If i’m pugging something hard, I’ll run with a shout heal build w/soldier runes. Shouts heal is the safest way to pug since you don’t know if your gonna be the only melee/heavy class, and you might need to be completely self-reliant.
If i’m pugging something easy and/or running with guild its glass cannon time!
This ones pretty easy if you have any sort of WoW experience really. Kite in circle, with everyone ranged. Use an immobilize skill on the dark spot to set up lava. Do a backwards roll when it throws the 2nd set of bombs out. If you mess up and it starts healing, interupt it (fear works well here, and so does knockback)
Its only hard if the guy pouring lava does it too early/late, and you are forced to interupt the healing multiple times in a row. It does get harder when he does agony too i guess. Most of his other moves are completely dodgable though.
I agree that it was changed. The people that say it didn’t for the most part are using BL kits.
The people like myself that are complaining were people that used basic and/or master kits. The chance using those kits changed drastically when the SoS patch came out.
I feel like they left BL kits alone but lowered the rate on other kits by alot (probably either it was a bug previously because the type of kit used to NOT MATTER AT ALL, or else it was changed to get people to buy more BL kits). Either way, i started selling all my rares instead (and this is coming from someone who salvaged over 250 ectos using rares i farmed myself)
Boring bosses is not what makes people avoid a dungeon. You see a lot of people running HotW after all. :P
CoF path 3 final boss is kittenedly boring. It goes invulnerable for about 1/3rd of the fight every time he runs back to the center of the platform to do his channel + jump knockback move. Makes the fight stupidly slow, and no one gets hit by the ability anyways since its telegraphed SO MUCH especially since he’s invulnerable before he does it. Bad mechanic that happens to also prolong the fight needlessly.
The rest of that path is also horrible really.
When i think of poison by warrior, i was thinking Superior rune of the afflicted. I use this on my for-fun condition build, and imagine my warrior flipping the bird at the enemy while going down.
Well you don’t go invulnerable, you just take 0 damage from physical hits (conditions keep working). And yes the trait works.
Depends on purpose. LB is for AoE, Rifle is for single target. You should bring both realistically.
If i have to choose only 1, LB is probably a bit more useful if your doing dungeons, and situationally useful in WvW (better at defense/offense on towers, but way worse in open field vs rifle) and neither is good for sPvP
I feel like the axe has a slightly wider angle, but they are probably the same. I’m more used to an axe in general as well which might account for this feeling.
This has nothing to do with warriors really.
Thief is weaker in PvE than most (all classes really) due to the same mechanic that makes them so strong in PvP which is initiative. Thieves basically have no cooldowns, which gives them the BEST front loaded burst possible (insanely good for PvP). That being said, once their low on initiative, they lose alot of damage. This matters alot more in PvE where you have longer drawn out fights, and are fighting things that wont die in ~3-5 seconds.
What weapon you use is gonna matter alot too. d/d isn’t a good PvE dungeon weapon set; you probably want to be using like sb, or p/p and play from range.
My guess is they made ecto’s more influenced by the salvage kit type. Before they basically weren’t effected by kits, or the difference in kits was tiny.
I never salvaged rares with BLkits. Before the SoS patch events, i always used either a master kit (rare armors) or a basic kit (rare weapons) (and both had similar results of ~1 ecto on average). After the patch and new dungeon, i noticed a really really bad streak using basic kits. Then i switched to master kits again and it was still bad, about 1 every 2 salvages.
Its either super easy or super hard depending entirely on if your party members know how to do it.
You will definitely want to switch your skills around before running the wisps. (for example, if i’m supporting and not running, i’ll make sure to put on a warhorn with quick breathing trait, and wear my shouts remove conditions armor. if i’m running a wisp i make sure to put balanced stance on my bar, as well as even rampage – the most useless warrior skill finally has a use!) The easiest way to beat this though is of course……… mesmer. They tend to make anything puzzle/trap related completely trivial.
