Yeah well, it’s same 30-40 player farming everyone else who just joins for the daily. I predict the end of tPvP very soon. But yeah, hope is good, but with Anet attitude and skill, I doubt that anything good will happen.
Having HA would be just amazing, probably the best thing they could do (if they wanted), and it would save PvP from dying. It’s a huge difference in matchup times these days and 1-2 months ago. More and more people are giving up, or they go do their 3 games for daily and they’re gone.
It’s funny if you compare the 2 games. GW 1 had such an advanced PvP with good variety and everything while GW2, which they said could be an esport (I lol at that) has like nothing. People will get bored within months. It will die.
Also, on topic: of course you should be allowed to show ranks anywhere at any time, just like in GW 1. At least then it’s good for something, at least it’s something to showoff, a reward that you earned, whether it was skill or grind it doesn’t matter. We should have an option to show our emote anywhere.
gw2lfg.com works perfectly
Also, it would help if you try to find a group during more busy hours rather than when all the yanks are asleep.
Also, start your own team (I hope you’re doing that already) don’t wait for others to do it for you.
I never had any problem finding/making a group for any of my levels. Maybe I just try harder?
Anyway.. what to do now: one person says it’s impossible to find a group and other person says it’s easy :o I would like to see more opinions on this one.
Devs be more communicative, give us your opinions, don’t be like boring devs from other MMO games!
Actually, skipping mobs is just playing smart, just like pulling them. It IS playing as intended. Maybe you should go Arah and kill every single mobs? Good luck with that.
I approve of anything that kills the farming. Players grinding the same boss over and over again shouldn’t be awarded.
Well, I got exotic light gloves on my ranger from the Maw chest in fractals. So.. yeah that doesn’t make much sense. I guess salvaging and giving it to zommy works, though there isn’t much benefit from putting armor in zommy forge.
Each team has the right to decide what kind of people they want. If they want people with certain gear who are you to blame them for that? You could always try making your own team without any requirements.
Also, you need at least 5 agony resistance at level 20+ or agony instantly kills you (also, it can’t always be dodged). 10 is preferable so you don’t have any problems at all.
Could you please write me a list of how it’s supposed to be played? Excuse me for not being a mind reader. I want to understand more, please could you be more detailed and tell me where exactly I can find out how the game should be played?
Are you saying I should stand on exact spot where you want me to stand to kill a certain mob? (shatterer in your example) Maybe Anet could have blue circles all over the game to tell us exactly where we should stand to kill certain enemies? You could try suggesting them that, because I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say with “play the game how it’s supposed to be played”. You should give us more details.
You ever been to explorables? You ever pull the spider queen from her room? Ranged the tree boss? Pull kholer single? Stacked on SA? Those have been here since BWE on. Those were never fixed and neither were the mass amount of bugs in exp – so suck it up.
Actually.. they’re not bugs. The technique is called “pulling”. Used a lot in MMO games.
@op
I actually always kill the bats as it only takes few seconds, and I tell my team that I’m killing them for certain drops. I never had anyone complaining about it.
About dredge and similar skips: get to level 20+ even 30+ grinding is too BORING and REPETITIVE, you really can’t blame people for skipping the content that is too flawed. Also, they don’t have any real advantage from it than saving FEW minutes of their time.
Every person who is using exploits to beat dungeons are just bad players. I am sitting at 19 and have never exploited a single time. Know why? Because I take enjoyment out of knowing I actually earned my dungeon master title the right way. I take enjoyment knowing that loot isnt the main focus of my playtime. I take enjoyment knowing that while others are exploiting a boss or area, i and my group are good enough to beat it right. We are good players.
People who think its ok to exploit the fractals or any dungeons are just like the PvPers who think exploits are a good thing when killing other people. There is no difference. Your an exploiter and you deserve to be banned.
Actually.. NO
“Exploiting” has nothing to do with player skills. Also there are different categories of exploiting. The one we’re talking about here in fractals is simply skipping some smaller parts of the dungeons to make endless level grind less boring and repetitive. Also, time is very important as reconnecting is not available. I don’t think it can even be called exploiting, as it doesn’t harm anyone in any way, it actually doesn’t give any advantage over the other players, as the “exploits” are minimum.
The bad type of exploit would be duping items (I saw someone pinging a stack of coagulated essence few days ago) or anything similar that would give you the advantage over the other players.
