I have confirmation from a dev that it is considered exploiting as it is no different than a macro. He mentioned that there would likely be disciplinary action, likely a warning at first and up from there.
All in all, don’t do it. It really is no different than using a macro/bot. When you’re playing the game, you’re suppose to be playing it.
Except for the part where no third party app and no scripting is being used…
Was it a really a dev or just a clueless GM? Any proof of this exchange?
For privacy reasons I’m not giving names as it was his playable character. He had his ArenaNet tag and was telling us what he did on the game, and that he was a developer. He said what I said. It’s against the rules. If you don’t think it is, go ahead and cheat and be banned for it. That can be your proof.
There are a few things to consider before botting.
First of all, a vast majority of botting accounts are “hacked” or stolen accounts. ArenaNet could be trying to give the account back to the original owner.
Second of all, all report features are done via an ArenaNet employee. Players are innocent until proven guilty and there is a lot more than you’d realize that goes into if a player should be banned or not.
Lastly, there are rumors that ArenaNet is going to do a mass ban, to get all the bots out at once. If they just banned one account, a new one would sprout up and start botting again and its an endless war. A mass ban gets rid of all bots at once. Thus, if a single person is botting with multiple accounts, it’ll take them longer to get all bots up and going instead of just banning one, while the other is still up, and the other still being up continues to spam gold selling sites and what not and by the time that one gets banned, a new one is already up.
Who knows. But to improperly blame ArenaNet for getting nothing done is stupid. They’re working on it. They’ve told us this. You just have to be patient. It’s much more of a burden for them than it is to us.

I’ll appreciate ArenaNet for how nice they are, that’s for sure.
I got a name change for free and without a ban because I realize I broke one of the rules while making my character name. I got a response quickly. They often update us when there is a problem and what is going on. And I just got done playing with an ArenaNet dev in WvW. He even ended up joining our mumble and was having a conversation with us for an hour or two. Not many game companies have their developers do that.
I log in this morning and start lagging bad. Others say they were getting lag but mine was just being awful and unplayable. I’d keep getting disconnected and my skills would take 5 seconds to a minute to respond.
I remember hearing that if you’re getting disconnected randomly and often, someone might be trying to log in to your account from elsewhere. So, I changed my password and all of the lag completely stops (or has for now). Even when the lag was “bearable” it took a second or two to activate skills or activate anything, despite everyone around me running fine, events running fine, and everything like that. I even checked my computer internet connection and it was perfectly fine. However, changing my password made all lag stop.
So, my question is, does this mean someone was trying to access my account and was probably close to accessing my account?
Country – USA (Oregon)
Server – Blackgate
Lagging like hell and getting disconnected constantly.
I would pay to just to be able to have more than 5 people in a group, actually my guild, in WvW.
Like 12 maybe? or 24?
You can actually do that. It just costs you 100g.
I’d be down with anything, but the fact of the matter is we’re still in balancing cycles. I often find my server to be great at communication and often win against zergs much larger than ours, but at one point we just get overwhelmed because of how many enemies there are, as even spamming 1 deals damage.
I’d just like to see the final balance be more about number of players rather than if you won or not.
Guild Halls were in Guild Wars 1. It was over a year ago, but I attended PAX Prime and went to one of the conferences. Eric Flannum mentioned that they would not be in launch, but are in development. So, I expect to see Guild Halls in the future.
As for Guild Unity, I often get called a jerk for saying this but don’t pick a guild that often recruits in global/map chat. These guys are mainly people that just want numbers. The best way to find a guild is to make sure it’s a fairly large one with a diverse group of players and find them by the actions you do with them, not by asking for a guild in map chat. You’ll often find a guild that’s pretty bad or plays solo and uses guild chat as another chat box if you just join one with someone that recruits often via map chat.
First of all calm down. I like kittens but not when they’re used violently.
Second of all, it’s the progression stage, I just wish there were some you could use for karma rather than gold.
Third, I kind of agree. Some of them look pretty decent and I just want them for their looks, but as a GW1 player, I guess I’ll just stick to buying dyes and using heritage.
