I used to think the same thing about Elixir X. I would highly encourage players in WvW to learn how to use it. I haven’t gone back to Supply Crate for almost 2 weeks now.

ever seen what Confusion does to Elixir X users they ll last less than 6 seconds.

Mortar really has no advantage over using your grenade kit

Elixir X is conditional but you will be destroyed by players who know how to hit their side movement keys and kite you

Supply crate: the only actually useful kit and its near useless in group fights as turrets are easier to break than paper However thats not what annoys me from the elite what annoys me is the 240 Seconds cooldown its far too long to make it a dependable elite everyone else has way better elites with 90-120s cooldowns.

the only problem i have with pistols are the #1 attack speed and bleed duration the bleeds aint all that strong either so i dont see any justification for the short duration next problem is the #2 im aiming at one target in particular for a reason i dont need my shots to fly all over the place what 1-2s of poison are gonna kill his nearby allies? i dont think so

ever since i went bunker this happens in 98% of the matches i join after the first minute they realize im not a prey to 1 vs 1. what annoys me is most enemy parties tend to be 2-3 thiefs 2-3 mesmers and usually 2 of the infamous eles 2 enemy teams had 5 thiefs i loled hard and followed up by esc exit to desktop.

I don’t main a thief, I find guards, eles, and messers much more powerful than thiefs when played by good players.

Thiefs excel at killing baddies. Baddies excel at crying on forums. Explains this 50 page thread.

yeah what does the engi do when the thief goes stealth nothing wait for his boons to enter cooldown and even if not what would he do the pure boon build requires having all Utilities with elixirs wich leave engineer with no defensive skills other than Elixir S unlike thiefs Engi bleed from pistol only lasts for 1-2 ticks whereas you get just useyour shortbows or the stealth pistol skill wich unloads an instant 5 bleed stack. having lots of might cant be compared to thief stealth nor Initiative the ability of using skills without cooldown alone is slightly overpowering on its own .

I don’t know much about engi’s but I fought a few engi’s that were pretty good and it didnt matter that I stealthed on him I could kill the guy.

Like others said you have to chose to take certain traits you can’t have them all and executioner is a big one if you really want to damage someone. I don’t like being full glass so I only have 15 in Critical, stats look like 2k power, 40% crit chance, 77 crit damage 2.5k armor. 30 in SA and 25 in acro.

A good engi fights around his traps does he not? This guy was using caltrops, his elite and his gunk. Had a shield for block had some ability he threw a disc that stunned me (not gears).

Now Its possible I could have killed that guy if I put 30 points into critical strikes. He was dodging when I go into stealth always moving stay near his elite. If I went to grab executioner I won’t have quick recovery, no feline grace. Its all a trade off blind on stealth is good, remove condi good, regen in stealth is good. so is infusion of shadow, shadow protector etc. I can’t have all of them, some thieves dont take the condi removal and like the blind, some like condi removal.

The problem is not thieves its peoples bloodlust honestly I can count at least 5 times yesterday I distracted a group of people who were zerg surfing. Its so easy to do we can be really annoying but if you ignore us it will make life much easier for you seriously.

wich further strengthens my points to the other thief , the engi needs 30 points for HGH trait to stack up mights and conditions. the one you fought had at least 10-20 points traited in Tools for Swiftness on kit and/or kit Refinement for the caltrops and wasnt running an elixir build he had pistol and shield to be able to use the “stun disk” shield #5 skill as for the gunk it was bomb #5 skill caltrops was tool kit #2 wich means the engi had at least 20 points on the Tool trait and probably 10-20 in Explosives for bomb range (and possibly Bomb cooldown). wich shows an elixir boon build is pretty much situational all but might boons only last 15s with runes so its not like they would be on at all times.

unless these do mediocre direct damage it would be overpowering as you have it set up basically would be stacking 5 bleeds every 1.5-3 seconds (assuming attack speed is at 1/2s) with the number 1 skill while dealing damage the rest would be fine as they seem to

We’re tied with Elementalist for the lowest amount of health in the game.

People complain that when we fail in a fight all we do is stealth and run away, but I’ve got news for you, that is all we can do.

We don’t have the luxury of running into a fight and standing there soaking up damage like a warrior does without sacrificing our own ability to do damage.

If a glass cannon thief gets away from you because of clever use of stealth, that’s a thief that can deal damage but had to use all of his utility slots to keep from dying. That’s where we are right now. It is just as annoying and painful for us to have to do it as it is for anyone to have to deal with it.

We were given the lowest amount of health, but as far as crazy nuke damage goes, it really only comes from three abilities; Cloak and Dagger, Heartseeker when an enemy is at low health, and Backstab when we are standing behind our targets.

Our nuke damage has been artificial culled by the restealth timer. Originally, we were only supposed to be hindered by the amount of initiative we have, but that changed so now we are slaves to our restealth timer if that is the kind of damage we want to do.

