Really? There definitely should be, Agent Ihan is waiting for you in the instance. Maybe run back and/or leave the zone and go back to the entrance? Sometimes these things don’t work the first time you come close.
Have you talked to the Lionguard at Overlake Haven first?
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Well, you need to enter the story instance. Agent Ihan will be there once you do that.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
That looks like an old installation. I’m assuming it looks similar (just with a bigger GW2.dat file) on E:\, so the installation there should be fine.
You can always test this by adjusting your trash can to ~15Gb (just for a few minutes, don’t worry), delete the folder on C:\ and then run the game from E:\. If everything works fine, you can delete the old installation permanently, change back to your original trash can size and play happily ever after.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
(edited by Red Queen.7915)
Which files remained on C:\, specifically? Local.dat can bloat obscenely, maybe that’s what happened? You moved/reinstalled the game to E:\, and forgot to delete/move the local.dat file. Either way, that file should not be bigger that ~35MB, though there are bugs that cause it to grow into infinity.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Hm. Does it work when you put it in another port?
And what brand is it? I’ve read about folks having trouble with Logitech hardware. This bug is pretty persistent and seems to happen without much of a pattern, but the Logitech part pops up more than once.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
^This.
It depends on why your game is lagging; is it a network issue, an FPS issue, does your ISP suck…?
Give it a try, and see if it runs smoothly or not, and if not, where exactly the problem lies.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
That’s because immobilised is a condition, not a control effect. Stun break negates effects such as stunned, dazed, knockback etc., but not conditions.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Chill, it’s only been an hour.
What kind of keyboard are you using, and how is it plugged in (hub or normal USB port)?
Some people could solve this problem by switching to or from windowed mode (depending on the mode it happens in).
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Most likely not. I can’t find the quote, but at one point, ArenaNet said they don’t want to focus on race-only gameplay mechanics […]
It would be less “focussing” and more gimmick-y. It is very much possible to balance the racial heroes so they can exist as something fun to have without breaking the class.
I’d like to see a Jora hero for norn revenants, or Prince Rurik for humans. I think it would be really cool to see all these heros appear on a battlefield, signalling the enemy that hey idiot, you’re being attacked by all of Tyria, would you like to reconsider your life choices?^^
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
“DPS only” would be true if that were the only way to play the content. As it is, lots of people have this idea that, in order to maximise their “profit” or whatever they play this game for (not fun, it seems), they absolutely need to play full berserker, and everyone else must, too.
That is not true. You can play the content with any build you like (the better planned it is, the faster and easier it is, but I’d say it’s never impossible, no matter how noob-ish your build is). The game really is “play how you want”, because aside from agony resistance in Fractals, there’s no area of the game where you truly need anything to complete it. You could run Arah in white gear if you’d like.
If you join a zerker group advertised as such, tell them you play a support ele, and then get kicked, well, that’s kinda your own fault? It’s kittenty if zerker only groups don’t write that in the description, though, and if that’s the case, it’s kitten behaviour to kick people who join and don’t magically know that they aren’t wanted because they’re not full zerker [insert class here]. The solution is clear advertising in LFG, so everyone knows where to join. I keep saying this: Advertise your own groups the way you want to play, and there will be plenty of people looking for the same experience.
That said, I really hope HoT gives us modes and events where full zerker is not just less than ideal, but will earn you a swift kick to the backside. Condi-heavy bosses, maybe, that make water eles more useful, or events where you need to kite, making GS warriors pretty much useless. If players have to adapt and move away from full zerker always and everywhere, maybe they stop insisting everyone has to play like that or gtfo.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
It’s a known problem, they’re looking into it.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
The only thing this game seriously needs in the way of chat is custom channels. Why an MMO in this day and age doesn’t have that already is beyond me.
You do know you can customise your channels, right?
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
They are relatively rare because they drop most when characters are low-level. After that, the chances of getting leveled armour (and thus other scraps) gets higher, leaving only the tiny bags as a relatively reliable source.
