Please know that we who were listed are not the only ones to be here. More are to come, I do believe I read another WvW might be coming and one for every profession in the game will have one. As Dranmor said, There will be a few sub forums which don’t have one when the program 100% up and running.

Dungeons need their own because the mechanics differ than normal PvE. and then my job is to cover General discussion, lore, and Living Story.

As already stated, it is wise to not let what people say get to you. When people label you as “being better than someone else” people will hate you and troll you. This is something I’ve come very a custom with, and the rest of the forum specialists should as well.

Lastly, as this happen yesterday, please do not feel bad if you wish to message or add me in game. I’d be more than welcome to assist you via whisper or mail.

Flameseeker prophecies to be subpar in HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Riku.4821

Riku.4821

When The Flameseeker Prophecies is wielded, the book on the front as well as much of the background glows blue.
When The Flameseeker Prophecies is first drawn and whenever you use a skill, a glowing blue page turns on the book.

The user leaves foggy footprints.
The user’s body is coated in a fog aura.
At night a moon appears at the wolf’s head.
When drawn, small drops of water burst from the user’s body.
Upon blowing the horn, the wolf’s head howls and makes a faint howling sound; a moon illuminates in the crescent of the horn, and sparkles appear around it; and a ghostly wolf head appears for a brief moment.
For Necromancer tango icon 20px.png, Life Transfer and Tainted Shackles have the same effects as when using a horn skill if entering death shroud whilst wielding Howler.

The “mouth” of the torch opens and closes.
Weapon model replaces generic model on torch throw skills.
The player’s footprints leave fire.
The arm holding the torch is on fire.
Enemies killed by Rodgort will display burning death animations.

A purple aura and large musical notes and symbols float around the focus.
Leaves notes as footprints (even if another legendary weapon is equiped).

Based on the wiki the first is the Flameseeker, the offhand shield. The second being the Howler, the offhand warhorn, this is the Rodgort and lastly the minstrel.
This points out that even though this minstrel has two effects only there is still footprints. Something everything else does.

The flameseeker is most diffidently without a doubt lacking visual effects.

Hey everyone! It’ll be good to work with the community to make sure all of the most important items for the dungeon and fractal groups get captured and constantly communicated with Anet’s team! I really look forward to helping bridge whatever gap there may be between the developers and the players.

Returning with friends and we go wtf...

in Living World

Posted by: Riku.4821

Riku.4821

It seems like to me the original poster gave up.
I would like to bring to the table a few things.
1. Brand new players should not bother trying to play any of the living story. This takes place a few years after their personal story missions, thus spoiling them.
2. There business model might not be the greatest, but living world story chapter 1 isn’t the type of content you can just replay, since it altered the game world in real time.
3. The game is you buy it once and you have what’s in the box for ever no payment again. This excludes seasons of living story, as it was added afterwards, and a few permanent things adds to the base of the game, is level 80 dungeon, silver wastes etc.

Please try to understand these few points and the good points fellow gamers added on work around to the unlocking of content. This is a great game by itself without the need to do the living story, so just play what you have and enjoy it while working your way up to play HoT.
Cheers.

The point was to have it be for Guild Wars 1 players who achieved great things in the first game, this can include the Expansion and Campaigns. I feel the skins are fine as are in my honest opinion. I"m only currently 13/30 for skins but I feel they are worth the time it took to do so. Don’t forget that the fun in getting the HoM is to actually play Gw1 and enjoy the game.

Complete World Map.

Riku.4821

But what is the reason to make those characters, if not to play through them?
If the leveling via map complete is such a pain craft your way to 80 and be done with it.
If you do not make a character to play it through the entire game, why make one? I’ve gotten 9 level 80’s 1 with 100% map complete the rest are roughly half way there. I am not one who loves map complete, but I do enjoy playing my characters as the character and not just another profession X to level 80. Granted I do a good amount of crafting and dungeons on said characters.

In my opinion I’d say switch it up a bit. If you truly enjoy this game. Play with the restriction of the trading post, way points, collections(what you already own), world map, etc. Although this could be fun to some, but not others. It’s always worth experimenting.

