I’m completely fine with Berserker being needed, and Sinister being needed.
I’m not fine with needing to step down from my Herald Zerker, when my group needs condition damage, because Sinister Revenant isn’t viable, compared to Sinister Engineer.
If you never get to Security Level 2, that’s bad luck.
The maps I’m in often reach very high.
I’ll just chime in and say that this is more due to personal incompetence. Everything in this expansion so far has been pretty logical and straight-forward.
You select a Mastery you want to gain XP towards. When your bar is full, you open the Mastery panel and click the mastery to consume a point, and gain the mastery.
You do what you’ve always done. Events, gather currencies. Use your XP to train a desired Mastery track. Gain new ability – decide on new Mastery track to train (or continue in the same one, XP is saved for each track.)

If true, this will likely be a last nail in the coffin for me. (No, you cannot have my stuff).
Can I have your s-
Oh.
RAID HYPE
Are we all getting free WoW subs for a month?
No, but we’re definitely getting raids.
HYPE!
Sigh I hope it’s not true.
1. Free to play typically means the game is over. When games go free to play they don’t last as long. And the amount of spam we will get from gold sellers will be awful.
2. We don’t need raids. I understand people like them and have been asking for them but seriously go play wow and ff14. A large amount of people in this game got it to get away from garbage that destroys the community in other mmo games.
Anet please tell me it’s not true. Your looking more like a wow copycat, next it will be a gear treadmill
You’re wrong. Speak for yourself
1. This won’t change anything for me.
2. Raids have been known to be coming, and this will please many, including myself, that we finally have something to do
I have never said that in any game forum i played in the past, but….
If GW2 goes full f2p on core game, i am really thinking about quitting the game.
Well i don’t want to take away the money and new players from ArenaNet, but i also don’t want to deal with toxic community. And we ALL know, that f2p games are source of evill and toxic community, thats why i dont play f2p games.
Exactly.
If gw2 goes f2p we can say goodbye to our great community and welcome masses of trolls and gold sellers. If that is true (but I still hope it’s not), then it’s really awful to announce it after so many people bought HoT already.
What great community? This game’s community is pretty much the same as any other game’s community. WoW’s community is “toxic and evil” and that game has a huge barrier in terms of payment. Doesn’t stop anyone from spreading toxicity. Going by the logic that F2P = toxicity, WoW should be the least toxic game in existence. But it isn’t. Neither is Guild Wars 2.
The only thing changing here is that we’ll probably see more spam, unless ArenaNet makes new accounts unable to whisper, mail, and use the trading post.

I’d say from all the WoW vids in Dontain’s channel we know exactly where this piece of propaganda is coming from
From a sane gamer who’s not too proud to admit his game is pretty much just an empty framework that has received no actual updates since Fractals. I think we know exactly where this piece of excellent argumentation and concern is coming from indeed.
Buuuuut hey, Wildstar seems like it’s going to be great. You know, actual dungeons and actual goals. Actual challenges. The stuff Guild Wars 2 needs but never receives.
This is not the game they said it would be sadly, and my patience has run out. I guess that’s where it’s good that there’s no subscription fee. I can check in once in a while to see if they’ve finished their game.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-expansion-1Q-Ncsoft-Conference-Call/first#post2011639
That’s why they’re doing well enough on sales to not need an expansion yet and that’s why I can find plenty of players in all zones.
Oh, so THAT’S why their updates so far are horrible? Because their sales are well enough to not need an expansion. That’s why we’ve had no real update since Fractals! Sheesh, don’t know what went into my mind there. I see these last 4 content patches were really filled to the brim with awesome stuff to do, like completing 5 whole new dynamic events and fixing signs! Quality content, they’re certainly earning well enough to spit out this stuff!
Nobody plays Dynamic Events.
In what game? Because in the game called Guild Wars 2 players do play Dynamic Events.
Really? Where? Last I checked in the game Guild Wars 2, every zone was empty with the small exception of Dragon Events and sometimes if you’re lucky, Orr events.
So yeah. Nobody plays it.
I agree with almost everything OP.
Except Fractals being bad. Fractals was the only dungeon that was actually great, challenging and rewarding.
Everything else is pure garbage. Nobody plays Dynamic Events.
I’ve always hated when they said “Endgame? We have plenty, look at all our dynamic events!!”
