WvW scores show nothing of skill. A lot of BG said that before WM decided to kill another server by leaving. Wonder if they’ll still say that. I have noticed a lot of people that “follow” me are back online, that happen to be on BG.
Either way, it doesn’t matter as WvW has been killed by the recent update. Let’s make the most annoying thing in the game even more OP. Great job ArenaNet. Thank God your PvE is at least decent.
BG = Most skilled
JQ= Used to be most skilled, 2nd most skilled now
SOR= Third most skilled server in tier 1, used to be 2nd most skilled.
I wish we had the 24/7 coverage skill. Unfortunately, you have to pay for it.
Why do they always do server maintenance during Jade Quarry primetime?
Interesting. Didn’t know Jade Quarry had it’s very own prime time.
Yeah it’s whenever the PvDooring starts.
I’m not going to say anything about WM because the last time I ever fought WM they fielded enough members to fight off servers in T1.
I will say though that I find it very ironic and laughable that you want to play the “saviors” of a “dying server” when you’ve left two servers in tiers they didn’t belong in and let them crumble to the bottom. Good job saving those servers.
I will also say that there are reasons the Blackgate was “dying” and why guilds were leaving that server. Enjoy finding them out when you decide to go back to T8.
He’s talking about EU T1, you’re talking about NA T1.
Compare:
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#EU
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NAAlthough US t1 becomes unbalanced overnight with JQ’s coverage, the situation is much worse in terms of balancing, obviously, in EU.
http://i.imgur.com/CMOlMBL.png seems pretty unbalanced to me.
Whoops… completely forgot there was EU servers and that we shared the same forums.
I ve been playing since the release of the game. I recommended the game to alot of people and alot of people quit beacouse of same reason that is happening to me. I didnt get about of 10000 tokkens cause i dced at the last boss in dungeons and than everyone left the party. this is the top reason why i want to quit the game and im a very loyal and calm player but when this happened so many times i broke my keyboard firs time in my life beacouse the rage… I mean all those hours wasted for nothing you could at least do something like if a player is in dungeon for 80 % he gets tokkens on mail at the end or something. If i had a job everyday i dont know how much time i would waste on this and i can imagine people who work everyday than this happenes to them and thats why people quit.. also i spent 10 pristine fractal relics for nothing cause i didnt know that u cant have 2 defensive ascended rings so that could be more visible like a warning when u buy or something i know its my mistake that i didnt read on wiki but some things could be visible also in the game when u buy it. I really have to say it is a wery great game the best mmo i played but u really need to change at least some things to lower the rage
Alright so…. this is not ArenaNet’s fault but your connections fault, or your connection with another party member. The only reason I ever DC’d is because I was partied with someone from Thailand while I’m on the West Coast of the US and the connection was bad. Try seeing if you group with people regularly and if you join their party you start getting massive lag. This only happened once to me, and I’ve been playing since release as well and have never missed a daily. The only other times I’ve DC’d is when ArenaNet tells us an hour ahead that in the next hour you may lose connection.
As for getting the reward, using the mail system might be a good idea if people miss out, or having the chest remain until you open it (remain in the bottom right corner of your screen).
Personally I also work 40+ hours a week, and on my weekends I log in to GW2 to do the daily and that’s about it. I don’t feel like time is wasted. I only feel like time is wasted if I’m unemployed and am playing this game all the time.
Here’s a funny story. I’m running FOTM with my guild. For once, I’m not in TS (was at a friends house, so I was on my laptop and not my desktop). We get to the dredge. I’m the thief. The party leader is a mesmer. I mistimed a jump ONCE due to my laptop being a bit more laggy than my desktop. The mesmer leaves and switches to her thief. And…. we disconnect.
It was our third fractal on lvl 30. We disconnect and lose all progress because someone had a massive brain fart.
Are these like Magic Find? Do you get a higher chance to get better loot when you have a higher personal reward level, or does it just effect the daily chest at the end of the dungeon?
I’m at 29 FOTM, and people lower than me seem to be getting the fractal weapons, infused rings, and constantly getting rares and exotics out of chests. ArenaNet said MF doesn’t effect this.
I run with my guild, and sometimes the one person that makes the FOTM take too long is the one getting all the loot. The “RNG” in this game needs to be fixed immediately as well.
You should always try to have the north area of your own BL and the corner of EBG.
