I just use Traveler Runes and still demolish everyone I run into xD Not a big deal, really.
Several attacks can essentially no scope a thief while they are in stealth. I’ve had moments where I have Unloaded on Warrior Rifle and manually targeted with my mouse to try and guess where the thief was and gotten successful kills with it. I’ve also guessed eviscerates, killshots, and True Shots(Dragonhunter) on Thieves and Mesmers as well.
Not sure if it’s the same thing you’ve experienced though.
Just gimme the Thief or Mesmer Auto Attack anims with Revenant effects and I’m good.
I use dual swords and its a lot of fun. Most people use shield since its pretty much a third heal skill, and therefor a get out of jail free card, but grasping shadows can go through that making it a counter. Having the cc + a block you can use while moving makes it a pretty underrated weapon.
Both the Immob and Skill 5 on Offhand sword could use some improvement tbh BUT I use Dual Swords as well and love it just for the block even if the other skills are a little unreliable. Thing is that I actually use Base Revenant and like it way more than Herald so Off-Hand Sword is the best offhand available to me.
I think the hand glow should only be there when you’re in combat, to be honest. Other than that, it doesn’t bug me as much. Just a little.
I’d be glad with the AA being sped up a bit and the number 3 interrupting the AA automatically without having to stow weapons.
Yeah if they make Flanking Strike more responsive S/D would definitely be a lot better. I do still think that larcenous should remove 2 boons though also aoe blind on Cloak and Dagger should be baseline. There’s no reason not to in the current meta where everyone craps out AOE.
Coming from a Sword/Dagger Thief where Auto Attack was most of my DPS, Revenant is a natural transition for me. I actually did my first Vale Guardian kill today and while despite most of my skill usage was mashing 1, there was a lot of micro management for me in making sure I could use my Chaotic Release, Staff 5, and Jade Winds for break bars while also getting off some clutch rezzes with Impossible Odds+Infused Light and popping my Glint heal to be able to soak up damage while rezzing in aoe fields.
I honestly didn’t find Revenant much different from my Fractal Thief running Sword/Pistol and spamming 3 or my Warrior hitting Hundred blades and Arcing Slice when they’re off cool down then spamming 1.
Not yet. Maybe someday though
I did some maths and Vicious Lacerations does give you better overall DPS but as MrHarses mentioned, there is a delay before you start getting the benefit from it. If you can snare an enemy though and start wailing on them with Impossible Odds, they take quite a significant amount of bonus damage.
I feel like Ferocious Strikes would be better if you were running Mace as your second weapon set as you would get the bonus on both your weapon sets. Vicious Lacerations works better for a quick burst whereas Ferocious Strikes would let a hybrid build squeeze out some extra dps via crit damage.
But why? Wouldn’t it be the same as say stealing to a target on Thief? I’m not saying that it should stick to your character as he bounces back and forth between enemies during UA. I’m saying it should stick to the first enemy you cast UA on and follow him so that when UA is over, you can appear right next to him knowing what sort of situation is waiting for you.
Been thinking about this for a while but the way that the camera functions when you use Unrelenting Assault is a bit… well… bad. The camera locks into your character’s last place while your character sticks to an enemy target meaning that if the enemy walks into a crap ton of aoe or a location unfavorable to you that is too far from where your camera currently is, you will suddenly appear there not knowing all the punishment you’re about to take.
Basically what I’m saying is that I think the camera should stick to the enemy you cast Unrelenting Assault on and follow them so that when Unrelenting Assault ends, you know what kind of situation you’re about to pop in to. This is more of a Quality of Life thing than a buff/bug, imo.
It’s the funniest thing too. No joke, I’ve had a few select players blame me for the loss, even when the end-game results show a close matchup with myself as the highest contribution and themselves near zero.
You won’t believe the trash playing meta professions that lose the game more, Emerald is a gold-mine of ego-tripping baddies.
Keep an eye out for DHs staying off point auto-attacking with LB and call them out, keep an eye out for Chronomancers not staying on a kitten point after just getting it.
People are awful, just the worst lol!
Yeah some people just run meta builds and think that it will make them good lol… I killed a Dragonhunter on a base thief last night and I think he quit life after that.
