Never was my thing, I think it may be fun but I was never a too nerdy escapist to role play. Also, I think those are an extreme minority (a couple of percents). Still would be nice if they had at least one server in every region.

I’ve played a few D&D games, it isnt bad but I would think a computer game would be weird. You’re limited by the lore, mechanics, and sometimes bad writing. In D&D you get a lot of the basic lore so you have a lot of stuff you can base your character off of, and you’re not kept from some things that they decide to tell you later like anet might (atleast when you’re making your character.) Also you have a human running the game in D&D which allows it to be more adaptable than a computer game.

You’re not only your character when RPing, but you don’t do things your character wouldn’t do.

So while I might go out and kill a moa in queensdale as i’m walking by just because. As an RPer your character would have no reason to do that, so you don’t do that. So there would be no champ farming (That would be metagaming), no killing random mobs, and maybe even no world boss farming. I’m not sure exactly what’s taboo in the GW2 RP community as I am not a part of it.

Yes as you tag more mobs you get more loot but you also reach the diminished rewards cap more quickly as it’s time you spend in one spot or number of mobs you’ve killed in that place.

The amount the hurts your chances of finding a precursor only anet knows.

So I thought of another question. If I get one of the items with all weight classes of the same skin, will all the weight classes unlock or do you really want me to get three copies of the same item?

Now that’s just sort of me hoping they’re being sort of nice as of course anet would want me to buy the same item three times from the gem store, but on items like the hellfire gloves do I really have to take three copies out and transmute them into light, medium, and heavy gloves? I actually thought of this because I was looking at the new helmet skin in the gem store today.

Yeah you will get some people but on the other hand, most people arn’t gonna come into DR with “lol rp noobs” because most people arn’t that mean. Besides you can filter your chat to not include map chat so you don’t hear them if they talk because most people use map chat in towns. You can even create separate filters so one chat has map chat, and one doesn’t.

Though the filter to choose what kind of map you want to join is a good idea, you can choose to join an RP and the server just makes a map and puts the people in that selected RP. Hell make a farming category on the filters so farmers can have their own map for people that want to do actual events. That would fix my problems with loot farmers.

Can you guys not get the thread locked about the person trying to get into a larger server, because a mod stupidly decided it belonged in the WvW forum.

They already put in the build you guys. Remember that patch where they said they were putting in the april monthly? They don’t need a patch to roll that over. That was when they put the bobbleheads in. That patch wasn’t big enough for SAB.

Right clicking in the menu will favorite a dye and move those dyes into their own category. That is the best way to find your favorite dyes. Sort by hue…

If you guys just stand there and try to tank damage no class will be able to take it. Even a warrior cant just stand still and take damage. Try not doing that, you might have more success.

Can I just add a passive speed boost? I dont care about anything else. Hell I don’t even need 25% like everyone else, give me 10%.

SAB was clever for last april fools. It would be expected this year, and that’s the opposite of what april fools is about.

No. Server population is based on how many accounts housed are there. It’s not based on how many people are logged on.

Unless they changed something, yes it is. I know you would think it’s based on people in the world in total because it’s called population.

I guess you talk about PvE? You have to keep in mind that the mesmer got a terrible start, since his damage relies a huge part on his traits. The warrior won’t get that much stronger. He attacks the same way with traits and without. The mesmer however changes quite a bit.

Also the mesmer is pretty much about passive damage and phantasm damage. If you can keep up 3 dd phants (iDuellist / iSwordsman / iWarlock) no other class will be able to outdamage you. The mesmer is superior in utlity and support aswell singletarget dmg and survivablity. However he lacks in AoE damage and is forced to use the sword mainly.

Fun fact: In a full buffed lv80 party the mesmers Time Warp will deal approximately 200’000-250’000 damage. Cast time? 0.5 sec. I luv u too

I mainly PvE yes but I can WvW with success too. I don’t pvp really but in the few 1v1s i’ve gotten into while in WvW, I sort of crushed them easily not even a contest.

The most important thing about this game is not if your build is OP, but how you play it. You need to be comfortable with your gameplay because knowing how to play your class is always better than trying to go for the OP builds. If you know your class you can always adapt.

The toes sticking out of boots actually ARE them clipping. Because boots are made for a human foot.

I like the 4th better. Though best use for the zodiac legs i’ve seen yet.

Everytime I read any thread on this forum. I gotta get my build up here on the forum because I feel like I would be doing everyone a great service. The amount of people that complain about mesmer being underpowered is amazing for how powerful the class is.

Yes, you can argue that it’s an artificial circumstance and that it wouldn’t happen ‘naturally’, but at that point you’re not basing your theory on the evidence (as was the case when the theory was first presented) but trying to defend the theory against the evidence, and that’s not how good science is done.

However, to present a litmus test: If the multiple-corruptions-one-body observations in CoE represent artificial circumstances, then it should also be possible for those same artificial circumstances to result in the corruption of a sylvari.

So far, as far as I know, there are no examples of the Inquest having successfully corrupted a sylvari by the same means. And I’m sure they’ve tried.

(I say ‘by the same means’ to allow for the possibility that Scarlet was corrupted rather than simply mentally influenced. However, the existence of the mental block implies that even there there was some deeper protection than a case of ‘sorry, this being has already been claimed by another dragon’.)

We obviously need to lock a few destroyers, icebrood, risen, and branded in a room and see what happens.

Actually though you know what would solve this easily? The sanguinary blade. No one could argue cutting a branded mob with that. Though that’d be interesting for a LS once, the priory tests that and we suddenly get a race of supercharged dragon minions.

The steam creatures are aggressive, she didn’t necessarily need to control them, just send them and they’ll attack anyway.

