Threw in another batch of GS and tried some hammers as well recently.
Kind of sad, hammers cost more to make (gotta make hafts which use elder wood and are about 5c more than mithril) but their exotic counterparts are worth way, way less than a great sword exotic.
As for the guy who said precursor drop rate improved, unless you have a sample size in the thousands in the past few days, your full of crap.
Skin rate on new chest seems even lower than normal chests, but i guess thats to be expected. Basically transformed a bunch of useless tonics/boosters into something slightly less useless (candy corn and nougats and trick or treat bags). Not much better mind you but at least i’m no longer sitting on a bunch of armor/regen boosters………. i guess………
SBI did, not sure if its uncontested anymore.
Quickly ran there and grabbed 260 shards. Gonna need to head back after another 200k karma though, hopefully it will be open again when im ready.
Weird how this went from all commanders = warriors, to a bunch of people feeding a thief playing troll.
Back on topic: most commanders are guardians or rangers, at least on my server. At least all the good ones are. Commander needs to be a class that is relatively safe/good survival, since people are relying on them to coordinate the zerg. Warrior can do this okay i guess with a tanky build, but its still dangerous to engage in melee range with a huge zerg. Much easier if your either super survival guardian, or something ranged that stands in the back.
I don’t think i’ve seen a ele, thief or engie commander before.
I don’t think they can change how precursor’s drop without pissing off alot of people that already bought them at this point since they’ve taken way too long.
At most they could bump the drop rate of it a smidge from the forge and/or world drops.
To me, the fix would be to implement a system that was used in another game: ff11. They had items that were catagorized as “rare/ex”. Ex basically meant soulbound, and rare meant you couldn’t hold more than 1 of them (ie, couldn’t dual wield 2 of the same rare/ex weapon)
Personally, I think a way to fix the market a bit would be to disallow people from carrying more than 1 precursor of the same type on an account. (shouldn’t be too difficult to implement) This would make it hard/impossible for people to control the market. Any precursor listed by an account on the TP would also count as them holding it (not sure if this is feasable with the current system) It would also let you keep your dumb gambling system that you guys seem so intent on keeping for the precursor.
Everyone should have more kills than deaths…. by a huge margin.
Why? Because multiple people get credit for a kill when an enemy goes down.
You guys somewhat got your wish. They increased the timer on Jormag, its somewhere between 3-4 hours now instead of 2-2.5 hours. Happy?
Btw if you think they were gonna buff the drops, quality/rate, you clearly don’t know how mmo’s work. But at least you complained your way into longer spawns.
I see alot of guardian and ranger commanders, dunno about you.
Bought another 20 bucks worth of gems, opened 15 chests, got 1 skin (i guess i should be happy with this?)
Whats the deal with armor boosters btw. I got a ton of them just now, and that has to be the most useless booster. These ones that give armor, strength or regen or whatever should last way more than 1 hr. 10/10 i’d rather have a booster that will significantly help me like a karma/crafting/exp/kill streak booster, not some minor buff.

Basically if you want 100B to me a mobile skill, then the damage needs to be dropped alot.
And i mean “whirling axe” alot (meaning less damage than auto attacks).
There are currently many ways to apply a root effect as a warrior. Your a GS warrior too, so you have the gap closers to capitalize on a ranged cripple/root easier than say an axe warrior.
And most importantly, this game is not designed around 1v1 encounters. If you want to be a 1v1 specialist, as in my original response, go roll a thief like 80% of the spvp population.
Only buffs were to underwater fighting. Who gives a crap about underwater fighting buffs, unless you run HotW dungeon every day.
Still no bug fixes to double vengeance death, fast hands, tool-tip change on endure pain, rush/bulls charge running past people, etc. All of which have been in the game since release.

1.) 100b will never be a mobile skill. That would be the dumbest change ever. Why not ask for the 100b button to just automatically kill everything around you as well? GS is already the most mobile warrior weapon. Ranged cripple, and 2 dash/gap closers…….. Go play an axe warrior and then come back and complain to me about mobility.
