Ain’t gonna be another GW. The dinosaurs won. Evolution is just a gimmick.

This Seriously just made my night

Hey, I was being serious.
For example GW attribute system was steps ahead of GW2 stat system. It’s like Anet woke someone from crygenic sleep who only thought of stats as something you see in rpgs, like tabletop D&D, and had no idea what something like MtG even was.

Exceptionally bad slideshow for me. I had to quit earlier as it was too much. And I don’t even remember the last time something like that happened! It’s so weird.
Don’t know if it helps, but when I quit teh game looks like my fans were running at half speed and my pc was running hot. It’s fine now, so I will do wvw again later and see if the slideshow effect is gone.

I heard that they were just going to add another three layers above each of the HoT maps accessible only by an infernally difficult jumping puzzle and gated by a new adventure where you have to shoot invisible sparks with a bent rifle whilst standing on a greased branch in a negative gravity sandstorm.

I might be wrong though.

This is GOLD!! GOLD I tell you!!

Make it insanely hard, make sure there’s a booby trap right next to the end chest that forces us to restart from the very beginning!!

A very tiny hole right in front of the chest that you can’t see unless you position the camera just right. And the hole disables your glider and causes you to fall all the way to the ground level again. Where every WP for a hundred miles is contested.

I think the Black desert dev’s have made a grave error with the forced open world pvp. I very much doubt they will ever enjoy the numbers that they could have had if not for that one boo-boo.

A thing that is cool with Blade and Soul is how your uniform can be used to flag your character for open world pvp if the uniform is faction based. Actually I like how they handle uniforms as a whole. With stats being linked to soul shields not uniforms.

Population fluctuates wildly. It’s easier to keep it consistently higher when new content adds something to player characters that can carry over and interact with pre-existing content. Gives character a longer lifespan as they can go back and enjoy things they missed or experience them again in new ways. Xpacs can accomplish that, but so can clever mechanics updates/additions.

Problem with many mmorpgs is that they don’t build a framework for such ‘re-invigoration’ from the start, and the content they do start with isn’t expansive nor deep enough to keep the game afloat long enough to revamp it’s design.

I harp on GW2 often, but it is doing things right. Adding gliding to core game and creating the base for elite specs are things that will work to efficiently use content both old and new to re-invigorate players.

Quit putting your interpretation of my post into my post. I never mentioned any of that stuff. The things I did mention did not have to be abandoned in favour of copying how other mmorpgs do things. I can only guess why people rebrand old things in favour of coming up with, or carrying over, new things.

What if thief traps handle like a package.

in Thief

Posted by: Redfeather.6401

I think they are fine as they are. If you want to place a trap, you can. If you want an enemy to trigger a trap asap you just activate the trap and immediately use steal to shadowstep while prepping it, then it’ll lay it right on top of them.

Only thing I still don’t like is the shape of thief traps. Even guardians seem better at laying traps over thieves. wtf is that about. XD

After playing WoW for several years, that’s not something I thought I would ever hear from an MMO company – admitting they made mistakes.

Been hearing it since Southsun Cove was released. :/

I played several mmorpgs for years before GW and what I loved about GW is did things in a clever way that actually really worked well. That’s really what disappointed me the most about GW2. GW2 opted to copy not only the framework of every other mmorpg, but abandon so many mechanics in the original game that were never broken. Felt like it was merely using the GW brand to create the “same old mmo” experience.

Attribute system – Wasn’t broken, so why change it for something that’s been done to death. The system most mmorpgs use is mind mindbogglingly convoluted and short-sighted and GW2 copied them? Doesn’t make sense.
Equipment system – Wasn’t broken either, and once again it just made no sense to copy how other mmorpgs do it. Other mmorpgs are either just copying what’s already been done or failing miserably at trying to come up with something else that works. And GW found a system that actually worked and was refreshing! Why change it?!
Morale system – Why not use that in the sequel? What was wrong with it?
Secondary Profession – So it was supposedly abandoned because it was hard to balance, yet GW2 is even more imbalanced. That doesn’t add up!
Capping skills – Nobody complained about it, and it was so unique. I just don’t understand.
etc, etc, etc
Whyyyyyyyy?!

There’s a reason why. Because Guild Wars 1 was NOT an MMO. Even Anet said it wasn’t an MMO. And when Guild Wars 2 was conceived, it was conceived as an MMO.

Things that work in a lobby game don’t necessarily work in an MMO.

Comparing a non-MMO to an MMO is doable. I just don’t see the point of doing it.

GW2 uses the technology different than GW, but that doesn’t impact a single example in my post.

I miss how easy it was to make builds, and that the content challenged me to make new builds to tackle different areas. The attribute/equipment system was so streamlined it made build making super accessible.

Really, I have no idea why the attribute/equipment system was so radically changed between the first game and the second. Only thing I can think of was because other mmorpg put stats on armor, and use tons of stats to influence skills.

He gets his breakbar after he flies up, then you have to pick up a wyvern egg from somewhere under the platform and throw it on him to break the bar, then you can fight him again.

Ah, I thought you can stop him from flying off to begin with. Though then why were people shouting to use CC on him?

Maybe it’s been changed! I haven’t done wyvern in a while and last i remembered you could stop it from flying by whacking it with CC at the right time. It was tricky because the window of opportunity was small. Perhaps it was changed because if the group failed it was just death from above for the next 20 seconds.

Could make Body Shot and Head Shot apply an effect called “Assassin’s Mark” and then Unload gets a bonus effect against a marked target. Then throw the old ricochet trait unto Unload against marked targets.

Or…
Body shot applies a mark that causes successive projectile attacks to apply vulnerability.
Head shot applies a mark that causes successive projectile attacks to apply confusion.

I don’t know. Just thinking of stuff that would benefit p/p without messing with d/p and p/d.

Holy cow, how did you get so many? I only have 1, and I use them almost as fast as I get them.

My random idea for end game gear progression

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Redfeather.6401

Redfeather.6401

I love how Blade and Soul does gear progression.

Costumes at higher levels offer faction allegiances. Makes NPCs either friendly or hostile to you and allows you to fight player characters wearing an opposing faction costume. There are many factions, so many costumes.

Weapons evolve by feeding them other weapons. Once you max a weapon, it requires being fed a specific leveled weapon in order to evolve. Upgrading it’s appearance.

These things are pretty time consuming depending on how much you want to explore them, and there’s always that excitement of what will come next.