If you’re looking for healing, mantras are my favorite. You get two charges per cast and you can use them at any time, even during stuns or skill animations without interrupting the skills. So I don’t really have to stop attacking to heal or cure conditions.

Via release, GW2 was far superior in poplarity than ESO, it got better recieved by the majority, it got better recieve by the media and it quickly became the most commercially successful MMO since 2004’s WoW. ESO won’t change any of that, neither will it become close to those milestones and if you really believe they will, be ready for some disappointments.

Why are we talking about ESO so much?
The mmo that I see as the biggest competition is Everquest Next.

Yeah, the funny thing is, ESO is not even on sale in stores (only headstart right now), and he predicts what’s going on in the future.

I know, the hate for ESO is big on this forums, but people do underestimate the impact it can have on the online market.

As always people only see the copies sold that they are impressed by.
I am waiting for the official data of NCsoft for the first quarter of this year. We will see very well, in what state GW2 is by that point.

No people who havent played it yet overestimate it because it has TES name. TESO brings nothing new to the table in terms of gameplay or mechanics and what it does have, other games have already done better.

The reason why we’re talking about TESO is because someone brought it up saying that when TESO came out GW2 would die.

As for entitlement, we all paid money for this game, and for some of us, it’s broken.

Explain to me how a random number generator is broken? Are you a developer? Do you know how they work? Most use a time stamp seed and pass that into a numerical formula, the result is then parsed against the loot table values. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to “flag” accounts that should or shouldn’t get a boost to the drop engine?

Also, when you bought the game, did someone promise you a legendary or precursor as I didn’t see that in the EULA I accepted when installing the game. To that end, how can you expect that you are going to get one or claim the engine is broken.

Read my last point, no one owes you anything when you are dealing with RNG. It would be like arguing that because you spent $500US in a slot machine the casino owes you a mega prize. Good luck with that.

Some time back it was announced here by the dev team that RNG WAS broken and would/was (be)fixed, BUT for many this doesn’t appear to be (true)the case.

It’s not just GW2, it’s everything. I rarely ever get anything.

A hard lesson learned…don’t buy keys, it’s cheaper off the TP.

Maybe but anet should save something like that when they have a cast of likable characters. I like Kasmeer but Marjory is underdeveloped. I don’t even really know the other three.

The nightmare court break a sylvari’s mind all the time. Scarlet had a voice in her head for possibly years. Maybe the dragon couldn’t physically corrupt Scarlet but having the mental influence of an elder dragon in your head might just make you go insane and we already know sylvari arn’t immune to that.

Even if it was something else, the point about it knowing how to wake a dragon is useless as all the dragons are now awake, minus the one that’s dead.

I dont even know what the PU build is, I come up with all my own builds instead of looking on the forums. I use the build i’ve used since launch, and it still works fine too with is rare for any class.

I can run ok in zergs but not at my full potential. Great for solo or group play though.

I understand why, players don’t always know best. But such a weird update to take a stand on. They listened to players on Scarlet, they heard us on Orr but said the reason why they wouldn’t change it. They listened to us on a lot of balance issues, like launch orr (which for the record i’d still like orr to go back to that), but now we’re not dealing with gameplay, we’re dealing with mostly UI updates. It’s odd for them to pick this update to make a stand on.

I do get it, anet probably feels like we’re telling them “Yeah these changes arnt good enough do it right” but we’re not, or i’m not at least. Yeah i’m upset about the town clothes thing but besides that all the changes so far seem good to me. We’re more saying “Most of these changes are good but one or two you should look at again.” We’re just misunderstanding each other.

I wasn’t aware GW2 was EXTREME enough to get the “hardcore” crowd. Please go back to your COD, we wont miss you.

I’m almost certainly being thick, but I have to say I found it really poorly worded about how Pvp and dungeon rewards were linked. Can anyone re-explain it for my benefit?

Dungeon tokens are rewarded from that reward track in PvP. So the CoE reward track gives CoE tokens.

As a non-pvper the system sounds good to me, you work towards the items you want but will we be able to bypass the cost of cultural with PvP?

I sort of skimed the blog because it didn’t really apply to me as a player so maybe that’s been answered and I actually had the some question with the dungeon rewards until I reread that part.

“How much can we screw over our customers before they get kittened enough to stop supporting us” is a bad business model. If anet has someone that says this at their office, fire him, immediately. Anet gets most of their money from the gem store, and we’re the people that have already shown we’re willing to spend money on the gem store.

I’ve said before though, if there is some other reason that anet had to change it, that’s fine but they need to tell us why. Give your customers an actual explanation and maybe we’ll actually understand. But right now it just seems that they just don’t care enough to put in the effort.

They need to do something like announce Quaggan as a new playable race. Something no one actually wants to happen or expects.

Yes that’s an armor skin, so that is what your armor will look like. Just make sure you dont override that skin by transmuting it into another skin, you will never get it back. You could wait until the 15th when the skin wardrobe comes out and then you’ll always have the skin without the danger of losing it.

If you want a legendary then just buy the kitten thing from the TP.

Nothing Legendary about an RNG drop either. It’s either purchased or randomly rewarded for doing nothing special. We need a precursor challenge/hunt to justify the name “Legendary.”

Liadri wasn’t that hard the camera angle just sucked so you could possibly watch the entire battlefield. And as a mesmer I didn’t have the speed to reach the rifts.

If you have veterans as enemies dont use the greatsword, better swap to staff since it has good conditions on lower levels and survivability with skill 2. GS is just good for so called trash mobs. Many normal easy mobs.

As a mesmer that’s very important, it toughens you up. So you can realize the master race that mesmers are.
