The side popup is probably the karma acquired after boosting effect is applied.
If you have no identifiable karma boosts going on, then it could be the players in WvW fighting for their lives bringing you that boost. XD
Could have had the vote for FotM happen after Cutthroat Politics.
A scene in Mistlock where Kiel enters and talks to Dessa about future research. The conversation eventually leads to Dessa’s decision that the ‘volunteers’ should have a vote. And then you are given a chance to vote.
Tyria is being treated like a carnival.
The center of Tyria…
http://www.garygoddard.com/gbim/1311.jpg
Changes every 2 weeks. New games/rides/prize booths.
The outskirts of Tyria…
http://24.media.tumblr.com/fa0789f1a8a126be653455b61e4f9421/tumblr_mpkqnnbjG31soewi5o3_500.jpg
Tyria has many areas that when I first experienced them I developed an emotional attachment to because of what I experienced there. But they were treated like rides and prize booths and haven’t changed. They aren’t drawing in the crowds anymore. And sometimes I go back to those areas and feel this strange feeling. Like I’m empathizing with the area and it feels neglected.
And EVERYTHING ‘living world’ content is introducing is making it more pronounced.

The PvE is grossly imbalanced because of it’s design.
Ideally you want 3 routes for character progression in a game that has dps/support/control as it’s design core.
Balanced Route.
Min/max support route.
Min/max control route.
Min/max dps route.
And to be balanced, the more one min/maxs down a particular route, the more that player should face situations where different combinations of group synergy are required.
However, right now one can min/max down the dps route, and handle 99% of the pve content on their own because of how the PvE is being designed. Almost everyone is a lone-wolf as a result. The game isn’t challenging them to be anything more than that.

I think it’s a problem with the area.
Sorry but no…
What you are describing is going back to the old tank/dps/heal/support roles and thats a step back.
Were they really?
Esplen, topic is about something else.

I really love the GW franchise, but there is one thing I actually really miss from GW1.
Please watch this video below (it is from EQN multiclass panel discussion), and maybe just talk about about the value of such a system, and whether you can bring this kind of thing to GW2. It is something I really miss from GW1, and would love to see it brought back to the franchise.
(I cannot do time stamps. Part I’m talking about starts at 17 minutes and 21 seconds)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOKhfxwLokg&t=17m21s
Everyone here in the community, feel free to watch the video too and discuss your thoughts on how the system spoken of makes you feel. What do you like/dislike about it, and what strengths/weaknesses do you feel it brings to a game?

The closest thing to a tank was the front-line.
The front-line’s purpose was not tanking.
XD
The shocking revelation is that the Floating Castle is a giant sanctuary for flying creatures wanting to escape being used as mounts.
OP, that was subtle and hilarious. XD
Well good news then, cassius.
Everquest Next is very much borrowing from what GW1 and GW2 do, on top of doing their own thing.
Multi-classing with over 40 classes to mix n’ match.
8 skill hotbar (4 weapon specific skills/4 class based skills), & weapon swap are what immediately screamed ‘GW’ to me.
As for your points on xp and dynamic events.
EQN doesn’t use xp. They have a new type of progression system.
And since it utilizes procedural generation mechanics, world building/destroying systems, and emergent AI for it’s non player population, nothing happening in the world will be predictable or repeatable.
I’ve recently started playing ranger and the mainhand sword is probably the weirdest feeling, but most awesome, melee weapon I’ve experienced.
From what I’m learning you are supposed to conscientiously decide whether to use all 3 chains of #1, or input a #2 or #3 in between. The chain of 1, and the 2 & 3 skills flow together so seamlessly in any order you use them, that it has to be intended. Since #2 and #3 are evades there is no need for dodge rolls. This is definitely a extremely effective pressure weapon with twitch defense capabilities.
Each pet swap should have a cinematic.
Imagine swapping to an eagle pet and seeing from the eagles perspective coming down from the heavens, each and every time you swap.
Kind of like this.

I though it was going to be more of unique skins from the champs. So the troll will drop something that only that troll will drop etc… you can spam them but you will get the same items over and over.
I heard that too. And IMO that situation would be ideal. A lot of incentive to go out and ‘bounty hunt’ all the different champs.
Check out the EQN livestream then.
The queensdale champs are super fast and easy.
Only the wasp is a slower fight due to it’s periodic hiding phases.
If you are trying to get onto TC wait until after the weekend. I am on TC and weekends are crazy busy.
I believe it will, but only if you transmute it to a white (common) item. That will make it account bound instead of soulbound. Then your ranger should be able to transmute it to whatever they want.
Can anyone confirm this? Because I don’t want Tristan to waste fine transmution stones and gold on something that might not work anymore.
A word of advice, hopefully it helps.
Save up your karma, and once you reach 80… guest to a server that has Temple of Balthazar open and just get all your cavalier’s accessories there.

As for armor, buy it in wvw, or on trading post that is level 78-79 exotic. My level 80s berserker armor is either just under level 80 trading post bought armor, or wvw bought armor using badges and gold. I’m a cheapskate.