2.) You want access to a 4 second immobilize. Which you can already get access to with a weapon swap. Why not ask for the ability to swap to 3 weapons? how about 4?. Hell i want to be able to use pistols too. If i can shoot a riffle, surely i can shot a pistol as well. And daggers. What the heck, why not daggers, they are way lighter than great swords.
Yea…….
Anyways, if you can’t land 100b, then tough cookies. Its a high risk, high reward skill. What your asking for is an I win button. Go roll a thief and mash “2,2,2,2,2,2,2,” that might be more up your alley?
Is it just me or are Survivability warriors nothing compared to guardians?

Are guardians better tanks? Yep. If you rolled a warrior to be a the best tank, then be glad you already have a guardian leveled. Can warriors tank? Yep. I do so fine. But if i’m in a party with a guardian, he will pretty much automatically get aggro, so he becomes the tank by default and i’m always fine with that.
If your partied with a guardian, go for a bit more dps gear/traits. If not, stick with your tanky build. Not sure what your complaint is really; 2 different classes are naturally gonna be better at 2 different things.
Curious about method ANet would say is efficient for some unique weapons, etc

The price of triforge is actually decreasing daily. The most expensive part of it used to be the Ruby orbs, but they are around 2.5 silver each now. Everything else listed is under 2 silver (ore is like 40copper, dust is 1.2 silver, the other 2 gems are also under 2 silver.) Gems are becoming cheaper every day because there isn’t as much use for them compared to other mats. The dust is fairly easy to get; the t5 dust is really common if you farm orr at all; i’ve promoted 3 stacks just from my own drops, soon to be 4.
Axe damage is good, if the target just stands there at lets you hit them (like in PvE). The Axe auto attack is amazing really, its by far the best of all the axe skills.
In PvP though, you often don’t get to maintain much time on target as a melee, so burst damage is king. Auto attacking with an axe gives good dps, but when i can only land a few hits before the target starts spamming rolls/escape kills, it actually isn’t that good.
Dunno whats worse. That they perpetually forget this bug exists, or that they are too incompetent to fix it.
Remove the door.
What purpose does it serve? The chest can’t be opened without both halves of the key. The door literally does nothing aside from apparently bugging out and locking permanently. Well i guess its also good for being big and circularly……
Around level 60 is when i switched out. I started doing alot more dungeons around then, and signet builds are trash in parties.
If you don’t plan on doing dungeons and are just strait grinding to 80, you can use it all the way up, but i’d switch at somepoint just so that you get used to watching cds/pressing more buttons.
I don't understand why my damage isn't in line with others. Help!?

Just gonna tell you strait up, people exaggerate like crazy on forums. Unless they have SS of combat logs, take it with a grain of salt.
Direct damage on rifle autos are somewhat low, since a portion of the damage is allocated to the bleed effect. IMO your best off just building gear towards strait direct damage, because it will be more versatile with other weapons, whereas a condition build is really only viable with rifle and sword.
I run a fairly tanky build 0/10/30/30/0 shouts heal in WvWvW, with about a 65-35% mix of tanky armor (either power/tough/vit or power/prec/tough) and berserkers for damage. My rifle autos are like ~500ish, sometimes on squishies ~700-800. The most damage i can get is roughly ~7k kill shot crit on a squishy. Damage isn’t amazing by any means, but i’ll always trade better survival in WvW over better damage.
Being asuran does help. Its not about targeting, but its about visual cues and recognizing what attack is about to come up. This is the difference between dodging, say a random auto attack, and dodging…… backbreaker.
I’m a norn warrior myself, so i feel your pain. Every ability on a norn warrior is painfully obvious. That being said, its the price i’m willing to pay to not look like a weird alien/rat midget. I’d definitely roll asura for other classes though where looking like a kitten isn’t as important to me.