Yeah, well, just because I say my Sandwich is a Pizza, it doesn’t make it a Pizza. It’s still a sandwich.
Just cuz you call Dynamic Events “Endgame”, it doesn’t make it endgame. It’s still just a method of leveling, and it should by no means at all be expanded upon, when the rest of the game is falling short.
Forcing people to play with other people in an MMO is just wrong. Why is the game even online, jesus!
Good one. I don’t oppose it. I like it. It kinda fells a bit funny till now you could handle it yourself and now you need a lot of help.
Shrubbing about in the bushes gathering information on how to tackle the great threat. Doesn’t seem that weird to me. Gather intel and sabotage, then gather an army and beat em up.
Forcing people to play with other people in an MMO is just wrong. Why is the game even online, jesus!
“In Guild Wars 2, everybody should have access to every item.”
It should be that way. Everybody should have access to it, granted they play well.
Everyone has. It is in the auction house. Stop whining about RNG and drop rates and buy the stuff you dont get. So simple.
GRANTED THEY PLAY WELL.
I’ll whine about RNG till the day it’s gone, and I will not buy the stuff I don’t get. So simple. Now go be a fanboy somewhere else, I heard CoD is in great need of people like you. Quit defending bad design.
“In Guild Wars 2, everybody should have access to every item.”
It should be that way. Everybody should have access to it, granted they play well. So the best players could face a final boss that is incredibly hard, but entirely skipable, and if the best players succeeded, they’d be given a free unique Molten Prototype Never-Seen-Before weapon token, to buy a brand new unique best-player only item with the same stats as any other weapon, but a cool skin. And the bad players could continue to be bad, and not get said skin – but not be at a disadvantage either.
Here’s how it shouldn’t be: Regardless of whether the player is good or bad, it makes no difference as the content is too easy, and the rewards are handed out based on luck.
I wonder how few people there are who just run the dungeon and play the game for fun, and nothing more than that. I have such trouble wrapping my head around comments saying it sucks because the loot is nothing to write home about.
I ran the dungeon once, I’ll run it once or twice more before it’s gone, and that’ll be it. I’ll have had fun and I move on. Is loot really everything? To me it ain’t.I know, different people different tastes, but still…
Best I can do is describe the feeling:
You’ve worked hard and you want to prove that you did work hard and that you’re good. But there’s nothing to prove it. There’s nothing unique that lets you stand out from the crowd, and so you’re just one in a mass.
I, personally, want a hard mode of the dungeon, where you get a unique skin, that only those who did hard mode can get.
It’s not fun for me, if I do not get something for my character that I can show off. And currently, the only show-off item is the Jetpack. But it’s not soulbound, and furthermore, it’s not hard to get – it’s just about luck. So basically, while it was fun to run the dungeon, I was so disappointed at the reward that I won’t be doing it again.
I understand how you can be satisfied with just the experience. I can’t, however. It’s not fun the second or third time or anything beyond that. Fractals are fairly fun, because you feel you’re working towards a goal. I know the goal’s not there, because at the end of the day, you’re just increasing the level to get more of nothing.
(edited by Rika.7249)
They should just add it as a purchasable weapon skin for a new currency only awarded at level 30+.
Then add the rest of the levels beyond 50, and have a green reskinned version for a new currency only awarded at 50+. So the ones carrying the green swords can be recognized as badarses
or same skin but have ascended stats. I personally love the white trail but would be 100% fine with it if there was a different colored trail to go with higher lvl skins. People who want their prestige would get their prestige and people who want their skins would get it though a common sense currency system.
Exactly. I’m a prestige hunter, so it’s incredibly frustrating that the only prestigious items in the game are fractal-weaponry and a fully upgraded capacitor. A simple color-change would let the prestige hunters show off their level, without being stronger than anyone else, statwise.
RNG is killing the game.
A token system would’ve been better than this crap, even if it meant a 30+ times of grinding through that same dungeon. At least then you’d KNOW you were making progress.

You are not really on topic here. (Please go hug your mommy. With all that crying, you clearly need some love, or maybe a life?)
The dungeon is nice. However, im still waiting for the small changes within the dungeon. Im pretty sure they said it would change from time to time.
And people still have to wait and see what happens may 12 to make any final conclusions.peace
Please go hug your own mommy, you clearly need a lot of hand-holding. What the hell is wrong with you, going offensive for no reason. So sensitive, fanboy.
