Double teams happen in general, but from what I’m seeing this was planned in advance. Such a tragedy to have happen in T1, but we welcome the challenge. More bags for us.

For the discussion on WvW population from earlier today. It’s pretty simply it’s SoR > BG > JQ. I’m certain Anet has the numbers on total man hours per server to back up my belief.

Pretty simple if you are ignorant, or if you’re talking about current participation. If BG didn’t quit after the second day after reset then they could put up a fight with their superior numbers. But, people say BG is a guild graveyard for a reason. Money doesn’t buy happiness.

Am I the only one missing it here, did someone on BG forget to tell BT what that server is about? BG was formed purely for T1 first place, most of the guilds around you every night were purchased labor. If you think about what I just said, you would realize why BG has such a hard time keeping its players in WvW. BG is a mercenary server, been that way since they first arrived in T1 and then forcefully removed from that T1 spot so long ago. Only “Original” guild left is KnT, and potentially Icoa, that does not mean they don’t have players that have remained since inception, but the guilds around you are for the most part, “payed labor”.

A few reasons I left was because no one seemed interested in trying new tactics and people used WvW to level their alts.

I was talking to a current guildy of mine and they made a great point. Blackgate is a server of people that just want first place, where as SoR is a server that wants to just have fun. Through having fun, SoR has grown a LOT. Through wanting to be first place and nothing more, BG has grown a lot… of baddies.

Needless to say, when I was on Blackgate, the guilds fighting now were not besides Icoa and KnT, and possibly EA but I haven’t seen that tag in ages. The only active guild I really see anymore is Icoa. You could add Thai and Urge, but I haven’t even really seen them in ages, besides the gold buyers of Thai doing golem rushes on SM and then losing it 15 minutes later.

KnT fields a sizable force on reset nights. Their group shrinks a lot though as the week goes on.

Their leader follows me on their contact list. I check my followers from time to time. He doesn’t show anymore. He was one that cared only about numbers, which is why around Jan 28th some of the better members left. I was friends with most of those members, and most told me to quit the game because it was dying. Ironically it was when SoR and BG swapped places between T1 and T2. Only one of my friends still actively plays from that time period. I guess I was the lucky one that saw BG wasn’t the best place to be.

So I got back from a backpacking trip and log in to see SoR is red and we’re fighting BG and JQ again. Huge disappointment. No hate against those servers, but some of the best guilds that really challenge you are on lower tiered servers and it’d be nice to fight them for once rather than the same enemies for 3 months straight.

I didn’t say that. I’m just saying out of T1, SoR has maintained their guilds and kept everyone happy. Where as BG and JQ have been losing guilds and people have been unhappy.

In reality, I hope RE goes to a lower ranked server so we can see some new servers make it up to the higher tiers. Joining an already stacked server just makes the game uninteresting. This patch was badly needed just so we could get some new faces. Having servers gain a guild that isn’t a “WvW server” makes things more interesting for everyone.

I heard that steel chests are what drop exotics (which precursors are). Don’t worry, you only missed out on garbage. But I’m down for autolooting. WvW moves fast, and I don’t have time to pick up all my bags.

So do engineer Mortars. When I first unlocked that skill long ago I wanted to test it out. Someone took it right as I set it down and didn’t get off.

I had to wait an extra 2 minutes or whatever the cooldown is to realize how god awful that skill is.

I use a staff guardian. Full knights/PvT with perception sigil. When I crit I deal around 800-1200 while applying tons of buffs to my allies. This is how I get my badges.

They don’t drop often, but when you’re not too concerned with getting them, they seem to just pour in. Whenever you’re playing just to get a certain item, it’s going to seem like ages.

Also…. kill zergs.

I do high level fractals and get greens more than I should for the amount of time and frustration I put into them. Stop your whining. WvW is very rewarding, especially if competing against JQ and BG.

I’ll simply share my experiences with the two servers I’ve been in T1 with. No flaming intended. This is just my experience, so anything anyone tries to deny is just being dumb simply because this is about my personal experience.

That being said, when I was with Blackgate (from ~September – January), it seemed more of coverage. There were some guilds that had great tactics but no longer play. The current BG has maybe 2 or 3 original guilds since I was there. Nowdays it seems they copy everything my new server (SoR) does.

With SoR, there are many guilds that use tactics and each guild really runs their own zerg in each BL, with PuGs following them. But what I love that SoR does is they separate TS channels by borderland, not guild, which is what BG did. You feel like a part of every guild when using the server TS, and it’s well maintained.

In T1 you get a lot of good fights and strategies, but until Iron transfered you mainly got a lying score simply because it was all coverage. Right now it seems like each server has a different primetime. But, if you’re an NA player, you’re going to get the best strategies on SoR. If you’re an Asian or Oceanic player, then JQ or BG would be your best bet. All I know though is my experiences with BG is that they’re more concerned about numbers than tactics. I left BG because I tried getting my guild to use more tactics but no one listened unfortunately.

Another thread about a guild looking to transfer and every forum warrior becomes a puppy dog as if the OP shook a bag of puppy chow.