Decent gold gain from CoE. Get the typical silver for beating it, + one of the bosses in route 2/3 drops 10 silver. Each run should net you ~50 silver minimum after selling garbage drops, with a chance to get a core/lodestone.
The downside is CoE is a longer/slower dungeon to complete compared to other speed run dungeons. Also, anet bugged route 1 which was the fastest route before. When lodestones were going for 2g50silver, i farmed CoE like mad since it was definitely more profitable. With the slight drop in lodestone prices though, i’m not sure anymore.
I got 3 ectos total from about 25 salvages right now, which is by far the worst streak i have ever experienced. Was averaging 1 per salvage before the lost shore event started up.
Not gonna say that they definitely changed the salvage rate, but all I know is i’m selling my rares now instead of salvaging; rather get ~75% of its worth than constantly getting zeros.
I just purchased a bunch of these on SBI, He is still there at balthazar temple and still sells them. Not sure where you read/why you believe that he was removed.
Well if you think about it the infusion part is just +5 agony resistance. Which is only useful if your doing FOTM. Anywhere else and its a useless stat. So basically that infusion is only for the hardcore people that are trying to get as deep into that dungeon as possible.
Realistically, as long as BASE ascended gear is obtainable without insane requirements, i’m ok with the crazy high INFUSION costs. Why? Because its a stat thats only needed in a specific dungeon. All i REALLY need is the base ascended gear, and the 50 ecto/ 250 T6 cost, while high, isn’t insane imo.
From personal experience, if there’s a guardian in the group, he be the defacto aggro magnet. If not, it will be myself or any other warrior in the group.
There’s a number of factors that go into aggro. Some of them include: distance to target (melee = more aggro), damage, “block” skills and shields (1 reason i think guardians always pull the most aggro), CC skills, and toughness stat on party members.
Banners are weaker than shouts support imo mainly due to range and the fact that alot of fights you want to spread out and be mobile. Shout is a little better at this since you don’t have to move the banner around, nor have people sit in 1 relatively small area to get the benefit. Its still a decent spec to go into though, so if you like banners go ahead and roll a banner spec.
Yea its a strait buff. There’s literally no downside. If you used it at full adren, continue to use it at full adren for max heal.
Imo it doesnt change much though. Most adren skills are garbage. With the 10 point traits that give +x% damage and +x% crit chance based on adren, its usually better to stay at full adren anyways and not use burst skills at all. (for PvE that is)
Could mix a bit of both in, which is what i do.
If i had to choose only 1 set though, soldiers would be my choice, its slightly more verstile imo. I can go full defense traits and be super tanky, or go glass cannon traits and have solid dps with good survival. (alternatively, its really unlikely you will ever want to go with glass cannon gear + tanky traits)
Are you using standard to get someone from downed state up? or from actual death?
Cause it only gets people up from downed state. I haven’t noticed any problems with it, but i only use this elite for very specific purposes.
This trait works. It doesn’t show up in your stats, but its reflected in actual numbers.
Its also really obvious when your with a guardian and he hits you with like every boon in the game
This ones easy as long as the guy who is pouring the lava isn’t kitten
Btw anytime it does heal, you can stop it from healing by interupting it (i generally use Fear Me! on my warrior to stop it if it occurs). Just have everyone in your group somewhat clustered around the dark spots for the lava (falling lava doesn’t hurt you btw) to position it easier. Also, when the boss shoots out the mines in 2 waves, they actually explode at the same time. Don’t roll too early….
I can confirm this bug still exists and hasn’t been fixed yet. Someone in my group thought it was fixed and convinced us to go :/ huge waste of time
I had a feeling they lowered the salvage rate on these as well since this weekend. Its gotten to the point where instead of salvaging my rares, i just sell them.
I used to salvage all my rares and had a decent stockpile (~220 ectos) accrued, but now i think im just gonna sell my rares and buy them to be safe.
