ya.
pay to play absolutely no new content.
i cant even believe how poorly this has been done.

so you guys really think this is an ok way to deal with these skins?
just to clarify, you can purchase, with irl cash, tickets for a raffle for these skins. this is ok? this isnt a p2w approach?
Its not Pay to Win it offers nothign but cosmetics. Also it is no more RNG than it was before. When they have ALWAYS been RnG, always. They came from Black Lion Chests and later from a special Mystic Forge Recipe to handle some abundance of Black Lion mats from the first year. Mystery Tonics I’m lookin’ At You!
so to me there is no difference between the two.
so these skins being the only unique skins left in the game, in combination with the manner they are handling this, is cool with you?
are we playing a p2w game now?
its madness.
lock the only exclusive skins in the game behind a massive rng paywall.
who makes these decisions?!

I can’t believe my face my I see that these skins are RNG.
Are you taking the 2 month breaks from content release to try and actively lose players?
What are others thoughts on this?
i commend the 15 page thread and the passion herein but….
if any of you think they are actually going to do something about this you will be sorely disappointed. excuse my qq but just look at how “much” we have gotten in the wvw community recently….
hey
this is what i run for my zerg build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNBHhZakjmWarpx4G+bTMMITWLYkBKQdxlJB-TlSBwAFV+tT9ng7Pc4BAYWJYkDBAK9BLOCAIM/A4EAEAABggMLFATKjA-w
this is my serious-business setup and youll survive quite well with it. if you are facing weaker groups for sure run 100% zerker but id highly recommend strength runes and even a strength sigil or two and also moving some of the traits around, specifically death perception and close to death. youll hit like a truck but you will absolutely die a lotttt more. i like the advice of 1 alive necro doing 80% of the damage of 1 dead necro is always better
either way, good luck with it
just to clarify, we got something that should have been in the game since release and nothing else of substance?
i have to laugh, as a wvw and a necro main why the kitten am i playing this game?

(is a roamer in a t2 eu server)
the wvw population, outside of reset or raid times (6-12gmt) has plummeted in the last few weeks. im very much a roamer so ill keep my comments to what i can see from that perspective:
-stale matchups: who wants to crush or be crushed by population imbalances every single week? i dont just mean ppt, i mean fights also.
-stale maps: placement/population/zero differences for how long now?
-zero emphasis on defending: why even bother ppt when, over the course of the week, the stacked server is always going to win. i dont want to use the k-word but sometimes recently wvw can just feel like a ktrain, “ok, well we cant beat them in a fight/we will crush them in a fight so lets just avoid them and recap before the tick”
-boredom: see all of the above
(this list goes on but from these points im sure most can tell its direction and i wont waste time in rehashing them).
these points are definitely issues for players at the base level. the repercussions, in terms of guilds disbanding, is a product of that (imo). and lets be fair here for a minute, i know atm we all drooling over the prospect of actual input and development from the devs but its been too long, wvw is so so stale. even, from my limited knowledge of gvg’s, the meta is old as hell there. all of this stems from a complete lack of interest from the games developers.
the people that make this game havent got a fooking clue. real talk: what you know about 1/3 of the community being completely ignored?
wvw zerg/semitank build that works very well:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNBHhZakjmeabpxmG+bTMMITeLYkBiQdxlJB-T1BBABYp8DgTAgQ7PYo+AKeCAZq+zZKBJDAzCA-w
if youre new perhaps get a grip of the class before trying roaming but when you do decide id recommend checking out a terrormancer build.
good luck with it
Op or not, the perma-stealth (coward?) builds in wvw are pretty annoying and counter-intuitive to what wvw is about.
By my own admission it would be stupid to balance anything around wvw roaming but it sure as hell would be nice if they could tone down that build a little.
delicious warrior tears
@OP:
A lot of people are giving you tips for fighting thieves or other roamers. In your case, you want to run with a commander in a group. Your spec, if done correctly, isn’t going to be great at 1v1 against anyone. Your best bet is to either run to the commander in a group, or wait for the commander to come back to spawn.