I get it, we were given too many ways to stealth ourselves. Shadow Refuge, Blinding Powder, Hide In Shadows, specced we can stealth on steal. Too many ways to do what feels like our only respectable source of damage in PvP.

So what? Stealth has a duration. If you see us drop a refuge you roll back, turn around, then run. Same mechanics are applied to just about everything else. We lack the snares we need to keep people in place for backstabs that we used to have, and you we can still be hit while we are stealthed so if you choose not to run away and swing blindly at the air, you’re still dealing damage to us while we try to position ourselves.

We have extremely low health, no protection or stability boons (Save for stability that comes from one of our elites while it is active), and deal all of our damage while we are in melee range while wearing medium armors we are assassins and as such, we need to be able to unload a crap ton of damage and escape if need be.

As far as group utility goes, we don’t bring the buffs. Hell, we don’t even buff ourselves. If we want might, we have to assign traits that give us might on use of venoms or signets. When you compare that to the setup engineers have, it just feels lackluster. Sure, theres requires 30 points in a tree, but when you compare the rewards they get just from their elixirs (Fury/Might/Retaliation, conditions to boons, health + Regen + Protection) and then the additional reward they get from their toolbar elixirs which also buff and aid allies (Big bonus there), plus the 1% damage per boon they have on themselves? Yeah, that’s awesome. Popping signets for 5 seconds of 5 stacks of might and dumping their passive effects for the active effects that in some cases are extremely conditional, is not fun.

That really ties into my next point. Our trait trees need to be looked at. Deadly arts really just feels very lackluster. Critical Strikes is in a good place. You might want to consider dropping Keen Observer though and replacing it with Practiced Tolerance because we kinda need the extra vitality. I love Acro and Shadows arts but I can’t go far enough into those trees without sacrificing my damage. You don’t get enough toughness and health our of them to feel comfortable gearing for damage stats, so you still need more toughness and vit to feel less than squishy, which sacrifices even more damage. That’s where our passive group utility feels like it is. Shadow Arts has the AE blind on stealth and the regen when we stealth our buddies but I’ve found that when I’m running with a group, other classes just do it better, and I’m better off just dealing damage.

My question is how can confusion can lead to death anyway? It doesn’t make sense. Now, I’m confused. LOL

easy for example lets assume you get 8 confusion stacked up and use tornado and the opponent has high condi damage boosting each Confusion tick’s damage everytime you use a skill even if its at nothing or healing one you ll lose up to 3k+ hp per tick wich in this case would be 6k per second since tornado procs 2 skills over time.

2 things confusion needs to be pegged down a bit in mesmers and the tornado needs fixing theres reports it even causes instant revives on Eles, now for the confusion damage you take 2 hits per second 1 for the 1-3 key discharge and another for the passive Launch effect.

i opened an engi guild months ago and well forever alone now even more since my sis trolled me and got me into yak’s bend.

You can still join us if you want, the only thing you couldn’t do with us is wvw. But with the guild missions coming and what not, we can use all the help we can get~

Hey Mask, awesome video man! Since I know you really like survivability, I was wondering if you’d actually be better off dropping 5 points out of Firearms for 5 points in inventions to get another heal when you need it and another +5 stacks of might :-)

that would cripple the build greatly for 1vs several fights as the firearms grandmaster is what makes pistol shots pierce

There’s a cooldown on ranger pet swapping, and a lot of rangers have invested significantly (15 points) to reduce that cooldown. So we can’t just swap “any time” as you state. If you kill the pet, which isn’t hard to do, the cooldown is a full minute untalented or 48 seconds talented. Assuming the ranger isn’t a scrub, he’ll swap before you kill the first pet, but that still leaves him with a 20 (16 talented) second cooldown during which you can kill the pet to start the 300% extended cooldown. Considering how dependent rangers are upon their pets for dealing damage and the other limitations their pets face, I think those cooldowns are pretty well balanced as they are. Completely removing in-combat pet swaps as you suggest would require a complete fundamental rework of the class, as the class is quite obviously built and balanced around being able to swap pets during combat.

Well theres 2 things i Meant to say the issue was in PvP of course pets die fast in WvW and pve since theres critical damage modifiers etc and I Never mentioned the pet swapping was done when pets died the problem is precisely that rangers swap their pets when they reach low hp thus never letting the pet die and as far as i know some pets even got invulnerability.

but yeah i cant judge a class simply cuz i ve been playing with a broken class that wasnt finished so yeah the problem is with my main class not being balanced.

not even with bunker builds we have survivavility why? because we cant remove conditions we remove one we get 4 slapped and stacking together how are engis to deal with necros condition thiefs mesmers or Rangers if we can only remove one condition at a time (asuming you got the master trait in healing otherwise just give up)its ridiculous if one player can stack up confusions that fast then a defensive player should be able to remove them almost as fast if his whole build specializes in healing. make formula 409 cleanse at least 3 conditions with main elixir and 1 with tool belt elixirs same for the med kit’s antidote its not like all those skills even trigger instantly they all got activation times.

at least one of those options should be viable.