I think vault should cost 8 initiative because it deals damage as against Infiltrator’s Arrow! Even 6 ini is too OP!
For real though, I think backstab could use something but not a damage buff, I don’t like to see too many nuke abilities in any game generally.
It could steal a boon (and maybe deal extra dmg if no boon is stolen?), penetrate armor as stated above, STEAL HEALTH.
Yo, I think Tarkan is on to something here. What if instead of backstab getting a direct buff, it leeches hp? This would help our sustain and also apply lifesteal damage that would make Backstab hit harder. If this were to happen, making it have the sigil of leeching effect would be amazing. Would hit for about 1k damage and heal for about 1.2k or so.

Stop whining about stupid things , racial skills for real? Most unneeded skills ingame and anet said they don’t intend to change this . If all you care about is being uniqe just ran as jail ventari with staff hammer, for most rev suit the game pretty well, what rev need is buffs to jail and staff mace skills . Also plz finish our water skills and our down skills
Despite the topic, the OP actually has some extremely valid points, unlike someone here who’s whining about other people giving constructive criticism and nothing more.
Invocation is a good line, but for some strange reason, it doesn’t has a minor trait that -CD on legend swap, or decrease energy consumption of skills by 2, or anything related to the Revenant’s core mechanic.
Ranger has pet swap -CD
Warrior has fast-hand.
Ele has attunement swap -CD
Guardian has Virtue -CD
Necro has LF generation speed increase.
Thief has steal -CD
Mesmer has illusion skills -CD
Engineer has tool belt -CD.Revenant has… Swap legend break stun + fury?
Does that really counts?
They didn’t want to make Invocation seem necessary for Revenants to run how they did with the other classes seeing as Revenant was already limited in customization with skills being bound to legends. Personally, Energy consumption and weapon swap times are fine, to be honest. Energy management becomes second nature after a while.
The reason those types of energy consumption and legend swap reduction traits don’t exist is because they aren’t needed.
I think in terms of build making, Revenant is actually kinda good right now. Has about 3-4 viable pvp builds as far as I’m aware which is actually really good. As well as a solid Raid build in DPS Herald, with potential for Support if we can get Ventari improved.
It would be interesting if they did add a 4th utility for Revenant but Racial skills and energy consumption stat are not needed. Racial skills are horrible.

Wait. Why do we need to nerf Mallyx? I’ve stomped condi Revs over and over on my Dual Sword Shiro/Glint set that has zero condi cleanse :o I’ve also stomped them on Daredevil, Reaper, Ranger, etc.
Only thing OP about it is when UA bugs out and leaves me standing in their aoe fields unable to do anything :S That and offhand shield which is fine on its own but that trait has got to go.
Just because everyone is bandwagoning Mallyx right now, doesn’t mean it’s broken though.

Play how you want has become play our way or go away.I will hang around for a wile in the hopes that anet will suffer financial repercussions from the player base in relation to this total change in the games direction from all inclusive to elitists only.
1)If you really want the legendary armor, I don’t see why working for it is a bad thing.
2)You saved up 11,000 gold for legendary armor but don’t want to spend a little while looking up videos and guides of how to beat the raid bosses then going out and doing it?
3) Legendary armor is cosmetic ONLY. It offers no stat advantage that Ascended can’t give. The only benefit is stat swapping that you can simply do with 2 sets of Ascended gear.
Therefore, the only thing Anet is locking people out of is a set of armor skin that isn’t going to give you any significant advantage or completely enhance your playstyle.
The disappointment of no balance patch today got me thinking of what kinds of buffs I’d like to have on BASE Thief. Two things that wreck Thieves are AOE attacks and CC’s which other classes can shrug off like nothing while still keeping a ton of damage while Thieves have to be on super high alert at all times as one random CC can end you.
So I’m thinking these are three reasonable buffs that I think should help bring Thief to a more comfortable spot in team fights.
1)Have Resilience of Shadows in Shadow Arts line apply 1 stack of Stability every time the reveal buff is applied to you in addition to the current 25% damage reduction while in stealth. If I recall, I think there was a trait like this back in the day. It would be nice for the Stealth based playstyle of Deadly Arts to actually have some way of continuing the pressure after being revealed either intentionally or by force.
