Would it be easier if anet made the copper fed salvage kit not recover sigils?
Add a tool tip warning for it and if someone accidentally salvages something important with it… tough kitten, READ THE KITTEN TOOLTIP.
PS… i actually wrote kitten, there were no covered up curse words.
I’d be just as fine with my salvage kit salvaging blue/green sigils/runes/seals. Doesn’t have to be anything epic, could be tied to a once-per-day thing where players craft or go to a special currency vendor for (a choice of | random) rewards.
Is this a gemstore item, and if so how much would it cost? If it’s sold by an NPC vendor, is it infinite or does it have a set number of uses and then you rebuy. Does it cost to use it like the copper fed salvage kit costs?
What are the results for salvaging runes and sigils? Do we ‘reward’ sigil/rune eaters and do we limit it to a set number per day? Does it give a special currency? What can you buy with that currency?
While I agree with the opening sentiment, it needs a fair amount of thought.
This is all I could find on it.
Further down, under the achievements section:
Collections for the unique weapons for each specialization now require bronze in the requisite adventure instead of silver.
Aha! Thanks for finding that.
..I may also have to check my collections to see if credit was retroactively granted. Probably not.
As they only need silver and that you just need a few tries to get it usually (at least for me and many others I know), I think it is fine.
Didn’t they bump the requirement down to Bronze for all of these as part of the Spring Update?
This is all I could find on it.
HEART OF MAGUUMA—ADVENTURES
Adventures are now unlocked more often. They have more forgiving time limits and allow players to more easily reach bronze, silver, and gold completion. They also give more experience for reaching those completion tiers.
Unlocking and Accessing Adventures
The Tendril Torchers and Salvage Pit adventures in Verdant Brink have both been altered to stay unlocked during the entire daytime period.
The Shooting Gallery adventure in Verdant Brink has been altered to be unlocked during most of the day, except when the following events move through the space:
The “Defend the Pact encampment against hylek attacks” event
The “Salvage scrap from the crashed Pact airship for Bongo to reinforce the outpost” event
The “Help Faren train to be a swordsmaster” event
All adventures in Auric Basin will now remain unlocked except during the “Battle in Tarir” meta-event.
The Beetle Feast and Scrap Rifle Field Test adventures in Tangled Depths will now remain available when the chak gerent isn’t present.
Time Limits
Bugs in the Branches: Added 5 seconds to the time limit.
Shooting Gallery: Added 30 seconds to the time limit.
Fallen Masks: Added 15 seconds to the time limit.
On Wings of Gold: Added an updraft near Northgate to make it easier to reach the adventure.
A Fungus Among Us: Changed the time required to achieve a gold ranking to 1 minute and 25 seconds.
The Floor Is Lava?: Added 15 seconds to the time limit.
Haywire Punch-o-Matic Battle: Added 5 seconds to the time limit. Also added a world-map marker in Tangled Depths.
Sanctum Scramble: Changed the time required to achieve a gold ranking to 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
Scrap Rifle Field Test: Added a world-map marker in Tangled Depths.
Rewards
Adventures now give increased experience in their daily bronze, silver, and gold rewards.
The TL;DR of it? Nope.
The spring patch made them more available (a good thing!) and slightly, sort of, loosened some of the scores needs to reach reward tiers.
“The clock is ticking and Tyria is at risk. Hurry along now”
I think the only item a NPC patronised me to the point of almost being offended lol
The only reason he’s offensive is that his race isn’t playable.
Harmph.
Let’s play investigators!
I really wish they’d move her teeheehee brand of sexual harassment away from hearing distance of the bank. It’s like I have no option there.
On one side the Sylvari who won’t stop spewing her greeting monologue lines, and on the other, an eyeroll-worthy dialogue.
So glad I can use the scribe station at the guild hall instead.
Maybe it’s time to throw off the old, no longer accurate CC term and start using a more appropriate term.
Perhaps:
CE – Contol Effects
or
BB – Break BarJust a thought.
Changing the acronym isn’t going to clarify it for inexperienced players. “CE the BB then DPS to win ME lol” isn’t so useful for relaying the information in a way players without much experience in GW2 or MMOs in general.
If one wants the meta to really succeed, have copy/paste instructions at the ready. Those instructions need to be spelled out. Literally.
