As a thief I hate traps, especially stacked on one another, I hate dogs, they knock me down, I hate counter on greatsword, only thing i hate about longbow is point blank shot…and if I’m not a sword dagger thief myself, I hate sword torch axe dagger as a dual dagger thief needs to get close to you and sword ranger has amazing mobility in combat. All mentioned above are steps to a counter to thieves, it should be noted they won’t necessarily be guaranteed to work, just nice measures to have a much better chance of working. lighting reflexes is a pain as well. Now if I’m Dagger pistol the fight would become harder for you but still winnable…you just have to worry about blinds. If i’m sword dagger things start to get a little frisky here, now I will constantly be on you no matter what weapon set you use no matter how mobile you are since due to initiative, I will always be more mobile than you and will always be the gnat in your face……use that to your advantage, set traps, set bonfires, make me go right into your conditions and set up counter measures because sword dagger doesn’t have as reliable condi clearing as the previous set ups and a good amount of sword dagger thieves are a defensive bluff, they go heavy into our vitality tree but zero into our toughness tree and also may have very little toughness trinkets. What I’m saying is, they get hit hard. And if its a Pistol Dagger, just run, we even hate these guys, nothing new here

Why are you trying to do this in the first place? Not being mean just wondering. If you are talking about those thieves that flip in their vids, that’s because they have dodging and jumping mapped to the same key I believe, to make dodging easier with some thief elements added for freshness
I like videos like this because they’re funny since they are relatable to me. While the above person was right, I can’t blame you since D/D doesn’t have the evades, blinds and shadowsteps needed to keep you alive, the one thing you can do is stealthstealthstealth, especially how it gives you very little to work with. I mean you even used blinding powder where most would use infiltrator’s signet, just for the extra shadowstep. I like how you’re even starting to add tips into your vids too, that’s stuff I like to see, make me feel fuzzy when people try to help others as well as showing video editing :P Keep it up
@ unlucky
If thieves are so OP, why aren’t you playing one?
isnt it obvious because if they play thief they suck at it and if others play thief they get owned and they QQ nerf QQ
So are you implying that all the Thief players who say L2P are actually giving useless advise because of a very real possibility that not all can play Thief properly?
You don’t have to play thief properly to play against a thief properly. You just simply have to understand what the capabilities of the profession are. That is why experienced thieves spam L2P.
Nope, we spam heartseeker
Mesmers are even worse you say and yet the thread is about thieves, or thiefs as the guys say these days
I will challenge Anet directly right here and make a bold prediction with 100% certainty that we are getting new legendaries with Season 2. Here is my list of reasons for being so confident:
1. It’s about time! We’ve all enjoyed working towards and crafting one or more legendaries by now
I have not actually….
Let’s swap Last refuge with Exposed weakness to meld with Cloaked in Shadow Im sorry too strong?
Once you become more experienced, anything flows like melted butter in a hot pan….Double dagger shortbow in PvE, shortbow is just useful period, and dual daggers offer high single target damage, but pistol whip does too, and up to three, dual daggers can do its damage while moving though, just backstab doesn’t hit as hard as a pistol whip, sword pistol works well for leveling though. The smoke field can let you take on several mobs as they cannot hit you. Rarely do I use sword dagger in PvE content, sometimes Dagger Pistol-Basically combine the smoking of Sword Pistol with the back stab of dual daggers. If im fighting a boss, I switch shortbow for dual pistols because unloadunloadunloadunloadunloadunloadunloadunloadunloadunload
EDIT: I have almost never used Pistol dagger in PvE, and I don’t think I ever will unless something demands it as much as Liadri did

Interesting, thanks for the responses guys
Which means they are in fact just a big species of reptile, nothing more correct?
I am curious on exactly what they are. As many know, drake in other forms of media is often associated with a type of dragon. However in Guild Wars 2, they seem to be wildlife, that can have draconic abilites, specifically breath attacks. Now the Guild Wars wiki (Guild Wars not Guild Wars 2) states that drakes are a type of dragon. Yet in the GW2 wiki, they are stated as “amphibious reptiles”. Now I know personally that there are the Elder Dragons, and to my knowledge, I don’t know if there are any other kind of dragon, also, the GW wiki states that dragons found not within Cantha are known as drakes, so my question is this ultimately:
Are drakes a kind of sub-dragon? Or are they just simply another species of animal that coincidentally has a name akin to a type of dragon?

On my siggy, but I’m just posting them here since it’s a contest, however the prize does not interest me.
are u sure cause i managed to solo her and she did not have that much hps maybe it is the scaling giving her too much hps.