Why cant we have difficult content?

I think that some content was hard content, but the community fool proofed it with how to complete the events making them easier, and then casuals complained it was to difficult and caused it to get slowly easier.

Not to mention the elitists out there who max out completely and make the game itself a cakewalk for them.

I’d like to get Teq like bosses, which actual mechanics but not so easy.

Low Damage != Fun

Riku.4821

… Have you not been paying attention to PVP balance issues at all?

Celestial has become dominant and the two professions with the best might stacking PVP builds (Engi/Ele) have been running wild. Might is quite powerful and these professions using a celestial amulet which should mean they have weaker damage are able to compete with other professions that are using higher power amulets because they can make up the difference through might.

That’s been a common cry for the last few months.

Also, apparently you haven’t been paying attention to the PVE meta either, as stacking in corners has been out of it for months as well. Corners were something used for FGS rushing, it allowed insane damage as you stacked the fields of the rush. That was nerfed. So after that people stopped using corners as it takes time to get an enemy in a corner, or it takes a defiance stack. The only people using corners still are PUGs who don’t think for themselves and are simply replicating the strategies of the past while wasting time and often hindering their performance in worse ways (Why pull the Slaver in CoFp1 to the wall when you can IB5 him, and burn him down without worrying about being attacked? Same goes for say Alpha in COE and other bosses).

You’re speaking on things you clearly know nothing about.

You said yourself, that stacking might and in a corner is-and is not still used. Organized groups don’t stack in corner because they can do it without that, pugs do because they can’t. Would you not say PvP is the same way? I see plenty of organized groups deal with all sorts of people, even outnumbered have no problem with anything. Yet pugs do.

Did you ever think that Celestial Engineers and Elementalists builds do well because celestial works best for those classes? And again you said yourself, it’s nothing but a cry. I’ve noticed more of a problem from stealth backstabbing thieves than Cele Ele or Engineers, but that is my own personal reasoning. And Might is simply a boon, and a stacking boon. Remove it and the problem is gone.
125 power is not a huge ‘nerf’. Boons has its own whole set of problems that is another topic for another day.
The community is crying over spilled milk.
I also kindly ask you don’t insult others over simple matters.

PS: I speak on behalf of my personal experiences. And with that said, every group of PvE I join, it resorts to Might stack and or Corner stack. Yet Every Dungeon I myself run I do not resort to either of those methods. Every PvP event I do, I have no problems with Might Celestial Elementlists or Engineers. On My Personal Experience.

It adds a lot of replay value. Each race and each profession have their own animation and a limited difference in sounds. To me that in itself is its own game. Players who actually care for the character they play could see the replay value. It’s the people who just want to rush to the end, complain about the game and make gold who don’t see replay value.

Unskippable cinematics

Riku.4821

The cinematics (if you’re speaking of the current living story ones) were simply amazing and a great piece or work. So what if you need to watch it over and over, it’s a good art piece. And as you said. Just minimize it and go watch a youtube video or go wiki something.

But I will have to agree on the removal of the option, as it is something that people should have the option to do. But to me this isn’t a big deal worth complaining over.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/preview-of-upcoming-balance-changes/

Overall a lot of the changes are positive, but we are once again seeing unjustifiably large damage nerfs for PvE because of changes that are inspired by PvP/WvW-related activity [-cough- d/d elementalists in celestial -cough-].

Might: The power and condition damage provided by this boon have been reduced from 35 per stack to 30.

If might’s efficacy is a problem in PvP, then why not do exactly what you did there with what you did with confusion…?

Confusion: The effect of condition damage on confusion has been increased by 33% in PvE only. This change does not affect PvP or WvW.

Why is this change not separated like the above?

Changes like this only further alienate the people who enjoy optimizing their gameplay. While I have no problem with changes, it’s just annoying to constantly see combat efficacy in PvE repeatedly decreased as a consequence of something completely irrelevant in another game mode.

