Never hurts to make it perfectly clear.

But it does seem like they are starting to. Nothing in this stuff so far that is real-money RNG gated. I hope it stays that way.

Evon stands for commerce, if you want to send a message to the Gods then make it the right one.

Tell them a true man works for his reward.
Tell them they expect to get out what they put in.
Tell them each individual is in charge of their own destiny.

Vote for Evon. Vote for commerce. Vote for the future of Lion’s Arch.

Do not throw your vote away on Kiel, who sits atop her throne of gold from her Sunshore Supply Crate scam. Down with RNG, down with Kiel.

Privately owned ship? Sorry, but no.

That was Lionguard ship that she knowingly scuttled. No lives were lost. All that were lost were Consortium contracts that were knowingly signed by people under a lot of stress who didn’t know what they were signing.

Now if you look at who is in charge of the Lionguard, you will see that it is Magnus, the Bloody Handed. Who I believe approved of Kiel’s actions (if you watched the cutscene after the ship was scuttled). The same Magnus who is vying to get her seated alongside himself in the Captain’s Council.

So before you accuse her of terrorism, you may want to check your facts.

I suppose they were magical ships that sailed themselves. You’re living in a dream world.

Magnus may well be as culpable as Kiel, clearly she has to have some co-conspirators in order to avoid any official investigation in to her blowing up ships.

>All that were lost were Consortium contracts that were knowingly signed by people under a lot of stress who didn’t know what they were signing.

Are you implying that Norn and Char are incapable of reading? No, what really happened is that a few layabouts took advantage of Consortium resources and then wanted to slip out of their obligations without fulfilling their obligations.

Who knows how much of their ill-gotten gains they slipped under the table to Kiel to encourage her terrorist activities.

The BLT has sold RNG boxes such as Rich Dragon Coffers and Southsun Crates. Lets not forget that!

Yes, and the Southsun Crates were shipped in from Southsun, most likely originating from Kiel or one of her cronies. And the Dragon Coffers were provided by the Lion’s Arch Council.

Evon just runs the marketplace, he isn’t responsible for the items listed within.

These Kiel propagandists have lost their minds.

The Black Lion Trading Company works hard to construct keys for chests found out in the world, for very little profit.

Yet here we have people complaining about what they find in the boxes that those keys open. Evon has no control what you find in boxes found at the bottom of the sea or inside a volcano.

You think Evon personally goes around handing boxes to Skelk, or chucking them inside of Orrian horrors just so you’ll buy keys? Ridiculous.

It’s time to bring sense back to this debate. If you don’t want keys then don’t buy them, but considering how many unopenable boxes there are sitting on the Trading Post it’s clear that Evon is providing a needed service to greater Tyria.

Imagine if the BLTC decided to halt production of keys, we’d be drowning in unopenable boxes. I don’t see anyone else working on this problem.

Friends, it is common knowledge that Captain Ellen Kiel was instrumental in the terrorist bombing of privately owned ships on the shore of Southsun Cove. The loss of life and property was substantial by all accounts.

Yet has this terrorist been charged for her crimes? Has there even been an investigation in to these and her other devious crimes?

Since the leadership of Lion’s Arch has clearly decided to pull the wool over their eyes it is up to us, true citizens of Lion’s Arch, to enact justice with our own hands.

I call on all who cannot stand injustice to locate and place Captain Ellen Kiel under citizen’s arrest so she may answer her misdeeds.

Is there a solution to this that would keep people playing the mini-games as intended?

Incredibly easy. Just don’t make dailies that reward things other than winning.

0/1 Keg Brawl Wins should be the only achievement in Keg Brawl.

As to farming assists, I’ve played over 800 Keg brawls and am coming close to my 500 wins. In all that time I’ve gotten 136/500 assists. The way assists work is illogical, and cannot be gained legitimately except in the rarest of circumstances and only at the expense of your teams performance.

According to ChrisCleary on Reddit (who has the ANet symbol so I assume he works at ANet) the reason my account was flagged was due to me sending Dragon Bash candy to guild mates and having them send it back to my account.

This apparently tripped a flag as the value of the items has increased dramatically since the event finished meaning the candy was worth a lot of gold.

All the candy originated from my account, and no gold changed hands.

