Have not noticed any loot nerf drops. Did a 1 hr karma session just now and got like 4 rares. I wear full MF gear and eat MF food if that helps.
You gotta basically log out, and i agree with you, on average i hit DR at about 45 mins of the boost.
They changed how DR works on karma though on the last patch so it doesn drop to like 85 karma instantly, it drops slowly to like 350 > 270ish. Either way i still log off once i hit dr and do something else. Not sure why there is karma DR anyways since its not an easy or efficient currency to convert into gold. Basically people that are farming it are farming it for legendaries and/or armor.
Forgot to check, did they at least fix the tooltip on endure pain yet so that it says 3 seconds and not 5? cause that seems like it should have been fixed by now……
I doubt it gets nerfed. Its good yes, and on a low cd, but its not as game-changing a skill or an ohkitten button like say…… time warp or thieves guild. Signet of rage is just a nice, consistent boost, but doesn’t have a HUGE affect like other classes elites.
Time warp is easily the best elite in the game really.
They need to also fix it so that either you can repair an alter, or they reset consistently/correctly. Its pretty stupid to lose multiple orbs because your alter is permanently broken, and your forced to try to take another keep while watching the orb reset and disappear because your alter is bugged.
Uh….. if you do WvW regularly, you probably already know who are the good and bad commanders anyways. If you don’t like them/think they are bad, just don’t follow them? Seems pretty simple to me. Yes, others will still follow them, the ones that don’t know but if there’s multiple commanders on the map, just follow the one(s) you know aren’t dumb. Whats the point of “blocking” them? so that you and only you can’t see the blue dot on their head? The one that you can totally ignore?
There’s competition yes, but there’s way more teamwork in this game compared to others between random strangers. There isn’t mob-tagging like in most MMO’s, so everyone gets some exp for helping. You even get a decent amount of exp resing random people. Dynamic events for the most part encourage teamwork among strangers, unless your in a really over-saturated event.
The competition in this game among random people in PvE is tiny really. I played ff11 for 6 years, and most of the endgame HNM’s that your linkshell would farm would be world spawns every 21-24 or 48-72 hours. Your group would have to camp the spots regularly against literally hundreds of others and try to be the first to tag the mob.
You get used to it. Most people are frustrated by it the first few times, but eventually you become numb to it. Anything red = fair game. Bring some buddies if you can’t handle getting killed. If you think borderland puzzles are bad, the one in EB is 10x worse.
I’m seeing precursors up for like 270+ gold now lol. By the time i farm that much, which would be months from now, the price would probably have at least doubled by then.
I’ll never get tired of my norn saying FIRE BURNS.
Wow 25/5/20/30/0? Where can i sign up for the extra 10 points ;o
Anyways, just mix some in slowly if you want to try some berserkers. You don’t have to go full set of either.
@Corvindi
we aren’t talking about mesmers, nor are we talking about rendering issues…..
Click the youtube link (if you don’t trust it, just go to youtube.com and search it yourself – it literally takes like 30 seconds to find clips of people using speed hacks. This isn’t mesmer bs)
Another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYqTaZ3mp-U

Axe and mace are both solid. Axe for more aoe/adren building, and mace for cc. I use dual axes myself most of the time. Sword offhand is pretty bad.
The biggest problem is the escapes really. The big front loaded burst i can understand; they are essentially the assassin class.
The problem is once they burn all their initiative (and alot of your hp at the same time), they can easily kite you around and escape you, then jump back on you while your still weakened and finish you off. The class’s only weakness which is being somewhat squishy is totally negated by its mobility and escape skills.
There is a speed hack. There was even a clip on youtube a day or 2 ago. Its not mesmer shenangans, its literally a guy running in, out and circles around a guy at like 4x speed while attacking him.
Edit: actually you can find a bunch of these on youtube now. Just type in something like “gw2 speed hacker”. Ignore the posts that are links on “how to get them” – they are obvious attempts at trying to get stupid people to dl malware.
Here’s an example of speed hacker in WvW though.

Most dungeon runs give me like 50 silver. 26 from completing, plus about that much from money drops and selling the trash. The occasional rare drop can also be sold for ~20 silver also.
