Nothing catches up to a d/d ele.

For mobility you need a gs really, otherwise you will be slow as a turtle. This only really matters in PvP though, you don’t need to move terribly fast in PvE.

I just realized if you get map stuck on loading screen, if a new map loads (end of match, map change), you will load correctly on the new map. Normally when i get map stuck, i just close the game, but the last time it happened i said screw it, match is almost over i’ll wait and see. Dunno if i got glory, if it looked like i was dead-afk, or afk-at-spawn, but it worked.

Still pretty stupid though, and not worth the wait unless the match is really close to over.

Burst abilities do you use them?

This is actually a fine exsample of why Warriors are the most balanced and most finished class in this game. Building and spending adrenaline as fast as possible as well as trying to keep it full at all times are both perfectly valid options, what’s better for you and your build depends on your choices.

Just the way it’s supposed to be.

I kind of gotta disagree. At least for PvE, most of the times its not worth it to use you’re adren if you have heightened focus/berserker’s power. Burst skills are more useful in PvP where the additional effects matter (stun on hammer/mace and snare on sword) The gs and axe ones are basically never good, pve or pvp since the pure damage from the skill does not offset the subsequent loss in damage afterwards.

Condition thief is by far the hardest to deal with. They don’t kill you fast, but they kite you around, bleed and cripple you and all the round make you feel silly (caltrops ugh). Only time i beat these reliably is when i’m using a condition build myself (thieves in general are weak to most condition builds)

I always run with a warhorn with Quick Breathing, along with Mending, so with that there’s rarely any problem getting rid of conditions (unless I’ve ended up solo against a group, and even then 50% of the time I survive long enough to get back to a group of teammates). I did have Shake It Off too but to be honest Endure Pain is more helpful when you’ve got lots of other condition removal.

I’m talking strictly sPvP, unless you really use a warhorn and deep tactics in sPvP which would be really unusual. And “surviving to get back to teammates” isn’t exactly winning. If i really wanted to run i could also by popping mending > balance stance > gs 3 > gs 5 > bulls rush, but that isn’t gonna win you many sPvP matches.

From what I gather so far, seems like glass cannon builds are doing very well for warriors. Are there any shout heal build warriors out there with similar results?

Couple classes with specific builds have gotten an eyebrow raised, and I’d like to experience fighting those more:

- d/d mega health regen ele’s (i find them to be literally uncatch’able when they are on the run)
- bunker guards (deals good dmg considering the amount of dmg they mitigate)
- constant stealth thieves (wonder if it’s even possible to catch them inbetween stealths)
- bunker necros (can seem to tank pretty hard along with decent dmg from conditions. and also their second bar of life)

Can’t really kill much of anything on a shouts heal warrior (i’m assuming your going full support). Its useful if you pair up with a glass cannon though who can take advantage of your cc chain (ie a thief, or another 100b war).

You won’t see constant stealth thieves in spvp at all, that’s a gimmick that only matters in wvw. d/d ele i honestly don’t know.

I rolled a d/d ele a few days ago to learn more about how to fight against it (best way to learn how to fight something is to play it and see the strength/weakness), and all i learned is i don’t think its possible. It has massive health regen, a good amount of cc, and the ability to outrun ANYTHING if it gets in a bad spot (air 4 > fire 3 > blink = have fun chasing me) It naturally comes with 2 stun breaks as well alot of damage invulnerability. I honestly don’t think warrior can beat it 1v1 unless the d/d ele is way less skilled; they can just slowly chip you down with burns and bleeds, and probably end the fight at full hp from the constant regens.

Thanks for the replys guys, If anyone has details as to why they bring certain things It’d be appreciated.

Well its pretty simple, warrior utilities basically fall under a few catagories:

Self-buffs: signets
Team buffs: shouts/banners
PvP designed skills: physical skills
Others: stances.

Signet build is fine obviously for solo play. In teamplay, you might as well bring team buffs, since well….. your team is gonna benefit from it more than just you running signets. Imagine if everyone went into a dungeon with a signet build; No one would be able to support each other and half the time you will be picking someone off the ground (this happens every time there’s a signet warrior in party already)

So for dungeon bring shouts and/or banners. You don’t even necessarily be traited into healing shouts or regen banners or anything like that.