Also:

Invigorating Precision: The health gain from this trait on a critical strike has been increased from 8% of damage dealt to 15%.
Dev note: This trait was very hard pressed to return health of much value, so we increased the amount of health rewarded by a significant percentage.

top kek

Seriously. Why aren’t balanced changes between PvP and PvE separated?

They mentioned nothing about this change being because of PvP/WvW or else they’d change it for that game type. These changes are because of the PvE balancing.

The 5 power reduction from each might stack, 125 power total removed. Has almost no real damage ‘nerf’, if you’re already Optimized for “I wanna be the very best, that there ever was” You still are with or without this change.

Care to substantiate your claims of that it’s for PVE balancing?

If it is, isn’t that simply promoting poor play (those who don’t apply might) and hurting good play (those who do stack might). That’s pretty sad for a game that’s always tried to make active and good play beneficial.

They stated nothing saying this is due to PvP reasons. It would be idiotic to say, “in pvp might is over used and over powered so we will nerf it in PvE instead”. Clearly this is due to the game not being up to par to their standards. I for one would not say stacking might and going into a corner like some kittenroach is ‘good’ and most diffidently not active play.

I’m 2200+ hours in the game with one map complete, and 18 characters, 9 level 80s. And I have no problem with the need to redo map complete.

I don’t see how their deaths put you at fault, if anything you’re better than they were because you survived. It is true that Ranger, Necromancers, and Engineers are the least wanted classes. I for one don’t care what profession you play, as long as you know how to play it and can listen to what I’ve got to say. I hate people who play meta builds, then blame people for doing poorly, the build means nothing. You’ll just have to find a party who are nice enough to not be jerks about silly things. Feel free to add me if you wish for that experience.

PS: For the person on the first page saying to blame the dev’s for the game being bad. The game works just fine thank you very much. It’s the community that’s lazy and want no fun just rewards to cover up as “fun”.
I run dungeons with minimal corner stacking and I get the same rewards you do and 10 times the fun.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Riku.4821

Riku.4821

This is my opinion on the new system.
The Good:
Daily system takes a bit longer for newer players, this gives them more things to do; so they get stuck to the game more. Yet it lets veteran’s of the game finish it within an hour or so, depending on when events are going on.
The Bad:
The new system is clearly tailored to new players, with a small mix of veteran type of events. A good chunk of it is ‘map complete’ objectives, pvp and wvw type objectives; with the rare event or dungeon daily.
With the removal of monthly and the replacement of log-in rewards I feel the daily system was worsened. We use to get a laurel every time we got our daily done, now all we get is 10AP and some, usually mediocre reward. I personally feel boss event and pvp rewards are the only good and useful rewards from the daily, and those alone do not equal the old daily system’s reward.
I also feel the log-in reward, although nice, do not substitute the monthly-daily rewards. In the long run they out-reward daily and monthlies together, but that doesn’t mean they should have replaced them.

Thief Ascending: Vitality vs Precision

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Riku.4821

Riku.4821

So, it boils down to:

  1. Stat Priority for a Thief?
  2. Valkyrie or Berskerker for my use?
  3. Valkyrie or Berserker for the market? Provided self-made Ascended armour is salable to begin with.

It all boils down to what you wish do to.
Berserker’s(Zerker) is the most widely known stat to use for all situations.
Lets break down the stats themselves and see what is useful.
Power: Raw Damage
Precision: Increases your chance to critical hit.
Ferocity: Increases the damage done when landing a critical hit.
Vitality: Increases your health.
Toughness: Decreases Damage received.

With that said a thief in PvP is much different than a thief in WvW or PvE.

PvE You usually have a group with your in events or dungeons to let you get boons and defense from them. So using berserker’s gear is okay here.

PvP It’s usually stealth and back stabs for a good chunk of damage, so critical damage is important, not so much defense. So Assassin’s or Zerker’s is good there.

WvW is a bit different, sure you have boons from allies, but it isn’t as organized as a PvE event. and The other team will be using skills on you at a large quantity. So a stat like Valkyrie mixed with berserk or assassin’s works great here. You get the raw power from both stats, the critical damage from both stats, and then a mix of precision or vitality from them.

