It would useful to see what skins characters are using.
Can’t count how many times I asked what skin is that, only to be met with a stone cold stare, an awkward pause, and the character just running away.
Maybe they were from another country and didn’t understand what I said.
Maybe they were an advanced AI sent back from the future, and they couldn’t risk changing my fate.
Or maybe I am insane and they were never there to begin with.I think you are making that up. EVERY person i have ever asked what skin, was really cool about it.
There was time when someone walked into the TP area with a ghetto blaster, and when I asked about it they were more than happy to tell me about it and show off it’s groovy tunes. A golden moment that was.

Yeah, I stopped going there altogether. It was fun for a time because it was new. But then all the things I hated took the spotlight over it’s ‘newness’ and I put it on ignore.
In the original GW game, many popular builds involved mix/match choices to take advantage of such synergies. That made that game, by dev admission, problematic to balance.
And yet, loads more fun for the players.
My main is an ele and, for me, an ele needs to use a staff. I can’t get very excited about an ele with a war horn so I end up with the same ol’, same ol’ skills.
Careful about talking about what’s more fun for “the players”. I loved the build system in Guild Wars 1, but over the years I met many players frustrated by it. People who didn’t enjoy builds, and just wanted to load up and play a game. Some of my friends didn’t get into Guild Wars 1 particularly because of the complexity of the build system.
Others went to PVX wiki to get a build. Many people used to ask for builds in map chat rather than try to think of one for themselves. Surely you remember people asking anyone got a build for a ranger?
Then there were people like me who wanted to use our own builds who tried to pug underworld or DOA and couldn’t get into groups because we weren’t using I-way or we weren’t using sabway or we didn’t have a rank 8 ursan.
There were certainly advantages to the build system in Guild Wars 1 for some players, but I wouldn’t assume the build system was universally adored.
Thanks for taking off my rose tinted glasses. Now that you mention those things, I did in fact start to remember it all. I loved GW1 build making, but I do now remember all the examples of people who loved playing the game, but hated build making.
I think that would be amazing.
But I know it’ll be a big project and take time to do, so I can’t count on it.
More anecdote:
Last night, I was fighting a White Mantle Mesmer with a stranger. She was fairly high on damage and the first to engage, closer than me. Mesmer still decided I was the one that needed to get hit. :\ Not offended at the damage itself (easily survivable), but I mean, c’mon, the ranger was right there.
I’ve a sneaking suspicion that the particular enemy targets the farthest enemy to make use of its Spatial Surge-esque attack.
In Bloodstone Fen I encountered that often. When fighting in a group, spatial surge was used on my character and I was the farthest away.
It’s vague because they can customize aggro based on each enemy type. I’ve seen “smarter” critters break off to go after downed or healers. Some simply focus on DPS, others toughness. It makes sense in a game with no pure tanks and few methods of taunt.
Yeah, I know at least one Legendary Bandit Executioner will almost always prioritize downed opponents. I like that he did as it made the fight feel pretty intense.
Oh, legendary gifts would be cool too.
Dang, I remember getting that hat. I have no idea what happened to it either.
This suggestion is probably too much work, but I figure I’d make it anyway.
You know how we have a wardrobe option for finishers, that have a number of uses shown if they are limited and don’t have a number if they are infinite?
I think it would be a huge QoL improvement if tonics had a wardrobe tab that did that. I know it is a lot of work, but maybe someday…
Gave me a good chuckle. Thank you for sharing. I hope they had fun doing it and make another.
I used mallyx, but I wasn’t good at figuring out the best way to use it.
What I mostly did was use Unyielding Anguish to hope from target to target. I’d also activate Embrace the Darkness as it increased my crit chance and crit damage.
The name and theme were just a way to help reference the mechanic. I wanted to share the idea of that mechanic for a discussion on things that could be done with it.
Thanks for understanding TwiceDead! The topic didn’t go so well, but I got to share what I thought was a fun idea.
Not a day goes by where I don’t wish for a spiritual successor to guild wars.
I think Scout Acan should get a pile of birthday gifts added around him.

