Im honestly not sure why do you want to do everything at once, IMO the only good hybrid is power/condi which is 6/6/0/0/2. As it is epidemic only spreads mediocre damage for you, minion’s attack speed is just terrible, on top of that the signet has a long cooldown. In my opinion necro doesnt have much wiggle room with builds, its either all the way MM or conditionmancer or power/condi hybrid. Minions just don’t mix in that well with either condi or power =|

op, the last thing wvw needs is another permastealth/cheese/afraid thief running around. they are effective but its only contributing to another illness in wvw.
also, terror necros are very effective roamers.
real talk, the rewards are infinitely better in eotm.
im a solo/small group roamer that border patrols mainly.
leveling an alt from 20 to 80 in eotm i earned more wexp and badges than i would have in a month of roaming. not to mention the fact that i was leveling at a rate of 5 levels per hour in eotm.
beyond the hardcore wvw community why in the hell would anyone enter actual wvw matchups over eotm when not only are you gaining more wexp and levels there but you are getting loot rewards akin to those of a FGS train?
the pve crowd account for a good deal of any pug zerg, without them ofc actual wvw is suffering.
(is a roamer not associated with any of these guilds)
TA are strong as hell, seen them wipe guild groups 2-3 times their size.
SWD are also very strong.

necros are good in pve. id recommend spoj’s build thats pinned in this forum.
that said pretty much everything we can do for the pve aspect of the game can be preformed better by a different class.
on the complete other side of the coin in pvp/wvw necros excel in a number of roles. keep this in mind if youre going to level a necro. theres more to the game than stacking AI.

i would add:
if youre running this in a wvw zerg just use blind and stick on the commander. you can singlehandedly change the tide of a fight by doing this.
press h, go to the achievements tab (looks like a circle with a crown in it).
(is a piken player).
the devs really dont seem to care at all, or at best they are ‘working on it’.
there are other options out there besides gw2’s wvw….
i can only speak for piken square.
very friendly wvw community. very skilled roamers and some solid guilds and great commanders. coverage could be better but there is always someone on willing to take up the mantle.

Perma stealth is a ridiculous mechanic to have in combination with the lack of objective orientation. I understand it’s a core mechanic of the thief class but in the context of the open world that is wvw this mechanic does not work. Everyone here, everyday, meets a thief that takes 10 minutes to kill simply because they can stealth and disengage for cooldowns.
Ofc people are going to defend their favourite class but these perma stealth builds in wvw need to be addressed for sure.

necros absolutely own in solo roaming, they really do.
i run rabid & travelers. travelers is a must as it frees up your utility bar.
atm dhumb is imo a better choice.
if youre looking for something to work towards then try out a few different types of sets and work towards an ascended setup, theres your grind
the best and the cheap will be very different things.
full dire wellomancer with a wh/ax & staff will probably serve you well in large and medium groups.
have a look around the forums, you can replace most elements of a build with cheaper pieces, depends on what youd like to play etc.
is a necro defending against a zerg at longview on our border. overwhelmed they make it to the lord. i drop down to the small ledge under the ramp to the lord room. nice views over the cliff from there.
first 2 dropped down after me, staff terror them both off the cliff. another drops down, death shroud 3, he walks off the cliff. another two drop down to me, staff off cd, terror them both also.
think i was out of range for /laugh (its a long drop) but i felt it necessary none the less
im hopeful the various other unreleased alterations that are coming will balance it out (yes im a fool to hope perhaps).
that said ill miss dhumb for sure but ds5 ds3 ds1 will still be an obnoxious combo.

this is really pretty expensive but its definitely an amazing build for zerg action.
for small groups it works too but maybe a terrormancer/dire wellomancer would be better.
play whatever you like, prefer and have fun with and youll be the most productive

You can’t say anything about skill. Yes, I swapped to water attunement and saved myself before death, but the point is someone can throw one skill, walk away, fight someone else and his target will die.
No power build can do that. And if you say it can, prove it with video evidence. It’s just not possible.

A warrior could 100b me, but the one skill wouldn’t kill me. It could kill shot me, but it wouldn’t kill me. A thief could backstab me, but even at its glassiest, the thief can’t 1 hit me unless it gets sigil procs.
And again, if you don’t understand the point of the thread, why comment? I’m remarking about how nuts it is that a skill can be thrown, a person can walk away, and the opponent is hit by enough damage that one skill would down the person. That is crazy in my opinion, no matter how much counter play there is for it.

conditions are not the problem here. what it boils down to is a l2p issue: cleanse condi damage/conditions are a DOT element of the game; block direct damage/direct damage is a burst element of the game.
just because someone can use a skill and walk away doesnt mean you will die; you wouldnt just sit and let a warrior autoattack you for 20 seconds…. its the same thing.

farm money? There’s a train in frostgauge sounds. Obviously there are better ways. But 7 gold an hour isn’t bad.
But if you spend 10 hours farming it you’ll be 70 gold richer already. Some guy farmed 10 legendary without playing the TP. It is simple. Just farm money.
Maybe on your server. I’ve heard of it, and have tried to get in there myself, but it always seems dead unless Jormag is around.