For example: For great justice gives you AND your party 3 perma stacks of might (105 power at lvl 80 at all times), as well as fury (20% crit) for a good amount, whereas the signet counterpart gives you 90 power at all times (and 40 prec if you traited that way) Yet I see people STILL take signet of might instead of FGJ in signet builds at lvl 80. It literally makes no sense. If you have any sort of boon duration buff, you can maintain 6 stacks of might also

From my experiences,

Using typical GS + mace/shield. 20/20/10/0/20, sPvP only; WvW fights are complete random bullkitten and not really useful information-wise.

Hard match-up to beat:
d/d ele
condition builds (thief in particular)
mesmer (any type)
bunker engie

Easy match-up to beat:
none really. Maybe bs thief since i’m really used to fighting them. Most rangers are not too difficult either. The rest of the matchups i think are all roughly even, i don’t ever feel like warrior absolutely crushes another matchup 1sidedly the way say a mesmer can just roll a warrior ezmode.

From my experiences and all of my fellow mates that I do tournaments with, we always get the loading screen bug when respawning with the scoreboard open. That was a consistent way we were able to reproduce the bug. It’s the same deal in hotjoin too.

Yea i noticed this just now too, got map stuck 3 times in the last 1 hr or so, i think i was checking scoreboard while trying to use wp. happened in 3 different maps under 2 different classes (war and as ele)

The same reason every other class gets picked first instead of warrior. They bring more to the table with less hassle.

Just wait until the 14th, the balance patch.

Did they directly say a warrior buff? Because we waited patch after patch for a change and all we got was underwater speargun buffs and 10% damage to lb auto attacks.

I’d prefer a direct warrior buff instead of nerfs to other classes.

edit: actually after watching the video i’m even less convinced warrior will get a buff. They admit that warrior seems OP to noobs (100b + frenzy) but is complete garbage in competitive games, and that they don’t know how to buff warrior at the top level without completely destroying the casual player base.

I don’t see any buffs coming tbh lol……..

Now in a 1on1 situation where both players are downed, the warrior is indeed very strong here, but that’s the trade off the warrior gets for having by far the weakest #2 downed skill (single target knock down with a semi long cast time)

Warrior’s 2 is NOT the worst.
The worst is Engineer’s 2.

How is it worse? They serve the same function (single target interrupt).

Warrior’s version has a ONE SECOND CAST TIME. Engie’s does not lol. Someone standing above you , you throw 1 rock too many by accident, they can stomp you before you finish your knockdown skill. Yes the engie version pulls them to you, but you are only gonna use your KNOCKDOWN skill to interrupt a STOMP anyways which means they are already RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, it doesn’t matter.

Warrior #2 skill is still the worst.

Silver doubloons used to be dirt cheap. I bought all mine at ~2-3silver and there was almost no demand for them. They only exploded in price after the precurosr-pinata event.

You realize in a 1v1 situation if you down the warrior you have a 100% chance to stomp him before he can pop vengeance if you don’t waste more than 2 seconds before starting the first stomp?

If you can’t stomp him once before 2 seconds (ie health too low), you back off and heal, then attack him from distance to stop him from healing. Once he pops vengeance, you run away and kite till he dies again. Its actually stupidly easy….

All forms of mesmer typically beat warrior easy, its very, very difficult for warrior to beat a good one. You HAVE to have a gs to have even a remote shot against a mesmer, its the only way to clear their clones reasonably fast (whirl and bladetrail good for this). Most of the time though they just kite you to death slowly though, and the only way to win is for them to make a mistake, sadly enough

Thief, it depends. Once you get used to fighting theives its actually not too bad, i typically win more than i lose since i’m so experienced going against it (since you see them soooooooo often in spvp hotjoin).

BS d/d thieves are fairly easy, if you can swap to a shield before they start the HS spam, you will probably block 2-3 hs, they will be out of initiative and then you cc chain and burst them down. These are the most common types of thieves you will see

Pistol whip is a bit harder imo than bs thieves. If your stun break is down, your even more screwed than if vs a bs thief, otherwise its a similar strategy. They typically have more evasive tricks than a bs thief meaning they can reset fights easier though.

Ideally, in order to bunker we need consistent healing and/or protection boon. I doubt they will give us protection since we have high HP as a class.

