I play dungeons and such to have fun, but it sure would be nice to get some pretty and shiny pixels out of all of my hard work at the end of the day. That’s why I like content with good reward schemes and dislike content with poor reward schemes.
Pretty sure it’s in-game in PvE as the shoulder armor for heavy L80 rare gear. Check it out on the TP!
I don’t agree with insulting people or talking down to people, but NoTrigger is right; if you laugh and scoff at someone saying that a Guardian does more damage than a Warrior, you are wrong, and there are lots of links to videos and other threads discussing it scattered throughout this thread.
For the record, I melee everything on my Guardian. The only time I range anything is when I am eating dinner and doing legendary Grawl boss in F48 at the same time.
EDIT: And when I do that, I use the scepter. Staff-camping Guardians make baby Jesus cry.

I’ve read all of the posts in this thread, and I just want to emphasize and chime in that colesy’s statements are all correct. Guardians have incredible DPS on par with less supporty classes, and in the pub scene, their support makes them invaluable to help carry bad players who lack DPS or lack talent or both. In guild runs, you see a much more diverse class setup because everyone knows their roles sufficiently and they can complement each other well.
Of course, that’s strictly PvE. In WvW and PvP, other classes and setups shine in different ways.
My favorite BL Chest drops are 5 Transmutation Crystals (Fine).
It’s a new week and we’re still beating strong on the drum! Challenges and puzzles tomorrow, bounties the day after, and rushes the day after that. Beyond that, we’re doing lots of random dungeons for tokens and fun, and we’ve been pushing a lot of our second and third alts higher into Fractals nightly.
We’d love to have some talkative and fun people tagging along with us, if you’re that kind of person and might be interested! Let us know and we can chat it up.
Best place to farm them is to do CoF p1 once then buy them on the TP.
Guild missions were good this week! Thanks to everyone who came out.
We’ve been doing lots of dungeons and a bit of WvW lately, but we’ve really been working on getting everyone through the current living story achievements. We’re going to be doing a lot of work on that over the weekend, as well as all of the other dungeons we normally do like Fractals! Let me know if any of this stuff sounds like fun, and we’d be happy to have you along for the ride.
Posting again to fix the broken second page of the thread…
I’m finally back in town, and last night we did challenges and puzzles without fail, and it went really well. Tonight will be bounties, and I’m back into the swing of things, so if you’ve ever been interested in a guild like this one, don’t hesitate to ask one of the officers! We’d love to chat and get to meet you and see if the guild is a good fit for you.
Phew, sorry about not getting back on this for awhile! I’ve been out of town!
If you’re still interested EvilBeavers, I’ll contact you, but I have been MIA for sometime so I wouldn’t personally blame you if you’d looked for other guilds as well. Either way I hope you find what you’re looking for.
New week! A lot of us have been working on Tequatl, some of us on tribulation mode (I just got my yellow skin, woo!), and some of us on other things including WvW. Either way, if you’re looking for a fun-loving, casual guild full of really good players for dungeon content, living story content, and other content, look no further. Let one of the officers know and we’d be happy to chat with you about it!
It is fun to play SAB, but the thing that keeps people coming back to content after the novelty has worn off is an effective rewards scheme. SAB sorely lacks that right now, and that is a major contributor to its current predicament.
The only problem with SAB is that it is now completely isolated. You cannot make progress on things like ascended gear, legendary weapons, or anything from within SAB. The problem is that if you play the REST of the game, then SAB is a waste of your time.
You could make SAB amazingly relevant again by changing a few things:
- Bring back Obsidian Shards / Philosopher’s Stones / Crystals for Bubbles
- Add a decent number of Empyreal Fragments to the end chests in SAB scaled based on difficulty (0 in Infantile Mode, more in TM) and world
- Bring back fun rewards like the super adventure fun box for bubbles
- Make rewards repeatable again and no longer daily gated; this change they made for this release was one of the worst they could’ve done
If people could make progress like that in SAB, Rata Sum and the SAB hub wouldn’t be desolate wastelands right now.
100% chance for an ascended weapon is stupid and invalidates too many of the other mechanisms for acquiring ascended gear.
It should simply be a 100% chance to acquire 1 “Tequatl Token” when you beat him, and only if you beat him, and with X number of these “Tequatl Tokens” (probably on the order of 20 to 30) you can buy an ascended weapon with his weapon models’ appearance that you can double-click once to choose stats on.
That way people who are REALLY good at doing the raid can work themselves toward ascended weapons, it’s still uber difficult, but the rewards become worth it because you’re actually making progress toward something meaningful.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of making them obvious like that. It defeats the purpose. It would have been far better to make them take one heart and knock you back as opposed to killing you. You still couldn’t get past them because they knock you back, but it would be easier to deal with them without just knowing exactly where they are instantly.
A developer in another thread confirmed that this was not possible within the engine currently, so they opted for an auto-kill. I personally think having them glow is a great idea.
Remember, the point of difficulty is for something to be mechanically or logically tricky, not to be frustrating. Those dart traps are far on the side of more frustrating than a meaningful enhancer to difficulty, and so this goes a long way in helping that.
Challenges and puzzles went very smoothly last night, tonight is bounties, and tomorrow is rushes! Come join us for the fun, companionship, and the commendations if you’d like! We welcome pretty much anyone so long as they’re cool, so rock on. We don’t bite (much), I swear!
Yeah, our server is pretty medium-population compared to the other servers, which is to say we still have a ton of people and have tons of players doing tons of things. Just look around and you’ll see. There are also lots of very good guilds on the server for varying types of content and of varying sizes. Depending on what you’re looking for, I’ve no doubt you can find it.
Having a suicide command would be the best option here, because I totally agree that getting stuck sucks a lot.

