The creator did mention he thought only 5% of players would finish it, it’s meant to be hard and shouldn’t be made easier.

Over 5% have already beaten it, It’s possible so keep trying or give up.

Once you have done it – it gets SO MUCH EASIER

Also for pets I use 2 ravens in PvE and WvW – reason is they are small, harder for the enemy to track and kill. They also have high damage and when traited have even more crit chance. With the very useful blind for sticky situations.

For sPvP I use Wolf and Stalker fear and might stack come into have alot of use.

Reason I don’t use Wolf in WvW anymore is it’s too open, Rangers will know that the F2 skill is still having trouble – in sPvP it’s more closer quater combat so I fidn the skill lag doesn’t play a huge negative effect

I recently changed to a condition trap build that focus’s on being mobile and using 2 traps and Sword with a condition offhand. I use Long Bow for zergs and if I have some time before my taget reached me (don’t chase if you don’t have to)

I’m still in negotiation for a 3rd Utility skill, I decided not to run 3 traps. I’m using the Rampage as 1 Elite and have Heal as One which heals me for 8k.

And I can honestly say I have never had so much fun with a ranger, I can outlast many classes in a 1v1 by just moving alot and healing.

So yes, It’s viable and works.

Also for Pets, PvE/WvW I use the 2 Ravens. Reason for this is they are dealing alot of damage and high crit rate, they give the occasion blind which helps and more importantly they are small. Enemy players look for the big pet, wolf bear etc and it’s harder to spot and keep track of a smaller bird. Something I learned from the Asuran.

For sPvP I run Wolf and Stalker – fear to help allies and myself and Might stack helps alot.

I can’t spot any issues that where solved, addressed or even looked at for this patch. “Big balance” turned out to be a big mess, I’m tired of waiting so long so simple fixes for example, I’ve waited over a year for some Ranger’s pets F2 Skill to be fixed. Waited over a year for Rangers to be given back their skill and range, the class is almost an empty shell.
Also it isn’t just Rangers, plenty of the classes need a REAL balance.

Thing is Anet said even from the very begining they didn’t want people restricted in their choice of race/profession, due to something like efficiency. Thats why there is no real difference on races aside from the visuals and lore.

If they made asura warriors just a little more squishy than norn and charr, it would seriously affect those having or wanting an asura warrior, given that a 0.0000000000000001% is enough to make people scream inefficient and never allow it on their teams in dungeons or such.

Sadly even the smallest difference could have a huge effect. Actually already met some that said a norn ranger would be better than a sylvari ranger (or any other ranger) because of racial skills, even if they did admit that racial skills are weaker than profession skills.

So even though I can see the idea in making the races feel more different, I would fear the effect such would have on the community and on the chosen race/profession combinations.

Know before I start, I’m not racist or Guild Wars 2 racist for all you Charr sitting on Human ruins, anyway.

I feel there needs to be some changes for the race skills mainly, before playing Guild Wars 2 I played alot of 1 – and I thought, wow when I play 2 I cant wait to be a Norn and turn into bear or wolf to aid me. These skills are rubbish! In fact most of the other races skills are worthless! In addition I think each class needs benefits! An asuran warrior would be more squishy than a Norn lets face it! Heres some ideas for both skills and traits.

Charr: Permanent speed boost – they run on 4 LEGS seriously they should be faster.

Norn: Small boost in toughness? Elite racials need to be buffed!!!!

Sylvari: Small perma regen since they are plants?

Asura: These little guys n girl I think should have something like, increased health or faster regen in endurance. For their skills, EVERY asuran who wants a golem should ALWAYS have that golem, like the rangers pet it should always be there until its killed. What stops me playing an asuran is the golem elite

Human: The “dying” race of Tyria, strong, persistent and loyal. not familiar with the race skills but I bet they could do with a boost like the ones involving the gods.

Anyway these are just ideas and I’m sure there is alot of input on the matter, I’m no game designer but I play alot – gamers are the best people to spot good and fun changes usually, speak up!!

While it can take a while for the Anet team to work this kind of stuff out, rest assured they are amazing and WILL get it done

I love the story and lore of Guild Wars as muh as I love my family (sad I know)

My point is, and I have already mentioned this to devs in game

GW2 NEEDS more referance, history and relation to GW1

1 dev even said that GW2 is a “new Game” and I can understand that yes it mechanics and gameplay are completely different, but Ignoring the wants of GW1 players, the history and the beautiful story line is like Anet pushing aside their loyal GW1 players to attract new gamers.
If anet is worried that new gamers will not uderstand the story becasue they didn’t play GW1 THEN TEACH THEM – It’s simple to incorperate the lore from one game to anotherand it’s sad that they have hardly attempted.
It’s unfair, unjust. GW1 has been forgetten about.

This is the correct answer.

I fail to see how a skilled guardian who can charge into a full mob and come out fine isn’t broken. They heal too much and have too many roles in the game, I think they need more of a fix than thieves do. (Love it how people complain that thieves are OP when in fact they are an assassin class, they are meant to be able to come out of no-where a screw you over.)

This is awefully similar to the WoW Monk, not for this idea but definetly up for new classes or even bring back some oldies.

“factions equal” expanion is released that opens Cantha be could add

“Night fall equal” expansion opens Elona, add;

Suggestion: More events, Make events a bit harder and give them a large reset time.

What is the fun in the same thing happening over and over?
/kill a champion, same champion spawns 10 min later.
/Collapse a cave of skritt, skirtt re-attack village with reset cave 5 mins later.

Events should be spontanious, whats the point in a “Living World” when realisticly you shouldn’t be able to sit in a village and say centaur will attack here in 3, 2, 1 because the timer said so?

Events need alot of thought because they are just plain boring now.