Ummm what?
As an SoR player and former BG player I can say that the only real issue with T1 is how much JQ outmans the other two servers and after weeks and weeks of having no chance of competing for the top spot due to coverage it’s making WvW incredibly boring.
I’d be fine with the coverage in this game if it wasn’t such a huge deciding factor. The only thing that really changes the scores is if one server plays for days straight or gain new guilds or others lose them. It’s a shame really.
The game designed doesn’t really allow for a subscription fee. WoW has content in the game that is designed to keep you playing for ages and ages, buying themselves time to make new content. Their content lasts a long time because they limit how often you can do it or makes it take ages to do it. It’s why WoW is such a boring waste of time.
On a side note, the GW2 developer team is about 12x larger than the development team of GW1.
Yeah. I love this game. I just wish that some of the patches had “fixes” that actually fixed things rather than made WvW more annoying. The only thing that made WvW fun was the removal of culling.
But, I do know that some of their ideas take a LONG time to make. People think this is all GW2 is. GW1 players know that even the continent of Tyria is not even close to being 50% released. We still have Cantha and Elona to visit, and a lot more Elder Dragons. During all these PvE releases, there is no doubt WvW and other aspects of the game will get some more polish in that time.
But really, I just wish ArenaNet would stop touching things and listening to the QQ community. Confusion was NEVER broken.
again, score update please!
Is the score ever really different? JQ is in the lead, likely going to win again because they’ve got the coverage. SoR is about 4k points ahead of BG and BG is about 4k points behind SoR.
Not much is going to really change, besides the gaps getting bigger and occasionally BG will pull 48 hour shifts.
WM back in the day (from SBI) appeared to be able to fill every single BL with their guild alone. They were the reason SBI had it’s success. It went to Kaineng and started pushing the worst server to T1. Eventually it seemed each week they were doing worse and worse (at least Kaineng was). My guess is people got bored of the repetitive crap that is WvW nowadays while ArenaNet ignores the real problems with WvW and people just ended up quitting.

Iconic Guild in Sanctum of Rall is looking for more members to join our friendly and active community.
Every week on Mondays we have a guild meeting to share any information and ideas we have for future guild events. Every Tuesday we do Guild Missions. Everyday we have multiple people always up for FOTM.
We are more of a casual guild, but do have some serious members in the guild. We have been doing FOTM daily and most our members are high 20s to 30.
We also have members that like to do other things like WvW, dungeons, PvE, and Spvp. We also notify each other of meta events.
We have a guild TS and website. You will almost always find members in the guild TS that are up to doing anything.
We are mainly an NA guild. We do most our FOTM runs around 6-7pm PST (SoR server time). We are also a fairly small community of about 10 members, but we always do things together. We have a total of 64 members in the guild, most logging in at least once a week. There is just a core of 10 of us that are on just about every night.
Please send me ingame mail or a PM if you are interested in joining.
Wait so Agg, EMP, and Icoa left JQ/BG and went to Dragonbrand? Or is it just a small group of those guilds that decided to leave the big one and start a new one?
One major issue that is failing with WvW is that it’s the same matchups every single week and the only reason certain servers are winning is simply due to coverage and numbers, rather than skill and gameplay. ArenaNet needs to reset and make server transfers free again, and reward players that go to lesser populated servers. Another issue is to make it so the points per tick goes down to like 1 pt per tower when one server greatly outnumbers the other servers.
WvWvW isn’t that, it’s PvDoor for 12 hours and WvW for the other 12.
I’d like to see WXP awared for reviving allies, be it players or NPCs, and building siege. Also if somehow we can get implemented where if we’re scouts or watchguards we’re rewarded.
When I play WvW with my smaller guild, we often have one objective and defend it, and I let the larger guilds know of the situation. The come in and roflstomp the enemy. Who is the hero in all this? Well, not to boast, but if someone wasn’t there to know of the situation, that objective could have been lost. It’d be nice to get some WXP somehow for doing such things, although I do understand how it can be incredibly difficult to implement something like that without people instantly finding ways to exploit it.
Here is the two areas of skill in WvW.
- Being a great leader.
- Being a great follower.
You aren’t doing much if you aren’t either of those two.
As for being poor, you’re on JQ. You guys get wiped pretty often, so I can understand the repair bills. But, as an SoR player, all I have to do is follow one of the many decent guilds on our server and I can make a few gold and hundreds of badges in a few hours. It’s almost as profitable as lvl 20 FOTM, which is where the game starts picking up to the average player.