I do think more healing is possible to give us; maybe some sort of life-leeching trait (would keep in theme as an “aggressive” form of healing instead of passive healing)

I’ve tried all the typical warrior builds (shouts heal + hammer as support/bunker, middle of the road axe/mace – 1v1ish build, condition s/s – anti bunker/kite build, and glass cannon gs – strait blow someone up build) and in the long run, glass cannon gs sadly enough provides the most use, and has less “terrible” match-ups since there’s always a chance you catch someone off guard and/or outplay them and gib them even if you would normally be at a disadvantage.

How long does it last 2v1?

TBH, if you ran a tank-shouts heal hammer + mace/shield, you can usually stall 1v1 almost any class. I haven’t found a way to survive very long 2on1 though, there’s just not enough self heal/damage reduction on warrior to stall 2on1 the way a bunker guardian or ele or even engie can.

Lol shouldn’t be the comparison at all.

Diablo 3 should be. Blizz shipped an incomplete product (not saying anet did this) and then took too long to fix the endgame. By the time 1.04 patch came out to fix alot of things, droves of people had long since quit and didn’t care to come back. You really only have a small window of time to really hook people to your game before they move on to the next, new thing.

Its already happening in gw2 tbh. Alot of the members of my guild quit after the addition of the fractal dungeons (and ascension gear treadmill). For people that don’t want to grind gear, the PvP needs to be what hooks them; and while i enjoy the sPvP, it feels well……. really CASUAL, and not at all competitive which is bad in the long run.

Yup the biggest problem with math-crafting is it bases a lot its assumptions off of tooltips. That’s why i said you’re better off just trying it out in actual combat (or if you want, on a dummy) Its pretty obvious that 100b will deal more damage over that time.

The fact that endure pain still says it lasts 5 seconds should tell you ALL you need to know about the accuracy of gw2 tooltips.

Yup thieves are pretty annoying underwater. Can’t really engage in melee; i’m a warrior and in general i prefer to be right on top of someone underwater, but i always try to use harpoon if i see a thief, otherwise i know they just gonna dance around me (as stupid as that sounds) underwater.

You could do fine if you swap to a dps weapon set. It won’t be amazing by all means, but if you’re already in a group with guardian(s) you’re usually better off running with more dps gear.

You could also try 20/20/0/30/0 if you want a middle-of-the-road build that can go high dps or somewhat tanky/support based on gear. I run that with either a zerker set + ruby orbs, or a soldier set with soldier runes, depending on if there is a guardian in the party or not.

Well the mace isn’t for damage its for self-preservation. You get an extra block, daze, and stun. The stun is useful for setting up HB. The weakness of mace is lack of cripple, so it is possible to be kited if they dodge your daze and/or shield stun. Takes a bit of time to get used to mace, but once you do, its hard to go back.

They should just make the banner range alot larger. Like 1200 circular aoe range, that way people actually benefit from them (most fights you need to spread out and be mobile so only 1-2 people max get banner benefit in general)

I was a big fan of GW1 which is why I’m still here hoping beyond hope that Dev’s will wake up and correct it.

Im sorry but didnt assasins spike as hard in gw1 exept some tanks which arent burstable in here too.

watch from 45 seconds. You see assasin spike people in 1-2 seconds.

Yea but in that game you had monks……. Burst damage is countered by burst healing/shields. There’s alot less “active” support in gw2. How many times have you seen a thief pop out of nowhere and intiate a steal/cnd/backstab/hs/hs/hs combo on a teammate and been unable to stop him and/or save your teammate in time, only to watch him either run away after or stealth + stomp him…..

I’m not saying i’m against the burst damage in this game; I actually prefer quick fights compared to the long, drawn-out endurance matches that wow pvp was, but you can’t compared gw1 and gw2 pvp, they are not in anyway similiar.

Hardest to easiest class

Its all subjective.

Thief definitely feels the easiest though, especially a backstab build. Warrior is also somewhat easy (its like a thief with way less survival/escape options) Bunker guardian is also extremely easy to play as well.

Ranger’s probably the hardest, i rarely see anyone do well with a ranger, aside from being maybe a little annoying. The rest are all around the same imo, not terribly easy or difficult.