Are people seriously going to complain about the voice acting again? “this seems out of place, and this does too”. Can’t please everyone. There hasn’t been a single NPC that hasn’t made me question if they should have that voice, except some of the player characters because of the way people make them look.
As for ogres, the ’me smash you" is actually Ettins. You ever see Shrek? Did you complain that he spoke perfect English?
Games not going to please everyone, and neither is the voice acting. But, it’s fine. These voice actors did a good job. The only problem with voice in this game is that some of the scripted talk will be a low toned woman Asuran (like the ones near the Tequatl spawn that talk about some experiment gone wrong), and when you talk to her she has a very high pitched voice.
But seriously, these voice actors did a kitten good job, and deserve some praise.
explorable mode?
When you set yourself a new sleep schedule so that you can play GW2 before and after work.
People in-game = This game is great!
People on forums – QQ I like worse games because I played WoW for 7 years.
Seriously, if you don’t like it, get out. This game still has tons of players playing it and enjoying it. We’re sick of the vocal minority thinking ArenaNet needs to cater to them because they rushed through all the content only going to use the bathroom, eat, and sleep when their mothers told them to while being disappointed in their child.
Game’s got problems every MMO has that can’t be fixed, but it’s not lacking content, it’s not lacking endgame, it’s far from boring, and none of the bugs make the game unplayable. The problem is you either rushed through it all or the game isn’t for you, in which means you need to just get out and go elsewhere. There are those like me that waited 5 years after playing GW1 since launch and are loving the hell out of this game. We don’t need things changed because morons on the forum have to QQ all the time.
I have all 8 classes, ranging from 16 to 28 and don’t really feel any of them play a lot different from each other, besides their armor allowances and class bugs 9lol)
I also tend to play a different class every night/day because I just don’t click with any one class inparticular.
Currently I’ve rerolled all humans and am doing an area at a time with each class one after the other.
Also, with the solo gameplay style mechanics of this game,I very much doubt that I’ll attain level 80 with any one class,as it’s boring me to tears playing solo and I’m spending less and less time actually playing or logging in.
I’m more a team player and party animal..which is my problem not the games tho.
You should try transfering servers. Players have dedicated servers to which is what. For example, I’ve played on Tarnished Coast, Yak’s Bend, and now reside in Blackgate. TC seems more of a casual, role playing server (or at least did when I played on it). Yak’s Bend seemed more of an overall. Had an average WvW group and high population in PvE. Blackgate has an average PvE with a high population WvW.
I just can’t wait until server transfers cost gems and the guest passes start working. I don’t want to log in to another server, find out I don’t like it, and then be surprised that I have to start paying to switch back.
On topic….
I have a lvl 80 Thief and Necro. I played my Thief all the way through. I don’t get why the hell people rushed to get 100% world completion. I’m enjoying trying a new class and trying a new zone each playthrough. I also have a lvl 32 ranger that I’m now playing. A lvl 14 warrior (got one to 35 in beta), lvl 10 guardian, lvl 11 mesmer (but only via crafting), lvl 16 elementalist and lvl 7 engineer. I love all the classes that its hard for me to stick with one. But, when I start playing one, I feel like playing a different one lol.

I like updates, but not ones that add unneeded annoyances. Why in Grenth’s name can we no longer transmute items equiped? As a GW1 player that likes to use the heritage armors this is just a pain in the cat.
What races I expect to be playable in the future…
-Tengu
-Kodan
-Centaur
Races I wouldn’t mind, but likely won’t be playable
-Skritt
-Dredge
-Grawl
The reason I don’t expect these to be playable are due to their lore. Dredge are blind first of all, and are always digging and mining. Skritt are thieves that are stupid when alone and average intellect when in groups. Grawl worship anything more powerful than them, much like the Flame legion.
If you aren’t making that money back you’re either doing nothing when you travel or aren’t playing the game correctly. Rewards scale with level. In reality, you’re spending the same amount as a level 1, since a copper is worth more to that level 1 since they aren’t making a silver for an easy, repeatable event that is spammed in Orr.
I never ran into this problem. The only problem I run into is a guild without any buffs claims it.
No no and no. Enough of this mount talk please. ArenaNet would be the biggest fools to ever add mounts to this game.