I have every class at 80, and for solo play I stick to my thief. I play a more survival thief.
10/30/30/0/0
D/P
SB
The reason being….
Still very high dps.
A bit of toughness to survive some bigger hits.
Everytime you stealth, you gain health.
Dagger/Pistol imo is better than Dagger/Dagger. Shadow Shot is amazing to chase down fleeing foes. You can also almost permablind enemies. I’ve solo’d warriors without them hitting me once.
Daggerstorm to clear a camp. With signet of malice you absolutely never go down unless there is a buff.
The main reason I like it is because I can roam around freely, and if you ever get stuck in a bad situation, you always have a way out. With blindingpowder and heartseeker, you can stealth without having to hit an enemy.
I play a Charr thief. Why is it whenever any party I’m in I’m always the one kiting the Mossman? He’s after me 99% of the time. The other 1% is when I’m dead. He’s an easy boss simply because no one else has to worry about aggro except me.
Are bosses designed so that they hate certain classes and/or races over others?
Also, is Open Grave and Fancy Footwork achievements bugged? I’ve done these so many times and have not received them.
1) JQ, you guys have better coverage than us. We only have NA coverage. It’s not fair.
OCX and AFS , two large wvw guilds, transfer to SOR to add to an already strong off peak coverage (Most of SBI oceanic/asian guilds transferred to SOR).2) JQ, you guys have a better SEA coverage than us. It’s not fair.
-On a Saturday, it was JQ zerg vs SOR zerg towards the end of SEA time zone. SOR zerg got wiped repeatedly.3) JQ, you guys have FOO. FOO should not participate in the match this week. It’s not fair.
-uhhhh.. what?
There is a common theme I’ve noticed about Blackgate and JQ. Both know absolutely nothing of SoR.
Everytime I’ve ran with Fear/TW/Hire/Choo, I hardly see wipes, and I follow their commanders daily. I’ve wiped JQ a hell of a lot more times than I’ve seen any of SoR get wiped. So, I’d like to see some decent evidence of you wiping SoR zergs.
Secondly, I was on during the SEA timezone all of last night. We had a zerg of 20. We were map hopping to try to save stuff, but we were losing things left and right because JQ simply PvDoors, and queues up every map while SOR would have to quadrople the size of their online forces to fill up just one map. So, the whole “large guilds stacking on our server” is a flawed argument.
Third, as an NA player that works graveyard so I can play whenever I want on weekends, I’ve hardly ran into this FOO guild. Not entirely sure who they are, but I see a lot of people talk about them and I have a feeling they were the ones PvDooring last night.
All I know is JQ is an overly stacked server that “Wins” based on PvDoor and consistently runs even from zergs that are 1/3 the size of their zerg. If you actually had as much skill as you guys had talk, you’d actually go to a server where you need to compete against players rather than doors instead of hiding behind the masses.
Dang, it is true that JQ players are like Laker fans. Full of crap, big egos, know nothing about the game, and don’t know the difference between an actual win and a dishonorable one.
Found two SoR hackers today around 6pm EST, one of them is chilling in our almost t3 tower. Though I don’t have proof that the tagless one was hacking but you’ll just have to trust me.
I don’t exactly see how these guys were hacking. It is odd that they are inside of a tower that is T2 but I’ve heard of Thieves spending hours in a tower/keep hiding. Sorry, I don’t trust people that scream hacker whenever they see something fishy. I’ve been called a hacker in many games all the time, and the only time it was legit was when I used map hacks in Diablo 2… which everyone did. I’m not denying that someone may have been hacking, but you’d need to show more proof than just pictures of two guys.

This is the time of the day when WvW is ruined. I’ve been part of “karma trains” before and it gets boring fast. Not entirely sure how JQ can even enjoy playing the game doing this daily. I hope ArenaNet figures out how to make WvW competitive rather than it being ultra stacked server that pvdoors vs server that buys guilds vs server that actually competes and tries hard to win.
Great job tonight those in SoR BL. Great response to when JQ had 40+ in Bay circle and ended up wiping, and then stopping BG from trying to 2v1 and take Hills.
JQ, who was the commander in that massive zerg on SOR that tried taking Bay? Why would you try building 3 pieces of siege in a supply camp and never be able to finish it? Got to work on your tactics….
