do. I am having why too much fun playing every day to want to stop.