Back to your post, I saw many good players “exploiting” these fractals bugs. And you know why they do it? Because they’re good, because they’re elite and they don’t want to put with the same pile of —-- that takes way too much time. But they do want to advance and get to hard levels (19 is just a silly level, you don’t even need an infusion to get there). Of course there are unskilled players who will “exploit” but point is: not being able to read Anet’s mind and know their rules has nothing to do with the player skills.
I personally wouldn’t mind skipping a really annoying group of mobs if I repeated it over 50 times, because I know I would be able to do it proper way, as I did it tons of times already. It just takes too much time, it’s pointless grinding. However, I would mind getting any advantage from doing similar things, I wouldn’t go get any extra items or gold or ranks or anything, I just want things to be fair
If players would get rewarded better from actually playing it properly rather than using exploits than they wouldn’t exploit at all. It’s impossible to fix every single bug, at least for Anet, but they don’t realize they don’t have to. It’s all about getting the players to have a different mindset, and I really hope that they’ll figure that out one day.
I have a brilliant way of stopping some of the exploits (skipping parts, bosses):
Simply increase boss rare item drop rate or something. If people do skip them it’s because they think it’s not worth killing them, that it’s a waste of time. And after grinding 40 fractal levels it does make sense. Just improve the drop rate and announce it so they can see it = problem solved.
For example: grawl fractal, there are few vampire bats that people usually skip, but I don’t do that. Why? Because it only takes me a little bit more time and I have a chance for quite a decent drops, which I usually do get from them.
Dredge and colossus ones are quite big, and those exploits should be removed. BUT first fix reconnecting issue, it’s more important.
Anyway: dredge backdoor thing is obviously an exploit, but what about the colossus first boss? I mean if you’re standing on a rock (which can be climbed by the boss) and you just hit him, is that just considered being smart or is it an exploit? It’s quite a thin line on that one.
Of course we need it, but adding pink items is priority, as if we don’t have enough different colours already
But seriously, Anet people, having LFG interface will help us A LOT. And it will keep people longer on your game, as they won’t be frustrated by not being able to find teams.
I think there should be some variety like there is now. Arah for example takes way longer, but that’s fine because rewards are better. Again length usually depends on how good the team is. For example, some teams will clear CoE in lets say 30 min while others will clear it in an hour or more. It all depends. But I do believe they definitely shouldn’t make any longer than they already are.
Finished hints achievement today, got the last 2 ones: One for the engineer and healing slots, I finished it and then deleted that toon and then I made a warrior and finished adrenaline hint which was the last one needed. I deleted that warrior as well while he was still in tutorial area. I made a new one.
On that screen you can see that all hints are done but the achievement says its 81/83 and not completed.
I restarted GW, pc, switched between the different toons and all that…
The entire team is not needed, as you see there are 3 pieces to be runned. Other player’s role is activate traps for runners,s o they can complete the task easily and fast. No exploit , particular skills or cheat needed. Just a matter of teamwork
Correct, you don’t even need all 5, you can do it with 3 runners alone, while you have other 2 people going for the achievement. If runners know what they’re doing they’ll do it easily, from the first try.
You can also keep resetting wisps until you get them in good position.
The best dungeon so far, it’s not as repetitive as others, there is enough variety and challenge to keep me going and go for the highest level possible. Swamp fractal literally takes minutes. Just learn to run the wisps, it’s so easy.
Definitely the easiest and the shortest one. We did it 3 times the other day and 2 times we got the wisps in from the first try, and one time it was from 2nd try. I really don’t see any problems with it. Just learn to run…
Also, those were all pug teams.
I think this system is extremely good. It’s good to separate “newbies” and more “elite” players. So everyone could play with people with similar skills as they have. Also, I never have any problems finding random pugs for any level, it takes minutes. Maybe your server is not very active at the times you’re trying to do your dungeons? There is also an website that servers as a “LFG tool” which allows you to find people on different servers easily.
If they did complain about your armor it means you kept dying. If you kept dying it means your armor wasn’t good enough. If your armor wasn’t good enough it means you needed better one. If you needed better armor it means their complaints were legit.
CoE and CoF are WAY more annoying to open, as there are no people doing those events besides the ones who are up for doing that dungeon at that time. There are ALWAYS people farming Arah events. So you should be happy, you’ll get nice drops from the events, possible precursor from the chest and then enter the dungeon and get your tokens.
Bugs are always the problem, but they will be fixed eventually.
FotM will stay popular for a while people are still making progress, but once everyone gets stuck at certain level and gets their pink items this dungeon will be forgotten.
It would kill other rings, no one would buy orichalchum ones anymore = bad idea.
They want you to buy canister in gem store obviously more $$ for them.
