Thanks for this post. There have been many people who have requested something like this, and I don’t want you guys to think we are not listening. We have been, and currently are, exploring what would need to happen in order to make this a possibility (it is more complicated than you would think), and while I cannot guarantee that it will happen or when, we definitely understand the draw of playing activities with your friends are not dismissing this as something that will never happen.

I would think it’s actually pretty easy. Take the clock tower. That was not PvP, and some of the best moments in that event were me doing it with my guildmates. While not necessarily a minigame, it’s the same basic concept. A large area that’s shared where all the players are moving towards the same objective, even without necessarily aiding each other. I also think what set it apart from other JP was the lobby, if you fell you didnt have to go to a waypoint, walk back, fight things along the way, just to possibly fall again; you went back to the lobby and just waited a bit for another shot (Also the thing that was wrong with the aetherblade JP IMO but that’s another topic) Also I considered the SAB to be pretty much a minigame rather than a proper dungeon and it was great fun that wasn’t PvP.

as for the random matchups and team building, we originally asked for that for the toypocalypse for wintersday, so assuming anet has been working on it since then and it’s been over half a year, it must not be that easy to do.

When the other team was camping my base and I was bringing a crystal back, they have never been able to kill me before I reach the spot to turn it in.

Most games people dont even try and play the game, they just try and PvP, all of them being air and all attacking the same person at a time. Not only does my team win but I usually get more kills than their team members by defending our crystal carriers. I go lightning instead of air.

well with so many people seeming to lean evon right now, maybe not. From what i’ve heard in game and on the forums, evon has the lead because of his fractal. People think it’ll be more epic to see the fall of abaddon as opposed to the many possibilities of the thaumanova reactor. They’ve convinced themselves that the thaumanova fractal will suck, even though the people that came up with the ideas for the fractals are more excited about the thaumanova fractal.

If that’s the case then they need to stop being such kittens and tell us why it’s awesome, ‘cause it sounds like crap. They can’t honestly expect many people to vote for it with nothing more to go on than “An Asuran lab blew up!”.

Exactly what i’ve said, you don’t have any frame of reference and have already decided the thaumanova fractal will suck.

The thaumanova reactor is warping the fabric of reality around it, pulling in creatures across space, time, and even other realities. What is powerful enough to do that? Why did it explode? Did it explode? There is no trace of whatever it was. Maybe it just went away and destroyed the lab and whatever it is is still out there.

As a historic event these questions aren’t that interesting. As a progression of the world as it currently exists they are. Solving mysteries of the past doesn’t mean much when we know how it turns out in the end. The weakness of the reactor is that it’s a recent event that doesn’t really have a tangible impact on most of the world – and we can already explore it today. Aside from creatures in random places, it’s fairly irrelevant in the bigger picture. Fractals are limited to replaying past events, they don’t progress the story, they are just cool things that happened and their primary value is visual and gameplay. They are actually poor delivery mechanisms for story, with minimal to no dialogue or story.

The fact that they don’t plan on implementing them both means they have no plans to advance either plot outside of fractals. The primary pull of the reactor isn’t the event itself, it’s the consequences of the event, and that’s not what’s on the table.

The same thing could be said about the abaddon fractal. The event has already taken place and we know the outcome.

From what some anet employees have said on the forums, I assume each fractal will have some effect on the world at large. If we choose the fall of abaddon fractal, we open the gate to a fallen god. If we choose the thaumanova reactor fractal, we open a link to whatever created that energy to every event in the past, present, and future.

I think the thaumanova reactor fractal will have a much longer lasting effect on the world at large.

What I’m saying is an encounter with a god and a war between gods is a guarantee for an awesome visual and gameplay experience. Visually the reactor exists in the game, we’ve seen it so a lot of its appeal is lost on that fact alone. I’m sure they have some cool mobs or partical effects or events that will happen during the fractal, but we have no idea what they are and they are still competing with an actual war between gods. Creatures coming through portals, how can that beat a war between gods on a visual scale?

Yes both fractals are past events, but the primary interest of the reactor is in its story relevance to today’s world. Having it as a fractal does nothing to take advantage of that. The strength of the Abaddon fractal is a visual and epic battle.

Where are you getting that either fractal will have changes in the world today? The gate to Abaddon’s realm is already open, it’s in the Crystal Desert. We opened it and went through it in GW1 (assuming it didn’t close since then). I haven’t read anything from devs saying that we will get anything more than just the fractal itself.

I’m assuming from dev posts on the forums.

The first minigames at halloween had no achievements, and no one would even try them. Even though they were amazing. If I had a nickel for everyone who came in asking what they get from the game, and leaving when we said fun. Obviously anet want people to atleast try the things they worked on for months. I don’t even understand the people that play the game but instead of having fun, have to have everything be efficient.

You can get the achivements in the minigames without the badge on, it’s only regular play you need the button for. Taking that into account that you can get some achievements without the button, i’d assume it’s tokens put in the baskets.