2)Have Endless Stamina in Acrobatics line give you 25-30% reduced damage if an enemy is not directly targeting you in addition to the vigor buff. Similar to the minion buffs for Necros which lets them take less damage if not being targeted directly, this would help the evasive style a LOT as it’s supposed to be a brawler type of playstyle but gets rekt by random AOEs dropped everywhere which makes keeping the pressure on enemies extremely challenging in the current meta for such a squishy class.
3)Cloak and Dagger NEEEEEEEDS blind to be baseline especially in the current meta where landing it is super high risk. Where’s the reward? Going down in stealth so you can see up the enemy’s man skirt?
What do you guys think? What would you guys like to see? Let’s let our wishful thinking ease our frustration, hopefully.
1v1 against a door maybe. It’s only good in WvW if you’re alone… running in empty space. Otherwise, any other class is a better bet now.
Really? Cuz I rarely lose a 1v1 on my Daredevil and my MMR is high enough to get matched against Chaith and Caed. So unless by some cosmic coincidence every single enemy I’ve killed on DD is bad, I doubt DD is only good for door dueling.
Daredevil isn’t as amazing as other specs but it still has its merits, budd. But I do think that Daredevil doesn’t bring much to team fights so yeah other classes are better than it in high tier pvp.
They could have put the trolling even further and have one of the collections require the success of the same event.
That would have been fun. Two groups of players, trying to work against each other in bloody (yet non-combative) competition.
(Consensual) open world PvP confirmed!
Calm down there Satan
LOL. I hope my Flameseeker Prophecies precursor doesnt have that crap >.>
It’s fun in PvE… for everything else it’s now a running joke.
Daredevil is still good for 1v1 and WvW, just not very effective in team fights unless you have some sort of support specced player making the Daredevil unkillable.
Also UA is still heavily bugged. Got 14 stacks of torment applied to me as I did UA on a Rev who cast Unyielding Anguish and every single tick of torment stuck to me…
Is Eye for an Eye supposed to be undodgeable? Because whenever I use Surge of the Mists against another Revenant. It interrupts the skill and taunts me :S If not, then I believe that is a bug.
Ye Mantra is going through a lot.
Edit: And steal. It seems like instant cast CC problem? I managed to break another Thief’s Pistol Whip with it and now they are doing it to me lol. Sucks to be PW spammers.
That would explain why a Mesmer was able to interrupt my Riposting shadows on Revenant :o Strange
That warhorn. Very S&M.
Remember, my safeword is ap
…apples.
/sniffle
Still miss you, Tybalt. ;;_;;
Why’d you have to bring up those feels? Q.Q
I’m so glad you aren’t in charge of GW2.
Oh then I guess it’s a good thing my Revenant can still have massive amounts of sustain with Shield 5 and the Shield trait and allow me to make a kitten ton of mistakes and recover with relative ease all while not losing out on any DPS and letting me prolong a fight for ages. You know… because that’s totally balanced.
Let’s not forget my Hammer 2 on Revenant that can annihilate targets in 1-2 presses of the skill which is on a short cooldown at long range. I’m sure glad I can stand off to the side and spam one skill that has no tell and nuke targets easily. What’s that? Rangers can do that too? Nah, they suck. Their 2 hard hitting ranged skills are channeled and on a bigger cooldown.
Shiro itself is not overpowered. However, it offers insane utility in conquest that makes it simply outstanding in PvP. Think about it. It gives insane mobility that rivals even thief. It has INSANE survivability with Glint/Shiro due to the combination of blocks and dodges. It is true that they lose a lot of sustain if they switch to Malyx Revenant but that trade off is insane amount of boon rip and condi damage.
Nerfing Shiro would hurt revenant in some aspects while keeping the core of the build you are trying to run viable. For instance, if you run Malyx/Shiro you will still have insane amount of damage but it will identify your role similar to reapers’. If you run Glint/Shiro you will still be really strong in survivability as you maintain the blocks.