He just followed the guide as it is in the OP. The achievement was just bugged before and isn’t now.

And thank you, TFMurphy, for contributing to the community and brutalizing yourself to get the guide out. Looks like I can finally 100% this achievement panel tonight.

I did it last night around the exact same time as the OP’s post, and I got 33/33. You just need to make sure of a few things:
- Follow the clouds and rainbows everywhere
- Follow the smiley faces and the pointing fingers
- Stay until the end of every level
That’s how I got 33/33.
I’m still not getting one until I can get an ascended one or at least an exotic one. Rare is garbage by comparison.
Fun, but poor incentives.
It’s a new week, so popping this up for people to see!
We’ve got guild missions as usual, and we’re doing a few other funsie things as we get to them. I expect to see a lot of Super Adventure Box this week (I’m showing some people Tribulation Mode paths tonight!), and maybe we’ll also try out that new Tequatl Rising thing coming out. Either way, good times are to be had, and if you’re at all interested in the guild, don’t hesitate to let myself or one of the officers know. We’d enjoy talking to you.
I used to run PVT or whatever and defended it to no end, but then, well, I learned better. I didn’t really change how I played to get to where I am now, it just required a change in my mentality. I just came from a game where defense was important and so that thought process carried with me. Over the past year I’ve converted all of my characters into zerker everything, with other armor sets reserved strictly for WvW where the other stuff matters. I switch between them as I need, and otherwise that’s that.
There is no real stigma with berserker gear. I know for a fact that when I pug I get comments about how I ‘saved that fight’ or whatever, and people assume that because I can rally everyone else who is downed and not get downed myself that I must be using tank armor… but I’m not. I don’t have a defensive stat in my whole gear set. It’s something you just have to get used to about this game. There is no reason to wear defensive gear in team-based PvE content. For solo play in the open world, I can see some defensive runes and maybe Knight’s gear, particularly if you need condition management and your otherwise zerker build just doesn’t afford you any, but in solo play, the only person you slow down is yourself. That’s your prerogative. It’s not okay to carry that mentality over to team-based play where your competence or lack thereof can slow down everyone’s run and waste everyone’s time.
I wish everyone could come to this conclusion on their own, and see it for themselves, because then it would help everyone see what the best approach for GW2 dungeon PvE is. I, myself, am a very casual player, and yet when I enter into a dungeon, I’d like to think you could match me with members from [DnT] or whatever guild and you’d think I fit in just fine (I’ve run with a few of you guys in Arah pubs before! I like you!). The enemy isn’t the casual or the good player, it’s misinformation, and that’s what we really should be trying to quell in this forum.
Anyway, that’s my schpeal.
Just cleaned up the guild roster last night and we’re back to a very happy place to look for more active and excited players to play with. We like talkative people, but we also like people who do their own thing but tag along for the bigger things! We’re casual, but we play hard when we do top content, so we roll things like dungeons either way.
Anyway, if any of that sounds good, don’t hesitate to let one of the officers know! It would be our pleasure to chat with you and see if you’re a good fit for the guild.
Lots of fun to be had these days. Everyone is working toward the new weapons and having fun doing all of the things we normally do. Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday for guild missions if you need them! If you’re interested in the guild, don’t hesitate to let one of the officers know and we’ll take care of you!
Why are the material requirements for a dagger, which I need two of, the same as for a freaking great sword?
The same reason why Incinerator and Twilight both use a Gift of Fortune.
a 1000% increase is not a healthy economy.
is a mess
Was sure healthy for my account wallet, though.
Successful on our guild missions as usual! We’ve had a few new people and they’re great, and we’re working on culling out a few inactives as well to keep the roster fresh and clean. If you are interested in the sort of guild we’re offering, please don’t hesitate to let one of the officers know! We’d love to talk to you more about the guild, and maybe show you what we’re about.
Bah, I can’t even say something nice to someone on the internet without being wrong!
I fixed it.
So you’re saying…. It’s a bad day to buy wine?
But it’s a great day to drink it!
The above poster is a scholar and a lady and she is absolutely right about the music.