Hmmm what kind of build are you running. I usually go fairly tanky build in wvw, and basically guardians can’t really even touch me through my own heals. Usually becomes a stalemate though where neither of us can put any real significant damage on the other. I honestly can’t imagine a guardian just gibbing me though. I don’t run hammer though, i use axe/warhorn and either bow or a riffle. Hammer attacks are fairly slow, and if they get a block on backbreaker or something, your losing a huge portion of your combo/utility, so that might be why you’re struggling. I can basically just keep pressure with axe auto’s which are fast and hard hitting.
If you’re really having trouble, try a sword-bleed build, they have a bit more trouble against that.
Pretty even start so far which is a refreshing change after last week. I managed to get in for a few hours, and it was a blast. I hope it stays relatively close; i hate when matches are already decided in like 1-2 days.
They could just completely remove orbs giving combat-related buffs.
ie.) swap the outmanned and orb buffs around. This makes the most logical sense to me. Otherwise, just have the orbs count as bonus points that acrue each tick, like holding a camp/tower/etc.
What you guys fail to realize.
1.) spamming AOE does not reveal people in stealth.
2.) that particular thief is running a very, very tanky build. he only needs to survive for a few hits between CnD blows to re-stealth. he does not attack anything while stealth to break it.
3.) rendering issues/lag makes stealth even more powerful. There is supposed to be a 3 second window when he can’t restealth. From the THEIF’S perspective, he is stealth/unstealthed at the correct times. From the perspective of the enemy zerg, he’s probably only visable for a fraction of that time due to rendering lag. Combine this with the theif rolling while visable, and he can be VERY DIFFICULT to lock down before he stealths again. THIS IS THE BIGGEST CULPRIT TO WHY THIS WORKS.
The way this game is, stealth is incredibly powerful, and there’s basically no counter play, aside from mashing out damage skills in a random direction, or turtling up and trying to block/dodge the “inevitable” stealth attack. They need to give each class a way to force a de-stealth, greatly fix rendering issues, or increase the time between re-stealths.
Plinx is fine; nerfing him would just lead to people looking for the next most efficient chain.
There will always be a “best” farming spot; and with this game essentially being a huge grind fest, you would kitten off ALOT of players by nerfing a location. Look what happened to Frostgorge after they nerfed trolls. Completely empty unless jormag is about to spawn.
And lets face it, karma grinding is HELLA BORING. When i karma grind, i can’t stand doing it for more than an hour at a time; when im in that 1 hour, i want to be as EFFICIENT as possible. Plinx happens to be the location that is most efficent. I’m all down for buffing other locations if they want though (extremely unlikely)
Its fine as is imo, and this is coming from someone that farms these dragons every day (i can usually get at least 3 spawns of each.) Despite what some people might say, i do feel like MF gear helps, i usually get a rare from jormag at least 50% of the time, and probably 25% of the time from the other 2 dragons. The pre-events for jormag is also a great way to get some more items, i can often get a rare or a lodestone from it, and a decent amount of karma in a short time as well.
Use the online dragon timers, and it will save you alot of waiting. Between spawns, you can farm cursed shore, or do your daily ori nodes or whatnot. I’ll sometimes do a dungeon speed run or 2 inbetween spawns as well. The events are pretty short and are basically loot pinatas. At worst, the drops you get paid for your WP fee to get there.
Gotta agree this is mostly been a failure. Early on i played alot of WvW but the more i played the more the faults became obvious to me. I hate to say it but I’d rather farm PvE at the moment than bother with WvW.
The snowball affect in WvW is ridiculous, and incredibly demoralizing. Free Server transfers should have been locked weeks ago. At this point, you should just completely eliminate like a 3rd of the servers and move those people over onto other servers, so that coverage for most servers would improve (and hopefully create more competitive matches). Make the matches shorter too. The longer the matches, the more snow-ballish they get, and the more discouraged people get at playing the game.
Honestly I don’t know why you guys haven’t at least altered/removed orb bonuses and free server transfers yet, these are 2 major culprits that are ruining WvWvW. In this day and age, you honestly don’t have that much time anymore to snag a loyal player-base. Take a look at what happened to diablo 3. Hell, a bunch of friends i started this game already left for panda-land. The rest will jump ship once the “next” big game hits (ff14 realm reborn is already getting pretty good reviews…….) With how long its taking you guys to fix a simple door in mistwrought vault, i’m getting a little skeptical that you guys will react in time to stop any sort of mass exodus.