I hope this can be resolved ASAP.

100 gold to play a mini game

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: Risingashes.8694

Risingashes.8694

But the important thing is if you don’t want to pay 100g you don’t have to. As many people have said already you can play against NPCs for free, or buy the cheaper kits to play against other people.

No one is saying that you have to play the minigame, that’s a strawman argument.

What we’re saying is that 100g is too expensive compared to the benefit. At this price people will do the achievements and then never use the game ever again.

Keg Brawl has a hard enough time getting players and that is a free activity.

People are comparing this to other unlimited use items, but they’re not equivelent. The other unlimited use items are giving a specific benifit to the player, they’re valuable due to convieniance.

This item isn’t convenience, it’s the only way to experience this activity. It’s akin to making the trading post vendor ONLY available via the unlimited item (or the limited use item).

If there were player vs player stalls set up in LA this wouldn’t be an issue- but there aren’t, and with this 100g item existing there isn’t likely to be.

Best just to report the trolls Gele.

The video was spot on. Really highlighted the problem of episodic content’s impact upon story quality, and gave some good suggestions on how to address this.

Woodenpotatoes is really passionate about the lore, so it’s not surprising the current presentation is annoying him. Hopefully ANet listens and adds some features which allow for a more compelling narative.

Coincidentally, the whole rivalry between the human and Char, may actually be a huge leap in the right direction. We’ve had a cutscene, an introduction, we’ve met them again, and data mining has shown we’ll be able to ‘pick sides’.

This could really be the first piece of story content where we’re able to actually feel something about the characters, instead of them just appearing, doing stuff, then standing around somewhere. Let’s hope.

Agreed OP. Nothing even compares to the Clock Tower. Failing other puzzles is just tedious, failing the clock tower was a learning opportunity that was engaging despite running the same section over and over again.

If they allowed custom pve servers I’d just host a clocktower 24/7, host some tournies. Would likely be the most fun I’d ever have in the game.

@Wolfheart.1938 Yes they certainly are buggy. The second leap-pad after the top of the ship drops momentum completely on 30% of jumps.

The jump-pads also don’t register movement correctly and don’t grant the higher jump consistently.

Who is right/wrong?

Obviously, nobody here is right/wrong. However: if you find the content too easy, that sucks for you, but you still get the achievements. If you find the content too hard, that also sucks for you, but you do not get the achievements.

Even if I personally found the AR easy as eating ice cream, I would still think that the latter outweighs the former.

Giving players difficult content trains players for future content. The problem is that ANet have been handing people easy content for so long that they’ve never actually needed to learn how to be competent. For people who were already competent from previous games this is fine, but the dungeon was designed poorly so trash mobs did not introduce mechanics properly in a way that would implicitly teach people how to deal with the more complicated mechanics introduced in boss fights.

This is the issue. Poor design.

But the difficulty itself is great and should be continued. Everyone shouldn’t be getting every achievement. That’s what achievements are, things people achieve. Otherwise they should just be called Participations.

Stop making excuses. I’m full zerk, I did the instance in pugs full of fairly bad players. Gear isn’t the problem, the problem is that people (and you) are blaming outside factors for their failure instead of trying to use the tools available to them to beat what is in front of them.

Risingashes.8694

Sorry, but this group is amazing because of our ability to have fun, and work together. We have had no issues with any other dungeons. We figure out the mechanics, and work quite well at solving them.

This however was beyond our abilities. We all knew what to do, but simply couldn’t do it. After hours of trying we got sick of trying and gave up. We knew the mechanics, we knew what the solution was, but we couldn’t make it happen.

While I appreciate your feedback, to generalize and assume that we’re just “not good enough” to complete the dungeon is a tad insulting.

And yet it is fully possible to complete the dungeon with a pug-group, even for a average player as myself.

Which part is it that is currently the issue?

If you knew what was happening and what to do but yet couldn’t doing there were clearly something done wrong somewhere.

The part that is the issue is that ANet’s solution to difficulty is to up the damage and things than damage, to the point where players spend more time getting knocked down, than actually playing.

For example. When fighting Mai, I am running around avoiding getting bombed because the bombs can knock off a bunch of my damage, making me unable to effectively fight Mai (when shields are down). The problem is, that if I stray too far, she will shadow lunge at me, and insta-kill me.