It had great gameplay and bad loot, which is perfect for letting players enjoy the content rather than farm countless boring hours to get the shiniest new weapon.
It did indeed have great gameplay. But in the end, it was fun once, and now we can wait for another month to see what 30 minute-gameplay they toss in our direction.
I’d rather spend countless boring (?) hours trying to figure out a hellishly hard boss fight, to then be rewarded with a shiny weapon skin, that only the best have.
This is gw2 and its not about the said ENDGAME that word is bad baaad not intended for this game.
That word is bad? Aha.
But no. It’s not bad and it’s definitely intended for this game. Nobody enjoys doing the same dynamic events over and over for a reward that cannot be exchanged for anything.
They might think that it is their so-called end-game, but just because I call my pizza “Sandwich”, it doesn’t make it one. It’s still a pizza.
They may call it end-game, but the only end-game they have is Fractals. And that’s alarming.
I was actually referring to the part where the path branches into either drilling the door down or bombing it. It’s pretty much impossible to do without resetting or wiping.
Well I’m going to disagree with you on that. We run both of those obstacles all the time, and hardly ever wipe (though some players tend to die, but not the whole team).
I think the part with the buttons and the door is much worse.
Believe Rika means actually fighting your way to the door without ever running away and leaving combat, whereas I’m assuming your team runs in and out of combat to avoid wiping, because, let’s face it, the sheer amount of mobs there makes fighting a nightmare. Unless you have 100% reflect uptime, it’s probably nigh impossible, and even then I wouldn’t expect it to be easy. . .
That’s exactly what I mean. You’re facing 20+ dredge, all with perma-protection, some veterans, with burn effects, and immunity to blind. How is it possible without running out to drop aggro even once? Is it possible, without using stealth/resets/wiping, to just stand there and take all the dredge down while someone amidst the controlled chaos bombs the door down? I can’t see how it’s supposed to be done as intended.
Same dungeon, same lack of loot. Same wasted time.
Same umadbros
Same soniamdisappoint.
Wish content like this was scrapped in favor of making actual endgame.
Run CoF1 more.
Lack of loot? Really? I was in 4 times, 1 run gets me in average between 1-2 g. And of course, there are the ‘jackpots’.
I wish more quality content like this one was added.
No. I won’t run CoF1 more. It’s not challenging and not fun.
You seem to confuse “lack of loot” with “lack of random world drops that can be earned anywhere”
“Lack of loot” is lack of loot unique to the dungeon, such as a dungeon-drop only item. There’s a jetpack. Aaaaaaand its RNG is worse than Fractal Weapons, and even worse considering we have 12 days to farm the kitten out of the facility and just close our eyes and hope. I came out of the dungeon the last 4 times without anything. I was not an experience wiser, not a dime richer, not a tad more amused.
I wish less lackluster content like this one was added, and more quality content like Fractals was added.
Fractals is the only good permanent thing we’ve seen. Everything else has been “alright” at best, the permanent stuff. I don’t mind temporary stuff, but there’s only one real dungeon in the game, and that’s alarming 8 months down.
Living story dev team is separate from permanent in-game additions like “real” dungeons, so anything these guys create does not detract from the actual content teams.
These “story dev teams” could do something else. I don’t understand why they even have a team for it, if this is all they could come up with. I know they want end-game to be dynamic events and living stories like this one, but just because they name it end-game doesn’t mean its anywhere near end-game.
Where’s the challenge? Where’s the prestigious skin-rewards only the best of the best can walk around with?
(edited by Rika.7249)
Same dungeon, same lack of loot. Same wasted time.
I’m at the freezing-room. Pretty much the same.
Okay, maybe there’s another one: Dredge fractal. Has any group at level 20+ ever done the doors the way they were supposed to, without wiping or resetting the mobs?
Rarely! And this is a very good point you’ve brought up. Even at levels below 20, most of my parties always die on top of the switches… and surely that can’t be the intended strategy? I wouldn’t mind if they gave the dredge less health, or reduced their damage. Or maybe not have them respawn quite so fast. Because I have rarely seen a team pull off this Fractal in the way I think they intended it.
The fact that everyone still completes the dredge fractal means its not too hard. The things that were considered unintended were obviously fixed with this new patch. Dying on a switch is necessary only as a last resort. Really, its up to the person opening the door to not fail.