I’d say you have about a ~2 day window to buy precursors before they begin to rise again. I actually think the next 12-24 hours will be the lowest point, as the people who listed it early and got undercut will panic, and relist and undercut even more (at which point, the price will stabilize again due to the supply still being somewhat limited).
Thats my personal opinion though. If your looking to purchase a precursor for USE, i’d say go for it now. If its for re-sale purposes…. well i’d be very careful about that
If your a shouts heal warrior, your getting +30% boon duration already from traits. Never hurts to have more though.
Are you sure rune of the water triggers on a shouts heal? My instinct says no, because the description says “when you use a ‘healing skill’” not “when you use a skill that heals”. To me that’s an important distinction since “healing skills” are essentially a category of skills, like utility skills, elite skills, etc.
I roll with soldiers runes for shout healing build personally, and have no complaints.
Thanks for spreading the word, this time with detailed information. Getting sick of these warrior bugs being swept under the rug.
Now i want to know if endure pain is supposed to actually be 5 seconds, or if the tool tip is just incorrect. That should be easy for anet to tell us………. you’d think…….
19k-25k hundred blades is okay… yet they nerfed pistol whip… I’m genuinely confused. Both root the character, both are channelled attacks, yet the guy with the heavy armour and high health gets to keep that ridiculous damage.
Confused.
Lets not mention that the thief is immune to damage during the cast animation, and that pistol whip also stuns the target for 1 second.
Because partial information in a vacuum is useful.
The free argument is stupid. Maybe its “free” to you, but its not “free” to everyone.
Same dumb argument is used for League of Legends (which doesn’t even have an initial monetary investment like GW2) How does that game survive? Through micro-transactions. Its the same system that Anet is using here in GW2. Part of the user-base is actively spending money to buy gems.
For example, I am a working adult; I have enough disposable income to spend on vanity items like gems in this game, or skins in LoL. But its these one time events are ostracizing the very people that are more likely to be actively making micro-transaction purchases. Why adopt a business model that relies on a small percentage of the user-base “paying” for the everyone else, then royaly kitten those same customers you are relying on. It makes zero sense.
I’d like to believe this will be the end of SIGNIFICANT one-time events though; The backlash from this event was too big to ignore. Stick you one-time cutscene like event only.
You can absolutely do it with different characters. I know someone in my guild who was able to loot it 5 times (he ran 8 alts to the chest spawn location, but it despawned between his 5th and 6th loot attempt).
Doesn’t really bother me if someone gets a precursor from chest and I don’t. Hell someone in my guild got both dawn AND dusk from his chest.
What bothers me is if someone gets to loot a chest that has a chance for a precursor, and I can’t also loot that chest. That’s why 1 time events are bad; it should have been an event that was open for 24 hours. Immediately after the event all the overflows were finished, but randomly about 3-4 hrs later, some overflows started having the event, which was nice since i got to re-do the event and got my chest, but it was still really gimmicky/luck based since i had to spam log-in for like an hr.
There are definitely overflows with this running still. I just completed it about 10 minutes ago, and some guildies are in another overflow that has it on the first reinforcement stage. Keep trying, takes awhile but you can randomly stumble into one.
Anyone have room? IGN: unsanitary napkin
Invite please,
Unsanitary napkin
The simplest solution is to reactive the event. They don’t need to figure out who did or did not get dced. You can’t loot the chest more than once, so people that already successfully completed it won’t flood the overflow servers either.
Yes, that is why people are pissed.
Yup this is gonna make people quit, myself included. Gonna take a break for a week and see if they address this in some sort of competent way, if not I’m done with this game. Rather buy more LoL skins than more Gems if kitten like this is gonna happen.
Um this event was so kitten that i think im gonna quit this game.
Crash or dc in middle, can’t rejoin, then every overflow that has it still active is full, and only open ones are the ones that are finished.
so ridiculously poorly implemented i’m in shock.
I find it funny that the tooltip for endure pain is STILL wrong.
Viable, not optimal.