If you really want to try and farm them, there’s a Svanir camp in the southern Wayfarer Foothills with lots of mobs to get bags from, and there are some separatist camps in Plains of Ashford where you also get low-level bags. Or you can complete the various starting zones. If you get scraps there, you get forty of them at once, though you might also get logs or ore, or maybe even vegetables.
Beyond that, buying them is your best bet.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I don’t know if http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Teleport_to_Friend works in WvW. I ended up getting one of these, maybe I’ll try it out.
“Directly teleports the player to a friend anywhere in the PvE environment. "
So, probably not?
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I doubt you’ll get it changed. You haven’t used your real name or email address (I assume, since there’s no “gmail” or anything in there), so you’re stuck with it.
Seriously, is the name that bad? If you are getting harrassed because people think you’re a woman and get rude, that’s not your name’s fault, it’s the twits at the other end of the line. I don’t think that’s reason enough to change your display name; if anything, you’ll have to report them and live with your fabulous name
Edit: Yeah, also, what JustTrogdor said. I’d avoid telling customer support that you used to share the account. They’d have to ban you for going against ToS if you went to them with that particular argument.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
So, I’m reading your comment like this: when I join EoTM to run the train, a lot of times the train is far away, and I don’t want to have to run over to them, because sometimes they die by the time I get there, or I run into a zerg, or I simply don’t feel like it, and I should be able to just teleport to them whenever I want.
Please don’t confuse EoTM with WvW. And even then, eventually the zerg goes back to home WP to recap their color. Just hang out until they do.
You’re implying EotM is all trains, all the time, never actual WvW. That’s not true. I’ve had my fair share of “real” WvW in EotM, and the mechanic would be just as broken there as it would be on the regular WvW maps. By implementing this mechanic in EotM, that map really is reduced to nothing more than a train map, which defeats the purpose of nerfing the PvE champ trains entirely.
Just because players don’t want to run across the map (which is intended) doesn’t mean this lazy mechanic is somehow necessary. By this logic, it should be possible for everyone to insta-port everywhere at will all the time, because there will always be someone who doesn’t want to walk. Like Tequatl, or Wurm, or in the HoT maps where, oh dear god, the ways will be even longer if you manage to fall to your death.
tl;dr: Please no.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Yes, you just install the game on your SSD. It’s currently at about 20GB, so not small, but not huge, either (looking at you, Titanfall).
As for brands, my brother has three Samsung SSDs, I have a Kingston one, we are both happy with them. Make of that what you will; my personal impression is that Kingston generally is a kitteneaper, whereas the Samsung ones get better reviews (though not by much).
Edit: I think you don’t have to redownload the client, just copy the folder to wherever you want it, but I’m not 100% certain. Might also have been SWTOR.

Did you ever “Deposit all materials”? They’d be sent to your bank along with everything else. Check there, they should be stored safely.

+1 to more pants for light and medium armour, but pleasepleaseplease without random patches of skin exposed for the female versions.
Every time I see the Priory light armour, I want to take the designer by the collar and shake them so, so hard. Male and female versions are literally identical, but the female top is missing pieces of fabric and it just makes no sense you are in the mountains why would you do that?!
…all right… breathe… it’s fine, plenty of options that do make sense…
That one still makes me mad every time I see it XD
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Might be a nice option for the shortest asura, but then again, often it’s the position of the weapon that makes it clip, so a slider wouldn’t solve that problem, either.
The demand for this is probably not high enough to justify implementing it.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Pathetic! Yet daily I see names referencing drugs, slaughter, satanism, and other subjectively more offensive character names run about with abandon.
Sorry for the loss of your character name, OP.
That.. doesn’t mean those are just fine?
They just didn’t get reported yet, or the support person who happened to look at the report didn’t find them as bad.