I would like this option. I agree that there are too many useless elite skills . What I would add to this though, is whichever utility you put in the elite slot gets a buff, increase in duration, increase in intensity, or maybe for some even new special effects (not all of these at once though). Granted there would need to be restrictions on which skills can be slotted because some utilities are borderline OP in their normal forms already.
It would be awesome. Similar to GW1 elites. GW1 elites were just enhanced versions of existing skills. And because there was so many elites, and so many builds were developed around their choice of elite, it created a lot of build options.
If they brought uniques and skill capping with bosses from GW1, it would be kind of cool.
So long as they get a Metsu Shoryuken is all good.
I think the reason is because in wvw a player can develop a character to have a legitimate role and fill a niche within the wvw content.
In PvE players are going on scripted rides, collecting tickets for novelty prizes, and the content doesn’t really have niches that want/need/care about long-term players (apart from farming).
IMO, GW2 is still better than the other mmorpgs I’ve played. However, is just a better way of doing what every mmorpg seems to do. I can’t wait for EQN reveal tomorrow, just to see what ideas they’ve come up with for a sandbox mmorpg. I am curious.

Nuka, I think the 6th is just adding more themepark content. Have no idea when the game changing stuff is going to start appearing. Hopefully it is soon, as I am in a rotation of making/deleting alts right now to keep gameplay fresh.
When I start a new character…
I ignore heart quests and personal quests completely!
After the tutorial where I level up, I do a 180 and immediately head into the racial city. From there I find the Asura gate to lions arch. In Lions Arch I get the waypoint that connects to the gates that go to each starter city.
From that point on I just hop between every races cities, going into their starter zones looking for skill points on the map (they are the little blue arrows on the map).

Vertical Progression Vs Horizontal Progression.
If you don’t like it play WoW.
Where is the horizontal progression in GW2.
I bet is hiding somewhere between gear treadmill and aesthetics farming.
I’m not picking on you Daecollo, I’m picking on the game and just using your post as an opportunity. Is all good.
I’m just waiting for new skills and hopefully changes to barely used existing skills.
Looks like a stinky elite. What is it supposed to do? Set up a ranger ‘spike’? lol
How do you know Jennah isn’t already a robot and this is how they invade.

It took me a weekend. It was the first beta weekend too. XD
Here is how I map my keys.
e,s,d,f – movement
z,a,q,r,g – weapon skills
c,v,t – utility skills
shift – heal
1,2,3,4 – profession specific shtuffz
If you play wvw then both JQ and TC are good choices. TC is an RP server though.
I enjoy playing on Tarnished Coast.
Since I mainly play engi, I going to say turrets. Even when totally specced to a turret build, many of them still feel underwhelming.
Would be cool to see gauntlets. Some professions use them to brawl, while others use them for magic/tech abilities.
Could be rune set. Technically runes allow any profession to do things like stealth or mist form.
I love doing this in wvw. I laugh like Scorpio when I do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnod9vtB4xA
And yes, a clever group retaliation buff on the other side will kill you before your laugh can end. XD
Reminds me of Dexter’s Lab. Flame On! Whooooosh. Flame Off! Flame Off! Flame Off!

Really needs a smoke field instead of a blast finisher.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smoke_Vent
Would add to the FT much needed synergy with other kits/gadgets/turrets.
Currently FT is too compartmentalized for a profession whose strategies often revolve around incorporating mix n’ match synergies.
I’ve always hated mmos that called themselves rpgs. RPG ain’t a set of mechanics, copied from a system, copied from a system, that was copied from a system introduced back when people only had pencil, paper and dice.
Will see on August 2nd if SOE, of all people, have learned how to make a proper mmorpg.
You know what game does conditions right. Dark Souls. You don’t land a condition until you fill up the meter first. And filling the meter fully is hard if the target has a high resistance to that condition.
As for these restrictions, I’m not sure I like it. I don’t even like conditions doing damage. Conditions are capable of doing so much more than just compete for damage. If conditions were changed to add interesting debuffs instead of some simply being another form of damage, then maybe restricting profession’s use of conditions would work well.

Only time I’d ever revive someone in a champion fight is if the mob is pulled from the downed players location first.
Reviving a player puts you way up there on the mob’s aggro list, and if down in close proximity to the mob, 1 downed player quickly becomes 2 or maybe 3. It happens so often that I bet many people are playing it safe and not really a case of everyone not caring to help.
I think all that fighting would distract them from their intellectual pursuits.
Being on friendly terms with everyone gives them a lot of opportunities to tinker away.
The only fighting they currently do is between themselves.

I tried double-tap at first, but it didn’t suit how I wanted to play.
Here is my setup.
Really cool screenshots there. I can’t believe you played it with persistent nametags set to on. :O
Dueling is an eyesore and makes lots of noise. That’s why we got costume brawl instead. XD
Dueling would be neat. Maybe someday.
I mean, how am I supposed to look down with
disdainutmost respect on other people if I can’t see them? :P
Now I know why the back of my neck burns when walking down that street in DR.
The Queensdale perspective of the moon has had that look since before the game’s official release. If it is significant, then it’s been right above us all along. :O
