This is all a part of a learning process to determine what kinds of content and gating work to retain players, and what kinds don’t. Because apparently after leaving GW1 the studio underwent a complete memory wipe.
It definitely could have some Half-Life 2 parallels to it.
My favourite scene in HL2 is the teleporter glitch scene, and the secrets/mysteries it briefly reveals. And it doesn’t even skip a beat. It just keeps on going leaving the player to wonder what just happened.
That would be an awesome thing to see happen in The Mists.
I remember how pumped that made me when waiting for the beta weekend to start.
I went back and tried mesmer again… and that is exactly what I thought. Sceptre was just painfully slow. Such a turn off to new players of the profession.
WvW also has ranks now, which earn you points that you can spend on wvw warfare perks.
edit: Oh, and musical instruments. Which you’ll probably notice after not to long when running around.

Can’t really bring underused/less effective builds up to par if there is a lot of skill overlap between builds. It won’t ever balance out right.
Best to add new skills, and plan it out so that these new skills synergize with the underused/less effective builds… and not compete to replace the skills in already effective builds.
Know what I’m saying. Yes, you do. XD
A presumably evil wizard lives there so Im not sure about that…
you mean the evil wizard who protects the human village to the north though the use of his elementals?
Chat up the folk around town. The more they reveal, the more you get the feeling that something ain’t right about that village. No sir. Not right at all. I left that place creeped out.
Elite skill capping deserves to come back. It was an iconic mechanic of GW1.
But I think to give it more longevity, without bloating the skill pool with elites, each Champion could have a list of ‘Aspects’ to cap with your capture signet. Aspects are like ingredients for a recipe. After you cap 3 Aspects, the specific combination you captured within the signet turns it into an account bound item that when double clicked can unlock a new elite skill if that character can use it. Then you still have to purchase with skill points.
It’ll take the community time to document the champions, their aspects lists, and what combinations provide what elite skill signets. And you can use alts to hunt down elites for your other characters, since a completed signet becomes an account bound item that is used to unlock the elite in the skill purchasing list.

I would like a twist.
In the depiction of the event it shows Abaddon as unjustly betrayed by a jealous pantheon and history written to silence him and tarnish his name. And have the reveal done in such a way that you couldn't really tell if the fractal was glitching up its extrapolated data to fill in the blanks, or if there was some truth to the depiction.
Yeah, PvP and WvW are tiered and change appearance over time. It reminds me of HoM from GW1. Anet should consider doing something with the PvE medals that is similar. Is kind of cool and doesn’t take up much space.
Joko will just laugh and call it a butterfly rainbow stick. And then somehow use the sword’s appearance to criticize his minions ineptness.
Envy how can you have been there to defog it earlier and not recognize it on the map. XD
Caladbolg has these skills on its skill bar…

I wish Trahearne would just stow the thing and use his necromancer skills in personal stories. Maybe he wouldn’t die so much.
I think you will be happy with EG on your next attempt.
It’s funny because I swear there is a rune or sigil with +chill duration that doesn’t work.
It’s like the two items had variables that were mixed up by accident.
I would like to see many professions get skills that have the same concept as Subject Alpha’s ’Teeth of Jormag’ skill.
From the Wiki:
Teeth of Jormag - Two red rings form around all players in combat; the inner ring will either have ice or a light blue mist inside it, and each of them causing different effects after a short time. Alpha uses this on the second and third paths.
1. If the ring has ice in the center it’s safe to stay in the middle of it, as anything else within the two circles will be hit by a rock spike corona and suffer huge damage.
2. If the ring has blue mist it’s safe outside the inner circle, as an ice spike will hit in the middle dealing heavy damage.
If it was the last round in the video, I don’t see anything wrong.
Engi got lucky with that trait proc canceling the supply drop. The supply drop being available later on allowed engi to cut the thief’s escape route off at just the right moment in the match. And it was the thief’s fault for predictably moving the same direction whenever they fled.
I prefer having bomb kit if using EG. The two work well together in a variety of strategies. It just requires constant attention to spacing, as you need to kite while staying within a very close range.
That was amazing Koroshi. :O
I second the vote for EG. Add on the stun break, condition removal and blast finisher.
Your bomb kit was doing enough dps on it’s own with the confusion, burning.
Further proof that moas are body snatchers secretly replacing Tyria’s population.
I can only point out some suspicious variables.
1. The Infinity Ball personal quest introduces the steam creatures, and claims that they are future asuran technology.
2. Steam Fabricators in Lornar’s Pass are building Steam Portals to transport more Steam Creatures from their place of origin.
3. The first Steam Creatures to appear in the present initially arrived somehow from their point of origin.
4. The Steam Creature breach in Lornar’s pass is intersecting the halfway point of a line drawn between Thaumanova and Chaos Crystal Cavern (where the Thaumanova’s experiment crystals were excavated from).
5. The Thaumanova Reactor has a secret button that specifically displaces a steam creature from somewhere. The button warns not to push it, so it is likely its results were observed and noted as dangerous before the Reactor’s destruction.
So Thaumanova experiments resulting in space/time displacement is still a possibility. I personally doubt it was the initial intention though. I have a theory about what they were trying to do there.
(edited by Redfeather.6401)
That is it exactly! Thank-you for finding the right angle! :O
As steam creatures are only invented and manufactured in an alternate future, there is still reason to suspect space/time transference is involved somehow.