Go to Lion’s Arch > take the Asuran portal to black citadel (char starting city) > walk outside. You are now in the zone which contains the Ascalon catacombs dungeon. Now walk to its location on the map. There will be a waypoint next to it that you can activate and use in the future for faster travel.
If that doesn’t help you reach it, i don’t know what will. If you have never been to Lion’s Arch before, enter sPvP heart of the mists > take the asuran portal there to Lion’s arch.
The dungeons are located on your world map and are marked as what looks like a gate/door. You do not need the e-mails to see them, they are just sent to you so that you know your high enough level to enter the instance.
As for how to get there, you do what everyone else does: walk. For example, I’m norn, and leveled primarily in the norn areas. The first 3 dungeons are in the char, human, and sylvari starting areas. The easiest way to get there is to head to lion’s arch > take the asuran portal to those races starting city, then walk outside. The first zone in each of those instances have the dungeons. Once you get higher leveled though, the dungeons move to more difficult/far away zones, but by then you should probably have mapped a good part of the world by then.
There is a HUGE difference between a natural 35-40ish and a scaled down 80 in exotics for this dungeon. Literally twice as much damage, and probably 50% more survivability.
Honestly, i’d say just wait until your higher level. Why do you need to farm tokens at 35-40 range? are you going to waste them on the low level rare armors? (really bad idea). Are you doing it for the exp? (kind of bad idea) Just wait till your like 70-80 in rares/exotics, and you will have a much easier time. You won’t waste as much money or time banging your head into the dungeon walls by trying to do it as a low level.
Alternatively, find a party of 4 level 80’s and leech off of them (yes you are leeching, but hopefully not too badly)
Yup, the last method is actually useful if the dungeon is bugged and can’t be completed (I’ve had to use it before that way)
Personally hope this question doesn’t get answered by too many people.
We all know what happened to our good friend Magg…..
Racials skills are basically garbage, and they basically removed almost any sort of racial imbalance in this game. Choose based on what is visually appealing to you.
My personal recommendation is asuran though, since they are small. This game has alot of jumping puzzles and i can tell you first hand, being a norn sucks SO MUCH for these. The camera goes bat-kitten insane, and i often have to “blind jump” in tight-knit areas when the camera decides it wants to be inside a wall, or right next to my backside. Smaller races like asurans won’t have to deal with this problem
Pretty sure Mesmer has the best elite skill in time warp………….
My advice, is to make sure you have ample time to complete it. I remember back when i first did it. Random PUG group i made, i had no idea about anything in the instance and neither did anyone else. Constant deaths/wipes/graveyard running. Took us like 3.5 hours to complete (huge chunk of that was on the lovers). Also get used to dodging. Its something you rarely/never need to use in solo PvE, but it is your life-line in dungeons.
If your melee, you need 1.) learn to look for “tells”. Most dungeon mobs that have high powered attacks have a tell for when they will use it. 2.) learn to dodge. when your solo pve, you basically never need to use this. This is the single, most important thing you need to learn to do when in a dungeon. This is the primary form of damage mitigation for every single class.
You can melee almost anything if you know what your doing. There’s only a few bosses where its completely impossible to melee, and thankfully every class can bring some form of ranged damage.
Another fix you might want to include while your at is, is giving the party an option to reset the instance.
For example, I was running AC exp path 1 yesterday, and it glitched towards the end (NPC would not trigger the “flag” required to open the door to the area where you grab the 5 scepter pieces, basically making it impossible to complete. Fine whatever, instances bug alot, nothing new. But in order to create a new instance, you have to log off > log into a different character > log off > log back on to your main. Seems silly, just give an option upon exiting the instance > re-entering, asking if you want to reset or continue. Not a huge deal, but semi-annoying.
Its pretty hard, thief is definitely a bit too strong. Their strength multiplies like crazy when there’s more than 1 of them, more so than say, 2 warriors together for example.
For being a “squishy” class, they have way too many ways to completely nullify damage and/or ez-mode escape.
I mash #1 just to be safe. Good habit to get into imo.
Chain them. Use something else to open for you.
Generally I run Hammer + axe and shield, and have either bolas or bulls charge as utility. This means i can open with axe / shield and start with #3 for cripple, or bolas/charge (or vise versa) this will usually guarantee at least 1 dodge attempt. From their, use shield stun #4 > swap into hammer > F1 > knock back > knock down. You can also just open with hammer, and do F1, it usually gets people, then chain whatever from there.
