There’s no one-shots in the game, with the exception of Kill Shot and Backstab against really absolutely nakedly squishy targets.

100-blades hits X times. It’s not like it’s something that just falls from the sky and is unavoidable. It has a long cast time. Here’s a solution: Walk away. Dodge. You know it’s coming. You have NO excuses to not do anything about this one-trick pony build.

If you decide to eat the whole thing, then sure as hell you deserve to die.

A game for all kinds of players means it’s POSSIBLE for you to do all kinds of things for all kinds of players. Not that you will, unless you really want to.

Agreed, but to ignore the disproportionate representation or not consider that balance is a factor is naive. “because thieves are cool” cannot possibly be 100% of the reason. I suspect it is that, combined with spam able kill buttons like HS, and also easy to use kill sequences like steal, C&D, backstab, HS, and warriors frenzy HB. Few other professions have sequences as well known, documented and proven to work in sPvP. All counter able by skilled players of course, but effective vs the majority in sPvP. Ranger classes in other games are fairly popular in PvP (hunter and druid in WoW), but not here. Why? I can see Engie being “different” than usual classes in a fantasy game accounting for a lot of the popularity hit. Though I would think that popularity in that sense apples more to PvE.

We can turn it around and say, why does nobody play engineer according to your statistics? They’re mighty fine in terms of balance, one of the best bunkers for TPvP, yet you haven’t encountered that many. I can come up with several ideas as to why, but none will be conclusive. The fact that they don’t have any sort of melee weapon, and are disallowed weapon swaps in favor of kits, limited “real weapons”, can be extremely confusing to some, random elements involved in many skills, so on. All could be true although I doubt that is the case. In terms of style, however, I’m not sure. I’m not digging their style, others might.

I’ve always expected Elementalist, Thief and Warrior to be the most played classes, and that’s usually because of their “style”
Mage, warrior and scout/rogue are very common RPG professions, where as Mesmers and Engineers? Not so much. That in itself has a lot to say as well. I’m willing to bet most people love the assassiny playstyle and general style, and that seems to be true in many cases.

I don’t mind that there’s some professions that are played more than others.
In fact I’m surprised that you have that many warriors in that statistic, I hardly meet any, yet I meet plenty of engineers.

The changes that would be needed to make them more popular would most likely cause them to be less popular with their current players, as the previous style could very well be what they liked about the profession. It’s a tricky one.

I didn’t say buff specifically. I said make more appealing. Make Rangers and Engies more appealing to sPvP players. And yes, your assumptions are silly, until you do them 50 times and document the results, as I did, then you can make empirical statements as opposed to your subjective example. As it stands, and this is subjective, sPvThiefWarrior is not fun unless you are one of them, or have an awesome build to counter them. You do not need yo make a build to counter an Engie as you are unlikely to encounter one. There needs to be better diversity. You seem to prefer keeping sPvThiefWarrior as is.

Never stated what I preferred, so that’s a silly assumption on your half.

It is however absolutely impossible to gather statistical data about what professions are most played, and somehow create a connection with balance. And by impossible, I mean that it’s impossible to conclude anything with this said data and connection.

And no matter how many times you perform this data-gathering, be it 750 times, or enough that you have successfully faced EVERY SINGLE player, it is simply not possible to conclude anything even close to what might be the reason for this choice of profession. And certainly not anything about balance.

Also, what might sPvThiefWarrior be? I’ve heard about thieves being a trouble in WvW, but not in SPvP, and warriors? I mean, seriously? Warriors? I think you meant GuardianMesmerSpengineer if anything.

In an ideally balanced game, with 8 equally effective and desirable professions, I should have seen 87 of each.

No, you shouldn’t.
Are you expecting people to spread out evenly across all professions, simply because they’re equally balanced?
That’s the silliest assumption ever made.

Who cares if all classes were 100% balanced, if Ranger for example, is just a horribly boring profession with a boring playstyle?

You are agreeing with me while trying to disagree with me. If that were the case, Rangers need to be improved to be equally effective and desirable, as I said.

Except I don’t agree with you, because you want to improve them with no reasoning besides nobody plays them.

Rangers could be the strongest profession and yet be the least played. Those two factors: OP and Most Played are not tied together in any way, shape or form.

A Ranger should NOT be buffed because nobody plays it, if it is just as strong as any other profession. That is not a reason to buff.

Example: I entered a game today with 5 Rangers.
This must mean that they’re overpowered.
Since that is a silly assumption, I won’t make that assumption.
Since there was no mesmers present, that must mean they’re underpowered.
That is also a silly assumption that should not be made.
Does mesmers need a tweak/buff/nerf/whatnot because I don’t see Mesmers often?
No. That’s a silly idea as well.

Guild Wars 2 is purely about cosmetics. This has been stated so many times it’s unbelievable.

The reason you make a destroyer short bow over a pearl shortbow is that the destroyer shortbow looks great, and the pearl shortbow looks…yeah.