“Subjectively offensive” is all fine and dandy, but this game is for kids 12 and older, so that’s what they use to judge whether or not a name is okay. And even I’d at least facepalm at a character named “Jesus Sucks” or something, because really? Very mature.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Yep, my elementalist has some tiny legs in this outfit, too. I mainly bought it for my asura, but it’s annoying that I can’t put it on my norn if I don’t want it to look ridiculous.
I’d love for this to be changed so the legs look as they usually do, and not like toothpicks.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
With what little information you supplied I can only guess: Does your CPU overheat? Or is there something wrong with your power supply? Are all your drivers up to date?
And most importantly, yes, posting your specs would be most helpful.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze

It’s not just you. No idea what’s causing it, though.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Those are amazing
Try not to get eaten by a dragon, okay?
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
The ones whose animations annoy you least^^
Seriously, though, if you plan on buying those things with gold, just be aware that you can buy A LOT of orichalcum tools for that amount of currency. They really are just for convenience, and with the merchant in Heart of the Mists that you can access from anywhere and then return to the spot where you left they are not even that superior anymore.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
At this point, it’s almost certain that no skins will be retroactively added to the wardrobe. Your only chance to get them back is indeed to buy the items again. Sucks, but now at least you’ll only ever need to buy them this once.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Then you can’t use your armour set anyway because you chose medium armour while your warrior requires heavy.
Unless you got all three sets, then that point is moot.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
WvW is really all that is influenced by your server choice anymore.
But if you really want to be on the same server, your friends need to log in at a time when few people are active on your server, like three in the morning, and then seen if your homeworld can be selected. Worked for me, I picked my server at five am^^
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Going through the trouble of creating a precursor collection/mastery/scavenger hunt and then making it rely on RNGsus yet again would be ridiculous. Might as well keep hoping for a lucky drop. I don’t think there’s going to be RNG involved. Like lordkrall said, that would defeat the purpose of the collection.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Personally, I love it that at least my asura ladies can strut around in a dapper suit with the Noble Count outfit; I may or may not have squealed when I realised that. If I want to put one of them in a dress, I have other options. I’d also like to have the male Noble Count outfit for my female sylvari thief, but alas, she’s stuck with the dress.
Dresses only sucks just as much as no dresses at all. I say keep the balance
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Yep. It happens without any discernible pattern, so I doubt anyone even knows for sure what causes the bug, let alone how to fix it.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Are you sure the stuff didn’t just get teleported into your inventory?
Wiki says: "Any additional bonus chests beyond the fourth one will be automatically accepted into your inventory when you exit the game or enter World vs World. "
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
It sucks that you managed to stumble on elitist morons so often. It’s usually not that bad.
Someone already gave the “join a guild” advice. If that is not for you, you could try and weed out the idiots by opening your own group in lfg and note that it’s “no zerker, no speedrun, everyone welcome”, or something like that. I never once had a bad experience with these groups. Granted, once we wiped so often in Twilight Arbor we were all naked in the end, but we just laughed it off because nobody expected the run to go without a hiccup. It was ome of the more unproductive, but fun hours of my life.
The people who know beforehand not to expect a pro and join your group anyway tend to be relaxed folk willing to help newbies, explaining special tactics or just accompanying someone with little experience. I don’t pug often these days, but when I do, it’s with this kind of group. It might be a good way for you to find people to play with who aren’t supreme male sexual organs.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
When you’re Batman.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
By default, moving works with keyboard, pressing both mouse buttons and hitting R for auto-run. The “auto-walk to NPC” option you’re thinking of was in GW1.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Well, if you don’t provide us with info, we can’t provide you with answers.
Have a good day playing something other than GW2.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Your graphics card is not the most important factor, the CPU is.
Best post your laptop model and specs, then someone might be able to tell you what the issue is.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Top right, “Not real”.