Also, just to get people thinking about effects the containers could do… one type of container could grant alacrity.
Attachments:
Just a quick share about an elite spec idea, focused on the unique mechanic.
It has access to a rifle and alchemical skills. Would also work well with pistol mainhand/offhand and shortbow.
The alchemy skills are little containers that are thrown using ground targeting. Similar to how engineer could throw elixirs. These containers slowly mix two chemicals and it becomes unstable once thrown. The containers will explode in time on their own, or can manually be exploded by being struck by the players, their allies or even enemies.
Two effects can be created by a thrown container. One effect is ‘primed’ but waiting for an explosion to happen. This effect builds in potency over time until the container is broken. The second effect seeps out of the container once thrown, becoming active immediately, but it weakens over time. There is a ‘sweet spot’ in the timing of when to break a container in which both effects are given a useful boost.
Of course the effects can be anything you can think of. They can damage, impede, aid allies. Anything you can think of.
Long range skills are very valuable to help break containers while being on the move around the battlefield, but are not entirely necessary. You can use shadowstepping and stealth as well to safely break containers.
Lastly here’s where it gets a little crazy. You can use Steal on containers. This allows you to shadowstep with steal by using a container as the target. Your stolen item will become the container which you can throw again, or you can let it sit in your stolen items slot. While in your stolen items slot you emit the ‘seeping’ container effect. Becoming a mobile version of the container.
That’s it! Hope it sounds cool, as I am having fun just thinking about it.

I had fun brainstorming an elite spec that used rifle and chemicals too!
Maybe I should post it and see what people think. I’m going to call it Saboteur, just so it can be found in the topic list. I’m excited about sharing it because of its mechanics.
Would be nice to know why the restriction exists. I haven’t been able to figure it out on my own.
I wish we had a tonic closet, similar to the finishers one.
Add a tonic to the closet and it’ll show how many uses, just like limited finishers.
As for minis. I despise how much of the game is relying on ridiculous amounts of farming to acquire one in a thousand pet options. It’s insulting if that is designed to ‘retain’ players.
I logged in just to respond too, Bilaal.
This sounds pretty awesome as I’ve never done the labyrinth before. Maybe I will join the other players and use my owl tonic, and sing “Magic Dance” while everyone is fighting all the baddies.
It should never have been fixed. An army of elementalists is supposed to burn everything to ash.
I have one of each profession, and you started with the best… the Daredevil. It’s all downhill from there.
Might as well make one of the worst classes now. I suggest ranger. And before anyone goes boooooooooo… I play a ranger. Rarely.
It’s all so very exciting.
well looks like Rev didn’t get any damage buffs, according to the patch notes?
They didn’t.
Time to delete Revenant, can’t do half of what the guardian does right anymore.
Ironic how now Sword Mesmer seems to deal more damage than Revenant could ever wish.
This would actually be the second time I’ve deleted it. It just isn’t as fun as my other characters, but somehow I managed to make a fun non-glint build that was hilariously affected negatively in 3 ways by this patch. XD
Thing I loved about Dancing Daggers is how it interacts with dark fields. I really hope this change stays.
Mhh greatsword is still terrible in pvp but maybe axe is finally useable.
I been using axe on my power necro because it really helped push decimate defenses and axe builds up lifeforce like a dynamo. So next time I get a chance I’m going to see how much this patch boosted his offense.
The Glyph of Elemental Power and Signet of Fire are… interesting.
That did make my eyes light up. lol
As I said earlier, I haven’t played my tempest in a very long time, and been dying to try a viper’s build. This patch is just begging for it now.
Balance patch is next week i believe.
It just came, with many, many nerfs to overall Revenant and well… the damage increase they would add is no where to be seen on the changelog. Gonna delete Revenant right now, can’t believe my Guardian is more of a DPS class now.
I had a feeling the announcement last week was worded in a way that could mean mesmers get the dps increase, not revenant. So when I read the patch notes, I just thought ‘yep, oh well’.
I’m not really sad though. I’m just sighing. Have to change my build because it was a non-glint power rev using naturalistic resonance and retribution’s stability on dodge. I used rune of evasion and retribution traits to get a dodge to synergize with Elder’s Force for bursts. Ohhhhhhhh well.