Nerfing shiro would not totally remove Revenant from the meta, rather it will simply hurt its mobility in teamfights, res/cleave power, etc.
I dont even know why im even arguing here…man rev needs a nerf..asap.
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about, to be honest. You’re saying that the other legends would be more viable if you nerf the only viable one? That makes no sense.
Yeah Shiro’s not really OP. I’m saying this as someone who both uses and fights against Revenants on other classes regularly. The reason everybody uses Shiro is not because it is OP but because the other legends aside from Glint are just a little subpar. Mallyx in particular needs a stunbreak imo. I absolutely hate that I can’t run Shiro/Mallyx without losing a ton of stuff from Glint.
The only thing I find OP with Revenant right now is Shield 5 combined with Shield Trait. It gives you ridiculous amounts of sustain and lets you tank a point very well even on a squishy build.
Dude, it’s totally marking your place in the Flameseeker Chronicles.
It’s a bookmark XD
If ur asking for complexity then warr isnt really any better. Both rev n warr have their cds to time, so since warr was used as an example ill have to disagree.
This. Warrior doesnt feel much better. It’s usually just: Hundred Blades, Whirlwind Attack, Auto Attack till HB is off cd, repeat. At least if you want to keep might going for your party.
Well… that explains a lot ._. FIX THEM BUGS DANGIT!
I’m having a blast on Daredevil too. I’m having a ton of success fighting condies with that evade trait and shadowstep cleansing. Also, that 10% damage staff trait is completely not mandatory. I deal plenty of damage running DA/Tr/DD with Scrapper runes and I have pretty kitten good survivability too. I fight Revenants, Dragonhunters, Reapers, and Chronomancers regularly and only lose when I get +1’d or if I mess up real bad like not landing a steal at a critical point in the fight. Other than that, I make mince meat of almost everything I come across. I think Daredevil is fine tbh. Once the balance patch comes, if the other specs get toned down a bit, I think we’ll be doing even better and maybe even make meta again.
If you want to complain about something, complain about base Thief. While you can still use it to some degree of success, it gets outclassed by everything.
Yo, I want a GS for Revenant too! Though I would love to see it as a condi or hybrid weapon. We’d be the only class in the game with condi viable GS
revenants needs to be nerfed as they are sustainable as hell!
and thats coming from a main revenant player
I kinda agree to an extent. That shield trait needs to be removed or the healing on it needs to be cut down a bit. Playing off hand shield is so forgiving when fighting anything other than a reaper. You can make a lot of mistakes and recover so easily. Other than that, Glint heal is only strong if you manage to time it well which takes really good prediction and baiting which I think is part of the skillful play. At least on 1v1 against a good player. Inexperienced ones will never stop attacking haha. But fighting other Revenants on my daredevil, I really dont have an issue with Revenant sustain unless theyre using shield. Even Unrelenting Assault isnt an issue anymore due to everyhing else getting buffed.
I play meditation dragonhunter actually. With Shield of Courage, wings of resolve, renewed focus, and meditation healing, I have a ton of survivability. I’ve seen the meditrapper builds that are meta right now too and they have even more survivability than my build which I already have success with so yeah. Besides if dazes are a bit strong on DH, Auramancer tempest is way worse on my list. On that much we agree. Im not even complaining about the traps themselves. Hell if the dazes could just be blocked, that would be fine with me…. But unblockable easy dazes are ridiculous.
Lol this idiot wants to nerf trap daze which is one of the most important aspects to a DH and what gives it decent cleave and replace it with 25% movement speed which only pvers will benefit from. Go watch the pro leagues or something and see how DH’s struggle against all the cele bruiser and sustain classes, and you want to remove CC’s and good cleave from a burst class? Gtfo.
And this idiot thinks that because some baddies in the pro league lost due to the other teams being so obviously better than them, that makes DH totally underpowered. Daze on traps is completely unnecessary when you have so many other things going for you…
DH does have a lot of counter play and I think it’s actually pretty balanced but I’ve said it many times in this forum and I’ll say it again. The only real issue, I think, is the unblockable daze trait on trap activation. It’s so ridiculously strong against melee players. I really think the daze should be applied baseline to one of the traps(I’m thinking the one that stun breaks), and the daze portion of the trait should be replaced with Hunter’s Determination so that when you’re cc’d you still drop a trap. Then you can replace the Hunter’s Determination trait in the Master line for 25% movement speed increase.