Okay then
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
The different zones are the variety. If you’re sick of snow in the Shiverpeaks, why don’t you go play in Ascalon for a while? If you don’t want to walk through a jungle, head to Kryta. Asking to make the Maguuma Jungle not “all jungle” is like asking for cononut trees on a glacier… ô.O
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
The landmasses are all already on the map. The Maguuma Wastes were always there, too. Most plausible reason is that each landmass will be added/opened when we (the player characters) take the fight to the next dragon. Mordremoth in the Maguuma Jungle, then possibly Primordus at the Ring of Fire, Kralkatorrik in Elona (or mabye all the way from the Blood Legion Homelands to the Crystal desert?), Jormag in the Far Shiverpeaks and/or Deldrimor Front and Bubbles in Cantha.
Would make sense to me, anyway.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I like that precursors are tradeable…legendaries should not be tradeable.
That’d definitely be a fair compromise, as long as RNG is involved (which HoT will remedy, thank any higher power there is). I mean, you can still just cash->gold and buy most of the ingredients (barring karma stuff and the Gifts of Battle, Exploration and [insert dungeon gift here]) to craft it, but at least a little bit of work would still be involved.
Then again, it would not solve the 100% map completion thing that started this thread in the first place…
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I’m still baffled by the number of people who think that the mere fact that maybe some people dropped 400+$ on a legendary (seriously, how many are there that do this?) somehow diminishes their own accomplishments. If you keep comparing yourself to other people like that, you probably won’t enjoy many things simply for what they are.
I like that legendaries and precursors are tradeable, and I suppose many others do, too, far more than people who wish they were accountbound (I’m guessing y’all already had a lucky drop or two?). I haven’t had a single precursor drop yet, and chances are that once I get one, it’s for a weapon I don’t want. So I bought Leaf of Kudzu because it was the only way for me to get it, short of hoping that another 2k hours of playing would get me not only a precursor, but exactly the one I wanted.
If you remove the luck factor from the equation (as will happen with the legendary mastery), maybe, but as long as I need insane luck to even get started on a legendary, they should stay tradeable. And if some people actually decide to buy one with cash, well, that’s not my problem and doesn’t take away from the glee I still feel six months after crafting Kudzu when I log on with my flower-bow wielding ranger. So if you could buy a college degree flat out without actually having to take and pass all the classes and work would it still be valid as a symbol of work? Note..the two key words here….degree….and symbol. Would you’re degree be cheapened as a symbol of what you’ve been through knowing that others look at it and don’t relate it to accomplishment (while trying to get a job it would be irrelevant)
Okay, I’ll bite… How is that even the same thing? oO
My degree prooves that I worked for it. I need that proof. My legendary doesn’t need to prove anything. It only has the worth I assign to it. My degree has a fixed worth outside my own pride and sense of accomplishment. And I’m still proud of it, even though I know there are others who got better grades and a “better” degree because the professors liked them more than they liked me (and yes, that did play a part in how you were graded). I worked for it, and I learned valuable stuff along the way (not as much as I hoped I would, but that’s another matter entirely). If someone else got their degree easier because they were the professor’s pet, what does that have to do with me and the work I put in to get this piece of paper? Why would I care if some idiot looks at this other guy and assumes neither of us worked hard for it, unless that would influence his decision to give one of us a job (which it doesn’t because anyone deciding this doesn’t know how we got our degrees)?
The degree is not a “symbol”, it is something that has to prove my talent and ability to work in a certain field. Which is why you can’t flat-out shop for it on the internet. That legendary is not something people look at and then decide whether or not to give me a job. How is one related to the other? And again, why does it matter to you that someone, maybe, bought their legendary with cash? Do other people’s opinions really matter that much to you?
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze

Then I apologise for reading too much into your post.
As for your worries about WvW, that’s not as bad as it sounds. I don’t play a ton of WvW either, so I basically went into each borderland and explored our corner of it (ten minutes each, maybe?), then waited a week for the next rotation, explored the next corner of the borderlands and Eternal Battlegrounds, and then next week I did the same thing. 100% WvW map completion with very little WvW at all. The few tokens you need for the Gift of Battle are a breeze if you zerg for about half an hour or go to Egde of the Mists, where there really isn’t much PvP going on, but more three farm trains chasing each other’s tails.