In reality, just go wherever you kitten want. Asking on these forums is going to fill you with lies about every server, mostly from the occupants of that server. Since you’re PvX, and do some PvE, I’d suggest having some members scout servers and guest on them, seeing what the PvE is like. The WvW you can just tell by the point system already in place.

All I know is, depending on your skill level, you’re either going to be a guild that changes the outcome significantly by being good, or you’re just another guild that opposing servers use to farm but cannot keep up with the coverage so you PvDoor consistently and the nice little puppies that recruited you are going to turn into ravaged dogs thinking they own the game because coverage is all that matters in WvW.

Pick wisely, and don’t listen to any one of these people trying to recruit you. It’s like a job interview. They’re going to BS themselves as much as possible simply look like the best choice, but then you see their performance is bad.

Because of my departure from BG, many people thought I was a traitor because I went to SoR, so they put me on my contacts list. Only one of them actively participates in WvW. I had many people send me PMs trying to trash talk and what you guys call “Chest thump” and say that SoR would never survive in T1. Once Blackgate starting falling apart half of them kept telling me to quit the game (one I waited 5 years and spent a lot of money upgrading my system so I could have the best possible experience) because it was dying. These aren’t just simple people either. Some of them were leaders of guilds, or big parts of the guilds that often commanded.

I spent hours in teamspeak having them get frustrated with one guild for those 11 weeks, and that was TW, which is why whenever BG posts a “chest thumping” video it’s about TW or wiping Indo (which is why they have so few).

I know for a fact BG doesn’t welcome this competition. They’ve been MIA this week and last week and my Followers section of my contact list is becoming only blue names. Most of the guilds there are there for one reason, and that’s winning. I often wondered if some of the people in WvW on that server were actually having fun. Heck, one of the many reasons I left BG was because WvW stopped becoming fun.

To be fair, that’s not exclusive to BG. The amount of QQ you hear about TW in map chat and TS can fill a football stadium. The funny thing is I don’t think anyone in this game is unbeatable but TW has somehow managed to put hesitation into their enemies and they exploit that.

You can tell by how aggressive they are on the field while half their enemy is running away. I mean the battle is basically won on inc by them and it has nothing to do with their “superior skill” at that point.

The other problem is no one spends enough time on a map against them to improve. Everyone whines and kittenes but except for reset night, no wvw guild on JQ will sit in a BL to fight them and try to improve their game against them, which leaves the pugs to fend for themselves a lot of the time. The old EMP and FIRE probably used to spend the most time against TW on a map I feel, nowadays it’s wipe a few times to them and “lets hop to another map”.

Regardless, I think they are very beatable and could probably name a couple other guilds I’d be more “afraid” of, but they have a reputation and they use it fully to their advantage, on the field and off.

You make a good point. The thing I love most about TW is the lack of fear they have, and the belief they have that they can win any fight. Most guilds run. They only run when it’s suicide and nothing more to fight.

The only thing more rewarding than the loot bags is the tears of BG and JQ. You guys had no problem talking us down when we had no coverage and you guys PvDoor’d. Not so much fun when the tables have turned, is it?

At least when we had no coverage we showed up every night and put a dent in the PPT for a bunch of hours throughout the day. You guys don’t even show up when you get to pvdoor our keeps.

I think this should change in WvW. I was trying to stomp an enemy before the zerg caught up to him. I was just about the put the hammer down when he got up on his feet because the repel the enemy attacks event went off and he leveled. As a result he was able to CC me enough that I got killed by the zerg.

Cool. More incentive to play my thief and annoy people with stealth.

No server has 2 hour queue times besides on reset night. Your best bet is either SoR, BG, or JQ. Right now SoR is the only server between those three that isn’t on the downhill. Others would be like Dragonbrand, Tarnished Coast, and whatever else is in T2.

I don’t get why I get banned for calling someone dumb or something but these guys never get banned for turning a WvW thread into some cutsie, annoying stuff which is considered spam because it has nothing to do with the topic of the thread. Let’s keep it on topic guys.

On topic – Shoutout to Lorthos and HIRE for doing a good job last night in EBG. Had some good fights against JQ last night.

Personally I feel the reset of points is meaningless. People spent points in something they knew was completely OP and should be punished with being forced to keep those points.

You could say “red” and someone might be offended by it, and report you to get you banned, at least on these forums. I receive a week long ban if I tell someone to stop QQing on these forums….

The fact of the matter is, if ArenaNet wanted to be as banhappy as they are, they shouldn’t have ever made PvP in this game.

I was glad to see that we finally get WXP when repairing walls/gates and for building siege. I facepalmed when I saw it was only one.

I’m all in for having it be longterm advantages to keep players involved, since lack of players is a major problem in WvW, but it comes to the point where you must be a WvW player only to obtain some of the ranks. I put maybe an hour or two in WvW a day, sometimes more, and sometimes none at all, but my highest rank is about 16 when I actively participate in just about everything there is to do in WvW when I enter it.

The above servers have not been revitalized by transfers because a very large portion of the guilds have left these servers, making it impossible for them to recover.

It hasn’t happened to Blackgate because the guilds on here stay on the server when it goes down, and keep fighting for Blackgate to go back up again. It’s because of the willingness of Blackgate guilds to fight on and not give up that it receives new transfers.