21000 votes… compared to the millions of other people casting multiple votes, does he realize how insignificant his contribution is? What an idiot.

there are 3 million registered copies of guild wars sold, 50% of them probaly dont play anymore or wont participate in cuthroat politics, 20% of that remaining 50% will only put in a handful of votes (less than 10) and more than half (from the public jabber iv heard) are voting for evon aswell……his 21 thousand votes is starting to look somewhat significant afterall!

The 3 million sales figure is 8 months old, your other ‘statistics’ are pulled out of thin air. Even if only 1 million votes were cast (its going to be way more than that), he would only have 2% of the total votes.

Well you know 87% of statistics are made up on the spot.

I think you all misunderstand kiel when she says she wants to return the loot to its owner. It’s not the aetherblades, it’s the pact. Else why would be be stopping the aetherblades from taking the loot if we were just going to give it back to them?

This goes deeper than Evon wanting the loot for his campaign fund. This is about planning.

Kiel is planning for the future, and looking at the bigger picture. That the pact is a good ally to have, and they will put the aetherblade loot to the best use; to fight the dragons that are an enemy to everyone.

Evon is planning for right now, how he can further the current cause at the moment.

Looking passed this election to how they’ll work once they get there. I’d much rather have someone that plans for the future and looks ahead instead of how it’s going right then.

The krait wouldn’t show you the same respect. They enslave, kill, and eat other races and have a sense of superiority over other races. And this isnt just one group of krait, this is every krait I have ever seen. So good, let them die a horrible death in the same way they have forced other people to die horrible deaths. I have no sympathy for the krait.

Actually it used to be like that and anet changed it because it made dungeons less strategic and more, keep running at this boss until it died. Though with really hard bosses like the lovers in AC story, that was almost necessary.

But since then they’ve nerfed those bosses so they arnt so ridiculous so it’s fine.

By that point of doing that mission is was on an alt, so I knew she was going to die. I get that, anet wants to get us attached to a character and then kill them off, giving us a personal drive to fight Zhaitan. Great idea, I loved Sieran. But I would’ve liked a little something to mourn her. She was my partner after all. Thought Sieran is the only one I really got attached to.

Though when the eye of Zhaitan taunted saying Sieran was under Zhaitan’s influence. That’s a lie. Lorewise sylvari are immune to becoming risen, and I assume branded and ice brooded(?) as well.

you spoiled the game Mesmers, just because it beats you in pvp?

In pve because of you, the Mesmers become useless …

same in wvw!you guys nerfed everything that is good or viable in zergs and anet keeps listening to all the qq about spvp!i dont care about spvp and never will, but now anet balances spvp and wvw the same and it should not be treated that way at all. bye bye condition builds in wvw.

in wvw u wont manage to keep phantasms up long enough to get all 3 up. there is arrowcart, trebs, catas, ballistas and an insane amount of conditions. our condition has been nerfed to the ground, because of qq and now other classes are op with no viable counter for us.

i dont even like the cheesy power phantasm build. i liked condition build, but thanks to people like u it is gone.

spvp ruins my whole game experience in wvw due to 1v1 balancing (torment? great in 1v1= useless in wvw). i used to have soo much fun in wvw, now its a grind and the nerfs are destroying every build out there. i really love this game, but anet keeps ruining the mesmer while not even trying to fix major bugs and inbalances of other classes and siege.all mesmers got over the past patches was nerfs and a few useless buffs at the wrong places. spvp, wvw and pve needs different balancing and therefor different balancing teams.

what really needs to happen to balance this game, is anet needs to split the skills up between Spvp skills and PvE/WvW skills. So PvEers can have our skills, and Spvp get their balance and we dont pay if one build is good for 1v1 that a zerker warrior cant beat it so it has to be nerfed.

So you’re telling me that you want to not only nerf the one build you consider OP, but nerf every build of the class and make the scepter for mesmers completely useless, simply because you don’t like it in PvP. Making the mesmer useless for dungeons, PvE, PvP, and WvW at the same time.

I write this as I sit in your new Kites Over Celadon JP, which you made just about as bad as the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Look Anet, seriously, cut it out with the jump puzzles all ready and listen to your fan base.

Actually that JP has existed in the game since launch.

Your guild does not make up a majority of the playerbase. If you were actually in a large guild you would know that guilds are hard capped at 500 members, so you and your guild and your gf would be 501 people if your guild was full, out of thousands of people.

If you ask in LA map chat or in my guild what most of them think of jumping puzzles, most of them love them, the ones who dont understand you don’t have to do jumping puzzles. Even the clock tower which most people agree is the hardest jumping puzzle in the game to date, most people loved it.

If your gf doesnt have the computer to handle jumping puzzles, stop dragging her to them. and if you keep going back to jumping puzzles enough that you notice a problem, some part of you must enjoy them; else why do you play a game you don’t enjoy? I run a 5 year old computer and have completed every jumping puzzle in the game, and can even run GW2 on decent settings.

I think it would be a interesting stat to add to armor.

Some of the clues in the second part of the book quest as so vague, while others told you exactly where to go with no real thinking involved.

The clock tower while hard, was fun in a way. I like the idea of a timed jumping puzzle.

The Lunatic Inquisition minigame is so fun and i’m very sad it’s going away after halloween. If there is anything I want to keep from halloween, it’s that minigame.