Yeah. I’ve been learning what my class’s "CC"s are, but It’s really kitten hard to figure out what counts for breaking the Breakbars or not.So far, all I’ve confirmed are Stun and Daze are “CC” skills, but Immobilize and Cripple (The ones I have more access to most of the time) apparently aren’t.
“Soft” CCs like Immobilize and Cripple damage the breakbar like a damage-over-time (DOT) effect. So you still want to throw them out there if your stun/daze/knockdown are on cooldown.
I want Special Charr and Rifles to be a thing.
So, how are the adventures now, after the spring update? Is silver/gold accessible for players that aren’t good at this stuff?
Most adventures didn’t change much. Of the ones that did, I can fail more often now than before, since they are available much more often.
It’s a lot better; it’s just not ‘good’ for people like me who hate adventures.
The access has helped, at least. I can fail quickly until I get just the right bounce, but there’s no way in hell I’m getting Gold in most of them. Getting Silver on Sanctum Scramble was at least a half hour of snarling.
The reason: GW2’s collision and terrain development does not support the sort of platforming they designed for. I get stuck on imperceptible hitches in the terrain or fall off things for no reason, and then it’s a 2-minute reset to get to where I was.
Add on frustrating glider lag, and even Silver is hard enough to get with some of them.
Thanks for the Spoil-Eir alert! :p
Agh! Got me on that one. XD
Another thought…. I’m not a broom or carpet guy, but a skateboard. Yes, I’d buy one. It would work just like the broom. No animations needed. Have the character stand in the standard “in combat” stance but without weapon. You’re still running everywhere but now it looks so much cooler, especially when you “ride” off a cliff and switch to glider. xD
And then we’d get YouTube videos of people popping sick tricks, grinding rails in Divinity’s Reach, and other skating jargon in jumping puzzles.
Yeah, I’d buy that. XD
With more items like broom/carpet and a shared inventory slot, I can see a market for utility mounts. Make an original buyable as an in-game item (10g? 100g?) and sell other versions in the gem store.
It’d be a mild power creep, but also a solid QoL increase and it would open up PvE build selection. No using ‘mount’ items in WvW/PvP or in combat, obviously.
(Shouldn’t this have been merged already? >.>)
I’m delighted too ! Well done to all of the Anet team. Someone was right – the patch notes were just like reading a good book :P
Oh btw – you’ve made lots of Warriors happy with the changes !
P.S – we still need a small ( 10 second ) reduction of the cooldowns on our stances. Endure Pain and Berserker Stance -utilities only. TY !
Not happy enough, but I was glad to see Physical and Stance skills get some much needed cooldown improvements. Still no synergy enough to break FG/PS or elevate traits for mace/hammer, but that’s for other threads.
On topic, I was out and about in Magus Falls, and I dare say it felt much better. It wasn’t just the rewards (which are much better, thanks!), but the open access that encouraged more participation. Still giving things a poke, but thanks to the ANet team for setting many things right.
Certainly not going to complain about some extra gold in my pocket, but it reading that in the patch notes did have me concerned that J.Smith got beaned in the head and locked in a closet. I hope he’s okay.
I have to wonder what impact the dungeon switch is going to have. Is that achievement once per day or just continuous? A 5-gold bonus on a set of dungeons that’s just going to be speed-run is going to faucet a lot of gold into a smaller number of hands.
I have 4 accounts now. If I do the dailies on each and include the log in bonuses, that’s about 7000 gold a year, or ~578 gold a month.
Not bad.
Four accounts. o-O
That’s hours of GW2 every day to get that money. I can say you’ve earned it.
It still requires 30 Hero Points to unlock, so a boosted 80 character isn’t going to have enough points to do it right away. Do some world completion or hit up HoT zones to get started.
Because let’s just forget that warriors have
Mace main
Mace offhand
Axe offhand
HammNever getting any love.
The best we saw were a few token cooldown reductions to Hammer. While it’s appreciated (in light of Revenant/Engi hammers..), the traits for mace and hammer don’t work with the actual weapons at all, unless you have a pocket thief with phasers set to Head Shot. So we’re still going to see either the range game with bow/gun because survivability still isn’t top priority, or more FG/PS spam.
Oh look, no changes to usability for Mace or Hammer traits.
Still not enough synergy in Warrior traits overall.
And Banners still nerfed.
Glad to see some Stance cooldowns and Physical skills get some much needed improvement.