So, while I understand what to do…I am unable to complete the task because despite doing what is needed, the mechanics have been designed so unless I am of a specific build, level, or whatever….I run the risk of instantly dying.

Then, the problem is that my group, who is trying their best to not die as well, are tasked with trying to get me back up. The problem is that the fight has almost no pauses, so they risk getting killed trying to get me up.

Then, even if they get me up. I’m so low on HP, that trying to recover, while avoiding another insta-kill from Mai, long enough to get to the cannon fire….which insta-kills me.

So, while you may argue that suddenly my build sucks (even though I’ve been able to get through almost all the other content), the fact is that the mechanics are too unforgiving for me to be able to complete the dungeon. I’m not sure what I could do beyond being forced to create another class.

Mate, really. You don’t know what you’re doing.

Stop trying to make the game easier and just work at being a competent player. I know it’s frustrating that you failed for 3 hours, but that isn’t a problem with the game- it’s a problem with you and your team.

The mechanics aren’t cheap, or random, they’re just not easy enough that mashing random keys would allow victory.

Nothing wrong with sounding like a communist, it means you possess something rare in this day in age: actual empathy.

What about empathy for people who want a challenge? If something is completable by everyone it has to be so easy as to be boring for the majority.

The entire game is easy beyond belief, why does this particular fight have to be easy also. Go do easy things if that’s what your skill level is and you’re unwilling to work at improving.

Suggestions for the Mai Trin fight

in Sky Pirates of Tyria

Posted by: Risingashes.8694

Risingashes.8694

>Firstly, the cannon barrage goes on for WAY too long, and it can be almost impossible to dodge it at times.

Speed buffs allow you to outrun the shots. The shots target individuals, this means you can group up and avoid all shots very easily, or split up to 5 corners of the room and dodge the single barrages heading your way.

Both methods are not faceroll easy, but they are very straightforward unless you are not competent enough to play games in general.

>Secondly, the shields she has are an interesting mechanic and works well, but I feel she has too many stacks of them, which just drags the fight out.

Grasps, freezes, snares will all keep her in the field enough to take off 5 of her stacks per go. Making sure everyone is just outside her melee range means that the shots are all going to land very close to her, meaning you’re far more likely to be able to grasp/freeze/snare her within it.

Your group is likely not thinking about how to work together, and instead trying to max range her in the hopes of surviving individually. The problem isn’t with the boss, it’s with your approach to it.

Luckily if you learn how to play properly ANet can throw some more interesting boss encounters at us in future instead of meatshields.

It’s strange that Jorbreaker’s have been far too expensive when compared to simply buying the wings themselves throughout the entire event. Currently buying the wings with Jorbreakers would cost 70g, whereas they’ve been 12g for days on the TP.

Was the droprate for the wings higher than intended, or was the Jorbreaker price just a huge miscalculation?

Also what happens when the event ends? With no other use for Zhaitaffy other than at the Zhaitaffy vendor the item will be literally useless- unlike Halloween and Wintersday items which are only essentially useless as they have full-time recipes associated with them.

2. Increase TP selling unlock: Sick of getting ‘error’ message when trying to sell more than 7 items in a row. Increase to 14 and I’d gladly pay for it.

3. Waypoint unlock: Allow us to buy waypoints so that they would be free from that point on.

4. Customisable PvP arenas: With actual customisation- up to 50 players, up to 10 teams, add treb and other special features to maps other than the intended ones, disable and add capture points, disable names, ban classes, ban specs. Basically the ability to completely alter the tone of the game rather than just being teams of 5 or teams of 10.

5. Disable NPC speech popups: These annoy me so much that I’d gladly pay money to be able to disable the kitten things, although this should be a basic feature.

6. More bag slot unlocks: Make them cost an increasing amount of gems rather than a hard cap. Up to 3 is 400 gems, 4 is 500 gems, 5 is 600 gems etc.

7. More bank slot unlocks using the same logic as above.

Apparently not. Apparently due to computing magic making stacks more than 256 items doubles the storage requirement, to the point where you may as well increase the stack size to 65536 items.

In other words it’s inefficient when dealing with hundreds of millions of items.

My suggestion would change the server storage strain by 0.00001%. Comparatively efficient, while still significantly reducing player frustration.