It is overpowering the pet itself does up to 4k damage while the ranger simply stacks up 20 bleeds poison burning cripple immobilize , having the ability to swap pets mid combat stops the other player from even getting close to the ranger. not even tank builds work against ranger because ranger simply focuses on condition while pet does the melee being able to swap your pets at anytime is no diferent than having a never dieing pet.

Go to to Hoelbrak north of the maw event place is a lodge west from that are ice elementals and there spawns a veteran all the time the rest of dailies you can do around gathering ,healer as even more to the west theres an event where npcs can get killed easily if theres no players keeping them alive as for Dodge: Wurms are your friends let them burrow to you count 1 second when they stop in front of you and then Evade.

toughness simply needs more love i think ,power escalates damage greatly and then if you add crit damage to the factor the damage increase is massive over 100% in cases i had 110% crit damage using Rare and green gear so that means it could be higher with exotics and food etc.

Bunker build he ll give up bothering you when he sees his backstab only plucks away 10% of your hp and that his attacks tickle you, downside is you’ll tickle everyone as well as your damage will be extremely mediocre.

You do get that Pets are then entirety of the Ranger mechanic right? They are the whole point of being a Ranger and you want us to not even be able to use it?

so then engineers should have Non cooldown turrets too ? yes pets are the entirety of ranger mechanic however as it stands its broken it doesnt encourage rangers to really synch their attacks with their pets nor watch over them they just drop pets and just when they have under 20% hp whoop pet swap gotta watch out for the new pet and all for what since when its dieing again swoosh new pet incoming and thats where the problem lies pets are meant to be used alrite but they shouldnt be swappable at all times if they are under attack just imagine an engineer with non cooldown turrets infinetly bleeding crippling knocking stunning over and over.

ft#1 hits 10 times in 4 seconds, ft#2 hits up to 10 times every 4.5 seconds.

with a crit heavy build, the duration of the bleed on crit trait is meant to be low to compensate for how often the ft strikes the opponent. this is also why the ft (much to the chagrin of our inner levitican) does not set foes on fire for very long. it would be over powered.

you are right, a competent guardian can keep a foe perma burning as well, but not every group has a guardian. plus, outside of dungeons (dungeons being the only place where a guardian makes the ft redundant) the ability to sweep through a zerg with the ft starts the bleed and burn chains for everyone else, and does so marvelously.

the ft is a support weapon that maintains conditions on foes allowing synergetic group dynamics for classes that increase efficacy based on foe conditions. it is not a warrior great sword, or a rangers long bow.

properly used, the flamethrower is a very powerful and effective weapon kit despite the lingering targeting bugs.

as always, of course other classes do things differently and under the right circumstances can do things better, but that same sentiment applies to engies as well. nee players ought not be dissuaded from playin with an ft just because the guardian has an F1 skill.

you must have an upgraded flamethrower or something lol.

personally i chose healing power over Vit.

Cons: it will be hellish hard triggering the 25-20% hp effects from runes and traits and can be killed faster than a toughness Vit build.

Pros: can self heal over 18k hp every 20s and can AoE heal other players around for 6-10k hp plus Regen wich makes the extra Vit unnecesary for me.

heck is there a Toughness Vit and healing power gear?

well i think your priorities should be a new HDD and a GPU if you lag or simply want higher graphics without losing performance.

maybe use a good defragmenter too etc etc .

the problem with turrets isnt lack of mobility as they are turrets the problem is the ridiculous cooldowns when compared to the low damage they can take and deal their effectiveness is next to 0% sure they can be usefulll in Rare ocassions but ask yourself what would an engi with a build made focused on turrets do when all his turrets are gone leaving him with all utilities with 20-60s cooldown. needless to say the toolbelt skills other than rifle turret and probably another one have cooldowns of 60s as well.

well thanks to the mod who changed the wrong wording. as many have suggested i ll just try find a guild that does fractals and any other dungeon and maybe wvw.

too many noobs watching web vids and trying to make identical parties for “fastest” performance is whats goin on i suppose.

The reason why theres no auto grenades is because then they would need to auto target as well wich would make grenades useless as they are more effective manually aimed for example if enemies are hiding in tricky corners . so it is not that they arent auto attackable because of their power but a matter of convenience.

or classist for that matter) Every single day i search for a party to do fractals i keep getting kicked out as soon they see i play as an engineer seriously? im stuck at lvl 2 simply because no one wants me in a party , i really feel insulted and like its pointless to resume playing the game as it is since this happens with other dungeons too, hardly anyone gives me a chance to show if i got skill or if i lack and can improve.

that would be a great addition as it could be used either as an AoE turret or high rate of fire like channeling skills. or both actually making the overload shot be the AoE with a long cooldown on both fire modes as drawback.