I agree. I really didn’t like that the choices you made in your biography stopped at like levels 10 and then 20. It didn’t add much at all.
“blah blah blah I play solo oh no can’t get 100% on my own because this game is called GUILD wars but I choose to solo”.
I hear it all the time. Join a party. Underwater is a different feel, but it’s enjoyable and adds diversity to the game. Just play with people. Unfortunately no one goes to the SoD though
I have a character named Gordon J Ramsay. Spent a lot of time trying to make him look like the real Gordon Ramsay. So I was wandering around, doing some events, and started having conversations with people until some people brought up that you can get a 72 hr ban for having the name of a real person and being forced to change it. I’ve had this character since August 24th at 9pm PST, though I haven’t played much of him.
They also said that it’s only names that can be used in offensive ways, like naming yourself Mitt Romney or something and trying to impersonate them in a negative way.
I was just wondering if it’s true, because if it is, I’d like to request a name change right away, as my intentions were never to break any ToC or rules by having one of my characters named after my idol.
Anyone that feels we should have mounts in this game fails to understand the meaning of a stable economy, money sinks, and fails at putting items they don’t need on the trading post. There is absolutely no need for mounts in Guild Wars 2. The developers know this, which is why they said there would be no mounts in the game. They also said there would be no flying, because they have an amazing art team and made sure every single millimeter of Tyria had beautiful detail. Mounts take that away. There are also no mount races in this game besides Yaks, and they’re slow.
So… basically… no. No need for mounts. If you want mounts, by all means, go back to WoW and enjoy riding a panda.
Actually waypoints take away the world art way more than mounts in my opinion, since with mounts you can actually see whats between point A and point B while traveling….
Not true. You need to travel to waypoints to unlock them, and with the use of POI. You need to go through the content to actually unlock these. Using a mount lets you run past all the content. Sure you could do that now but it’s discouraged with the constant mobs. Mounts are simply not needed in this game and do more harm than good. It’s a bad idea and won’t ever happen.
Elementalists get 4 attunements. If you think they’re all the same, you obviously are playing wrong. Sure it’d be nice for PvE wanting to try new things, but as someone said, in PvP that gives them 8 weapon sets to use and 8 weapon sets to use IN COMBAT.
Pick a better build if you’re having troubles with your current one.

Ranger – 1 hit – 6,431 dmg
Warrior – 1 hit – 7,731 dmg
Warrior #2 – 1 hit – 11,064 dmgand you are talking about thiefs…
This. I play every single class in the game. My lowest level being a lvl 7 engineer. After that, all fairly decent level with Necro and Thief being my lvl 80s so far. Thief is much easier to play than necro, but thief is a single target DPS spike class. Warrior can meanwhile CC an entire group, add tons of conditions to one of them while doing heavy DPS, and has massive cleave damage. Rangers can deal fast DPS to one target from… you guessed it… range.
People often forget that Guild Wars 2 is a team based game and being solo at any point in the game is useless. Thus, if you’re in a group, a thief is kitten hard to play. They’re the class that basically kills the greedy ones that chase for kills or the ones that think it’s best to always go in solo. Stick to your group and you won’t ever be complaining of thieves.
You kind of destroyed your own idea with the last few words of your first paragraph.
Also, there is a ton of diversity in this game, it’s just that most people use the same builds now because no one that plays this game besides the developers know the true power of everything. I’d like to see some skills for certain weapons though to have some choice, but not a ton like Guild Wars 1. Maybe like 2 sets of skills for a sword or something, because right now the current sword skills for Warrior in the main hand are to chase down a fleeing opponent.
I have 6 serious names and 2 fun names after famous people I like. Anders Fridenn (had to add the extra N. I can’t believe someone in GW2 besides me knows who that is) and Gordon J Ramsay. I can’t believe I got to name my character that. I was so happy. I named my pet since Ramsay is a ranger “Jean Phillip”.
My serious names are all fairly lore bound. Keep in mind… I like Ravens.
Sylvari Necro – Ravenvari
Charr Thief – Raven Darkclaw
Norn Warrior – Raven Sharpsteel
Charr Guardian – Mia Holyfur
Asura Elementalist – Zizzap
Human Mesmer – Crystal Paranormal