People skip trash whenever possible because 1.) its tedious 2.) they have alot of health making it even more tedious 3.) there’s no real reward for killing them so why waste time (its tedious)
Easy fix. Small, random chance trash will drop say…. 1 token here or there.
It depends mostly on who did the most damage on the kill. This is why being the person to flag secure the kill helps alot, because you usually can do like 30-40% of their downed health instantly + whatever damage you did to help get him downed.
Personally i get them about 20% of the time on kills (roughly 250 badges now on about 1200ish kills) but i run a tanky supportish warrior. Makes my killing potential worse, but at the same time it makes me beefy enough to run into dangerous places to secure a flag kill finish and run out (so probably comes pretty close with a more glass-cannon build in terms of badge rate)
The easiest way to get badges is siege though. Cannons are the best for this (good range, fast projectile/fire rate), with arrow carts being second. Arrow carts by themselves don’t do nearly enough damage to kill anyone though, so you need multiples of them to realistically secure kills.
Just cause the range is 10k doesn’t mean that 10k stands for meters. This should be obvious if you play this game AT ALL.
Think about it. Skills like shield bash have 300 range. Is it realistic to shield bash someone 300 meters away? What about jumping/gap closers skills that typically have 600 range. Are you imagining your guy jumping 600 meters? No of course not. The number has nothing to do with real life measurement systems.
I only noticed this trend recently, didn’t even know log-out was instant, always thought there was a delay, but the last couple of days i’ve seen people abuse this, its pretty stupid.
If someone logs out, make their body stay in that location for at least 10seconds or something.
Well, he has a point.
People who go into dungeons for their first time, usually have random pieces of armor (low quality ones too), bad set of trinkets, bad weapons and absolutely no clue about synergy between their skills and traits, not only for their own benefit, but for the entire party.
Its not what he said, its how he said it. Besides i dont see why are items an issue, Anet and many other fun boys keep saying GW2 is about skill not items.
Are we playing the same game? Yes items matter in PvE, the difference between someone wearing blues and greens, and someone in all exotics is pretty substantial. And the skill vs items is about PvP……… Have you played sPvP before? Did you play gw 1 before? Your basically taking an idea/statement out of context and trying to apply it to something else. Go roll a lvl 1 char, and play sPvP. There is no gear imbalance, you have access to everything that everyone else has access to. THATS what they mean about skill over items.
PvE is a whole different story. You don’t get access to all the items for free, so gear imbalance exists.
Ah well, seems like theres a few things down atm so i’m guessing it was just a bug, hopefully a 1 time thing and not something re-occuring.
Had this just happen now in SE route 1.
Basically after getting past the 2nd boss a guy in our party started asking why he was kicked. We were like huh what are you talking about your still in party. About 15 seconds later, the same thing happens to me, and then a few seconds later it happens to a 3rd guy. We weren’t kicked from party (i know because when the first guy complained, we could still see him, then when i complained, they said they could see me – we couldn’t see them tho).
So since they could still see us in party but we couldnt see them, they tried a kick/reinvite. Well basically that screwed the pooch since the guy who joined the instance was the first guy kicked and it booted us all out. First time i ever seen this bug, and it coincides with this patch just now………..
Going full zerkers (power/prec/crit) in dungeons is pretty bad. You will probably do less damage than someone in more balance/tanky gear because they won’t be eating dirt constantly and forcing someone else to stop THEIR dps to res you.
Melee’s already get/keep aggro easier than ranged and are more susceptible to damaging mechanics (ie pbaoes, cc chains, etc). Going glass cannon in dungeon is like begging to get stomped on.
This and TA both need wp’s stupid bad.
I hate to break it to you, but its actually balanced fine.
The thing is, All 3 paths are very easy if your in a group of all 80’s. I’ve pugged all 3 paths with guad/guard/guard/war/war before, and this isn’t exactly the highest dps party you can form, and we easily completed all 3.
The problem is path 1 and 3 is very hard if you bring low level people. 1 low-level is doable, 2 is iffy, and 3 is nearly impossible. If you’re not 80, don’t bother running anything but path 2, because you are basically leaching/praying the rest of your party is 80. The difference between scaled down 80 in exotics and someone in the 35-45 range is ridiculously huge in terms of dps and survival. If they nerfed AC exp (already the easiest set of dungeons atm) to balance for low levels, it would create unintentional speed-clear problems for groups of 80’s.
whoa whoa WHOA.