Remember: Any class in a roaming spec will beat a zerg spec 1v1. The most the zerg spec can hope to do is run away.
apologies for the double post but this is very important information. you cant really roam and zerg with the same specs/gear. if a roamer catches a lone zerger they should die as thats what the roamer is geared to do.
answer:
dire armor with perplexity runes, rabid everything else.
6/4/0/0/4 (both fear specs).
if you cant beat em cheese em.
Nice build.
I would change the runes for perplexity and the armor itself to dire.
I would also run Dhuum/Chill of Death/Signet Mastery in Spite.
On the dagger I would have a Sigil of Bursting (and the staff sigils I would use Battle and Torment/Fire, these are just personal preference tho and what you are running does make sense and seem good).
Finally, I would use Signet of Spite over spectral wall – the idea of terrormancer is to condi dump someone then fear them so they can’t clease, SoS helps greatly with this. As a general note I think when running a terror necro in a roaming situation its good to use one utility slot as a switchable one. For example, you’ll want at time to have Signet of the Locust in there for moving around, Epidemic is also great if you come across any kind of a group and of course Spectral Wall is great, particularly in EotM.
Overall tho really solid build that you will definitely kill people with!
Edit: Toxic focusing crystals might be worth experimenting with, I generally find them better than tuning crystals in a condi build.
(edited by RlyOsim.2497)
personal opinion:
there is never really a time for a /laugh at an enemy; you might have won this fight but until anet awards you ‘bes playa in gw2’ you are going to lose at some point in the same situation.
as a roamer i find people that /laugh are generally less skilled players.
if im facerolling someone i /sleep mid fight.
GWEN = 4 professions + veilbot = 5. Unless the definition of trinity has been changed that’s not 3 professions.
As said necro is only a addition that functions if the rest babysits him and mesmer is just a 2 spell bot.
these necro traits and skills say hi (standard wvw zerg necro specs):
foot in the grave
near to death
and
plague
oh and mesmer too:
null field
time warp

hi ele’s, visiting necro here working on a build.
does anyone know if ghost pepper poppers have an aoe effect?
ie: is the chill/might effect calculated per target or is it you get it once it triggers on a single target regardless of total number of potential targets?
Step 1. Don’t be on Blackgate
Step 2. Raise yourself to 80
Step 3. Join a WvW guild that is focussed on Open Field Fighting
Step 4. You will enjoy WvW.
i would add to this:
step 5. get teamspeak
only a wvw player thinks eotm is pve gone wild
(also, nice necro!)
Just you guys wait until perplexity terrormancers get a reveal, I’ll need a keg to keep all those tears in!
On a more serious note, the thief class is for the most part fine to fight against. However, the small percentage of thief players running troll-builds has steadily grown over the past weeks and the outcry about it has increased accordingly. Surely it is obvious recently that the nerf hammer was swiftly on the way to the thief class: when the entire agency of a fight is dependent upon one person there is a problem.
I hope you guys don’t get hit too hard but adjustments need to be made and it seems, as a non-thief main, that providing classes with access to revealed seems like a suitable place to start.
Just wanted to add my support to these concerns.
Also, @Roe, thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together.
hi op,
the wvw zerg meta is guardians, warriors, ele’s and necro’s. i would strongly recommend using one of those classes even if you dont initially plan on running with a zerg (sooner or later you will, even if you are a roamer).
personally id recommend a necro but im biased. if i wasnt however id probably recommend a guard or a warrior. both have quite a few builds for all aspects of wvw.
good luck with it!
Hi All,
I’ve been commanding a lot of trains in Dry Top recently in order to get geodes. The route contained below is what I’ve found to be the most efficient, hitting 2-3 events per 5 minutes. I wanted to post it up in case there were any other aspiring PvE commanders/general players looking to get a greater amount of geodes per 5 minutes.