At least I have the Quick Breathing to cuddle up with at night.
+50% mob-kill bonus in the new patch.
Wish granted.
Event rewards for slaying the octovine are now given all at once instead of individually. Participating in one “Slay the octovine!” event now gives improved rewards, but players will only be eligible for this reward once.
Wish granted.

Scarlet was a cringe-inducing self-insert fanfiction character that was somehow accidentally written into a major market game
That’s about accurate. Allegations of being a Mary Sue came back from the jury with a Guilty verdict.
I have to wonder that, when some people get abuse, it’s because of their management style. The multicolor dorito doesn’t excuse a lack of politeness.
I only finally made one because precursors dropped in price after the legendary journey announcement came out, and I decided to build up enough gold to buy a non-meta weapon. Most of my precursor options are still well outside my reach, and the actual legendary grind is stupidly heavy.
Will always say yes to this. Have been for over a year: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tonics-to-Outfits-It-s-time/
The dye channels were there, and there’s a good 17 tonics that need converting.
One thing I’ve noticed that really bothers me is people come chat in these forums and abbreviate so many things but not ONCE do they define the thing they are abbreviating.
Please..if from now on you guys could abbreviate things AFTER you’ve defined them at least once on your posts, me ( and possibly others ) would appreciate it. lol
As someone whose written scientific papers before, I agree. :P
But, shorthand exists for a reason, and that reason in this case is that the jargon gets used so much it ends up earning its own shorthand.
Think of it like a puzzle! You’ll feel all smartie after you figure it out.
So glad I got to dig into SAB. Got some nifty skins, a title I missed out on before, all that good stuff.
Burned out a little early, since the thought of doing World 2 achievements sapped me of my will to live, but I hope to get around to it next time!
I would like to have a “customize” page for the “sell junk” option that allows me to add things that I consider to be junk.
Like a list of checkboxes for item classes (sigils, runes, armor, etc.) and rarities (masterwork, rare, etc.).
This would be a really nice QoL improvement.
A similar add-on for WoW is one of my “can’t do without” mods. I’d love to have a declared-junk option.
not sure why you guys complain, play charr for a while and then you will actually start to appreciate the skins on other races.
I probably would appreciate the skins on other races if it weren’t for all the glowing bits, wings, gaudy backpacks and weapon trails obscuring what might be a decently crafted character.
…bah, who am I kidding? People that pour on that stuff are likely to dye everything Blackest-black anyway :p
Or Celestial White, or..
/shudder
Electro Pink.
Can we maybe get a Anet person to say this is legal or not as this game really need a good DPS meter.
ANet will not vet third-party anything. And if the meter oversteps boundaries of the ToS, the user is the one that gets in trouble.
Many of the masteries aren’t actually good. They generally act as gates in two senses: The first that they gate off content that you may or may not care about. For instance, nobody really cares about being able to fight the ally champions beyond the collection items they give. “Yeah! I get to fight Potoni the Massive,” said nobody ever. The other kind of content they gate off is in regards to where you can go in the environment. Unlocking Itzel Poison Lore and having new areas to go to was actually kind of neat. I wouldn’t like to see this concept over-applied but the way it was done in this instance, I actually enjoyed. The second way that they act as gates is in regards to other masteries. There are a lot of interesting masteries locked behind masteries that nobody cares about. If players were given the option to choose which order to unlock masteries then you know that there are a bunch that would just never get unlocked at all. So from the perspective of a progression system this isn’t great. Your progress should be meaningful, you should be excited, like, “Yeah! This new thing I’ve unlocked is awesome” instead of “Okay, so I’ve unlocked this thing nobody cares about and now I’m one step closer to the awesome thing I actually want. Yay.”
Thanks for putting this out there, Tapioca. 100% my opinion without my usual rambling.
Some of the masteries are decent in that they open up things you can do rather than just unlocking stuff you should have been able to get to in the first place. Masteries should have made the game experience either more efficient or more rewarding, instead of completely blocking off content.
Gliding is a joyous Mastery to have. Mushrooms and Wallows are useful for traversing maps without having to take the long way. Shortcuts, give us shortcuts.
