Don’t use the gems for legendary unless you REALLY want one.
Most end up using the gems for extra char slots, extra bag slots and extra slots in the bank, infinity tools, etc.
Once you do the first episode for the Heart of Thorns expansion you have gliding unlocked, but it takes a few to even to get to where to do that episode.
I would also do what others have suggested and that is to try to getting a char to lvl 80 the “old fashioned” way.
We will know when they decide to give us information. Till then it is just conjecture and rumor and should be take with a grain of salt until you hear from ANet themselves.
Just wait for the monthly daily log in box. I got plenty with just that …..
They have not announced a date and price yet. So no one in the public knows anything for sure yet about anything to do with the next expansion.
Endgame means the end of the game. It’s over. No more to do.
Been playing since Beta over 4 years ago, almost everyday and I still have loads of stuff to do. I do not want an end to a fun time!!

To expand on my post, progression is not the only thing lacking from the game. There is no rarity. Everything is obtainable and crafting is not the same as in other MMORPG’s. There is no excitement when killing a mob to drop a really unique item. Yes you can drop precursors, but I do not think these are enough. Maybe its tied to the lack of progression. If Legendary Weapons would REALLY be Legendary I would understand. But they are not, everybody is walking around with them. They have mediocre stats and do not make you all that powerful. There is no prestige or status left anymore with having one.
Boy am I glad I don’t play this game for status. There are skins that very very few people have btw.
99% of the players of the game probably don’t have pinnacle weapons. I have them and almost never use them. Because I just want my characters to look cool. I don’t need status to enjoy the game.
The status situation is what I dislike most about the addition of raids to the game. I thought the game was a better game before legendary armor became the new status symbol.
The problem with “status symbols” is that about 90% to 95% of the gaming population just does not care what weapon nor what armour someone has on.
I see someone with something that causes footfall stuff and I may remark to myself “they have a legendary”. Most times I don’t even say that to myself. Never have I asked which one is it. I don’t pay attention to what armour anyone has so if anyone had legendary I would not even realize it unless they chatted about it in game. I keep changing the dyes on mine own to make it fun for me, others would probably disagree and think that it looks horrible since I pick greens, pinks, purples, oranges, etc.
4 yrs or so after the game came out and you are just discovering this?
Really it’s what ProtoGunner just wrote
You already own it. There are no monthly fees to play the game you already bought. So ….. why not jump back in and try it out? It will cost you nothing and honestly no matter what anyone else writes only you can decide if you will like it.
I prepaid $100 for the expansion and have been fine with everything they have done. I am enjoying all parts of the game. Well, except for the PvP. I just don’t get into PvP. I do play the WvW and PvE parts thou and enjoy all the maps.
If I log into the last one played and I don’t feel like playing that one today then I move the tools over to the shared slots, of which I save 3 empty just for that. Then I log into the char I do want to play and then double click to have them appear right where they can be used. Takes just a minute or so to do.
Since we can no longer have cats in real life (other half is horribly allergic) then having some in game makes me amused. Playing just last nite and harvesting in the sylvaria home instance I took a few minutes out just to laugh and smile at the one playing with the snowballs. Felt good to just laugh at something amusing like that!
The pokemon argument applies here
there are like 80 pokemon you want to use, but you can only carry 6
now, then, what was the point of the other 74?
Because not everyone wants to use the same 6. Others will use different ones depending on what is needed to fight for each gym. I take stock of whats on the gym and then decide which of the 6 I want to use. Options are good and we will have more options with more elites.
This has been a thing for quite a while now. It was annotated in the notes and descriptions of the game that parts would not be available right away and that you would have to wait a few days for the whole game to be available. We all had to go thru the waiting game to be able to access everything.
It’s still wrong. It makes no sense, I know it was in the disclaimer and I can still complain about it. It’s a bad policy and I have the right to complain about it.
I play many MMO’s I also have a ps4 and not once other then here have I had to wait after paying for a game. I was advised to post here so I am
I live full time in an RV and travel around. The SMS makes me put in a code quite often to verify it is me every time I hit a new area of the states. I don’t complain about the extra step because it keeps my account and password connected to it just a little bit more secure.
As for playing games … I have been playing MMO’s and online games since the BBS days. I would rather a company keep things secure and if that means putting a code in often or waiting 3 days to get to use parts of the game then so be it.
I have been on the end of having to call every place connected with a card where the number was stolen. It’s not easy nor fun. My other half won’t use one particular gas station as she had to go thru a new card and everything that entails twice in less than 6 months. Someone had put a card reader on the gas pumps multiple times.

