Never have i met a warrior in wvw so superior, hammer + mace build stun/knockdown!!
You would think staff – s/d would be to my benefit as longrange, just couldnt nuke cond on him.
Even with full stunbreak skillbar and elite did i managed to escape from 24/7 stun and knockdown.
How do we necros counter such a warrior build.
Casue god forbid me to run with full skillbar stunbreaks just for the sake of that build!
Or is that our ultimate weakness.I made this picture that may help you.
What!? the aoe ring has puzzle pieces in it?
Just thought I’d drop my two cents, if you’re a thief, just stay out of the water, period, in terms of PvP, unless you -really- need to go into it, just avoid it
I really don’t think this needs a story along with it. How do you counter these guys? Dat hammer+ mace/shield….Before you say blind field pistol offhand let me say this:
Yes, I do use the pistol offhand, and I do defeat a decent amount of them, BUT, if they hit you with even one stun, youre at the mercy of their 24/7 stun, yeah I can shadow step but the thing is that their stuns aren’t on a 50 second cooldown. They do hit relatively weak but hey, who needs power as long as I can keep you in one spot for an eternity and a half right? I really wish steal was a stun break sometimes…..
If anything I think the return is too long sometimes. I hate when people start running away and shadow return still has like 7 seconds left on it and its several feet behind me.
Haha pretty much
Seems like no-one has mentioned “That HAD to hurt!”, which is I think on melee crit, but I’m not completely sure.
Sylvari lines are amazing, anyway.
I actually did mention this on the first page :p But I’ll tell you what I didnt mention since I hear it all the time:
When using the bandage skill when downed- Female sylvari- Help me over here!
I alt a necromancer with a condition (fear) build so perhaps I can open up a door, and a veteran necromancer correct me if I’m wrong:
1. Condition bursting is the rapid application of conditions on a target in the shortest amount of time possible, hence bursting. The rotation is simply using moves that deal conditions, but a necromancer will generally end it with a skill that causes fear that way while you are feared, you will get hit with the conditions on you as much as possible, the most common condition youll get hit with is bleeding. And assuming you dont clear conditions, a necromancer’s conditions are, for all intents and purposes, permanent, as they reapply them very quickly.
2.I’d say mesmers and especially engineers are capable of condition bursting, but I personally think the necromancer is the best at it, followed closely by a condi engi spec
3. That all depends, let’s assume you are very powerful, condition wise: The best defense against conditions is health, so if you have low health, youll melt rather fast, medium health, decently fast, whereas high hp targets will be able to withstand conditions for a longer time, allowing them to cleanse them easier than others
4. The main counter here are simply condi removal spells. Whether it be like the necromancer consume conditions, or giving conditions to another target. Once again, high hp is a direct counter to condition damage, much the same way armor is a direct counter to physical damage. Necromancers, in my eyes, are the masters of conditions, they can burst them, heal off of them, and even give them all right back if applied to them. They also have a high health pool in case some waiting time is needed.

Female Human with white hair, playing a Thief all in dyed in black, with a Japanese name.
Delete your character please
I didn’t know we were all supposed to make our characters according to your preference and standards.
I don’t have a female human thief with white hair all dyed in black yet but I’m going to make one just to annoy people like you.
No you won’t, you say you will but you wont
mommy ?
This made me lol I’ll say it
It’s perfectly viable, but you will have trouble with D/P Thieves because they’re practically a hard counter to it.
This is all that is really needed to say, oh and classes that are good at kiting may give you trouble, and tanky classes since you lack the pulsing blind of pistol offhand
ArenaNet will not reduce the current amount of stealth options the Thief has, simply because they are afraid that the Thief will become the most underplayed professions, again. Most players who plays the Thief, plays it because of the way stealth and backstab currently works, as this playstyle resembles how an Assassin plays. If you where to remove that “feeling”, by reducing the amount of stealth options, you would lose a lot of Thief players. But I still think it needs to be done. The Thief should play like a Thief, not like an Assassin.
Again with the name nit picking? So I suppose they should remove sword from the class, since its called thief and not swashbuckler or duelist? And they shouldnt have a shortbow since the class isnt called archer right? Its not called marksman or pistoleer so i guess no pistols either. And you already pointed out its not called assassin, so no daggers either………
Get rid of of the Deadly Arts tree, thieves don’t kill
Foot in the Grave, that’s all I’m saying
Hm, I can somewhat agree with these. I find it funny how the bundles are actually exact counters to the classes you steal from i.e. stealth thief vs. stealth thief, whoever stealths the longest has the upper hand, mace head crack is a monster on guardians when used at the right time, necro fear is actually something I use when they go into death shroud so while they are running I can quickly hit them out of it. I personally don’t like the throw gunk, any competent person will simply walk out of it, and chaos armor cannot be stacked so it will wear off very quickly. Ice shard stab I tend to double tap steal for since I have a hard time hitting foes with it when they are moving, but if it connects it is very useful. Consume plasma is good as is, and I also wish whirling axe would give stability but then it -may- be op, not too sure. I think what needs the most tweaking is throw gunk since it doesn’t benefit most situations Spider man knows what I mean
This post will slowly be ignored, because you have no idea or any concept of class balance.