See, like that both parties win. DH suddenly isn’t kitten full melee classes anymore by interrupting their blocks so easily and Guardians also get something they’ve been wanting forever.
How does nerfing something that’s not broken and adding something that’s irrelevant make anyone at all happy?
Easy access to unblockable dazes that kitten anything not covered in stability doesn’t seem broken to you? These things interrupt blocks and give you a kitten ton of point control. Let’s not forget combined with 4s true shots means that if you run out of evades(which you will against a DH), you’re screwed. With all the amazing tools Dragonhunter got, I think dropping a daze trait on traps seems totally reasonable.
remember when they said mending would become a physical skill but they just nerfed it to cure less condis?
yeah, don’t expect love from anet
Mending is so terrible. It feels more like a bad racial skill than an actual Warrior healing skill. When I heard they were making it a Physical, I was so happy. Finally, I didn’t have to run healing signet and could get some decent condition cleanse on a relatively short cooldown allowing me to come up with some new and interesting builds…. but…. nope!
Anet didn’t buff Mending and didn’t buff Withdraw on Thief either… which are healing skills belonging to two classes that need a bit of love in the current meta.

The only real problems I have with off hand sword is that grasping shadow is incredibly unreliable. I have a really hard time landing that thing and when I do, sometimes it doesnt even pull the target all the way towards you. Second is that shackling wave needs a range increase. The shackling wave effect makes it appear further than it actually is so it’s often hard to judge where you can immob a guy or not.
Here is a build I came up with. Haven’t tested it yet as I’m still acquiring all the gear but on paper, it seems pretty good. Basically, it will allow you to push out plenty of healing while also maintaining a decent amount of damage output therefore fitting the offensive support role. Ventari is for pure healing and go into Glint to deal out damage by stacking might and fury. As I said though, I haven’t tested it yet so I’m sure there are some things that could be tweaked but I think it looks pretty good right now.
Well tbh i went to wvw and runned into 20 man zerg. Casted UA and dindt recived any hit once. There is something off with the evade not playing properly. Some fields apply condi and that is the interesing part.
It’s usually when theres a lot of stuff flying everywhere, fields especially make this happen more often than not for sure.
Probably was due to Riposting Shadows have a split second activation time. Seems like the mantra hit at just the right time and interrupted it.
True shot is not the issue. It’s the traps xD I can dodge 4 out of 5 true shots even when a DH +1’s me in a fight, the issue is getting all my skills interrupted by facerolling the trap skills on a point.
Just playing PvP, enemy team attempts to stealth gank me. Engi immobs, I hit Riposting Shadow, animation begins, and a Mesmer interrupts what’s supposed to be an evade with their mantra…
I love Revenant but so many things about it are so buggy right now that it does get a little frustrating at times.
My face when it happened
(edited by Rain.9213)
Yeah Burn Guards are still good. In fact, a lot of the old meta builds are still very viable including D/D Ele, Axe/Shield+GS Warrior, Celestial Rifle Engi, Celestial Signet Necro, etc, etc. It’s just that everybody’s playing the new hotness right now which are the elite specs so you’re not seeing the old builds very often.
I’ve actually been running Berserker in PvP and I’ve had pleny of success with it. However, what sucks is that the only build I’ve been having success with has been Gun Flame Rifle sniper warrior.
That theory makes a lot of sense and could also explain why unlike every other channeled skill in game UA breaks on stealth (when obviously channeled abilities were meant to be a counter to stealth). Howered as far i rebember my evade on ua broke that time, dindt made full ss but i took also a hit from illusionary rogue that killed me before the last hit of ua. Weird stuff.
Interesing enough i dont get blinded from vet scouts blind field during phase smash unlike UA.
I believe since Phase Smash is only one skill, it has evade frames throughout the entire duration of it until it’s over while UA seems to be coded to act as multiple skills which would explain why confusion procs damage on each strike as well as why you are momentarily vulnerable after each hit.