The events are listed in the order you do them. Without any issues along the way it will result in a Tier 4 map. This path works best with a large, high dps group.
Starting at xx:00
Tendril A [&BHMHAAA=] (Always for this Tendril you need to stack outside its spawn range, this causes it to spawn in with much weaker mobs. I find stacking at the end of the ramp by where the Basket event starts to be the most efficient)
Tendril B [&BIYHAAA=]
Shaman [&BIsHAAA=]
Starting at xx:05
Light Golem [&BIMHAAA=]
Inquest Leader [&BIwHAAA=]
Colocal [&BHwHAAA=]
Starting at xx:10
Town [&BH4HAAA=]
Basket [&BHUHAAA=] (Here you may get champ spawn which confirmed drop loot. Also, due to time constraints this is generally best of start on your own while the main group is still at town in order to progress it a bit before the many players arrive. In this regard I will typically stay with the town group until the first mob is dead then rush to start basket on my own).
Starting at xx:15
Tendril A [&BHMHAAA=] (Again, make sure you stack outside of spawn range)
Tendril B [&BIYHAAA=]
Race [&BHIHAAA=] (The champs that spawn here do not drop bags, there is little point in focusing them)
Starting at xx:20
Light Golem [&BIMHAAA=]
Inquest Leader [&BIwHAAA=]
Colocal [&BHwHAAA=]
Starting at xx:25
Town [&BH4HAAA=]
Basket [&BHUHAAA=] (SEE PREVIOUS NOTE ON THIS EVENT).
Starting at xx:30
Tendril A [&BHMHAAA=] (Again, make sure you stack outside of spawn range)
Tendril B [&BIYHAAA=]
Race [&BHIHAAA=] (The champs that spawn here do not drop bags, there is little point in focusing them)
Starting at xx:35
Light Golem [&BIMHAAA=]
Inquest Leader [&BIwHAAA=]
Colocal [&BHwHAAA=]
Starting at xx:40
Haze [&BHIHAAA=]
CaveIn [&BH4HAAA=]
Starting at xx:45
(I always try to find Burglar during this 5 minute window, ask in chat often if anyone has seen it)
Devourer Queen [&BHkHAAA=]
Starting at xx:50
Haze [&BHIHAAA=]
SkrittQueen [&BIoHAAA=]
SDust [&BHoHAAA=]
Starting at xx:55
Generally here I spend 5 minutes chest hunting/buying t4 stuff/taxiing people looking for a t4 map.
That’s it! I hope this is of help to some!
Hi All,
I run a mesmer as my dungeon/pve alt. Typically I run a mantra build, with crit chance clocking in around 78%.
With this in mind I was curious as to what mesmer main players thought of this food as an option for dungeons? (Also, I understand the ICD on the might effect is 1s, with the might gained from it lasting 5s)
Plate of Roasted Cactus
+100 Ferocity
33% Chance to cause might on critical
+10% Experience from kills
condi’s are under powered in pve. pvp/wvw is a whole other story tho.
you need traveler runes.
With a (Necro) condi-build? Seriously?
mobility is a thing
^
I use speed runes personally and still have more than enough condition pressure to be scary. If you’re solo roaming, speed is very, very important. And if you don’t have access to swiftness or you aren’t using Signet Of The Locust, you better get some runes.I was just going to say that if you need the speed from runes so badly on a condi-build, you’d be better off taking speed runes, especially on Necro. Because you know… Condi-Necro weapons scale very bad with power and ferocity. You don’t get much condition-damage. You also don’t need the boon-duration on Necro. And the 10% condi-duration… well, it’s not worth enough to justify the tons of gold that those runes cost. The vitality from the runes of speed is much more helpful (also, the swiftness on being struck), and the increased swiftness-duration is nice if you’re using spectral walk.
i would disagree, the extra might duration is a lot more beneficial than the speed rune bonuses. to each their own.