Ha. Aha. Ahahah. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, let’s see… you changed:
@2: Dire vs Carrion vs Rabid:
It all depends, but for a build that gets +30% crit dmg from soulreaping it’d be a shame not to up your crit chance along with it. Usually I’m not a fan of Rabid, but in this case I’d say it’s the front runner.
If you really want to go with that Dire setup then I suggest you rearrange your traits to create better synergy, and also go with Scavenging runes instead of Necro.
I have noticed the crit damage opportunity, but as I’ve said, would a condi necro really care about crit damage? Unless I am missing something. But even though foot in the grave is a very nice skill, should the final 10 go back into the crit tree?
Dire + Scavenging = win.
Chrys in everything else.
I’m rocking 30/30/0/10/0 (MoB on dodge) at the moment, but I’ve also found 0/30/20/0/20 to be good fun in Dire.
Ah I see, so it seems dire is the better set for this then at least until someone else objects to it.
(edited by RedSpectrum.1975)
I have felt that this trait only really provides condi dmg mitigation but eh *shrug
still feels like a necesity
The funny part about those screenshots is the fact that it takes you over 40k of total damage just to down a naked person. >.<’
You’re mistaken I think, the naked thief was downed after the backstab, but he auto attacked twice while she was on the ground. He backed away to avoid doing too much damage so as not to kill her. Notice the lack of a lotus strike
EDIT: the exp shows he killed her -_- BUT idk if you meant down down or dead down
I want my kitten steal to remove cc’s >:[
I’ve recently watched another of Nemesis’ five star videos on his re-work of the conditionmancer, here , and as usual he goes into a lot of depth about the choices he makes. However with all due respect, there are some things I don’t necessarily agree with about the build. So using his overall model, I decided to tweak it a bit to include what I believe I personally need, with the obvious cost of getting rid of some things that would otherwise be beneficial to me to an extent. Now, before you see, you’ll notice that a lot of the eqiupment is exotic and not ascended, why is that? I made this off of the resources I have available to me instantly. While I am not saying ascended is not worth getting, it is something that I can not easily pick up off of the trading post and/or make like say an exotic piece of jewelry. Another thing you’ll notice is the lack of food. Why would I not use food? It’s not that I won’t but I want to show the stats without temporary boosters.
One of my primary questions is, would you say Dire is better than Carrion for this build? I would think that toughness would be more helpful to me than power. And as a side note, this is indeed a terrormancer, so without further ado: Final Result
I’m sorry for taking advantage if your inability to counter a basic mechanic.
I’m sorry for using that advantage to Backstsb your glass build for a high amount of damage.
I’m sorry for stealth stomping you.
I’m sorry for jumping on your corpse before laughing until you respawned.
I’m sorry for lying this whole time, who am I kidding? I’m not sorry, I love it!
The perfect gif for that
For starters this would go better into suggestions, and second, it most likely won’t happen. Not to sound mean, but withdraw or evading won’t cure conditions just because one person doesn’t want to use Hide in Shadows and therefore cannot make his build work. Thats the trade off with respect to vanilla stats: Either cure burn pois, bleed, or crip, immo, chill. Imo, it would be a cool trait, like bountiful theft, where when you steal boons from enemies, you do a reverse pickpocket as well and give the enemy your conditions

After the Teq update I’ve noticed I get either horrible skill lag or I will flat out disconnect to the character select screen. I won’t jump to conclusion and say it’s the game, but my computer has never done this before and it only hiccups while the game is in play after the recent update. Am I the only one?
What classes would you say give you the hardest time with this build AikijinX? I surmise necromancers would definitely be trouble since putting condi’s on them period is a gamble since they could heal or give them right back, but what’s your experience?
I was under the understanding that Mesmer did a lot more damage and was more fragile, but I’ve never played Mesmer, so I wouldn;t know :I
They do more upfront damage, generally, and as for fragility, near every class is more fragile then necro
I am sorry that l read this thread..!!
Zacchary has this new pic craze going on
I figure if we pretend we’re sympathetic people will stop calling the nerf card on us -ahem- :
-I’m sorry I ran away from the fight, my health was low and shadowstep was the only utility I had left, there was no way I could have won, running makes me angry too
-I’m sorry I went full glass that game of PvP, I don’t have the durability nor time for a prolonged fight
-I’m sorry I ganked you in Obsidian Sanctum by downing you and throwing your torch off of the scaffolding, I was scared you were going to do the same to me
-I’m sorry i laughed at your corpse after I killed you in WvW, the other thieves were watching and I wanted to look tough for them
-I’m sorry I took your supply camp, my mates were getting awfully cold in our BL so I wanted some firewood to keep them warm
-I’m sorry I abused stealth, I get rather lonely since no one likes me for who I am so playing hide and seek is very fun
feel free to add hopefully they buy it<.<
Today I have constantly been disconnecting while in this area, has anyone else had this problem? What gets me angry was that I got into my server at one point -_-
During the second phase of the fight, Teqautl spawns whirlpools. If you get sucked in one you have to swim back to the surface or die.