Yeah she has a ton of health now, I don’t know if it’s intentional
This thing has like a million health, may be an exaggeration but it feels like it. It took a group of 10+ people to kill an enemy who doesn’t even have a title (Vet, Champ, Elite) half an hour , and the best part is the only loot I got was a festival token. For anyone wondering, this monstrosity is in Maelstrom. Either nerf his hp significantly or make him drop better loot, please Anet
You got no precursor the same reason why many of us have killed hundreds if thousands of mob at this point in the game and have gotten zero as well
I smell a necromancer
That ele was hitting dumb hard lol
Hey now, calling us vile is kinda mean. Besides, why go through this much effort to create a build designed around countering one class? Tbh, thief counters ranger since we can ignore the pet for the most part and fight the ranger while the pet struggles to catch up, or we can stealth off of it. it’s like making a fire type pokemon team that is good against water types. Regardless, rapid fire, sic em, and after my brief ranger session today, Counter on GS is LOL, Idk why GS rangers dont use this against thieves more often. AOES like traps and torch work well too, no new build needed
Fun fact: in Dark souls, the great scythe’s description actually admits to it being a farming tool yet still effective in combat, the halberd looking warscythe I think is inferior for looks imo, I prefer the tool
And then after the scythe we can add the expertly crafted garden rake, the zero-bladed shovel, the always deadly trowel and bucket combo, and of course the oft-feared wheelbarrow to the game as weapons. Joy.
I kid you not in DS II you can use a soup ladle
In other words, mug deals damage before the stealth, this all takes place in the span of like 16 quintillionths of a second so you’re good.

I especially loved the part where his damaging perma evading let him 1v5 the entire enemy team, loved it, 10/10 would watch again. And using D/D on an evading spec? Brilliant…amazing..breathtaking even…well, life taking rather
Lol i want to know how much gold i wouldve had, had I not used a single waypoint
Oh no, what will I do without my 2 silver!?
(Is it 2 silver actually? I’ve never payed attention because of how insignificant it is)
Candy Crush turns are only a dollar and yet the app has made a billion, don’t let that mentality of “It’s just 2 silver” getchya, that adds up, not that Im saying I dont mindlessly waypoint
Did someone really compare this game to Dark Souls? You can’t have DS mechanics in this game sillies
Sounds neat. And possibly complicated.
I just have a hard time explaining things, unless you meant complicated to employ then I don’t know if it will be. It would just be like “convert Xg Xs Xc to 700 gems and buy item? Yes/No”
IMO magi tech looked kinda bulky, as well as those scarlet gauntlets and shoulders
I was hoping for a feature, more quality of life change, for an auto gold to gem. In other words, if we have no gems and want something on the gem store, if we click it we would see how much gold would be “transmuted” and if we still want to, that respective amount of gold is taken from us, converted to gems and used to buy the item simultaneously
I actually had two threads for this and I’m on board
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Scythes-for-thieves-D/first#post3912645
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Scythes-for-necromancers-D/first#post3050167
If stealth completely dropped target even for channeled skills, I think to compensate, when the thief reappears, they should automatically be targeted to avoid having to re target them
I’m waiting for a thread where someone posts a vid and people accept it and not say “they are bad, they have zerg builds, you got lucky, etc” :p
Alright seriously… it’s “thieves” not “thiefs.” Why is that not a single anti-thief post on this forum can get the plural word for thief right? It’s as if the people who complain about thieves are actually inferior in terms of intelligence or something… ooooooooh waaaaaait
Thank you!!!!
Corrupt boon takes entire stacks. Bountiful Theft only grabs 2 stacks. So, if you steal, you’ll end up with only 2 stacks of might. Also, you are being deliberately misleading by giving a thief the maximum possible benefits for steal, while also not giving the maximum possible benefits for corrupt boon.
1 stack of 2 boons;
Your enemy have 8 stacks of might and protection of 25(?) secs —> BT on your enemy --> Your enemy lost high 8 stacks of might and protection and you get 1 stack of might + protection, both for 5 secs.
Why I should? The wiki underpinned my post, but not yours.
Reading comprehension skills are a must. The wiki says that bountiful theft works exactly as I described.
You wrote BT steal two stacks and this is wrong. It steals 2 boons and give max 1 stack of every stolen boon to you, also if your enemy have 15 stacks of might, and no other boon, it will give you not more than 1 stack of might.