You do NOT need to find level 30 gear. You can wear whatever your wearing at your level your stats will scale down by themselves. You basically kittened yourself because i’m assuming you’re higher than level 30, but you put on level 30 armor, and then the game scaled you down anyways since its scales based on level, not armor your wearing.
So the first fix is to use your normal equipment.
As for the Lovers fight, its pretty hard for first timers, hopefully you know the strategy (hint, use nothing but rocks)
Most explorable dungeons are PUG-able, i PUG like 95% of the time. Sometimes you have to be a little picky though. From personal experience, you really don’t want to bring more than 2 non-80’s to an explorer-able (more than 1 is bad enough). For example, the difference between a 35 and a scaled down 80 running AC exp is huge. You’re talking about a difference in multiple hours/graveyard runs with wipes, vs 1 shot speed runs. The balancing of dungeons is really a fine line, especially for the lower leveled ones, because if they nerf them, they become way too easy for geared 70s, and if you buff them they basically become impossible for non-80s.
Some dungeons/paths are much longer than others. Find out which are which, so that if you’re on a time constraint, you don’t attempt a long one.
Probably a 3 bar kill shot with zerkers gear against a low level. I bet a thief with a glass cannon build would have dropped 20k+ easily on you. I’ve never gotten a killshot even remotely that high but i don’t run glass cannon so i dunno.
SE definitely needs another 2 or so WP’s, its a pretty long walk if you die.
There’s a limit to the types of mechanics they can add to increase the difficulty, due to the fact that there is no say, dedicated tank/healer, everyone needs to be for the most part responsible for themselves. Throwing down large amounts of PbAoE is an easy mechanic they add to increase difficulty without totally screwing over most of the classes.
Just bring a range weapon for swap always. Not a huge deal, you will learn through trial and error what bosses you can melee in and what bosses you want to stay in ranged for.
In 3 way PvP, someone will always be getting double teamed or hit in their undefended areas while they are focused elsewhere or on another team. It is rarely intentional and something people need to just get used to.
the point is that the 2nd and 3rd place shouldnt be focused on eachother and letting HOD reign over the most territory and basically guaranteeing them the win. its bad tactics in general to allow this to even happen.
Problem is, you can’t realistically beat HoD due to their coverage. (i’m SBI and we have been fighting them forever; we all know as a server that its not possible due to our complete lack of late night coverage) The top bracket will always be 2nd and 3rd place fighting to see who gets 2nd.
Personally i’m fine with SBI dropping down this week, i’m interested in fighting a battle that’s actually winable instead of going to sleep even and waking up with nothing. It sucks fighting for 2nd every week.
If you don’t think running cc removal/stun breakers is mandatory for PvP, you probably never played a pvp game in your life.
The bulls rush > 100b combo is actually super easy to counter in 1on1 situations. Bull rush has a huge CD also, so once its down, hes boned; he shouldn’t be able to land 100b again unless your idea of pvp is standing still.
2 signets is about the maximum a warrior should bring, and in most cases 1 is the right number (rage of course) I get worried whenever i see someone bring in more than 2 signets, it usually means they haven’t partied much/at all.
I ran into a different AC bug today, this time with the Lt boss. We spawned the bonus troll event, and noticed that the Lt and the troll would fight each other, so we let them do alot of damage to each other before killing both. Did not register the Lt kill (so no chest, and no waypoint in the center platform). (top right corner permanently showed Lt was at full health even after he was dead. Was able to complete the dungeon regardless, but that seems like a definite bug.
Can you please explain what we should be getting for Non-DR also?
For example, Yesterday around 7-8pm PST i ran AC routes 1 and 2. Today at 3pm PST i ran AC route 2 again. First time i got 60, second time i got 20. I wasn’t expecting to get 60 against since it wasn’t 24 hours, but i was kind of expecting a little bit more than 20.
In this same example, if i run AC route 2 again after the “daily” reset, will i get 60 again? or by running it again just now for 20 “reset the 24 hour timer”. Its a bit confusing.