For example, Valkyrie Armor, Assassin’s Weapons and Berserker’s Trinkets.
This will give you Vitality to give you some leverage to get hit once or twice, Raw Power and Critical chance and Critical Damage.

While playing guild wars 2 I"ll get random lag caused by my entire PC stuttering and it seems ONLY when playing GW2. If I’m listening to something on youtube, like woodenpotatoes, and playing GW2 all visual and audio will stutter for a good 5 seconds.

My first guess was GPU, but then I noticed it was the sound as well. Could this be Audio I thought. But if the entire thing stutters would that not mean its CPU problem?
Specs:
RAM 16gb 1600
CPU i7 2600k 3.40
GPU AMD 7970 3gb
SB Sound Blaster Z

2 HDDs

Also do note this is a fairly new problem and not right after I upgraded my SB(newest upgrade)

CDI-Guilds- Raiding

in CDI

Posted by: Riku.4821

Riku.4821

Raiding Overview:
Time limits, dungeon mechanics, and Chain Events are the topics of this proposal.

Goal of Raiding:
The goal to this is to bring Raids into Guild Wars 2 using the core elements already embedded into the game. In addition to bring more players into the game, keep veterans in the game and bring back older players.

Raiding Functionality
The Raiding function will run similar to what you’d see in fractals of the mists and world bosses such as Tequatl the Sunless. The raid will have multiple levels where once completed it will bring you to the next part of the raid. The difference between Raids and FotM will be difficulty, party size, format, and content. Other mechanics are always welcome, such as; mistlock instability, jumping puzzles, and hidden item location.
You may want a checkpoint system for people getting left behind for things such as jumping puzzles.

The Content of the raids I’d rather leave to the designers, but each “level” of the raid should be similar to world bosses minus the constant 15 minute timer. Each phase, or level, will be a large meta event chain meant for a large party to do. these events should force players from time to time, to split up and do things that cannot be done with the “stacking” meta. This can be done via boss mechanics and occ content.(think similar to Dredge FotM) But at a larger scale.

Associated Risks
The risks of adding raid are a few things.
first people may be expecting a WoW type of raid which does not work well with Guild Wars 2 Concept or mechanics.
second difficulty scaling and current meta causing problems within the community. (stack and swing = loot)
third being AI mechanics of being dragged into a wall and DPS’d.
lastly…. Elitism.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Example:
Raid 1:
Power/Stealth/Teamwork base level.
Floor 1- Collect Bombs and kill some Elite/ Legendary scouts. Blow up entry door.
Floor 2- Sneak past patrol units and continue to room XYZ. Kill Legendary Commander.
Floor 3- Split into X groups of Y and go into Z different rooms to activate a switch that will open a door in the main room. These X groups will have one member using a switch while the other 3 kill normal and vet mobs(9/1 ratio). the last team then runs into the room that will open when the others open it and kill a Champion of some sort. All progress to next floor.
Floor 4- Group tackles groups of champions head on to progress to the main room of this floor. After the main room is a trap room where X people must defuse different bombs while the rest defend players killing hordes of normal mobs and a few champions, coming in three different directions. When completed go to fifth room.
Floor 5- Last room for level 1 Raid Instance. Group faces 6 max difficulty mobs in groups of 2 coming from two directions and must kill them before they reach the main room. These bosses will ignore player interaction and are immune to cripple For the amount of enemies that pass and get into this room final boss difficulty increases(think of Lupi).
Floor 5.5- Reward room.

Raid 2:
Toughness base level.
Raid 3:
Stealth base level.
Raid 4:
Teamwork base level.
Raid 5:
Power non crit base level.
^ examples to break the meta, does not have to be used.

If players fails
leave raid.
else continue next raid.
^ this would be used for any part of the raids.

