Actually, every single stomp interrupt can be countered, with eles thieves and mesmers though, it depends on when the person starts the interrupt. Of course if your class doesn’t have a blink then yes it is impossible.
Wlel deres ur prblm u hd uh thiif n ur teem
Yeah our current spec is heavily built around being agile so id wager a future spec would be built around heavy stealth
Besides, don’t asura hold greatswords the same way? It’s not like it hasn’t been done
So the chest is only in VB under successful conditions for a chance? Oh boy
Photoshopped
Because it won’t be
lol that was fast
It’s as if even the mods main Rangers, I was admittedly at work, did a fight break out lol
Infraction in sPvP forums. They be fighting back my hooded friends, however the other post is still alive in the game bug subforum, bump when necessary
(edited by RedSpectrum.1975)
Either that or it’s bugged and just doesn’t have it….either eay this needs to be addressed
So wait my gameplay has been a recording this whole time? Jokes aside some say it makes the class feel faster and you may be able to react faster in some cases, however I do recall some pathing/ranged problem with ports like steal?
It’s been 4 months. I’ve personally posted the topic a number of times, and I know others have asked the question in multiple threads.
Why is withdraw still missing the 10% noted in the patch notes? You increased the cd 3 seconds to accommodate a trait that competes with another build defining trait so no serious PvP thief can take it, but we still haven’t seen the increase.
Because stupid kitten like you and a lot of others believe in the devs. Simple as that.
And talking like that is why the devs probably don’t believe in this class
So we have to kiss thier kitten Really? What do you suggest everyone do? Wait patiently and lick thier b u t hole in hopes they buff us?
Drop the 10% heal already. They arent going to give it or it would of happen months already.
Let’s just make withdraw threads not just in the thief forum but in the pvp and hell even the bug forums. Maybe that sort of tenacity will cause a result, be it negative or positive
More like threads will be moved to this section or deleted and we would get banned for few weeks. You know, the usuall tactics~
basically the risk I signed onto when I picked this class sPvP thread is up and my burn coat is on
Cuz pistols need damage rolls eyes. Totally not related to cost/gain or range. Nope, just damage…
to be fair, pistols do pull off sexy numbers now
You’d probably have quicker and better (lol who am I kidding?) results if you post this on the actual thief sub forum. But here’s a tiny bit of advice now that made me a better skirmisher, use utilities as tools, not trump cards. In other words, it’s very easy to save utilities for when you really need them. That’s understandable and relatable, but the situations aren’t always going to present themselves. Instead of waiting until your CC’d to use Shadowstep reactively, try using it proactively- while kitting with shortbow or pistols shadowstep to the far opposite side of your opponent to throw them off. Then time it takes for them to relocate you on screen you’d done a nice amount of damage and possibly even set yourself up to better avoid that incoming CC you were saving that shadowstep for originally.
I wouldn’t recommend bringing into pvp with all the cleave now, but instead of saving shadow refuge as a battle ender/retreat, try using it to help you get a strong opener and then keep up subsequent pressure. The list goes on.

Please stop with this argument. It’s just not true.
Since day one a LOT of players gave insightful feedback of what was broken-OP and what was under-par about the thief class, without resorting to insult or arrogant behaviour.
No dev gave a kitten about that. So there comes a time when the patience is over, and NOT due to playerbase’s fault.
And perhaps you’re right, but negativity sure as he’ll isn’t going to help us anymore than we are right now (and we aren’t)

I would actually think P/D venom share thrown in there….caltrops on evade seems good so trickery will help. Bewildering ambush may even be nice too, as for an actual build, I don’t know one off the top of my head. I do believe DrD was a crucial line as well
I forgot how to pull up the breakdown, can anyone remind me how so I don’t have to go to combat log? On topic: LOL
They say sinister( now even viper) will be best for condi dps/support
I’d like to address this annoying bug. I hope my problem isn’t unique to me but when I click a skill that requires targeting, the circle will be green even if far out of range. Now obviously my shadowstep cannot transfer me to the mountain top but it gets annoying when it’s distances that honestly look in range but it’s out of range, but you didn’t know it, because the circle was green.
Mfw a non-thief even acknowledges what is wrong