There are a few tools which make use of the TP API floating around. I was wondering what ideas you guys had which, if implemented, would make traversing the TP a lot less frustrating?

Examples include:

  • The ability to see once buy/sell orders have been completely filled.
  • The ability to filter search results based on items not being in your buy/sell/sold/bought lists.
  • The ability to track expected salvaging results in a similar method to Spidy’s recipe calculation feature.
  • The ability to be notified when overcut or undercut.

I’m unsure how your first paragraph relates to your overall point. You suggest the reason for lack of armor sets is the difficulty of adapting to 5 races, 2 genders, yet then seem to abandon the idea and suggest making new sets regardless.

You suggest making armor sets with rare components, to encourage champion killing, but don’t really explain why this is a good thing. Whether the items come from nodes or champions they’re all just going to end up being put and bought from the TP anyway.

Then you suggest making them a skin, something completely unconnected to anything said earlier in the post- what is this supposed to address exactly? Why would this make your ideas more appealing and which of the ideas is it supposed to be connected to?

Lastely how do you justify devoting developer time to adding new armor to the game? What type of armor are you actually suggesting? You’ve made a post essentially saying I want more of ‘thing’ and given no details for what specific ‘thing’ you’re after and given no justification for why the hundreds of ‘thing’ already in the game aren’t adequete.

Were ANet to take your suggestion on face value they’d add a new armor set and you would undoubtedly whine about it not being the armorset you were thinking of. I didn’t want a space-cowboy set I wanted a pirate set, or I didn’t want a bandanna I wanted frilly underwear.

But because of how you’ve phrased your suggestion: how are they to know?

Removing Yourself from the Leaderboards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Risingashes.8694

Risingashes.8694

Yes. I asked for leaderboards from the beginning. Got to 28k via salvaging and was happy to have them wiped ’cause it felt like they were finally going to fix the system to make achievements based on actual achievement.

Instead dailies make up 65% of the available points (and counting) so I’m forced to log on daily (to the point I feel anxious that I’ll get sick and not be able to log on, planning out redundancy plans involving getting other people to log on for me). Luckily I’m able to stop myself before I get in to full blown psychotic overplanning and have skipped a few days when I’m tired of the BS, but being forced to play daily to compete just isn’t fun, and I know that the people I’m competing against are in the exact same boat.

I don’t want to be the king of the frustrated, or compete against attrition: he who last quits wins. They (for me anyway) have created a system where winning feels even more empty than normal, and that’s difficult when dealing with imaginary internet points.

Nup, it’s the coin. People preety much have the armor at this point and diminishing returns means running a path more than twice per day is essentially useless.

Seeing someone in full CoF just means they aren’t really interested in dungeons as a lot of the other pieces look a lot better on most classes. Arah, HoM, CoE, even AC has a lot of pieces that look wonderful. 10s per boss is just too good to pass up when you can do 3 of them in 6 minutes where other dungeons can take 20 minutes, or Arah taking over 2 hours- yet yielding the same amount of gold reward.

I wanted to start a discussion and compile a list of changes which could be done in a very short time by a developer but would make a massive difference to the enjoyability of the game.

We’d all mostly love culling to be fixed, or dungeons to be tuned, or Zhiatan to be made meaningful- but those things take a lot of effort, skill, and time. In the meantime: what have you seen ingame which could be added almost immediately but would make a significant difference in terms of having fun ingame- be it bug, UI fix, or whatever.

This doesn’t include things like “Increase drops” or “Nerf Thieves”. I’ll include a compiled list for readability below.

Actually I’m relatively sure the devs play more attention to suggestions than this forum.

Then allow me to hurt my ideas chances in peace.

Doesn’t really matter how many people see it, as long as the devs find it, which they would in suggestions. It’s a good suggestion, which sets it apart from many others, and I’m sure if you put it there, they’ll be directed to it.

Ideas only get viewed by the devs if they have replies and the only things that get replies in the suggestion forums are things such as “The game needs more clothes” or “More things should drop”, or the constant “Thieves are overpowered, nerf in unspecific or unreasonable ways”.

If the thread is moved then it’s moved, at least it would have been in a place of relevance for 1% of it’s existence instead of 0%.