Sword = condition damage, axe = pure physical damage. Can’t itemize both effectively.
If your going a sword + something route, you will probably want to pair it up with longbow so that you can itemize into condition damage (bleeds for sword, and fire for lb) Since this would really limit you to a certain gear set, i don’t really recommend it. For example someone who wants to use GS or Axe or hammer, can basically use the same gear.
Ele hammer = best hammer skin in game.
That alone is OP!
Easy way to implement a scavenger hunt.
Quest chain that makes you do whatever, kill stuff here, do stuff there, fight dungeon yada yada. End result of questline = 1 item (lets call it “essence of a legendary weapon”).
That 1 item used in a MF forge recipe. Rest of the recipe is something like. 250 T6 A-weapon component (ie: ori gs blades) + 250 T6 B-weapon component + 250 Glob of ectoplasm. This would guarantee the cost of the precusor still having a substantial base gold cost associated with it, as well as stablize the marketplace (create demand) for basic T6 materials (ori bar prices for example have fallen from 7s80c a few weeks ago to barely 6s now) The price would be somewhat reasonable too (~150gold for this stuff)
Price changes you see now is due to price speculation. There has obviously not been enough time since patch for a significant increase in the precursor pool to have effected prices based on actual supply and demand. Same reason why gas prices rise and drop, despite the actual supply of oil reserves remaining the same. Hell, it happened not too long ago with the halloween event and the weapon skins (weapon skin prices dropped SHARPLY for about 1 day when they announced the introduction of the mad king chest, but then rose again immediately after they added it when people realized the skins was still incredibly rare from those chests as well).
The influx of more rares due to the dungeons is an actual effect that could bring the rare weapon market down to something more accessible, but i don’t see it getting back down to 12-13 silver levels again.
The worst part is they don’t stack. 25 sized stack is dumb, and the increased chance for stuff like gems is trivial/unnoticable. I just burned through all of mine asap once i got them to save space. Its not worth saving them to say…. specifically use on a ori node or something.
Guys….
Look at rare weapon prices currently.
Think back on what rare prices were, say…. 3 weeks ago.
They are almost double what they were then. You are literally gambling away twice as much gold as you used to, in order to attempt to get a precursor now. Unless the chance to roll a precursor more than doubled in the patch, prices are going to be the same, if not worse in the future.
Cheap exotic prices haven’t risen that much and might be the de-facto choice now, but that’s still alot of money to gamble for most people.
Whats funny is rares have increased in price considerably; they are almost twice as much as they used to be. (i used to buy rare hammers in bulk for ~12s50c) At current market prices, they would have to DOUBLE the precursor drop rate from MF just to BREAK EVEN with how it was a few weeks ago. This alone will keep people from trying to gamble again.
I doubt they increased it that much; my guess is prices will dip in the short term from the “fear” that the precursors will be easy to get from gambling, but then rise again once people realize its still stupidly hard.
Careful guys, if you whine about eviscerate being worse than axe auto attacks, they might just nerf axe auto attacks.
Haven’t notice a change myself either, so no idea.
im a little confused, how can you really apply confusion with a sword+sword/axe+shield build besides shields #4 and bullscharge? that doesnt seem like it would do all that much confusion wise :/
and i want to thank everyone else out for their input as well. it would seem if youre not gonna go GS/frenzy or rifling glass canon you basically have to go CC. ive recently started trying mace+mace simply for the control aspect of it with some healing shouts. im still working on it but so far it aint bad, the ranged knockdown makes closing in quite easy so far lol
He said mace + shield, so you have 3 interrupts in that weapon set (adren dump, mace 3, shield 4) Sounds interesting tbh. I’ve been trying out a sword/sword + sword/shield full on condition build today. Its really gimmicky though, and extremely hit or miss (either they have enough condition removal to completely negate almost all my damage, or they die a slow death).
Honestly, warrior needs 3 weapon swaps for sPvP since shield is ALWAYS required.
