Both are good. I just not really sure which role you want to be in.
Seems your are more interested in WvW, so try checkign the WvW forums.
Thief thought have a greater learning curve than warrior, because the role they act.
To a very roughly comparison, thief is more like hit big damage and run, while warrior is “go there, take hits/condition for the team while we kill”. very rough comparison.
In PVE warrior can be a offensive-buff machine with moderate damage, while thief is responsible for mitigate damage(blinds), stealth to make the party skips monsters unharmed with High damage.

Are they all warpy and twisted?

As above said, dont rush, enjoy the ride, there stickies in the forums with the most common question as well guides on some players signatures but dont feel afraid to ask, just remember to be polite and open minded
Second is abandon stereotypes (light classes must be healer, heavy classes tanks, medium dps blablabla) and you will save yourself from future frustration.

Blinds (Urban Fractal example)
Stealth (Skip in Maw or Molten Furnace/Door in dredge fractal)

Well with a black lion chest you can salvage the runes. The rest grind some Cof/Arah/CoE for zerk gear and/or money.

staff guards.
I bet anyone here can prove with numbers a worst build in damage and/or support, but the staff guards kitten me off so much. Not only its naivety but when you see a staff guard in a lvl 38/49/50 fractal all hope is lost, he gonna range melee bosses, he gonna put wall on melee bosses, he aint gonna use aegis properly but hes gonna brag about his 12stacks of might.

I know, but people in this thread were talking about dodging it and “giving someone one chance to survive without AR” although when I hadn’t had enough AR once I have been insta downed by agony, so that kind of puzzles me.

Final Fractal boss agony (Entering Duo arena, maw contant attacks, may trim enter phase) Yes these are unavoidable, the “dodging” here is to use healing.
Now the first tree bosses fractal agony are inflicted upon damage, that can be dodged(albeit a lot of training may be required).

2) Nothing is really OP, everything can be countered by a good player. If your enjoying Thief/Guard get good on those you will get “Annoying” to others pretty soon.
3) Yes
4) People usually only spam map chat for world bosses or WvWvW tatics.
5) PvE is where the moneys at (Dungeons speed clear) or manipulating the market or Silver Wastes.
6) Yes, jsut by login in every day you win cool stuff. If you manage to play you get mroe stuff, if you manage to complete/win you get even more stuff(PVP reward tracks)
7) Theres plenty of videos of those on youtube. That said there is no OpenWorld pvp, with exception of WvW. on PVP forum you may get more details too.

Extra tip: Enjoy the ride, don’t rush to endgame. The forum search is broken but you can find good info on stickies on the subforums.

– mix sets pieces for maximum fashion.

You can get some skins from crafting, karma at lower levels.
Now truth be told you will be switching gear faster than you can keep up with your transmutation stones.

basically the current dungeon players are not concerned with what works, but with what works best. If Dungeons are going to continue to be a thing the dungeon community needs to expand to encompass players who just want to play some dungeons.

Even if zerk wasnt the thing, they still would only want specific builds, and exclude others.

Expansion is for old Vets. New players have to go all Vanilla content before getting to expansion (pos 80 stuff).

Join a casual guild, create your own LFG with “All welcome, learning..” etc.
Your new to the game and that is awesome! but some people here have being doing this for over 2year, the same dungeon, for some the boss mechanics are so vivid in their brains that they know where exactly how to avoid being hit, so they can transfer their personal defense to offence, thus ending things faster.
The only WRONG thing is not being able to complete the activity, otherwise find like-minded individuals to collaborate with you.
Eventually you will also know stuff and may be inclined to speed stuff up, but dont worry, take your time let it all sink in, youtube/forum may help answer some of your questions, the rest is trial and error :x

Arguing with pugs is as pointless, just converge to their tatics and hope you can finish the dungeon in a reasonable time, otherwise create a guild with like minded people.