I was actually referring to the part where the path branches into either drilling the door down or bombing it. It’s pretty much impossible to do without resetting or wiping.
I also had 1 more mace but I accidentally salvage it as it was my first fractal weapon I ever got (at my 1st 48). Nearly every one of those 103 relics are from frac 38 or 48, maybe MAYBE 5 are from something else. Yet that is all the skins I’ve gotten from all that farming. Even worse is that I don’t care about any of them. From day 1, all I’ve wanted was the dagger. Why can’t I just get a dagger skin? I would trade all those skins, even the transmuted ones, in for a dagger.
Oh I forgot to say I also spent 10 relics to get my 1st ring as well. Guess I just have the worst luck ever.
Last edit I swear :P I have about 1 full bank tab of rings and a bajillion tokens (even after giving most of my 7 alts 20 slot boxes, backpieces, and rings) but I have all the tokens and rings on my fractals mule. The stuff you see in my bank is just the stuff I hadn’t sent over yet.
Totally off-topic, but what is that lantern rainbow item thingie?
The one that looks like a dye, with rainbows in the background :p
The only huge issue FOTM has, in my honest opinion, is the lack of more fractals like we were teased with, and more importantly, rewards that are only available after hitting level 40-50+
Okay, maybe there’s another one: Dredge fractal. Has any group at level 20+ ever done the doors the way they were supposed to, without wiping or resetting the mobs?
I think there’s something wrong with the content, when it encourages running away and waiting for bombs to respawn. There’s no possible way to survive staying in there either. If they could be blinded, it would be amazingly cool and intense. Having them have perma-protection, blind immunity and several dazes makes Dredge the single most fearsome enemy in the game.
Would you prefer spending 15 bucks a month for the same content over and over like in WoW until they decide time for a new patch nearly 5 months later or would you prefer small updates over time?
It’s not a matter of if Guild Wars 2 patches more than World of Warcraft (Spoiler Alert: they do), it’s a matter of setting expectations of what is coming. In terms of features, yeah they kind of delivered with the WvW levelling system, Guild Missions, and some sPvP features but in terms of content what did we get? Running around and hitting Use to repair signs? A dungeon that will be permanently removed in 2 weeks? A seasonal event that is set to be removed tomorrow until next year?
How is that an expansion’s worth of content?
It’s not. Meanwhile the Fractals – The ONLY means of achieving anything worthwhile, is collecting dust. No unique level X+ rewards for the best players. No new fractals. A 30 minute dungeon temporary dungeon that anyone can do, however..
A whole 30 minutes of fun. A reward everyone can get.
I wish they’d focus on permanent content, and reward the best players.
The only prestigious item in the game is a fully upgraded Fractal Capacitor + A Fractal Weapon skin. These new gloves would be super awesome, if they weren’t practically handed to every player in the game.
Ah well. There’s always next time.
I never understand how other people attaining something lessens what you have.
Different persons different opinions.
Some play MMOs to look special visually, having items that prove your great deeds – not giving you a statistical advantage, but simply a way to be recognized as a great player.
If everybody has that item, it’s not really that prestigious now, is it.
To put it more bluntly: If I’m the best player in the world, I want to be able to show that by having a skin that only the most hardcore can get. However there are no such items, which leaves the hardcore players of GW2 starving for some sort of content.
Edit: Checking your signature, you seem to pretty much see the problem, but you recognize it as something else. You see the problem as having too many goals to achieve.
I see the problems as having too many goals to achieve, each with pretty much NO effort required, meaning reaching each goal is meaningless when it doesn’t really give you anything. I would love to see a level 60+ Fractal only currency, that allows the best Fractal-players to show off their skill by having gear only obtainable by getting to 60+.
Having full CoF gear is pretty much shameful in that respect. Everyone can get it. Everyone has it. Even the worst players. And I do not want to share armor sets with the worst.

Ought to just make Fractal Weapons difficulty level 50+ – gaining a new currency only available at those levels, allowing you to purchase skins you want.
This game leaves us starving for prestigious items. Nothing in the game looks cool when everybody has it. Just like these new Fused Gauntlets. Everybody has them, why wear them.
You only get Pristine relics from even number-fractals, for example 10, 12, 14, 16.