No it’s the money. That’s why your guild moved there.

Man the amount of excuses in here never ceases to amaze me.

The latest “Iron Carries SoR” topic is ridiculous. IRON gives us the ability to win, something SoR should have done long ago but lacked any coverage outside of NA primetime, which SoR has been dominating since coming into T1. We had barely to no coverage outside of NA.

We had no FOO or WM, large guilds that PvDoor’d to victory every week. We still don’t have enough coverage for those timezones. Now we have an EU guild that can help us outside of NA primetime. Now adding the dominance by the NA guilds SOR has with dominant EU guild, SoR is rightfully winning.

All I know is I never saw any JQ members complain about coverage when FOO “carried” them to victory every week or any Blackgate members complain when HB was akitten ’s prime and “carried” them to the upper tiers. I didn’t see any BG complain when WM joined their server with the sorry excuse they made up.

All I know is I cannot wait until the update on the 28th in which we don’t have to fight each other anymore. It’s time for a change, and it’s about kitten time ArenaNet is giving us that change.

In all truth it’s been a pleasure fighting you all, despite all the trash talk and lame excuses. This next week may be our last time fighting each other for awhile. Let’s make it a good week, where everyone tries for number 1, and puts their hearts into WvW and tries to end these matchups as the dominant server.

Transferring from EU servers to T1 NA to talk tough, farm PuGs, get your daily PvD in, and ask for GvGs. Never heard that one before…

Should really get to know your server a bit more before you talk about 80 man blobs and GvG’s (or interfering with them).

On an unrelated note you IRON guys are pretty fun to fight, regardless of the numbers on the field.

All of BG and JQ are PuGs? Well, they certainly play like it. That explains so much…

On a side note. Congrats to WM on being the “saviors of a server”.

I will say that my time running with IRON has been nothing but positive. These guys know what they’re doing and they do it well, and have the guts to do what a lot of other guilds don’t. Their experience and use of combo fields are something I wish a lot of other guilds would do as well.

On a side note, GG to SF/EMP/ACO or whoever else was in BG BL tonight. A lot of tough, fun fights. Nice to see JQ pushing away from BG, who once again is having less logins everyday. Funny how some of the forum warriors on here added me to their contacts list so I can see when they are online. 2 weeks ago they played all the time. Where’d they go now? I still see them on the forums…

Is it just me or is every battleground having massive lag? I got people teleporting without using any teleporting skills and it took about 5 seconds for anything to activate. Really ruined WvW for me tonight.

Believe it or not, we know BG’s infamous force of no-lifers are at the store buying monsters and toilet getting ready to pull a 72 hour shift so that at the end of the week they can still think they’re good at the game despite giving us tons of gold.

I just did a 36 and got nothing as well.

I did a lvl 1 on my warrior that was level 1 and got 6 rares. Go figure.

Time vs reward…

As someone that has all 8 professions at level 80….

I see no need. There is too much variety in this game. Some of my classes I’ve been dying to play and have spent so much time leveling and gearing, but I don’t have the time to play them all to the point I want to.

And as someone said, you can just give weapons and make new weapons to make the current classes intense.

Add Javelins, Polearms, Two-handed Axes, Throwing Knives, Dual bladed swords, Spears, Scythes, and more to make the current classes have even more variety.

The only reason I’d see for new classes would be either the Ritualist making a return, or trying to prevent a certain class (like the Warrior) from having so many skills that they could just make two separate classes.

Outfitter? You mean the NPCs selling PVP weapons/armor? If so, did you check just south of the home-point spawn location on Red BL – they were the last time I saw them (this was on Sanctum of Rall’s borderlands a few weeks ago).

I do wish banks were more accessible in WvW, but those are one of the few useful perks from upgrading personnel at a Keep. That said, IIRC, the banks were removed because people were queuing up for WvW just to access their bank, causing longer queue times.

That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.

Well, if this is the case, are there any thoughts in the ArenaNet HQ about removing/moving the jumping puzzles that often are the reason map/team chat is filled with “mesmer at the JP?”. The siege is useful but at this point in the game you shouldn’t need to be spending so much time in the JP to be able to afford siege.

Customers or not, the fact that World vs. World is balanced around a server having a full population at all times of the day and night is an absolute joke.

It’s not fun, and it end up being repetitive.

Did you know it is always day some where in the world?

Did you know it is always night somewhere in the word? What’s your point?

His point is that you should stop being so inconsiderate of other players.
People who can only play at night should also have the ability to impact the fight.

Not to the point where the game is coverage vs coverage.

It’d all be fine if ArenaNet would change the scoring system. A server should win based on their ability to fight better than the opponent. Not the ability to have other players fight while you go off to sleep.

As much as I agree, ArenaNet has blatantly said that they don’t care because the PvDoor players are “customers as well”.

Please stop derailing threads. No one cares about a servers history. It’s now that matters, and history only matters when it repeats itself.

At this point BGs Oceanic/Asian timezone is far superior than their NA crew. Not bashing BG, but that is sad on ArenaNets part for NA servers. Not entirely sure why it’s taking so long to get Asian servers.
