Unless your doing fractals or running end-game content with elitists you shouldn’t feel compelled to get ascended at all. So relax and sleep well. Enjoy your holidays.
One of the things I loved about GW1, and I know I’m in the minority on this, was unlocking skills in PvP and then getting to use tomes in PvE to learn any skill unlocked on your account.
So if in PvP I was playing an assassin and unlocking skills for him, but in PvE I was maining a mesmer and wanted an assassin secondary, I could use tomes to quickly learn assassin skills (even elites!). It was pretty cool.
I know this has nothing to do with GW2 as it’s a completely different system, but just wanted to share my nostalgia with another GW1 fan.
He’s the guy that could wipe your group with a single use of Impossible Odds. But… it could also kill him if you planned it that way. XD
Here’s factions intro movie to show him.

Joko also has to deal with the fact that his undead army are exasperating to manage.
That’s a good point. We know ******** still exists and was chilling at the priory, so what about Razah! :O
BTW, for those who didn’t play GW1, here is Razah.

Hey, so I noticed not too long ago that I managed to deflect a projectile with my staff, and it confused me some.
I know staff combo ends with a reflect move, but I wasn’t in the middle of a combo.
Is there some way to trigger that staff spinny jazz on it’s own to reflect when needed?
Is Beserker Warrior now Meta for the raids?

It pleases me greatly that people are joking about getting closer to the warrior+mesmer meta.
Coming from GW1 and maining a mesmer I feel proud mesmer has that much clout.
If this were a game that took months to hit level cap I would be incline to agree with you, but even casual playing will net you copious amounts of Tomes of Knowledge. I think I have 150 in my bank right now and I don’t do anything outside of dailies, fractal dailies, and then occasional HoT meta. Getting to 80 is a piece of cake in this game!
I have too much equipment with my main, to go through all that again on a new race.
Don’t really matter as I can learn to simply ignore how they look at this point. Is all good.
It would be very nice.
Got 2 total makeover kits and I now give up in trying to make my norn thief more thief like, it just isn’t happening with a norn.
How frequently are you tagging these mobs with CC effects?
I ask because I have some combos that vamp/leech like a mofo and it doesn’t take long before I see scores of “immune” start popping up like the trigger has a limit or something.
Just add new infusions to replace the old.
Time to get your uncanny jar if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Requires karma, not sure how much. Just wiki it if you haven’t already gotten it.
One of the main criticisms of GW Nightfall was the grind required for max level characters to enjoy the story. Other than that Nightfall was well received. And that grind people complained about was removed.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_Wars_Nightfall#Critical_response
So what happened since GW2 to try and introduce that mechanic again?
It’s why I won’t touch HoT for another month or so.
Started for me on the weekend with my daredevil. A dash that goes nowhere. And I know that ain’t right, cuz dash breaks immobilize.
I was starting to think the game was just being mean because all kinds of stuff were happening to stop me from getting the last pristine fractal I needed to finally buy my first ring. Oh my precious. Precious….

Oh, I see. I misinterpreted it all.
So each mastery point is awarded for completing each level range of the personal story, and since I completed the story already I got them all.
I goofed and thought it was achievement based and tried to get more points with new personal story choices. But now I know.
Thank you guys.
(edited by Redfeather.6401)
According to wiki story was supposed to give me mastery, but it doesn’t. Are there any easy ones to get that don’t involve doing all dungeons, collecting all spoons, unlocking all armor, etc. Because it’s just 1 point and I would like to do it this weekend.
Just did the personal story with a charr character and got the achievements, but no mastery point. According to teh wiki personal story of each race can give mastery point.
edit: And I searched google. All I could find was people on reddit saying this is bugged, and that was 2 months ago. So what’s up with that.
If they added a gw2 PvE server that…
1. Used attribute points instead of stats.
2. Allowed secondary profession.
3. Elites skills could only be captured from bosses, instead of bought.
4. Equipment used AR, runes, and insignias.
5. Weapons used inscriptions and upgrade components.
I’d buy that version for $99.99
And I’d live there until I was little old man. And die with a smile on my face.
That is honestly amazing.
I have plenty of suggestions for what gw2 could do, but not what players could do with gw2. lol
Because the king has gone senile.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Once I wanted a celestial set, but the more I learned what was required the less it mattered. I’m getting by easily without it.
Wesslen.
Even though Anet added an official action camera mode, Wesslen still busy working on refining it further.
edit: And thank-you Joel for programming an official version. It’s literally the best feature in the game.