I’ve played the ranger class as my main in every game I could.
From GW1 > GW2, Anet changed the way the ranger functions almost completely.

Rangers are still a good class but players are trying to play as if they are the same as they were in GW1, which they are not.

Main aspects – Anet made it so that you CANNOT ignore your pet, like it or not, one of the reasons for playing a ranger IS the pet. Yes the pets F2 skill can sometimes lack response but it doesnt defeat the fact that they are a good resource and source of dps.

They made the ranger less of a power house than they were in GW1 and turned them into what they should be; A SURVIOUR. Decent armor, Crazy heal speed, condition removal, supporting and crowd control along with interupts.

In GW1 a skilled ranger could down pretty much anything, broadhead arrow to shut down any caster, speed and intellect to kill melee.

In GW2 they are the annoying, time consuming enemy that you should be thinking omg die or omg stay still.

Alot of players are still working out how the ranger handles in GW2 because It has become a complicated class that actually needs skill to play. Also everyone playstyle is different so some skills work for you some don’t.

Example my ranger hits for 1,000-3,000 my pets hit for 2,000-3,000. My vitality is low, high toughness and I heal at about a rate of 900 p/s.

To conclude – Ranger IS a good class, YES it does need work but name a class that doesn’t.

As the title suggests, this is a basic question.
I have played the game since launch and have never had a n interest is craft, just like other games. Probably because I don’t fully understand the need or pros of actually taking time to do them.

With the announcement of the ascended weapons/armor and the want to get a legendary, I am seeking information on the aspects of crafting.
My questions (but not limited to) are;

1) What is the importance of crafting?
2) What are the basic? Like what do I need to know, explain discovery/refine etc.
3) How do I know what tier a material is in my bank.
4) Is crafting actually useful?

Sorry for the basic question but I really haven’t understood the comcept.

EVERY class has its advantages in ALL situation, learn your class well and your an asset on the battlefield, I would happily draw my bow beside a Necro to support the team.

80% of the time I have the on “stay” I use them for the switch quickness trait.

Was reading the blog and now they wish to make you pay for a server transfer?? Why..only a excuse to get more money from the player base, whats next a subscription to post on the forums..this game has quickly turned into a Much more costly game than when it was pre-purchased.

They always planned to do this, GW will never have a subscription fee therefore they have to make money in other ways. Thing is its your CHOICE to server change, and making it harder to do so, by including a cost fee, means it will balance the servers out in population and WvW. Instead, as already mention, people going to tier 1 servers because they are sore losers. Losing is apart of learning to win.

The player is required to pay nothing more than the game its all players CHOICE to get the server change or gem store, which I might mention everything in the Gem store can be gained using INGAME GOLD.

I don’t agree with this as I have done some major damage in WvW and even came on top rating during sPvP.

It’s an amazing weapon choice in my opinion, if you know how to use one.

I play ranger main, the warrior longbow easily tops the damage dealt. Just lacks speed in which to deal it, it’s more burst dmg.

For us, it’s only been a few years. But for the characters in GW2, it’s been 250 years. Human history is filled with examples of former (sometimes bitter) enemies who are now fast friends. The US and UK, UK and France, the US and Japan, Germany and just about everyone else in Europe etc. And most of those conflicts are less than a century old!

Both norns and charr are a little too big compared to the other races imo.

Humans destory all things, as evident IRL, Charr as already stated had a big “bad guy” lore in GW1.
The Norn are big thats just there race, just as the Asuran are small.

The Blue whale is the biggest living thing on the plant, yet human still pose a huge threat it it.

Tengu due to them already having a large history and detailed lore from GW1.

I think Kodan is very unlikely due to the lack of the history and lore, and forgive me but the fail to interest me whatsoever.

Palawa Jokos undead a possibility but I feel that they will be the main “enemy” story due to the many referances already made in game.

Elonian Centaur seems to be most likely to me for Elona, they aren’t the horrid centaurs raging through Queensdale, they are more peaceful….Zhedd <3

I have mixed opinions, my gut feeling after spending years in PreSearing killing Charr, and seeing what they did to Gwen etc. They where monsters anduncivilised in GW1 up until EoTN.
There more of there lore was unraveled, we saw cubs, Charr females and a genuine life they led.
I feel sorry for the ghosts but they are stuck in a paradox. As I recall in GW2 “Plains of Ashford”
There is a particular event when 2 ghosts spawn and repeat the words from the first mission of GW1.
“We found Bonfaaz Burntfur and the Charr army, sir, in a valley to the north.”
“But I’m afraid we were spotted. They come for the Wall as we speak!”

Dunno about you guys, but this sent shiver down my spine, such a thrill and pure adrenaline.

Summary, yes I feel sorry, and I feel sorry for the Charr too, but I will continue to hate the flame legion as it is them that started all of this.

I rolled a Warrior and found that my love for archery took over.

I found longbow warrior VERY effective in all – PvE + sPvP + WvW

I specially destroyed in sPvP

Would people get….frustrated that I’m not up front tanking in dungeouns etc?

But Charr are the enemy Or were. I was a pretty dedicated perma pre GW1 player and they had done so much damage to the human race, Ascalon and to people like gwen.
They were monsters and uncivilised and all of a sudden, mostly friendly, allies and friends to other races.

I don’t have a Charr, I want to bring myself to play one, mainly because of Pyre. But there will always be part of me that hates, yes hates, the Charr past and the current Flame Legion. My humans sword is stained with the blood of many Charr.

My gut feeling is that they will stick to a GW1 similar sequence.
Next will be an expansion for Cantha +New race (I REALLY hope Tengu, tengu thief FTW)
Then Elona.

But It’s also been suggested that Elona will come first since it’s connected with the land of Tyria and the situation is constatly mentioned in GW2 about the trade route.