That is the different between your and my post
You said that it would remove all 8 stacks of might from an enemy. It does not. It takes only one stack from an enemy. Hence, why it is not comparable to corrupt boon in any sense of potency.
From wiki:
Does not steal “stacks” of the boons; e.g. the enemy has 15 stacks of Might, your character is only going to receive 1 stack of might (unknown which individual might application/duration takes priority); if the enemy is using a boon that stacks duration, such as Protection, and has both a 3s and a 4s application of it (showing as 7 seconds total), your character will only steal the 3s or the 4s application of the boon (unknown which application/duration takes priority), not the full 7s.
In other words, it steals the boon itself, not the applications of said boon, so the target will lose the boon in its entirety, but the thief will only get one stack of itm left overs vanish into thin air
Honestly this is something I have only noticed recently, I used to play necro a TON, and recently came back to it, and previously, my fleshy would ALWAYS be attacking, the problem would be getting it to stop attacking and leash, this is something I paid a lot of attention to, so when I got back on necro and all of a sudden he won’t attack anything anymore, it definitely stood out.
It’s also something i had never seen happen when fighting other necros either, when fighting i would always have to down their flesh golem because it was doing such good dmg and crippling me, so idk what has been up with all of your flesh golems if they have been doing this since start, but it has NOT been the case with mine, or anyone i have fought. Until recently…
this, well mostly, I know you guys are saying this has been an issue, but honestly I have never had it this bad before, like it is BAD now
Why would I punt and or kill a puppy for you saying condi thieves are really strong? It’s the truth, no puppies harmed, sheesh we’re thieves not satanic ritualists…
I’ve never had an elementalist, that will change, but I’ve always loved being around asura elementalists and hearing them say : “Geological forces at my command!” Always made me think “Oh kitten , crud is about to get geological up in here…”
What nerf to the thief would finally make you stop sucking up tears and gitting guud and finally quit the profession?
I’m starting to wonder, the people that still target “perma-stealth”, are they new to game, new to pvp content, or have seen the multitude of other threads and still want their voices to be heard?
I like the venom suggestions…still in the bandwagon for having f venom skills, but I like these
Perma Stealth Thieves are thieves who never exit stealth (ie: never attacks), therefore, aside from stealth revives, are useless.
Semi-Perma Stealth Thieves are the ones who only stealth with Cloak and Dagger when their stealth wears off (so they’re revealed for about 0.5 seconds every 4 seconds). If a single weak attack every 4 seconds is giving you a problem then you should really look at what you’re doing wrong because they’re also being useless (Nobody’s going to die to a CnD every 4 seconds)
To be fair, cloak and dagger is actually a pretty powerful skill, many just associate it with it’s utility though and ignore that aspect
precast backstab on mug? You mean precast Cloag & Dagger? Or are you using the Stealth on Steal trait?
It doesn’t apply to backstab unless you quickly precast it with mug, so you are revealed before backstab lands.
But if Mug reveals you you will not get a backstab
Or is this some ‘bug’/‘glitch’/‘exploit’?
Pre cast BS into mug, similar to precasting CnD just need to be a bit quicker
You know what kittenes people off, saying GG before they are even on the ground first
Why is this thread still alive?
So instead of using another build….you deleted the class entirely…..so now it’s not just in game money wasted, possibly real world too, but it’s both money and time wasted here…
Basically what Thief Master said, I run it too and it works very well, the ha does embrace gives it even more constant condi clear than 20066 hitch is the main reason I use it over 20066, the only thing it’s missing is that bit of damage from the minor trait in acro but runes and sigils can easily make that up. It literally has the same agility as 20066
Wait im confused is this still a nerf SA thread or a nerf Spiderman thread…I mean I’m sure Venom and or Carnage would agree….
Any class tht abuses aoes and conditions, mainly necromancers and engineers
What do you guys do when you’re having a bad day in pvp and or wvw, do you suck it up and keep trying? Log off for awhile? Maybe do some dungeons to blow off steam….if te group is good. Or something else? What does a thef do when it’s pockets have no possessions from others after an unsuccessful heist…
Inb4improihavenobaddays
Inb4opcantinb4
I play WvW from time to time and I agree with this. Everyone uses food buffs or consumables to have the greatest possible effect. I personally don’t use these, why? Because I don’t like the idea of spending money on these things constantly, yet I’m at a drawback if I don’t buy them. I’ve even seen people claim food is a crucial part of a build before which i am not a fan of at. all.
So we are all clear this cannot be done now, now you thieves need to be 1337 like the rest of us