My thief is full zerkers and I do HoT and fractals just fine. I guess this is some people’s opinion over what’s actually doable. Actually it’s a Daredevil with Dash, so there is more survivability there from evasion than most people might assume a thief to have in full zerkers.
I don’t believe there’s any way to see your progress, beyond the fact that once you reach the max the map reward will disappear from the map screen until the next reset.
I suppose you could keep track of your progress with a spreadsheet or just writing down what you’ve gotten on paper and then using wiki, but that only helps if you start doing it right away, not if you’ve already gotten partway done.
Pretty sure the disappearing thing is just a bug. I’ve had it disappear on maps where I haven’t even gotten any rewards yet and I can continue to get rewards from maps where it has disappeared.
It’s disappeared for me too on random maps and I still continue to get rewards afterwards.
And it might be connected to map completion or something that updates the zone’s mouse over UI window. I have no idea.
The wiki says Champ effigy will drop it if you have Obsidian Magma Container in your inventory.
They’re literally plants… attempting to follow an unseen will… and using corpses as blueprints for this will’s need for introspection.
So whatever folklore has already done that? Perhaps the Simpsons.
In my opinion the Cipher quests and final part “Path of revelations” were hinting at something about what’s going on with the gods and these dragons.
The same facets from Glint’s Lair. Yeah, each one of them was tied to a god, but they were referred to diffently. Light, Nature, Chaos, Darkness, Elements, and Strength (each tied to not only a god, but also a base class).
The most interesting part to me was Kerrsh’s analysis, and his working theory throughout the quests. It seemed to hint that a part of teh eternal alchemy involved power transference. So maybe gods were not always gods, and someday a new pantheon will emerge.
I’m sure the inquest would know more about all this than I would.I think the biggest plot hole (if you will) with the dragon / gods theory is that from the lore we have, the dragons have always been a part of Tyria while the human gods came from ‘elsewhere.’ The issue here is that we don’t know what or where that ‘elsewhere’ is. They could be truly alien, which could debunk the theory.Or they could all be part of some greater whole of which we have no knowledge, offshoots (facets) of a greater power. Or they could be some sort of kin, like calling to like so to speak. Who knows.
There’s room to speculate which makes it fun. I have theories and such. One being that Tyia is a bubble of reality within the mists. And the mists could be thought of as a quantum state.
Gods emerging into tyria and dragons already existing in tyria, would not exclude power transference and the creation of gods. I’m really not sure I’m making my thoughts clear as the responses I’m getting seem odd.

I play on a regular basis and got one of these survey emails. The first question asked my age range, so I entered the info and the next thing on my screen is ‘thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.’
So, either my age range will help improve the game somehow, or (signs point to) input from my age bracket isn’t needed. Which is unfortunate, but it’s better than wasting my time.
Yeah, some surveys do that. They are typically looking for, hoping for, honest answers from whatever demographic has the most spending power.
Again it sure would be cool were we able to switch in combat on the fly and i find all three of those elites useful. Even in a Condo build there a bit of a choice to make as dash can be useful there and it is nice to be able to put the SB away.
It kind of makes me angry that our profession mechanic is 1 endurance bar, and it’s the grandmaster traits that completely outclass the profession mechanic.
Would have been so much better if profession mechanic included dodge type swapping beside the steal icon. Then the grandmaster traits could be used to do what other professions grandmasters do.I think the original idea (before the ridiculous powercreep) was that specializations were not suppose to be insanely better than core specs. It’s ok to have them be better in practice just because they compensate what was previously a weakness of the class (like Scrapper with melee presence), it’s another matter when it’s just an OP version of a traitline. Dash and Bound feel like GM traits, and they are actually among the only traits in the game to have a very obvious animation. How cool is that?
You have a better way of looking at it. I didn’t consider that balance wise, the way daredevil profession mechanic and GM traits works was actually better.
The source code should be open to the community so that it can be modded. We could add jumping and new textures/models/animations. I honestly would go back.
that would be like adding jumping to diablo
You’re not thinking big. First you add the jumping mechanic. Then you mod in random boxes strewn across the land. Boxes that you can jump unto. And once on the box, you can jump again to jump even higher. It’s only the beginning… Reach for the staaaarrrss!
I tried lfg today and it was frustrating. Any group I could get into was basically doing a paint by numbers run of swampland, then leaving. I don’t even know what they gain from that.
It’s probably going out to inactive accounts. And if that is true, then technically it’s not going to players of GW2 and the very first sentence is funny.
The same thing happened in GW1 towards the end of it’s development.
Out of my 5 characters, thief is the most fun by far.
You have to be on point though. There is nothing inherent to the class that makes higher level pve safe for a thief.
Just google it. I found a group advertising doing it tonight from googling just now.
Couple of nights ago I joined a guild co-ordinated effort. They advertise.

GW1 Factions: how to do an expansion right.

I wish a bunch of anet employees would start their own company and make a spiritual successor to GW1. I’d love to see a game like that be made again.
I am beginning to remember why I quit the game years ago.
There is no depth.
It always somehow boils down to farming 250-1000 of 50 different currencies in an amusement park.

My dash and pole vault skills ensure that I clinch every olympic gold the game offers.

Is she still around? I used to hear her all the time by the bank in old LA.
There was a time GW2 was Casual Friendly

Unless GW2 has underwear dance parties on a regular basis, it’s not casual in the slightest.
I’m pretty sure I know who luke’s father is, so it’s all good. No worries.
“Ever dance with Abaddon in the pale moonlight?”