You can’t really compare a legendary weapon in this game to a “similar” legendary goal in another game. Why? Cause in this game a legendary is essentially a vanity item; the statistical boost in base damage the legendary gets is trivial. “similar” legendary weapons in other MMO’s often have a very strong effect.
For example, in FF11, the average completed dynamis weapon took 2 years to complete, required the cooperation of an entire dynamis linkshell (60+ people helping to complete a weapon for 1 person) to help farm the coins as well as the necessary precursor drops. Those weapons though were far, far stronger and borderline broken OP compared to the next best possible weapons. In this game though….. the legendary is essentially a fancy skin. You can’t really compare them.
That aside, i’m fine with the high gold/farming costs. I’d even be fine if you made some portions of the legendary require beating super hard dungeons or whatever. What i’m not fine with is how freaking small the random chance to get a precursor is. Every other single portion of the legendary is a slow grind; karma, gold, mats, badges, whatever. The precursor though is a total crap-shoot. You either get lucky, and make it in a few tries or you throw hundreds to thousands of weapons into the grinder and walk away empty handed. I’ve only done around 300 rare weapons atm which is a relatively small sample compared to most, but its really an unenjoyable feeling to gamble like this.
Its just another one of the hidden costs to the legendary.
On the surface you see “oh i need 120g + all these other things”
Then you realize those “other things” like lodestones and precursor, and t6 mats, etc add up to another 400+ gold.
It’s normal like in every other MMO that you need luck for the best Stuff. Be it being dropped or in this case crafted..
Yea some luck is needed…….. but the crafting rate for a precursor is abysmal.
its about 1/8 chance to get an exotic from 4 level 80 rares (about a 80-90s investment), then from there you have about a 1/40~ish chance of getting the precursor, so your looking at around 0.3% chance. This also assumes that each exotic forged has an equal chance of being made, which i doubt so the actual odds are probably even worse.
My guess is its at around .1% or maybe worse in actuality, so your looking at ~1000ish attempts at ~80silver a pop (you will make some of the money back so it isn’t pure loss, but it WILL be a loss in the long run.)
How has this not been fixed yet? Its bordering on 2 weeks now, and 2 patches have rolled by since it originally bugged out.
Remove the door completely maybe? You can’t open the chest without the keys anyways, and the door servers absolutely no purpose…..
This is by far the dumbest part of the legendary process.
I’ve been trucking along trying to complete all facets of the legendary (collecting T6 mats, karma, gold, tokens, badges of honor, lodestones, etc) but the worst part is trying to get the precursor. I refuse to spend 300+ gold on the precursor, so like everyone else, i’m playing the Mystic forge lotto. Every time i dump 50-100+ rare GS into the forge and walk away with…….. 1 rare GS let alone a garbage exotic, i get an urge to quit this game.
So close to just blowing all my gold in 1 attempt so that i can just delete my character after its inevitable failure.
Yup the formula on wiki works, I’ve promoted all the T5 dust i’ve gotten about 3 times now, since the T5 dust is a really common drop while farming Orr. You will get somewhere around 20-40 T6 dust when you convert a 250 pile of T5 dust.
Elite shout prz.
I can go 5 signet, 4 banner but only 3 shout? nothx.
He’s easy because hes in a relatively low level zone. Doubt they want random lvl 40-50’s in there running into a dragon and getting smashed instantly. Jormag is in an 80 zone, and his fight is pretty interesting, and people get downed constantly. Are the basically impossible fights to lose? sure i guess, but so are most events that have a ton of people at them. I bet if only ~5-10 people showed up (like some Orr temple bosses during night hours), it would be possible to lose, but dragons are really popular so there’s always at least a decent sized crowd.