Seriously, if this can’t be resolved in-game for technical reasons, then compensation is in order for the affected players. Mail them the karma and the other rewards to make up for this and then people will call it square. The notion that we just have to “deal with it” is unacceptable, and totally uncharacteristic for an otherwise helpful and customer-driven company like ArenaNet.
It was Kralkatorrik’s master plan all along; cut off supply lines from Elona so it’d cost more to upgrade cores into lodestones! Curse you to the Underworld, elder dragons!
I think, realistically, this was made in an attempt to increase the ‘value’ of Karma, by making it so you can’t obtain Obsidian Shards via Baubles any more. Still, kind of sucks, but it is what it is.
Calm down, everyone, it wasn’t intended.
Dev response: ‘This is definitely not intended. Thanks for the reports, all. The team is aware of this problem and they are working to resolve it.’
Thank goodness. I will wait for the fix, then. Thanks for that link.
Yeah, I have to agree that this is really bad. If they wanted to add new things, they should have ADDED NEW THINGS, not taken away old things that we’d already been working on for a few days. This is poor practice and the removed options should be added back.
Challenges and Puzzles today, Bounties tomorrow, and Rushes Thursday! All of this and more as we are going to be having SO MUCH FUN going through the Super Adventure Box!! If anyone wants to tag along, don’t hesitate to let one of the officers know! We’d love to meet and greet you and show you what it’s all about.
It took me 95 tries, but I finally achieved Light Up the Darkness.
I did it as a Guardian using the following build:
0/30/10/30/0
Scepter/Focus + Staff
Knight’s Armor + Soldier’s Runes
Berserker Ascended Trinkets
Asura Arena
Shelter, Hold The Line, Retreat, Stand Your Ground, Renewed Focus
Mango Pie + Superior Sharpening Stone
I played phase 1 with the staff, and then phase 2 with the scepter/focus for dps. The challenge was making sure I damaged her consistently throughout the entire fight so I could finish her off once I managed to get 8 orbs. Getting 8 orbs with this build is still very tough and requires you play perfectly, but it’s doable thanks to a combination of high precision (and thus perma Vigor), clearing 2 conditions per shout (1 becoming a boon), and three ‘invuls’ (Renewed Focus + Focus 5 + Heal). The real challenge is doing it fast enough that you have enough time to really kill Liadri, hence so much berserker gear in the mix.
This was a very painful achievement for me because it depended so heavily on where the orbs spawned (RNG) and when the visions decided to explode (sometimes melee as intended, sometimes at long range for whatever reason). Once I finally rolled a perfect setup, I executed perfectly, and won with 2 seconds left on the timer. I am so glad it’s over, and I feel the pain of everyone still trying to get it in these last waning hours of the living story event.
You all can do it, and hopefully my information here helps. Cheers.
Been a good week with the guild! Got a few GREAT new members, and are definitely looking for more! Let us know if you’re around and want to hang out with us, because we’d love to have you. Regardless, have a great weekend.
Popping this up for the new week. Thanks for all the interest guys, and remember, if you’re looking for something casual on or around SBI, give us a holler! We’d love to have you around for the ride.
Hey, sorry about that.. These past few days have been really challenging for me IRL, so I’ve been a bit slow to respond to stuff here. You know how that REAL LIFE thing goes sometimes, haha. I’ll contact you in-game, Tallos.
Anyway, we did challenges/puzzles/bounties last night because we’re awesome and I couldn’t be on yesterday, and today is rushes. It’ll be good times. Message me if anyone reading this is interested in the guild! In-game messages tend to have the best chance at getting through to me in a timely manner!
Cheers and always looking forward to meeting new people.
Thanks for the bump Sky!
Yeah, oi, I’ve been super busy, so I haven’t been as diligent about this thread as I’d like to be. That all said, we succeeded at challenges and puzzles Tuesday, we succeeded at Bounties last night, and tonight is rushes! We still do random stuff all the time, too! If you’re still interested in the guild, please don’t hesitate to let one of us know!
I’m going to add the contact information of a few of our other officers to the OP in case I’m busy as well. Feel free to mail any of them!
Phew! Challenges and Puzzles were last night, and we crushed ’em! Bounties tonight! Let me know if you want to tag along or know more about the guild.
Hi Oxy. Thanks for that!
Happy Sunday everyone! We’re still chugging all guild missions every week!
We’ve been having good times doing our missions. We’ve since added Puzzles to the roster, and we’re currently doing them on Tuesdays with Challenges. Let me know if you’d like to join us for them or learn more about the guild in general!