Do you guys think this will make a viper’s tempest worth it?
I haven’t played my tempest in ages, and been slowly acquiring viper’s armour.
I’m happy about the blurred frenzy. Mostly played power GS, and rarely pulled out my swords unless I went on defensive.
I have one of each profession and I’m somewhat happy. One of them is a power necro who uses axes. So I get to play around with him again. Thank you.
Yeah, it’s what happens when you get close to driftwood when you’ve already collected a piece that day.
It drove me nuts trying to figure out what the gunshots were about, and nobody in map chat knew. Wasn’t until I read on reddit about the driftwood being limited to once per day that I realized it was connected.
I don’t quite understand how no one has mentioned this yet, but neither Jalis or Ventari were humans. They are a Dwarf and Centaur respectively. Mallyx is a Demon, Glint is a Dragon. Only Shiro is Human.
As far as options, I wouldn’t mind seeing:
- Master Togo
- Pyre Fierceshot
- Jora or Asgeir Dragonrender (the guy who punched Jormag’s Tooth out)
- Vekk or Snaff
- Riannoc or Trahearne
We’ve got Primordus and Jormag as the main two targets, and Kralkatorrik as an extension of Aurene. The list above is organised as a mix of what I would like and what it likely because of the happenings in LS3. Togo because of the Ritualist, Pyre because of missing niche, Norn because of Jormag, Asura because of Primordus, and Sylvari because w/e.
Snaff? Snaff?!
Yes, that would actually be very interesting.
How come your screenshot is showing the tooltip for the one at the tengu wall.
Hey, what about the Mad King Thorn. lol
His Elite could be a stance shift that changes the healing and utility skills.
Switching between a Giddy stance and a Grim stance. Each having a cooldown.
Could have a couple of traits that auto swap stances, bypassing the cooldown, when certain conditions are met.
I think the voice acting for that would be fun to do, and hilarious. Kind of like how batman’s Joker switches between jovial and dead serious when talking.

There was a good suggestion/guess that the next legend might as well be Scarlet Briar as there is high possibility that Anet may give rifle to some other class.
I would literally delete my Revenant and pretend the class no longer exists if that were to happen. That character needs to be forgotten by everyone.
Now let’s talk about Trahearne. He could use shouts and have all his most annoying sayings. Elite Shout would be “This won’t end well!”
Your post me realize the answer has to be Tybalt. It just clicked. Now I know for a fact the next legend will be Tybalt and it’s pointless to wish otherwise.
I could live with that. Forgal could deserve some consideration. >.>
And I could definitely live with that. Forgal’s voice is amazing.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, Dhuum would be cool.
It’s probably going to be Turai Ossa.
If we’re going to Elona, it’s got to be Turai.
It probably will be, and it makes me sad. Turai is such a generic hero. Even his skills in GW1 were dull.
I didn’t play GW1 but it looks like Turai Ossa uses a sword and shield, which Rev already has. In this case, what new weapon would Rev get?
They’d get no new weapons and their legend skills would be shouts to provide boons, and generic warrior skills. That’s how boring Turai is!
I think we need 4 extra sigil slots on our weaponsets.
Or 6 extra rune slots on our trinkets. Or both xD
Just for the stinky sigils and runes. The extra slots would say “you can ONLY slot stinky sigils and runes here”. lol
Yes it is bad.
One time I was drinking milk, and looking up runes on the wiki. I came across Rune of the Golemancer and read, in detail, the wiki page. It made me choke up my milk and pass out.
I’m lying about that scenario. But yes, many kittenty runes/sigils still in the game.
What Anet need to do is look at how boon spreading (and condition spreading!), can be used to create compounding effects, and think of a clever way to curb it without destroying it. Because it is interesting and I don’t want it to go completely.
(edited by Redfeather.6401)
Yeah, the herald profession mechanic really should change. Especially since it’s going to be nerfed soon because someone thought ‘adding an elite that revolves around boon sharing is cool, what could possibly go wrong!’.
It’s probably going to be Turai Ossa.

I really love those ideas Lonami!
I kind of laughed when I saw Smiter’s Boon being mentioned in this topic. I hope it doesn’t come to that. :o
The jalis Hammer disappear an the skill breaks when the Hammers Hit an object like a tree or wall
That explains it! I have noticed more than once that it just stopped. Because I was in the middle of a fight I didn’t have much time to figure out why.

If you don’t have advanced gliding you cannot finish without the help of a mesmer so keep that in mind. The glides can go around every fire spout that I have seen, just angle a bit and then circle back, they spawn at fixed sites. If you do find a willing mesmer have then help you to each check-point and then you will be able to get the chest and title at the final spot.
I have not done that jumping puzzle, but I hope if it requires advanced gliding that the initial part of the puzzle is gated by a glide that requires it. Tricks of the trade and all that.