And this is why we never get anywhere. You’re all too busy attacking each other instead of attacking the problem. It’s always “they were bad” or “if they were competent…”. If you guys used the same tenacity you possessed to belittle each other’s builds and play styles and directed it at a common goal then we’d probably be at least half a percent closer to getting what this class needs.
Do not post or bump this one anymore!
Okay.
I wonder how long it will take for someone to realize the purpose of this thread…hmm.
You think you’re so kittening clever don’t you? I had you figured from the start:
Nerfing stealth and evades would render the thief class useless officially, no amount of good play would save us. Simultaneously giving us access to quickness and swiftness would give a facade of a buff making players bring their thieves into PvP. They’d be lambs to the slaughter. After the copious amounts of threads complaining about it Anet would eventually delete the class entirely and remove all traces of it. With your main obstacle out of the way since DD condi is making a return, you’d get in your Revenant you have stashed away since they’d no doubt give them someone good in place of a pulsing reveal since the one class they did have that could abuse it is gone. Upon receiving these buffs you’d then go into copious amounts of pvp to finally get that Champion Ritualist title you’ve so coveted, except Dragonhunters would be a main threat. But by so cleverly deleting the thief, people would direct most attention to the broken nature of the DH, causing them to be nerfed to oblivion. As people abscond to other classes that aren’t thief and guardian, the Revenant will naturally have a good shot at them making them rage and quit the game. As more and more people leave you’ll gather their belongings to hoard as much gold as possible using it to raise the prices of everything on the trading post. With the price of gems now at an all time high Anet will lose out on supporters causing them to have to pull the plug. In the desolate wasteland that is now GW2 you’ll then be free to reshape the world in your image.

I just feel bad using the hammer extensively. I know that’s no light weapon so swinging it over your head constantly like that for an extended period of time must be exhausting :p
put 1 dagger into your main hand -> Press and hold 2 -> Character spams heartseeker -> Kill everything -> PROFIT
That was good at launch but now with the power creep of other classes and the godly amount of thief nerfs you dont want to spam just one ability and be caught without initiative cause you will most likely die.
Joke

Quickness isn’t even that great for P/P. You just run out of initiative faster and make it easier to dodge a whole unload.
I highly doubt anyone is dodging a whole unload with quickness unless the person about to unloads tells them to dodge. In some regards the quickness would give you a good shot at hitting them with more bullets as opposed to a normal unload since they’d get hit with more shots before they realize they are getting hit