I have been thinking about this. Are all three 1h weapons viable with the 20/30/0/0/20 setup, or are trait changes necessary?
Talking standard
strength (damage buff and gs damage buff)
Arms (vulnerability, gs buff, auto quickness)
Discipline (crit damage buff, move from immobile)

I figured for mace/shield would use (+50% crit in arms) but for sword/shield do you think any changes are necessary?

Pretty much any 1h can be used. I actually run 20/20/10/0/20 now instead of the 30 in precision, mainly for the projectile reflect when using shield stance (pretty kitten good sometimes, i get people to 1/2 life with just the projectile reflect)

I also use sweet vengeance instead of movement skills break immobilize. Sweet vengeance is easier to take advantage of in sPvP, and i see the movement breaking immobilize as a more of a WvW trait since getting binded in a bad spot there means insta-gibed (where as getting binded in spvp isn’t so much so)

Between 1h weapons though id take either a mace(what i use) or a sword, since both will give you an extra option when it comes to setting up a 100b. Axe gives you access to a lil more damage on melee swings and an adren dump though, so its still a solid option. Mace/shield has enough cc built in that you can often get them to waste a stun-break there, which will make a bull rush combo more likely to land.

It does noticeably more than your auto attack……

Instead of math-crafting some garbage, actually go play some pvp and try killing stuff without using it, then try killing stuff while using it, and then you will see.

Playing warrior is all about baiting out the enemy’s rolls and stunbreaks before setting up a cc > frezny > 100b.

20-30-0-0-20 or some variation of this is somewhat standard. And as mentioned, you don’t go sword for condition damage unless you’re going ALL-IN on condition damage weapons.

You can pair anything up with a shield tbh (and a shield offset is required for spvp). I personally use mace + shield; serves a similar function as a sword in that i can use the mace burst skill then to gs for 100b. Sword works well for this, and even axe is fine (won’t have the extra setup potential for 100b, but you get more damage from an axe overall than a sword or mace)

In all fairness, most of them are expensive, there’s only a few that are stupidly easy to make (didn’t know there were any that easy, but they are for weapons i can’t use/aren’t interested in.)

I would not go for condition damage at all if I were you. GS and Sword both benefit from power and precision, but only sword benefits from condition damage. If you’re going condition damage on a warrior, its either all or none, meaning go s/s+ long bow, don’t half kitten it or your just gonna be sub-optimal.

Cooking is pretty cheap, just did 0-400 on an alt. Cost me i think ~2gold 20 silver? Used karma on my main to get alot of the ingredients as well. It gets progressively CHEAPER the higher you get in cooking, which is weird heh. The last 125 levels or so cost me almost nothing.

Molten lodestone prices climbed a bit, but relatively steady. Gotta be patient really. I see people try to collect all at once (and waste alot of money)

I made alot of lodestones by combining, but i’m running super low on crystals now. Its more efficient to combine cores if you have the skill points available for crystals.

I need about 70 more molten lodestones, should just barely have the gold to cover this after i liquidate the final bit of collectables i have stashed. (thats a slow process too heh.)

Need conditional Spvp warrior help

I run with sup runes of afflicted when i play condition. As an added bonus, you apply poison (death nova) when you get downed, which has surprisingly won me fights now and then.

In the end its a pretty gimmicky build. It does well against a certain things (some bunkers, and thieves), but gets dumped any sort of team that has even half-decent condition removal. Glass cannon GS is still the safest choice at the moment, as weird as that sounds.

Best Race for Warrior?

The best race will always be asura. And racials don’t matter at all.

The size differential is really powerful. In this game you need to be able to react instantly to visual information/clues based on your opponent’s animation (and take the appropriate action like dodge/block). It is ALOT harder to see what skills an asuran are using at times, where as its REALLY REALLY obvious when a norn or char does some important-to-dodge skill.

The benefit to a norn/char though is they are huge which makes showing off your shiny gears easier heh….. but gameplay wise, they are the worst for pvp.

Cooking is the only viable profession ?

Used to be able to make a small profit selling rare lvl 80 weapons. Its useful if you plan on throwing a bunch in the MF as well, since its usually a lil cheaper to craft them yourself than buy it off the TP.

None of the crafts are meant to be very profitable. Max-stat equipment in the GW series is meant to be reasonably easy to obtain.

Why does the Volcanus cost more now?