The Devs were asked a few years ago if they ever put Easter Eggs in their game for players to find. Their response was “We try but Dulfy and all her helpers find them all very fast!” They were not mad about the stuff being found fast but amused that the community comes together to help each figure things out.
Played/playing GW1 and never paid attention to the story and had loads of fun playing
Playing GW2 and still have never paid attention to the story and still having loads of fun playing.
So the story is only as important as you want it to be.

With GW and GW2 if real life intrudes and I can’t play for awhile or for some reason I want to take a break then I don’t feel like I have fallen behind with gear or anything. I enjoy not chasing the latest, greatest gear or new level. I really don’t feel like I have to play to keep up with a game. Real life does that enough.
Like right now, real life has me dealing with 2 claims adjusters for the RV and the car since the tow bar broke and the car hit the RV. I am also helping to make sure a friend can get to and home from a surgery. I also have to figure on where to get the vehicles fixed and can they get fixed in time for me to make it across the US to take the granddaughter to Space Camp.
I play games to escape the hectic real life that never goes away. I don’t want a game to be as hectic as real life.
@Astralporing – If you are leveling a new character it will show your characters level until you hit 80, then it will show mastery level. I don’t know why, but this is what they decided to do.
Because you don’t start mastery point gathering until you are level 80. So therefore showing the current level until you hit 80 and then showing your mastery points makes sense
We have not been told when the next expansion is coming. So waiting is all up to the individual.
Actually, we have been told…in the latest AMA:
Episode 5 – today
Episode 6 – 2 to 3 months from today
Expansion 2 – 2 to 3 months from Episode 6 (with a bit of wiggle room)
Living World Season 4 Episode 1 – 2 to 3 months from Expansion 2 launch (again with some wiggle room)Good luck.
Sorry, did not get to watch it as I was dealing with a car that got tore off a hitch and kissed the back of the RV. 2 claims and still have to wait another 1 1/2 days till we can get an estimate on damages. No one was hurt but still … talking to the insurance company and telling them at least 3 times in detail what happened is annoying.

I think Steam takes about 30% of each transaction. At least that was the last number given by others. So not sure if it’s the real number or close but I would guess it’s probably very close.
Keep your old chars as the birthday gifts you get are per char and not per account. So if you make a new char then on it’s birthday you get the 1st yr gifts while the 3 or 4 yr old char will get that yrs gifts
So everyone looked for the definition for Flashpoint but did anyone try looking for the definition for “penultimate”?
Just in case you were wondering:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/penultimate
Definition of penultimate
1: next to the last the penultimate chapter of a book
2: of or relating to the next to the last syllable of a word a penultimate accent
So only one more chapter after the May 2nd …….. Wonder what’s next after that? Another season or ?
If someone doesn’t mean what they say then why say it? Say what you mean.
It’s all part of Marketing 101. What they do with the TP is exactly what real stores do. It works and has worked since selling things began thousands of years ago. Why mess with what works?
Hitting F12 will allow you to log out OR go to the char screen
This might help explain what is going on with the material storage:

I listen to my own opinion from playing the game myself. Does not matter what anyone else decides they like to not. I like what I play and no one can tell me something is wrong or terrible or bad about it if I enjoy it.
So if you like it and there’s absolutely no chance of him changing your mind, where’s the harm in listening differing opinions? How do you even know what he said if you didn’t listen to it?
So nope sorry not gonna listen to someone’s opinion, it’s theirs and theirs alone.
I don’t know how old you are, but this is bad recipe for reality. Humanity would still live in caves if we didn’t exchange opinions.
I am 50 and a grandmother. I have been playing online games since the BBS days. Learned a long time ago that no one elses opinion in gaming is better than mine own. If I don’t like it then I don’t play it, simple as that. There are games the oldest son plays and loves and tries to get me to play, I try them and don’t like them so don’t play them after the first time. My opinion is mine and mine alone and no one else can change my taste in games.
Life on the hand I will listen to opinions but not in games as games are not part of reality. They are there to waste time and to relax, at least for me.

It was free if you just logged into the game when the episode went live. When the next episode was released it then became that you have to pay. Normal MMO stuff.
And you can’t do do the current Living World story without having the HoT expansion so in effect the current Living World story is also part of HoT so it’s not quite done yet.
How many other games have you all played? Every game that I have played has always had an inventory “problem”. Gamers have been complaining about inventory issues since games have been played. Including the old DnD paper and pencil games way before we could play MMO’s on computers.
But is it really a Bass cuz Southsun calls it a Tuna. :o
It looks more like a Yellow jack, the same kind of fish that you use as bait to catch sharks.
and yes it looks amusing, I probably won’t buy it but my wife is thinking really hard about getting it, lol
Again – How does this NOT describe Guild Wars 2?
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fantasy

Come back into the game to find out for yourself how populated it is. That’s my advice. You already own the game, play it to see.

I just payed 20$ for HoT is that too much? Did not played the game since beta… What’s the desired price to make it appeal?
I prepaid $100 for the Ultimate version and I did not think I paid too much. I still don’t think I paid too much. I found it to be on par with any other MMO with expansions out there for the price.
It’s all subjective on what you consider a fair price for what you got.
Hmmmm
What would be your guess for this years April 1st joke? I have loved everyone so far all the way back to the ones in GW1. So not sure what would be fun to do or play now. Maybe something the Aviator thing again? Maybe switch genders again? Maybe switch professions this time? How about stick figures again?
Here are the ones from past years for GW2

Rather than make a new thread, how early do they announce an upcoming HOT 50% sale? Everyone is saying April, will it be April 1st and will they let us know beforehand? I am definitely going to be buying it.
April 1st has it’s own stuff going on.
OFF TOPIC —- I wonder what will happen this time for April 1st?
The LS3 is also not accessible without having Heart of Thorns – the expansion. You can get access to the episodes for later but cannot play them without HoT
Really? I play pretty much every day for several hours at a time and I see massive numbers of players still playing in PvE and WvW.
It’s called OCD. Sometimes it’s just “I have to complete this!!” or it can be a lot worse for some.
I had a friend who had a sign at her desk that said “You say Obsessive Compulsive like it’s a bad thing” I have OCD somewhat. I know I do. I just try not to let it take over and so far I am doing a pretty good job I think, lol.
Nope, they are already said no for this. Too many things hinge on race when you start and to change race later means lots of things mess up.

Those are the 2 sites I use most often for information. I am sure there are others.
Why should you access any place that is part of the LS without having that part unlocked? You should not be able to access the events to go with the LS part that you don’t have.
They have communicated:

and

Anytime after 9am Seattle time up to 5pm Seattle time. So any minute now we should have the download.
This is pretty much already in the game. If you are in a party the dots show up on the map already.
There is no “normal” quests with the ! over someone’s head. You find events (quests) as you move thru the world. They pop up and if you leave the area they go away. They are repeatable. Hearts are not repeatable in most of the world.
You get XP from pretty much everything – harvesting, raising a PC or NPC, exploring, doing hearts, doing events, etc. There is no right or wrong way to play. As long as you are having fun that’s all there is.
I like all the different versions of LA. Each has pros and cons, more pros then cons.
We get new players into the game all the time. Some stay and some go but they are still new players that are just starting out that need those materials from those “useless” karma merchants. Which to the new players are not useless.