I thought it woulda been fixed by now, its been broken for almost a week strait.
You don’t lose control while using Axe #5……….. you can CANCEL IT at ANY TIME by using ANOTHER AXE SKILL LOL. You can roll with it too, and it tags mobs like crazy if you ever end up karma farming…..
They do not scale up to level 80 rewards. I don’t have the exact numbers but if i often do dynamic events in plains of ashford while waiting for groups (yummmmmmm harpies), and i’d say i get around ~260 karma and ~1s 10-15c for completing a dynamic event there. Its been a long time since i was a natural low level and i haven’t leveled any alts so i don’t know if thats what a normal low level gets but thats definitely not was an 80 would get in Orr.
except…. you can’t hit 3-5k autos with defensive gear.
As annoying as it is not being able to see your allies and enemies, i gotta say, i get alot less fps lag these days. I’m honestly so used to trying to attack invisible things (i have a habit of mashing the “1” key at all times now) that it doesn’t really bother me anymore. Especially true in PvE and farming Orr events; if you can see the mob, and you try to attack it/tag it, you’re already too late haha…….
Thief and Mesmer. Any other answer is troll response really.
Norn look awesome, but whenever i do a jump puzzle as my norn warrior i want to scream. My camera goes insane in places where an asura or human probably wouldn’t even notice.
Yup, hammer has 2 self-roots (#3 and #4), and its the biggest downside to the weapon in PvP. You have to chain into them to use them effectively, which means opening up with a utility skill like bulls/bolas, the hammer burst skill, or your offset’s cc skill (like mace stun or one of the many cripples we have access to)
The self root on #4 is worse than the one on #3 imo, since at least the #3 skill has a decent sized shockwave. Anytime i see someone pop a stun breaker as i hit #4, i cry a bit inside cause i will 100% miss that knockback.
Bleeds are pretty terrible in PvP so don’t go that route if pvp is your goal. Everyone brings condition removal and lots of it.
Heck, i bring condition removal in 5 places: horn 4, horn 5 (with the trait to convert a condition into boon), mending (remove 2), shake it off (remove 2) and fear me (remove 1) – 6/6 soldier runes for shouts removing conditions. Its a bit overkill sure, but it makes sure i’m always able to stay mobile and condition free.
For PvE basically anything is viable. I generally run dual axes for that though since axe 5 adren gain is soooooooooooo good. Also tags alot of mobs for you during dynamic events.
Gap closer + snare in 1 skill? Are you a GS warrior looking for a backup bulls charge or something :o
You have to bring ranged in WvW, unless you want to be standing around doing nothing half the time. You CAN melee plenty though, but it really takes skill. Go axe/warhorn + ranged weapon. Warhorn is great for melee, lets you remove snares and most importantly, gives you VIGOR. Getting extra endurance allows you to get in on a weakened target, finish it off, and escape.
Typically ill be in ranged at the start of engage, look for a weakened target > bow #5 for a snare attempt > swap weapons > horn 4 > bulls rush > horn 5 > eviscerate > chase down and finish > roll /fear my way out > wash and repeat. Gun works here instead of bow also.
As for itemizing/traits, i’d aim for something like 65-70% defensive stats and the rest offense. Survival is more important imo in WvW than pure damage.
SBI is actually never full during oceanic/EU times. I doubt any server aside from HoD, NSP and SoS is actually full during those periods.
Yup its slow. You should be using Karma boosters tbh, if your farming for a legendary.
I usually farm ~12k karma in 1 hour in Orr, so to get the 1 mil i need it will take around 84 hours of farming. I’m only about 30% of the way through that now. I take a break whenever i hit DR since its not really worth continuing at that time. Takes about 40-45 mins to hit DR.
This is definitely new since the last patch. I’m seeing teammates as floating names now and enemies go invisible randomly. And not even in huge clustered fights i’ve seen it happen in small skermishes. Sometimes i just see floating names, and if its a commander, sometimes just the floating blue icon. its pretty silly atm, and everyones commenting it in map and/or team chat so its definitely wide spread