Hmm, not quite sure as i wasn’t on that map, but i wouldn’t be so judgemental of other commanders and their tactics. It’s possible that a few PuGs decided that they wanted to make an impenetrable fortress out of the supply camp and the commander told them not to built the siege.
I mean, when BG was trying to treb bay from Briar tower, they kept putting trebuchets (superior and normal) progressively closer and closer to the edge even when we were destroying them. I must have meteor showered 5 trebs before the BG zerg came and killed me for my hubris. Despite that, the commander could have said “who has a treb” and some overzealous PuG might have just plopped one down wherever he was standing.
Anyway, SoR, you guys seem to be getting on earlier and earlier. Just today we had an SoR map-hopping zerg of 60+ made up of random guilds golem rush literally our entire map in succession. Having only about 20 EMP + a few rather squirrely pugs, we were entirely unable to halt their advance, and they took 3 fully upgraded keeps in fairly quick succession. It was a pretty incredible push, and despite the numbers advantage, i have to say that you guys were fairly well organized.
Maybe this is a sign that SoR is starting to pose more of a serious threat outside of NA primetime, I know that they got at least a few transfers (TSYM and AFS). JQ of course has the numbers to compete with generally whatever we come up against, the trick is just convincing people and guilds to actually be in WvW when we need them. JQ does tend to get complacent so maybe this will be a wake up call to the entire server and get more people playing again.
To paraphrase the late Steve Erwin:
“Look there, it’s a JQ crocodile, one of the most dangerous beasts in the WvW everglades, I’m gonna go poke it with a stick” -SoR
Thumbs up for the Steve Erwin reference. Miss that guy.
On a side note, it is possible it was a complete PuG zerg, but JQ had nothing on the map and was completely outmanned, and all of a sudden there was a mass invasion of JQ attacking Bay and Greenvale. When we were pushed out of Greenvale from that zerg, the entire masses stood on the hilltop with an unfinished treb and did nothing except try to man mode the gate. It seemed there wasn’t much coordination at all, but the whole flock of JQ all of a sudden appearing makes me believe there was a coordinated invasion of the entire BL planned.
Either way it was a fun fight. Shame I had to leave so early.
Great job tonight those in SoR BL. Great response to when JQ had 40+ in Bay circle and ended up wiping, and then stopping BG from trying to 2v1 and take Hills.

Arenanet showed up to WvW to respond to the constant calls of 2v1 and the problems that Blackgate is having in T1.

The end result….
I’m sick of facepalming to these posts. People have been WvWing for over 7 months now, and some newbie to it comes in, follows the wrong commander, and complains that the game is broken and that it’s the worst PvP out there.
Experience is the best knowledge. You lack the experience of doing WvW, thus, you have no knowledge of it, thus your opinions on it are invalid until you take the time to actually play the gamemode.
Should be interesting to see how the additions of TSYM and AFS play out for us. I expect a big push from SoR this week.
Good luck JQ….
… and BG ;p
I expect SoR to be a more competent force than the past several weeks. They definitely have a good chance to place 2nd consistently with the guilds who transferred in as well as several notable BG guilds leaving to T8 (lol).
Several as in two small guilds? Lol.
Like…. yours?
Had some great fun earlier tonight until my client crashed. I guess it’s a good thing since I was needing a reason to get off but following Tsym was giving me so many bags and rank points. Just got done hanging with some friends, now time to hop back in!
I haven’t had much of an issue with this, but I have wondered if I’ve ever left a bag behind… and if that one bag holds a legendary precursor.
I’ve been a huge GW2 fan and played the heck out of GW1. ArenaNet changed direction by somehow making it so everything ended up being about the Elder Dragons.
Now I’m a bit curious as to which the Karka, Molten Alliance, and things like the Super Adventure Box really have to do with the Elder Dragons and when we will be getting new Elder Dragons and how Cantha and Elona will come into place, and any other continent on Tyria. We have small bits of lore about Cantha and Elona, and the remaining Elder Dragons still have quite an impact on the current world, but we have yet to travel to the depths of Tyria. We have yet to travel to the far northern Shiverpeaks, and we have yet to visit the Crystal Desert.