Other semi-decent ones are the extra reward options (challenges, auric mining) that give us something else to gather. Unique currency that isn’t just map related is also useful. Nuhoch Stealth at least gives us a counter to some of the mobs that use stealth in Magus Falls, so it’s useful and makes encounters easier. (I could write an entire other post on how this was mis-applied to Axemaster…)
Terrible masteries? Itzel Poison Mastery comes to mind. It is nothing but a gate to content, including other mastery insights. Bad. There is no shortcut or bypass, just death for walking into the wrong spot without protection.
It could have been so much better. Enemies that use toxins as part of their damage could be mitigated by poison mastery (had some thoughts on how to redesign Axemaster with this in mind), and again, an availability of shortcuts that would normally be closed off.
Plus, SAB is going to be an annual festival now, so the achievements should be back next year.
We can hope. ;_;
Got a little burned out after World 1, so I might not gun to finish World 2’s achievement bundle, but I’ll be ready for next time!
I certainly appreciate have multiple guilds. I can keep my token guild and still be in two dead/quiet guilds and in a newly found active guild. If the game recovers, I can be in several active guilds and participate in a lot more events.
As a note on the grind:
For myself, it’s not the grind that kills HoT for me. It’s the utter inconvenience of how that content is timed. So many things are closed off for too long, and many of those are tied to progression.
Hero challenges are often “group” content or can only be explored at specific times: Night bosses/canopy in Verdant Brink, Tarir and its meta, Dragon Stand… Mastery points are similarly shelved behind group/meta content: again, Night bosses (no one does Axemaster) and other achievements that give Mastery Points.
The map as a tool is borderline worthless, especially in Tangled Depths, which just adds another barrier to participation.
As it is, the design of HoT zones turns exploration and participation into a complicated , undocumented maze of mastery requirements that requires a coordinated group to fully experience. It runs counter to how most people actually play MMOs: level independently, group for challenge content.
Even the outfits, the current crank-out-once-per-week cash cow, is very hit or miss on style. Slayer outfit? Tragic. The only reason the Gwen outfit sells is because of the nostalgia brand name; it’s otherwise far too plain and looks shoddy on men.
Sniper Bandit outfit? Typical of lazy anti-Charr design.
Would be nice to have some effort for the two non-human races in the game, to be honest. And while I don’t mind one way or another, some people would like some feminine flair to otherwise androgynous females of those races. Maybe not halter tops and mini skirts, but design that shows consideration to ‘softer’ silhouettes.
These two examples, kek and kappa, I can handle, but the one that really drives me up the wall is “bae”.
“Bae” used to grate on me, until I learned it was an acronym for “Before Anyone Else.” I find it kind of sweet.
[Obligatory kek]
Whirl is the absolute worst. Flailing about seemingly at random, it’s possible to execute one with perfect timing and have no effect at all. At least set up Whirl finishes the same way the projectiles on Rev-Sword 2 work and have them target nearby available targets. (…and exclude critters.)
Maces seldom get anything cool. Let the flail stay.

Well tbh people were telling over and over and over again before launch of expansion that its not worth the price, that it will have very little content, very few maps etc. Those same people were called fools for judging the expansion before it came out (even though all info was there). Is amazing how those who bought game were hoping to get more than was announced, such an amusing blind faith in anet. Personally am glad i dodged the bullet called heart of thorns. Maybe when they will discount it to 5-10$ which is about as much as its worth i will pick it up, but thats a maybe.
But that’s the funny part. There are plenty of people who knew what they were getting and still feel it was worth the price. Every time there’s a thread is hot worth it, there are almost as many people who feel it was as feel it wasn’t.
The real issue is when people compare it to the value of the core game, which was phenomenal.
But I’ve already gotten a couple of hundred hours out of HoT so it was well worth my money.
I feel like HoT could be worth what I paid for it, with a few tweaks. Some seemingly small but necessary, complicated tweaks.
Heh, it’s funny, since SAB converted a friend of mine from core to expansion, I have a little protege to lead around, so hopefully that will finally get me into some of the newer content.
ANet does seem to follow that “punishing” is equivalent to “challenging.” Playing SAB has reminded me of that. Well, reminded me even more. GW2 has always had this edge of “do or die” that doesn’t promote “fail and learn” very well.
Also, Trib mode is there to sell Infinite Continue Coins. [/tinfoilhat]
They devs did this already. :p https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-1-2016-Part-2
- In order to streamline the experience of Fractals of the Mists, every fractal has been replaced with Swampland.