Anyway, challenge here is: don’t die too much, and that is also one thing that makes it more interesting. At higher level you actually need to have 5 SKILLED players and work together as a team in order to stay alive and succeed.
Having no repair available is a great idea.
It only takes me few minutes to get a group full. It could be a problem with your server. Also, different levels are a good idea as there’s constant challenge and advancing, also only the elite and skilled players will get to extremely higher level and those runs will actually be fun.
Make them happen during one day, every 6 hours or so, which would be 4 times. Make end chest available only once for each account.
It definitely wasn’t funny when I saw that only time the event was up for me was at 4:20am.
Anet people: you should listen to me, your game would be better.
All you need to unlock level 2 difficulty is beat 3 of those stories in a row. With extremely bad team it will take you what? 2 hours at most. And it’s way harder to find people for lower level than higher levels of the dungeon. Your whining is pointless. Maybe there is a problem with your server and its inactivity? Also, you don’t need a guild, it’s pointless. Pugs are usually better anyway, especially at higher levels, because they tried hard to get there and they got experience and skill doing it.
Stop crying and make your own lvl 1 team and you’ll unlock lvl 2 and then higher levels in no time.
They would need to halve the number of servers to save the game, but oh well.. I guess they’ll wait until it’s too late. My server is definitely more dead than it used to be, but then again, there are more bots (at least 50 in Cursed Shore 24/7) so I guess numbers don’t show the drop in population number, and that’s confusing the brilliant minds of Anet.
Anyway, first few weeks all areas were so overcrowded and there were tons of people, and these days it takes an hour to get a simple dungeon team together. Oh well, I hope good updates are incoming
As title says: for how long will names from GW 1 be reserved? All good names are reserved but characters with those names don’t exist
/end whine
Seriously, I thought they were supposed to be reserved for first week or something.
Format is more than flawed. Servers with more active WvW players will always dominate the one with less active players. It’s just a fact, so these kind of scores will keep happening all the time. Maybe they should improve the matchmaking system.
@Josh
Clock tower was something that definitely improves the quality of this game. Unlike the personal story quests when after finishing them I was like: “meh, it’s done, I got rid of it finally, now I can have fun”, with clock tower I actually had that feeling of accomplishment, and I wanted more. Even though Guild Wars is one game, it in itself has many different game: for example: dungeons, or jumping puzzles, those could all be considered as mini games. And I can say Clock tower was the only thing that gave me feeling similar to one after finishing Limbo (you should know about that game), when I just wanted more and more. Those things are what makes the games better than the others, it’s what makes the game unique and special. There are hundreds of other games with dungeons, quests, grinding, trade posts whatever, but there isn’t any game with clock tower, and that’s what makes it good.
Also, griffonrook is also a similar puzzle, if it had same rewards as clock tower and was only on holiday I would’ve also kept doing it, as it’s kitten fun, people should try it if they liked clock tower
Last thing is: don’t keep these sort of challenges throughout the whole year, just put them on the event times, else they’ll kinda lose the meaning.
@Josh
I believe that this puzzle was perfect in every way. It was there, achievement just like any other JP, it didn’t give any titles but it did give the achievement. I think it’s good to make some challenging things that only a players who have certain skills can do it. Do not ever make the game too easy, it just gets boring, we do need challenge. I got good at clock tower because I spent hours on it, and I ended up completing it every single run, without being close to failing, but I did invest quite some effort in getting that skill, and I don’t regret it at all, it was kitten fun.
But again, I had no way of getting all the carving pumpkins simply because that’s not what I do, I don’t go around and farm, and I don’t mind it at all. I couldn’t do it, it’s just an achievement like any other, and it fits different players’ demographic, just like clock tower fits someone else.
Please DO keep making these kind of things man, you should be proud of what you made here.
Also, I see you’re concerned about players not liking it. Well, of course there will always be people who won’t like certain things, but you shouldn’t ignore all the people who actually loved it and want to see more. You can always make a poll or go randomly ask people for opinion and see the exact numbers and see if people in general loved it or hated it or simply weren’t interested in jumping stuff.
Honestly, I was shocked that you guys in Anet managed to come up with something this good, I really hope we’ll see more of these sorts of things
Good job.
The best thing in gw so far. Finally some challenge. It does get easy once you learn it though. Btw not everyone is supposed to be able to finish it. It’s an achievement so achieve it instead of whining.
I hope anet won’t change it in any way.
Title says it all, I wanted to show how a regular (not too skilled) player can and should do this puzzle.