roaming is very dynamic.
ultimately its about picking your battles.
youll definitely get your kitten kicked when you start but it becomes very rewarding very quickly.
desolation is where i do most of my guesting for pve events, 24 hour trains/teq/wurm all that. if you speak french vizunah is maybe better (got all that pve stuff plus a really really solid wvw community).

zerks is so op.
i meet so many zerk players in wvw, its getting ridiculous, they just pwn, especially in the zerg meta.
people spend all this time getting full ascended and there is no point in getting anything other than zergs because its so op in any kind of pvp format.
said noone ever.
let the zerk peoples have their dungeons, killing npc’s is only one small part of the endgame content.

they are great for roaming solo and in small groups. necros are a genuinely fun class to play and do require quite a bit of skill to play (see: no stability, no escape).
as a necro i would advise against an ele for roaming, as im sure you know, they are like paper.

As a semi-avid wvw’er why should I play pvp?
From the outside looking in it seems it’s just a single gamemode, completely detached from anything else in the game with zero progression and home to a tiny portion of the community. We got pvp in wvw and we got a dynamic gamemode in which to play it.
I sound like I might be trolling, I’m really not; I’m genuinely curious whether the pvp community, if given a chance, would uninvest the time they have put into pvp and place if in some other part of the game instead/should I even bother entering the mists?

1 exotic potion @ 20g
1 rare potion @ 1g
100-150 silk @ 1s 3c
50 linen @ 6s 15c
50 wool @ 2s 70c
1 exotic mini @ 1g
a ton of other teir 5 and teir 6 loot from champ bags and salvage.
saving npcs is cool and all….
perhaps the real goal of this event is to flood the playerbase with extra gold before the next ascended crafting drops.

im with the royal heroes of piken square. we do pve mainly, altho quite a bit of wvw also. very relaxed atmosphere. always ping events etc. we have 400 or so listed members but theres really a core group of 30-40.
im not a leader or anything but feel free to message me in game and ill pass on any requests.
what are the odds that add some mobs with an improved anti-zerk mechanic to the living story for 2 weeks and call it fixed…

let me just preempt what im about to write by saying that this is a great build, i even have similar gear in my inv for when its needed….
but:
in light of “We are taking some steps towards shifting the meta in the near future. I suspect some concrete info will come out about this next week”, does it not seem very disjointed that they would sticky this only a few days before making this statement…?
that ^ build really is very good.
condition damage is also useful in dungeons but (and its an important but!) you have to be the only one which is specifically dealing condition damage. keep this in mind when joining or creating groups and youll be fine

No that’s what YOU boiled it down to. The faceroll right now are all the condi set it and forget it builds that can spam condis for high damage with no sacrifice to survivability. I get that condis take time to do their damage, but they also take zero timing to apply and have zero animations. Usually power builds require key abilities to land, and if you miss those abilities then all your damage just got thrown out the window until your abilities reset. It’s simply not balanced.
And to the poster who said that only 10% of sPvP tournaments are condi bunker builds…lawlwut?! have you queued at all in the past ..ooooh I don’t know….6 months?
so what youre saying is both builds have pros and cons?

if youre finding the step up too much (and it generally is in the areas surrounding your starting zome) then use an asura gate to travel first to lions arch, then the nearby gates to one of the other races starting zones

This is how I do it. My advertisement is usually along the lines of:
Zerk Gear + melee only- Scholar preferred -Gear checking- Touring multi dungeons.
I usually have one other person who is a friend in my party and the kicking fest begins. Usually the first 6 or so joins are complete illiterates. We kick those, takes about 3 or so minutes, as we fill fast. They ping, I accept anything that is full zerker base including accessories and full melee weapons ( acceptable ones, eg. axe/mace GS for warrior. Sword/warhorn for ranger.) with either ruby orbs or scholar. I take care when recruiting warriors to make sure they not only ping their GS, but their axe and mace.. Too many times I have seen GS campers.
I only take guardians/necromancers/rangers under exceptional circumstances. The community has proven it self to be completely incapable of running correct builds on these classes the majority of the time. While there is a stigma around bowbear rangers, more often than not the worst players that join are the guardians in their ‘tank/heal gear’ and their AH builds. To avoid this I just run on my own guardian.
I get death threats, I get called all kinds of names, I get whispers and etc from people who couldn’t read the description and were booted. I find this hilarious. Nothing satisfies me more than knowing I kitten e’d off the shoutheal warrior who could have potentially leeched from my party.
I never kick someone once the dungeon has started unless they are particularly awful. It’s always before, I do a very thorough job of weeding out the time wasters so as to prevent such a circumstance from occurring as I dislike wasting people’s time and my own.
So far this has negated many awful runs that I could have had. When I see some of the horrible sets people ping and their nasty attitudes when they are told to read the party description before joining I know I’ve dodged many a monotonous bullet.