You also only get one pristine relic per day per 10th level. (I believe)
“Moto has set up shop at the north end of Rata Sum”
That would be the NORTH END OF RATA SUM. You know, the huge floating Asura main city.
In the north end.
Which happens to be the end, where the portal to Lion’s Arch is placed.

I think once all the lvls are in it will be big and varied enough to keep its appeal. Some more skins would be nice!
Absolutely.
Home Instance Super Adventure Box.
THE HISAB.
Make it happen Anet.
Game Over
I would like new additions to the world of tyria. This content is cute but I’d prefer to play new content on my mesmer …. not a mario / zelda knock off which takes all my abilities away.
You don’t think you’ll be getting new additions to the world of Tyria?
Spoiler alert – there’ll be plenty of new additions. How one can say no to keeping this, I cannot understand.

Because while it may get boring after a while, it is definitely something that they can create new levels for, and having it in the game doesn’t hurt. I also wish that the Halloween games and Wintersday games had stayed, perhaps in your home instance, so you could play them once in a while. I miss the snow-capture the flag, and the Moba-halloween fields.
At the beginning of zone 1, there is a tree that you have to climb that has a bauble.
Ahhh, that bugger! Thanks a bunch!
you probably missing ones in the labyrinth.
Nope.
I’ve collected everything I could find. Is there like a super hidden bauble that isn’t a room?
I can’t imagine how you’ve done it. I’ve run the whole thing several times now, I know all the secret places and have the achievements for the secret places. I’ve just now run World 1 Zone 1 3 times, collecting everything I see and know, including all places that require bombs and even trashing the shopkeepers’ places. I’m tempted to call it bugged now
Scumbag ArenaNet strikes again!
You could’ve just sold the tickets in the store and earned tons of cash that way, but nope.avi
Must add gamble! Must rip customers for cash! More! MORE!
Can’t wait for the next new set of itemskins, now only available through [X-Chest], that must also be bought for gems, but it’s LOCKED! Buy an [X-Key]!
Now you have a tiny slim chance to get our weapon skins, but we’d rather just give you Revive Orbs, our best invention!
/rant.
also experience gains in spvp are missing too, lots of other games have their bgs and give small xp gains and even gear rewards for your chars level as well.
Not going to happen though. They want to keep it separated from PvE, which is fine.
Then maybe it should be….separated….?
I really like the idea of calling it a beta and making it ftp.
Maybe. I don’t see how they would implement that though.

- In game guides to every champion.
Now, imagine gw2 had half of the stuff I described.
Nothing else to say.
Lol at that point.
Also, I’m guessing you’re talking about SMITE.
And yes, almost all of the features would be a warm welcome in here.
Except a champion guide. Not like there’s any champions to speak of.
Custom games are coming though, with rental servers.
I wish they had kept the Halloween and Winter’s Day PvP stuff. They served the “fun mode” quite well, except it should be with normal player abilities instead of the fixed ones.
Example:
A mesmer might be great at 1v1.
Their damage in a team-fight isn’t anything to scream and shout about.
However, Time Warp is the sole reason you want a mesmer. Nobody cares that it can hold on in a 1v1. By that logic, you should just roll 5 Rangers and you’d have the best team in the world. They can 1v1 the living crap out of everyone, so a team of 5 must be amazing right? Right?… Right?
Oh.
Just a theory I came up with, discuss? Is this a good or bad concept? Since PvE, WvW, and sPvP are so vastly different, should Anet make specific balances for each mode, rather than cross mode balances?
In case you didn’t notice, they already balance differently in each mode.
Evasive Arcana: The spell cast while in water attunement has been split between PvE and PvP. This spell’s effectiveness with the healing attribute has been reduced by 50% while in PvP.
as the latest example.
If they buff/nerf something across all modes, it’s probably because it’s just as silly across all modes.
Totally not alt-friendly.
Except you can still do dailies on your alts.
In fact I get the daily done way faster just by logging onto one of my alts.
I don’t see anything wrong with getting a reward for taking your time to save the world from a dragon that will disappear regardless of whether you take action or not.
At least now I have a reason to go and fight these big monsters.
Fun is not an incentive, as pretty much all the dragon fights are extremely boring. They’re structures so they can’t be critically hit, 50 people applying all their conditions leaving my condgineer in the shadows.
It’s not fun.
Of course I want a reward for doing something that I have no reason to do at all.