Lodestones required for this cost around 329-350 gold to make. Currently attempting to make this myself. I think destroyer lodestones have dropped in price since fractals came out but molten lodestones have risen a bit in the same time.

I need about 90 more molten lodestones and 10 more destroyer lodestones to finish. Basically gave up on legendary and liquidated all my collectables (hundreds of ectos, T6 mats, etc)

Its still technically easier to get a group for the lower level fractals than it is for the higher ones because there’s more people that have access to it.

Its alot harder when your in a mid-high tier and don’t have a stable group; you have to shout / lfg for quite awhile.

The Tiered/segmented nature of the dungeon is interesting, but its WAY too segmented. IMO, everyone within at least 5 levels of each other should be able to join the same group.

Watch the precursor prices for awhile. I think its still safe to hold one for ~2 months at least. I don’t see them adding the “scavenger hunt” thing for a good while, probably not until they decide to add new legendaries (and make the older ones “obsolete”)

Certain precursors are rising in price more than other (ie dusk) so i think dawn will rise quite a bit as well. The less popular precursors though i think will stay low for at least another few weeks.

Greatsword build for dungeons/PvE

I run 20/20/0/30/0.

Similar to the above build but instead of crack shot, i got the slashing power (gs trait) in str tree, and instead of leg specialist, i take empowered. I gear up similarly, with solider gear/runes and zerkers rings/ammy/earing. Its somewhat versatile, a bit “middle of the road” (60/40 offensive/defensive split imo) which is useful for dungeons because sometimes you might be the only heavy/melee in the group in which case going glass cannon can be difficult. This will let you have decent survival if you have to tank while letting you put out solid dps if you don’t need to. Healing shouts with condition removal is always useful imo.

I seriously hope the first and most important thing your fixing is DCed members not being able to rejoin the group.

Cause that’s about 100x more important than people saving 2~3 mins or so on the dredge level

Some nice ideas. The biggest fix we need aside from the bug fixes (fast hands, stance durations, tooltip errors?) imo is elite skills.

Rampage should theoretically be the PvP elite of choice, but its current state is terrible. You will do LESS damage with rampage skills than you would with your normal weapon (unless your on a super defensive set like mace/shield at the moment). The cc-skills are interesting but in the end, can be replicated in other areas very easily (hammer or physical utility skills). You can’t capitalize on the CC either since the damage in rampage form is terrible. Its only good for stability atm.

They either need to vastly buff the damage in the form (by at least 2x), or let you use normal weapon skills and add a different effect to the skill. (how about stability + remove all conditions + immune to conditions for the next 5 seconds or something lol)

ANet doesn’t suspend accounts just because someone reported the name as offensive. They have a group that reviews names and applies (or attempts to apply) a consistent policy about what is allowed and what is not.

Anyone who is suspended can ask ANet to re-evaluate the decision. As one would expect, most of the decisions are upheld on appeal (mostly because the name was “obviously” unsuitable), but some are overturned — perhaps the original team misunderstood the context or was too strict in enforcement.

Uh i doubt it is reviewed that much. I was forced to change my name twice, once literally just now.

It was “Unsanitary Napkin”. Tell me how that is offensive please?

Nerf silver rewards of easy dungeons

Wow… people will whine about anything.

Without AC having good silver drops people would stop running it completely. Higher tier dungeons not only drop cores/lodestones but you can convert the tokens into 70+ rares that can be SALVAGED for ECTOS. 1 run of CoF for example is 2 guaranteed rares; if you get 2 ectos from that you beat out an AC run easily. CoE you can do the same and you got a chance at CHARGED LODESTONES (i used to farm CoE like mad and made more money from charged lodestones when they were 2g50s than i did from AC seed runs)

Rampage, Stability & Boon Duration

Why would you want to use rampage against those harpies anyways. It would lock you into melee set (aside from the throw bolder skill).

Just shoot them with a rifle from range, and activate balanced stance when you see that red circle under you that indicates a ranged knockback spell incoming. The cd on that ability for the harpies is long enough that they shouldn’t use it more than once against you before you kill it.

I wish the duration was +1 second longer and/or the cd was ~5 seconds shorter.

Otherwise its a pretty solid skill. It is the main reason you pack a shield for sPvP (and is the 1 REQUIRED weapon for basically any warrior sPvP build)