If you ignore that and swim down instead, you’ll find the treasure chest.
just straight down? If so then thanks
Where exactly is this hidden treasure or whatever? :/
TC baby!! WOOOO
You cannot deny his big f**k you at the end was one of the best things ever. not that I’m saying i want to keep seeing it. The only thought going through my head as he looked at me after having trampled over 50 players, destroying structures and then flying out to sea was…..he has risen
Video won’t play.
hihihi
I laughed so hard
I love how the build can stall until your withdraw is back up too: evade, evade, evade, swap weapons, evade, evade, evade, sig of agility if needed with more evades, withdraw ;D
How are you going into stealth? CnD, DP combo?
Not that I know of, there is no skill as of yet that pulls you out of stealth
Ignore him. They’re squishy, but they’ll get stealth from CnD on your pet or any of spirits anytime good thief wants and keep resetting the fight.
It’s a sword- pistol thief…they dont have CnD…..
I think OP has only played GC, because a better balanced thief who doesn’t go GC will have much more interesting battles than “1222161228112”. And every class has a counter to backstab I would say them but the fun is only in finding out for yourself. The problem isn’t in us true thieves, its the new thieves that are only the class since they got three hit by one and decided to try one out for themselves and make everyone else rage. I personally like prolonged fights since it feels rewarding killing a very tough opponent who actually stood a fair chance.
now I can’t say for sure that it will be ear rings but soon one of the accessory, ring or back piece slots is gonna get legendary and it will be noticeable to everyone that you have it on.

i feel like its going to be back but heres for hoping
I laughed so hard as soon as I saw him naked
I STILL think it would be cool if we had venoms as our f key abilites as well as steal. The thief description says we use poisons yet alot of builds dont use venoms. I think haing a venom mechanic would be sick (we are still Dark types in the realm of pokemon though >: (
I seriously bet that revealed will last the duration of Sic’ Em, 10 seconds. Wait and see.
Thats the only thing I’m worried about, a reusable 1/3rd of a stealth trap. You thought a 4 second revealed will be deadly? think again
Any other opinions?
Seriously. I play solo queue mostly, and each time I see I rolled a team with two or more thieves on it, I smell a disaster is brewing. And indeed more often than not, I would even say as often as 90% of the times (yes, a made up number but thats how it feels) the team with those thieves will loose (unless enemy team also is thief heavy :p). Often badly. So, what gives?
From my experience thief is still a very strong PvP class. King of roaming in WvW and a decent node contester/roamer in sPvP. I’ve had some 1v1’s with some amazing thieves. So why is this happening that having thieves in sPvP matches feels like a handicap (unlike currently necros or decent bunkers)? You think that the profession is weak in conquest PvP? If so, why? Telling that “many noobs roll thieves” sounds like a conspiracy theory to me so I am not sure.
Actually thief is currently one of the weakest classes in PvP. I’d say thief and ranger are the two weakest actually.
As for WvW, thieves are “decent” at roaming. The only reason I saw that is that what a thief can do is try to catch someone offguard and burst them down. If the burst doesn’t work, they can run away. Personally, I think mesmers are the king of roaming.
GC thieves have to run if the burst doesn’t work, literally every other build can actually fight
My asura has the longest possible ears and she would like that.
+1
My sylvari has the elfish ears so she would look really nice with some
Just a tidbit to character customization, I personally (no one has to agree with me) think that having visible earrings on our characters would be pretty cool. Either like on the lobes or on the upper part with the cartilage. Even charr I think would look pretty B.A. with some nice charr earrings what do you guys think?
Thieves on sPvP are handicaped:
1- We get one extra second for Revealed (that Kills, a LOT)
2- Burst Damage isn’t that high on Spvp (damage drop from 7k to less than 5k with close builds)
3- Slower moving speed makes stealth more predicable.
4- We are a “killing-speacialist” class playing a conquest game. I prefer to not comment on the side effects. Its common knowledge that even if we are Strong on WvWvW, thief is crap for sPvP unless using some very specific builds (and they still sux).
Whatever, I am still aiming for my Champion Shadow buff.
+1 for you, 15 characters for me
My only question is that Sic em lasts for ten seconds, so will be be revealed to everyone, or just the ranger?
Wouldn’t say CnD is a cheaper stealth, unless you mean initiative, otherwise it’s more risky