Also, afaik, only legendary weapons will be promoted to ascended weapons.
Mind you, legendary weapons are also purely cosmetic atm. Everything you find is purely cosmetic with the exception of this ascended gear – which you at one point or another might want to transmute.
Luckily the only ascended gear out now is rings and 2 cloaks (which look awesome).

To my understanding, most fractals don’t need agony resistance at all, despite of the level. You just have to be insanely cautious. Agony is applied through boss mechanics mostly, such as Archdiviner’s Initial AoE-damage, Dredge Powersuit’s groundslam, Jellyfish’s nomnom ability.
So AFAIK, you can easily get away with not having ANY resistance at all, if you’re pro enough.

And if you’re pro enough, no-one will notice that you have 0 resistance.

It’s annoying.

So you essentially expect to get an achievement without achieving anything.
How’s that for a stupid answer?

Because all achievements certainly are do-able. This is an issue with you, not the achievement system. I could understand if it was bugged. Then fair enough, something needs to be done. That’s not the case however, you’re just not winning the fights.

Dear Robert: First of all, FotM is a huge success. My jaw dropped in almost all of the fractals, because I was simply amazed by the clever design!
However, there will always be things to improve, and here’s what I think you could improve:
The Krait underwater fractal’s final boss, the Jellyfish, is very underwhelming. It has no real abilities to be aware of. I suggest increasing the damage of the lightning around the cages by a lot, so there’s some sort of danger. The spin-daze attack could use an increase in lethality too.

The Frozen wasteland fractal is excellent, with the exception of the beginning. I want to fear frostbite, but it’s not lethal enough. There’s also the issue that you can shorten the run to the major bonfire by a lot, just by jumping off the edge. The last boss could use some more dangerous moves too.

And the Uncategorized fractal: I like it very much, up to the final boss, where I’m absolutely confused. What is the raving asura doing there? Why do we not get to attack him? What is the purpose of the last cutscene? Does he kill himself or teleport away? The cutscene is really vague :P

If some random person just goes “lol claim click!”, he’s potentially draining away 10% more hp, 10% more healing, 40 power, and so on from the structure, and what is the good guild supposed to do about this?

Correct. Don’t be a LFG tool hater.

I’ll be a LFG tool hater as much as I please.

Tool-generated groups are, as seen in all other games featuring the tool, the reason you get Donald in your group. Maybe a whole pack of Donalds! What are you to do about it? Nothing. If you leave, you’re punished for it. Try to kick him? Might get kicked yourself. Punished for that too.
“Hurr so make your own group lol”
With whom? The people who once used map-chat are now using the tool, because how else would they find a group? And why should I make a group myself when the game directly discourages that by shoving an unnecessary dungeon finding tool down my throat? It’s there. You find many more groups (quantity), but how many quality groups do you find? Seeing as the groups are just mushed together, chances are you will find at least one Donald. Maybe even 2. Or 3. The horror.

Donald gets groups because the tool lets him. It trusts his ability to do the dungeons with no evidence. You, the skilled player, will end in a group with him, and will suffer 2-hour runs with him.

The difference between a pug found in the dungeon finder, and the pug found by spamming map chat is that I can select who I want to join my group. I cannot select that if there’s a tool, as no-one would use the map chat to find groups anymore.

I meet many bad elementalists.
However, once in maybe 20, I meet that one elementalist that makes me want to smash my screen in frustration, because he’s absolutely impossible to down, even with uneven fights like 3v1 in our favor.
That one elementalist knows how to use his elementalist to its full potential. And that one elementalist is the reason people want elementalists in their tourney groups.

I don’t know when TA was changed as it was not in any of the patch notes. Hopefully it is stil relevent.

I feel that TA has been made far too easy. Here are the changes that I noticed

-Blossom are much larger. This is a good change; It allows more professions to hit them with ease.

-Blossom Spawn rate was decreased significantly. Now blossoms do not operate as a unique mechanic specific to TA. It’s a clear once and forgot about it thing. Fights where blossoms are present no longer require much attention.

-Blossom damage was decreased significantly. Now instead of continuous damage, the damage comes in pulses, and they do not hurt at all. It took a blossum 9-10 second sto kill a player standing next to it. This makes them extremely non-threatening even if accidentally triggered. Additionally, with how the blossoms are now, it’s even easier to speed clear/bypass most content as being careless with blossom sweeping is no longer fatal.

-Nightmare Vine spit damage was decreased. I found 5-6 overlapping circles, and was able to stand in them for 4-5 seconds before I reached 10% HP. The damage before could kill me in 2 seconds easily. This makes paying attention to positioning in the nightmare vine fight no longer important.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the choices made with TA. Now it feels like a very bland dungeon.

Thank you,
TJL

I agree somewhat, but I feel it’s like Sorrow’s Embrace path 2.
At first it was far too easy, now it’s far too hard, working on finding a middle ground.