Unfortunately I feel you are right, Deified. The area just doesn’t entice. I have an idea of what they were doing underground, but most people wouldn’t as the incident is presented in a way that makes it feel… generic.
Here is the wallpaper for upcoming Cutthroat Politics.

Behind Evon looks like the water area underneath Zephyr Sanctum.
But what is behind Kiel? Is it the crashed ships down there?
I never thought I would vote for a Charr over a Human, but you know what…he has the most personality, and frankly I am bored of oh-so-good, sparkly-clean, do-gooders in GW2….a more gritty personality is welcomed.
Consider what Pixelpumpkin pointed out.
I miss seeing the Ban Scythe applied to people. The chat goes absolutely bonkers after it happens.
Is it possible that the Uncategorized Fractal is the sealed off modern day version… of the city on top of Thaumanova Reactor?
My theory is that somehow Uncategorized is an alternate timeline connected to Thaumanova research and Dessa doesn’t know she isn’t from your Tyria.
It would explain some weird inconsistencies, like the thought of LA having a portal to Mistlock being absurd to her, and her not knowing what a sylvari is.
A funny thing, Uncategorized is full of harpies, and in greek mythology… harpies are the children of Thaumas.

I’d also like it if you can do stuff to unlock, and then use your skill points to buy, all the racial skills with a character.
What server do you play on, darkace?
We already know why abaddon fell. He gifted magic all across tyria and started a domino effect of war and anarchy. The other gods were not to happy with the fear it caused so they neutered him permanently.
As for the Thaumanova Reactor. The mists do not simply recreate the events of fractals. They make alternate versions realities. Since the Thaumanova Reactor was about tapping into chaos energy, it’s essentially a rise of chaos. The opposite of what happened with Abaddon.

Dulfy has already been made a boss in GW2 and a pivotal character from GW1 Searing event.

Gut instinct may want The Fall of Abaddon, but if you understand the Thaumanova Reactor then Kiel is a no brainer, as it is going to offer way more potential.
here is a picture of my ele, this is an old, I changed dyes, I still look epic though, I’ll upload the old one and upload the new look when I get the chance since the game is updating
old look
I love that it doesn’t look squishy at all. Very interesting combo. :O
It’s probably just this…

If so, then I know from personal playing on engineer is not worth it.
Dude, that stinks. I literally made the decision tonight to go save up for that skill. :/
If this is a serious problem, then is better to suggest tweaking this…

… in wvw play.
Promote more split play instead of nerfing zergs. To each individual player the zergs are safe and rewarding, but they are actually a waste of bodies. If split play offer more rewards, then people would be willing to take the risk of incorporating it into their strategies. And is already more effective than a zerg, just not as safe/rewarding for each individual.
(edited by Redfeather.6401)
Everytime I die it’s either to a zerg or 1-5 thieves. But I honestly don’t mind. XD
A strong class role for them is player killer. Many players prefer to spec them to be such, and the balance is that they don’t have much influence on the map beyond picking off the odd player.
Dual Shield for engineers. The sheer awesomeness speaks for itself.
In GW1 missions had bonuses that yielded extra skill points if completed. It made some missions a lot harder.
Don’t forget ascended items are cheaper too. Think it’s 10 laurels less + a bunch of badges.
I haven’t used healing turret in a long while, but back when I did the cue was the crank.
Once you see the crank on top of the turret move, using a blast finisher within the aoe circle would always create the combo.
I sent all those items to “deposit collectables” but cannot find them in my collections anywhere in my bank. So where did they go?
All pvp items once deposited go into your pvp locker for use on all pvp characters.
Go to the mists through your crossed-swords icon. The pvp locker is close to the pvp gear merchants.
PvP locker is also the best place to preview gear skins as every skin has a slot in the locker and every slot has a preview option whether you own the piece or not, so you might want to check it out often.
Some months ago I spent the last of money on condition duration gear.
Didn’t check the forums/wiki until afterwards and I just bought paperweights.
That ain’t right. Can you make a video?
I felt the same way about Ele and Mesmer.
The chest list does have a …. in the skin list. Is universal for ‘and more’.