there is no ‘best’ build for roaming. if you like a build/setup then run it for a bit, learn it, tweak it, then run it some more.
The thief has great mobility
The Guardian is either support or sword/xTl:Dr I would suggest:
1. Warrior
2. Elementalist
3. Ranger/Thief/Engineer
4. Mesmer
5. Guardian/NecromancerExplaination:
Warrior is highly mobile, and usually great in supporting a small roaming group.
Elementalist, has lots of combo fields. But better suited in a larger group.
R/T/E provide less group support.
Mesmer is great for portals, veil etc. But not very mobile.
You already have a Guard, and necro is quite useless for roaming.
necros, particularly condi necros are very strong roamers, especially in the current ‘condi’ meta. the condi pressure that a necro can put out is pretty stupid (see: epidemic; wellomancer; plague signet) with the support/utilities of the thief/guard it might be a nice choice. dire gear would probably work best for this particular setup.
you could probably make any toon work if you put some time and effort into the group skill dynamic.
edit: to address OP’s zerg question. the current meta is GWEN (guards, warrs, eles, necros) so any of those classes would be optimum for a move from small to large group action.
pu mesmer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> thief > rest
most classes have a roaming build, comes down to what you can play best (i main a condi necro and have little trouble with any class). that said, pu mesmer will destroy most other players of a similar skill level. thief is pretty faceroll also.
wtb question?

a lot of hate on necros in this thread!
sure in a group pve setting they are far from ideal in most situations. however, pve is just one aspect of the game. in a wvw zerg/havok group necros are pretty god teir. i dont pvp much but i roam an awful lot and in that sense of pvp there are not many classes that can stand up to a condi necro.
that said some other classes can faceroll everthing…. all hail staff 1 guardian
absolutely agree with op, great ideas. I would however be more inclined to agree with Tim’s post in that it would be keeping with the necro’s general theme. still solid ideas and a much needed discussion.
Now that you’ve mentioned it why don’t you just remove all the conditions and condition dealing classes from the game.
They should seriously give you an award for this.
omg, jinx
we should just remove conditions from the game completely, or at least make them as pointless as they are in pve.
ITT: Thief mains that dont want to accept that stealth is a broken mechanic.
The problems with stealth:
- its an offensive ability
- its a defensive ability
- its an escape ability
- its an engage ability
These on their own are, arguably, ok, it is after all a core class mechanic. However, the fact that it is spammable and accessed by a class with a huge about of mobility, pushes it way beyond balanced into broken territory.
gw2tp and gw2spidy for tp stuff.
beyond that dulfy and the wiki are all i would imagine youd need.
hey,
firstly, welcome. there isnt a whole lot you need to know about guild wars starting off. anything you do want to know just ask in game, most people will be happy to help. for a player starting off most would recommend a warrior, that said, play whatever character you like the look of, race doesnt really matter to the gameplay.
if youre looking for other new players in game there is a ‘looking for group’ tool in the game that you can put something along the lines of ‘new player, looking for other new players’ and im sure youll have a group in no time.
good luck with it!
awesome thread, tip of the hat to you sir!
question:
is rare veggie pizza overpowered?
The problems with stealth:
- its an offensive ability
- its a defensive ability
- its an escape ability
- its an engage ability
- spammable, not just a one trick pony
- you can trait it for extras
this.
im a wvw player.
the frequent (endless) access in a non objective orientated environment is beyond ridiculous.
i understand its a core component of the class but its availability needs to be looked at for the reasons listed by McWolfy.
fix yo sheet anet.
anet should just remove conditions from the game or at least make conditions as rubbish as they are in pve.
That’s not a good solution either as it just removes build diversity.
isnt that the goal here?
conditions are of zero relevance in any other aspect of the game, why should they have a use in wvw?
real wvw players log their 80 into eotm and use superior siege to kill upleveleds said no actual wvw player ever.
anyone else have further thoughts on this?
anet should just remove conditions from the game or at least make conditions as rubbish as they are in pve.