What exactly do these Karka and Molten Alliance have to do with the lore ArenaNet has created with the Dragons? Are the Dredge and Flame Legion making one final push? Are the Karka the minions of the Infamous Dragon known as “Bubbles”? Is Southcove always going to be a barren wasteland that’s only use is two oricalcum nodes?
ArenaNet always has stated about the March 26th update that NO, that is NOT everything we’ll be getting.
WvW, and all of GW2, is an evolving game with evolving players. There will be tons of updates throughout the course of GW2s lifespan.
May I remind people that GW2 has been out for 7 months, still has a very active and large community, and has only 1 Elder Dragon available and has only introduced 1 extra map. This game has a long ways to go, and WvW still has a lot that can change within.
I never will understand why Blackgate decide to headbutt a fully fortified keep on SoR-BL when they own nothing in there own BL.
If nothing has changed since I was there, they assign guilds to each borderland, so the ones in their borderland were likely failing miserably and the ones assigned to SoR BL stuck there.
As the poster above said, it takes time for updates to come out.
Also, zerging isn’t something ArenaNet has created. It’s the players choice to zerg or not to zerg.
If you’re also getting steam rolled when running as a small group, that’s your lack of skill, not any gameplay issue. I run with a guildy or two and we are very productive and what we do. And on SoR we have a teamspeak in which any SoR member can use, so coordination is there, in which small groups can take towers.
If the game is all zerg vs zerg, then that is your servers gameplay error, not ArenaNets. They’d have to overhaul their entire WvW in order to get rid of zerging, at which point these massive guilds would be dead.
Wait now I’m confused. Can someone post some evidence of this? It’d be amazing to see less maps and more well thought out ones. It’s annoying seeing a server own all of their BL and struggling everywhere else but being able to keep a steady PPT.
What is the game content rating (ESRB ratings) is set at? ages 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 ?
I’ll Answer,The ESRB has given Guild Wars 2 a “T for Teen” rating based on the game’s periodic vulgarity and “stylized blood effects.”, rewarding violent behavior, have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older.
A parent and/or Guardian has every right to let their children play whatever game they see fit. My brother’s ex-girlfriend let her son play Grand Theft Auto at age 7. There’s a reason he dumped her.
It’s awesome to see people of all ages get a good kick out of Guild Wars 2.
Welcome to SoR
This doesn’t seem like much of a challenge. The only challenge is getting the other team to be so stupid to not sweep for obvious thieves.
that means, bg is gone with 2 major guilds + 1 medium size guild saying bbye.
What? Why would guilds be leaving Blackgate? That’s a good server, puts up one helluva fight… dang. Looks like JQ broke another one.
They can be tough as they want, but if they got some dramas with the other guild or the server itself – They won’t last. And thats what just happened. They might be a good server, but without a strong community and nope nope they wont last in the long run.
This is exactly what I expected. Blackgate lacks a solid community. They are numbers, and nothing more. Expect well… now they’re badges and gold.
I find it quite ironic that BG continues to complain about 2v1. After the game patched JQ and BG both did a mad dash at Hills and Bay. JQ then attacked full force into SoR Garrison, and during that time, BG then takes the time to attempt to take bay.
As a result, while BG flipped bay SoR’s zerg made it into inner and wiped the BG and took bay. While that was happening, JQ took hills likely as retaliation.
There is no 2v1, and when it was BG and JQ “2v1ing” against SoR, BG decided to attack JQ when they could have taken SoR (the PPT leader) out of taking much on their BL and being forced to only defend.
If you continuously annoy someone, they’re eventually going to punch you in the face.
Tonight is going to be an interesting night…
I’m loving this new patch! Had a few epic battles and was able to see everything that was going on! It feels like a brand new game, and I’m being serious. Goodbye culling! Well done ArenaNet…. well done…
Waiting in queues are fun! You can like… do jumping puzzles that no one does and gives no rewards! yay fun!
Do you not see the message at the top of these forums saying “WvW temporarily Disabled”?
Just an FYI, WvW players complain about everything and are never satisfied.
yes but not with the entire player base which is likely causing this issue
5 minutes of WvW, then disconnect. 5 more minutes, then DC. More 5 more minutes… DC…
I will say it does ruin the whole fact it’s a JUMPING puzzle, but anything to get past that dark room…
Just give commanders the ability to undeploy siege. It’s not hard
100g to troll your server. I guess that is the current situation with half of the commander population isn’t it.