Lol it is one of the best rev skills. To sum up it is about 6k dmg and 5k heal. You just have to use it properly. It works like signet (f.e. malice) but with activation and dps boost.
I can use Signet of Malice, it can be supplemented since thieves have the tools to help, such as caltrops being able to proc it as well as the various thief aoe dmg ticks. But heals such as this that I have to use preemptively I don’t get. What if I won’t need it? What if I do need it but am taking too much pressure?
I don’t get the complaint. It’s a heal that you cast at the start of a fight and do increased damage while sustaining yourself.
It’s fine.I really don’t understand what everyone’s fascination is with having the same exact functionality for everything. We lost an amazing condi spec and got a generic condi spammer(and some people claim it’s unique now…); I don’t want the same thing to happen to Shiro, where he slowly becomes something incredibly generic. Right now, he’s an assassin that sacrifices escapes and a strong mid-fight heal for good sustained damage/healing, Quickness/Super Speed, and the best Stun Break in the class.
I don’t want generic play, that’s why I like this class so much. I just want a heal skill that functions as a heal skill. If I wanted more DPS is use runes sigils etc to or go Herald for fury, not use a heal skill. When I use a heal skill it’s because I want to not die and survive not go out and get myself killed. All I’m asking for is a somewhat better initial heal, not a hits worth of dmg healed.
(edited by RedSpectrum.1975)
That depends by your position, if you are IN the trap than yes i can see why it would proc since believe it or not, shadowstepping is your thief running from point A to point B but I doubt lore effects balance that much. Now if I am outside of the trap ring and I step to the other side of the ring then no it should not proc.
For those that have dabbled in extensive pvp since hot launch with your “elite” specializations, how do you fight a fellow daredevil if you both are bounding your hearts away? The thief forums has been in ruins lately (I may or may not have contributed >_>) so as for an actual constructive thread, how do we counter a thief AS a thief, specifically the Daredevil.
This could very well be a L2P thing but I have played enough Revenant to unlock Herald and in the process used Jalis and Shiro and under pressure when on Shiro I feel like I have to draw back and wait for Jalis to come off CD to use his far superior healing skill. I understand the theme, Shiro is an assassin, it should reward a brutal fighting style. I feel like the dagger themselves barely heal you, and the only attack I feel safest to do it with is sword #3. When I use hammer to attack at range, the counter attacking with that barely heals me, and I have to use all hammer skills that damage to quickly get as much little ho back as possible before the buff goes away. On top of that, the initial heal is so laughable that it might as well shouldn’t even be there.
In BWE I didn’t use the Berserker’s rage heal for half the same reason, it heals initially for so little. If I use a heal I’m in danger so why are they forcing me to put myself in MORE danger to heal up? If you do that at least give me some backbone of health to stand a chance in my already weakened state.
EDIT: so after reading the replies you were all so wonderful as to respond with, I’m leaving with the take home message to use the skill as a DPS boost rather than treat it as a heal. Tricky, but I can get behind that
(edited by RedSpectrum.1975)
I use this staff, that could work right?
I think that was one of the newer stave skins they added solely because they saw the original skins were far too impractical…in short, most likely
I actually still play mine, heck I’m making a second one but ran out of tomes on due to my rev and Mesmer, lvl 47 guys, almost there!
ha…have you seen mesmers before? the class with the purple butterfly particles?
kitten those purple butterfly particles. They think they are so cool since the portal sound effect is the old theme song for the game played in reverse
Time to make a sword wielding shortbow build now, that hasn’t been done yet, might even use a dagger for offhand
… why?
In honor of proper archery, and so I can be a unique snowflake since no one has ever made a sword dagger shortbow build
That’s nothing, i saw a thief one shot a chicken the other day, this is unacceptable, chickens are people too!
Yo At least NPCs didn’t all gang up on me after that, I hated that about Skyrim.
Someone hasn’t been to Ebonhawke
Time to make a sword wielding shortbow build now, that hasn’t been done yet, might even use a dagger for offhand
Strafing, and jumping is possible, though will decrease your accuracy (Though with practice…)… dodging … ha, you will probably break the bow (possibly impaling a limb on it), the arrows will be everywhere… basically you will look like a kitten.
Oh yeah I understand movement is a thing. I was trying to get at like how you said, all that movement, in addition to using a weapon that needs quite some aiming time, while drawing the arrows and lining them up. We didn’t even touch draw weight. I know its a game but this is fun to criticize and may give me another element to beg for a thief nerf. No way they should be able to be that agile with a bow AND bounce arrows?
Also that video is a walk. I can begin the shoot animation and shadowstep and finish the shot at my new spot. Shadowstepping involves us running through the realms of shadows so you’re saying I am sprinting beyond full speed into a bow shot? Nerf teefs
(edited by RedSpectrum.1975)
Heh, looked it up it does actually resemble it. The only thing that DOESN’T resemble is the god forsaken idle… At that point you’re wielding a hammer.
…
That’s why every staff in the game prior to HoT doesn’t work thematically imo
And like 95-98% of all bows in the game don’t really work… Especially the metal ones. Essentially any material that doesn’t have good elasticity (crystal ones is another example)… Never the mind the speed of the shooting sequence and the possible penetration vs (say) heavy armor… Basically, our characters are super humans and their bows defy laws of physics/elasticity.
They do have more or less proper form, drawing, anchoring (though in mid air, but at least consistently in the same place), and releasing. At least on thief shortbow. Though the way they draw their arrow from their pretend back-quivers… suggests the arrow is EVERY short, or very soft and flimsy. They don’t extend their arm up as their drawing the arrow, they just kind of take it over the shoulder. The length (in inches) of an arrow is typically the person’s wing-span divide by 2.5 – so on an average person 28 inches…
And that’s ignoring the obvious fact that they are strafing, dodging, jumping etc AND shooting a bow?! Lol
Yup. Actually the staff auto attack, mainly the final twirl can only be effectively done with a Bo or any other plain staff. As someone with martial arts experience I can confirm doing the one handed twirl (which actually isn’t a twirl, it gives the illusion the staff is being spun with one hand) is extremely difficult with a weighted end. That’s why every staff in the game prior to HoT doesn’t work thematically imo
And make it so that when we have to dodge, we enter a quick time sequence and have to press 3 randomly displayed keys on screen or else we get hit
So let me get this straight, They Nerf Acrobatic’s because you guy’s couldn’t figure out that CC and conditions countered that spec. They hand out reveals, Aoe ,CC’s and conditions like candy (elite specs) then give thief’s a sub par version of acro. and your still complaining?
you’ve gone went full kitten son.
You’d honestly think Oprah was one of the devs
+1 I would also add that the thief elite stomp has an unintended behavior where if it lands the third hit right as the target goes into the down state it just says “invulnerable” and does not finish the player and puts the skill on full cool down. example: enemy is at 25% health first 2 hits of elite take it to 2% health, random skill kills target, 3rd hit of elite hits a millisecond later and does nothing
Oh that’s bullkitten, this needs to be fixed asap as well
They felt as though that having a “thief” be a role-model is backwards logic, so making us heroic and being able to handle anyone that comes across us gives kids the message that if they become thieves in real life, they can fight anyone and rip people’s hair out to blind them with it. Flawless logic, like their trenchoat logic too: Well kitten all these medium armor people wearing trenchcoats, they must really like them, let’s make more!"
The main flaw of this thread was that you mentioned you were a thief. Despite it being on the thief forums, if you said “Plea from a Warrior” you might’ve tricked them to respond
Kolly and Keitaro, you guys aren’t seeing his sarcasm
That’s nothing, in COF path 3, I’ve seen thieves use SR to not get detected by the bomb in the gauntlet. What the kitten? It eliminates all skill like the class as a whole.