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

I think the new conversion is fine IF and ONLY we are not required to get a minimum of 400 Gems. Bring back the option to get 10 gems if need be. When that is done everything will be fine and dandy.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

Proposal for Tyria Wide Guild Halls
Simple idea of guild halls across the entire map in Guild Wars 2.
Obviously we cannot have open world guild halls, so my proposal is that you add a guild hall emblem on the floor of where the guild hall will be and the guild banner for the guild owning that hall. The guild can purchase these after maxing out the guild and place the banner on a preset guild hall emblem. These emblems must have a lot of locations, once all locations in a map are taken no more could be created.

Goal of Proposal
The problem here is guild halls on paper would be best in open world not instance, but unless there is a generic new island, say in the heart of the mists, that is not possible.
My fix to this is to add a “portal” to connect the two instances. As my proposal says a guild emblem on the floor with a guild banner/flag of that guild that currently owns the guild hall.

Guild Hall Functionality
This theory will work and function properly within Guild Wars 2. Again guild missions are already in effect and in my theory guild halls will use that in addition to one more feature. Upon clicking the banner you’ll be sent to the guild hall. If the Guild hall is located in the NSP it will be mountain like and snowy, with or without Norn themed buildings. While say Queensdale would be Human or Centaur themed. etc etc. Either these can be isolated by themselves as an instance or all of them together in one huge instance separated by a far distance and floating islands (in the air). You could see the foggy shape of the next guild hall next to you but cannot get detail (to lower performance costs).

As a guest you can visit but cannot use any of the vendors or interact with any of the “guild hall item and activities”. This lets you see how the guild is set up and help assist in seeing if that guild is the guild you want to join. Additionally all the guild information can be displayed here according to the guild leader. Think of it like a message of the day but for the guild as a whole that others can view.

For guild vs guild, guild halls could be used for this by creating a map for GvG below the islands, and either use portals from the guild hall to that map, or jump below and instantly teleport there.

Lastly winning or losing a war with a guild can give a chance of losing or gaining a guild hall. this would add dedication to the guild for winning, as a server is to WvW in a sense. (this idea is more of a WIP thought needing a lot more thought and planning. It should be included much later than actual guild halls.)

Associated Risks
I see the risk being lag and frame rate issues along with a few other performance problems. Exploits may be a problem but I cannot predict what they could be.
As for the WIP thought I fear people complaining about losing their guild hall being an issue. A hopeful fix is adding a rematch option to fight that guild with priority over others to win it back.

Guild Interface and Guild Halls Overview.
Design the UI for the Guild panel to be current like the Wardrobe or Gem Store/Trading Post.

Goal of Changing the UI and adding Guild Halls.
Some people, mostly new players have a hard time navigating through the menus. The new UI is simple yet flexible.

Guild Halls have been something that players have wanted and were promised since day one. Guild Halls will also help making guild meetings easier to manage. More could be brought into this.

Guild UI and Guild Hall Functionality
The UI should work just as it works now with the current UI for the Trading Post and Gem Store.
ideas such as adding the Guild World events into the Guild Halls, once accepted either instance everyone in the guild hall and those who enter it, to this new instance or just have a NPC to activate them there and have an Asura Gate there for the guild to the World Event.
Other ideas for the Guild Halls can be taken from GW1 as well.
Lastly the hardest task I’d say for the Guild Hall would be to have the ability to customize it fully. (Open world would also be great for players to show off the Guild Halls).

Associated Risks with Guild Interface changes and Guild Halls.
I See no risks with changing the UI for the Guild Panel.
Risks for Guild Halls? To many players in the game after Guild halls are released.
But in all seriousness, I don’t see a risk here either.

Curious question for dev's.

I was wondering the other day while going through my emails. Why does Guild Wars 2 not have in-game moderators? Does A-net think their report system is sufficient enough to cease the need of moderators in game? Is that concept merely a Eastern MMO company thing?

Sorry I believe I confused many people about the fan, I have a fan on my desk, the entire thing fits in my hands, and that fan alone competes with loudest noise with my computer while both are on and I am playing games. So the question is, am I just being picky or uneasy with the sound my pc is making when in fact it is normal.

Hmm so is it perhaps that my pc is not actually performing louder than it should be?
For example I have a fan a small fan a bit larger than a medium sized palm and that alone is competing for the loudness with my PC.