If you take it in little chunks, whenever you are in the mood for a few minutes, maybe it doesn’t become work at all. The WvW portion of a legendary really is the tiniest part of it.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
So u guys and Anet considers PvE as Map completition with each char. Sry but this is for me and most players just a pain. And needs to be changed.
You don’t NEED a legendary, therefore the conditions to get one don’t NEED to change.
If you WANT a legendary, then WORK for it.
i have a job for that thank you very much, a game is there to enjoy and relax when i have some time off.
if you so much want to WORK, go and get a job but don’t be so “you can’t have this because bla bla bla” when you KNOW there are plenty of ppl who do NOT have the time to work for something like that.
To sum this up, you want everything in the game available if you want it, but you don’t want to have to invest time to get it? Why do you even play an MMO? Do you demand to get a short summary of a film so you don’t have to watch it? Read only the first and last chapter of a book because you don’t have time to read the rest? I’m pretty sure you don’t, because you enjoy doing these things, so why is GW2 not enjoyable for you if you can’t get all the shinies?
It sucks if you have to work kittenty hours, but it does not mean the legendary recipes should be changed to make the weapons super-easy to get. That’s what other skins are for. A legendary is called that because it’s (supposed to be, anyway) rare. You don’t need it to enjoy the game and relax while playing it. You sound like a spoiled child who saw a fancy toy and wants it right now, or else you’ll throw a tantrum. Guess what? Lots of us have jobs and legendaries, and we haven’t bought them off the TP with cash->gold. It took me months to gather all the mats, and that’s with farming, but I got it. And I was proud, even if everyone and their dog had a legendary at this point. Why? Because I’m not a mad gold farmer, not a powergamer, but I still got my shiny bow. It just took a while.
If I had just been able to farm some gold for a week or two and buy it, I wouldn’t have been so proud. It wouldn’t have been an accomplishment. Two nights ago, I decided on a whim to toss some mats I had collected and not sold in a while into the MF and get the Anomaly. That’s also nice, but nowhere near as good a feeling as getting Kudzu was.
If legendaries weren’t such a pain to get (for most folks who don’t get precursor drops left and right), they wouldn’t be as nice to have.
If you work so much that your gaming time is rather short, then that’s a sad fact of life. it does not entitle you to just getting anything you want because “it’s not fun to work for it”. It can be fun. Doesn’t have to be, though, and if it’s not fun for you, don’t do it, but don’t complain that you don’t get the reward for an effort you didn’t want to put into this game. Any game, really. Any_thing_.

(edited by Red Queen.7915)
Well, you could have previewed the skins together to avoid this issue.
It’s well known that some skins clip horribly with each other. It’s just that skins don’t adjust, they are just the way they are, and if you happen to wear wide sleeves with tight gloves, they will clip, not magically fold around each other.
With the amount of skins and possible combinations in the game, it’s near impossible to make it so that skins don’t conflict at all without dedicating lots of resources to it. And for a game like GW2, without subscription fees to warrant this kind of effort, even less likely. Still, you have lots of different options that don’t clip.
As for the sleeve, just pretend it’s a bracelet
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I think the restrictions lift after a month (might also be 30 days, I’m not entirely certain, I never ran into any of those restrictions myself).
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Okay, so you’d rather have guild halls available for cash than through playing? As in, doing what you bought the game for? oO
I understand that smaller guilds might take some time to get the influence or merits or whatever might be needed, but essentially asking for the halls to be available for real money is a little overkill.
Maybe the HoT update will finally introduce “real” alliances, so smaller guilds can band together and earn guild currency that way. It’s certainly possible now, with the people doing the missions representing one of the allied guilds each week in rotation. Maybe try this to get some merits? Though I don’t know how small a guild could be to never successfully complete at the very least the bounty hunt or sprint. Those are some tiny, tiny guilds…