- Removed all terrain and environment assets from the Mossman encounter. Players will now engage the Mossman in a featureless, gray, circular room, and this is why we can’t have nice things.
I’m detecting some salt. XD
Thanks for the link, Rose
I recommend grabbing mushrooms and then updrafts next. They make exploring so much more enjoyable. And just wait until you get infinite gliding! It’s fantastic. Congrats!
For anyone new to HoT, I recommend all the mobility options first. Once you can access the breadth of the game freely, it feels so much better.
Yeah, I was pining for World 3 as well. Hadn’t even done enough in the first two worlds, but I just wanted to know they were there.
TY for sticking your head out again to address the community M.O.
I was a bit nervous that you all might turtle on the communication after the seething hot flames of anger that was hurled your way from the community for doing what many have asked for.
Its ok. You caught it all in time (unlike SOE did with some of their games), and you handled it correctly by facing it head on. If you keep your word the negativity will fade over time, or at least return to normal gamer grumpy levels LOL.
You might want to let them know that indefinitely on hold does not mean axed completely. Most have no idea of the staggering amount of work that goes into a game or how things are sometimes shuffled to reach deadlines.
Other than that I’ll give the new BL a look and toss my 2 cents in the opinions when its released. But straight up its probably not going to be an easy sell.
Hopefully Mo is looking for the opportunity to re-direct staff back to Legendary development, once things calm down and HoT gets some much-needed polish.
And hopefully, at that time, he’ll tell us development is back on.
And April 2016 shall be known as the time Mo-chansempaikun brought back the sacred Super Adventure Box.
Enjoy your jumping, folks!
All weapon skins will be replaced by placards that say ‘SAB or riot’
When the inevitable SAB or Riot protest starts, there will be actual enemy rioters. The only line of dialog they will have is “We attacked the Mother Tree! We can attack anywhere!”
Joy is always good to see.
I felt kind of the same way when I got to Advanced Gliding. The non-stop ride is fantastic!
The world is full of offenses, it doesn’t mean we get to evict every person who offends.
That’s right in line with one of my favorite (and very obscure) quotes: “You do not have the right to not be offended. You do have the right to walk away.”
~EW
Weeeell, technically there’s a code of conduct that applies to everyone who buys. ToS kinda stuff. It’s to prevent one entitled loudmouth from convincing 20 other paying players to “walk away”.
Players may not have the right to not be offended, because life happens, but nor does GW2 give open license to offend. And if being an offensive tea waffle is a mark of pride for someone, that person could stand to do some deep soul searching.
One option that needs to be included is inappropriate guild name. I’ve seen some really “interesting” letter combinations, along with their “guild name”.
That is rather irritating. Pet names and guild names aren’t easy to report, and the only why I know of is to route it through support. I really don’t want to clog the support system with that.
The explanation I got was reporting against a character name doesn’t pull the data for guild names and pets. That really needs to be worked on.
What’s the point on “catching up” someone’s AP? Sorry but I don’t understand that. IMO AP is something you want to get new skins and titles for yourself. How much AP another player have shouldn’t matter at all.
It shouldn’t, but some people are very guarded about “prestige”. I don’t want to bring out the “E” word, but it fits here.
Good MMO design will accommodate the more hardcore players’ desire for uniqueness and reputation, so I can understand why the daily cap exists. It’s also why I’m not 100% for removing it, but perhaps a compromising escalation (noted above).
So, does this include class balancing?
Class balancing is a PvP issue. I do not believe this idea deserves any dev time because most of us would like to see content instead.
You’re only speaking for yourself, though. I want to see more content added too. Class balancing is a big issue in PvP, and it should be addressed soon.
Balance team also has nothing to do with content generators. No reason not to have class balance and content.
Unfortunately the balance is really off as it has been neglected for too long – I guess a lot of people are needed to fix it. We have been bashing each other’s heads in on the Thief forums since before June – all of us have different playstyles, favourite game modes, use different builds and different weapons. Even the 20+ of us lamenting about one single class couldn’t really come to any conclusions.
And this is the general forums, so you guys think that most players want content – it looks the other way around though if you look at that the pvp, wvw and all class forums.
As a warrior main, trust me, I know the feels. Several people in the warrior forums have tried full re-writes. What we got? Hammer cooldowns. (I appreciate it as a hammer user but…)
