In fact it makes about as much sense as posting a pic of 3 people from the same guild exploiting a terrain bug and calling it “an entire zerg”. all this dick measuring is meaningless guys.

As I’ve stated before, I’m an AR pug. Our EB game is obviously horrible because the alliance only goes there to defend the keep or to mess about leading pug zergs for quick caps we have no intention of holding. [Sekz] and any other guild group running will have easy badges, thats not really anything to brag about. The pugs in EB dont read and half of them are just there to complete daily.

King fire rat, I’m not ragging on you because you did a good job, but we hardly “wiped them”. I was there and was one of the guys trying to back our zerg off of them. But our guys dont listen and kept falling for the same one trick pony again and again: lure them in by backing up then use overwhelming numbers and a portal bomb to steamroll them. Rinse. Repeat. You did a good job organizing them in order to finally push them out of Umber and retake DG, but they made a killing on badges and wiped us at least 3 times.

All I’m saying is that there’s no reason to be arguing so heavily against whether or not [Sekz] is as uber pro as they are stating. Its the same as [Paxa]. They are a group of like minded players that have found something they can do reliably to get badges. Their tactics may or may not work. That being said, the ones on this forum have the same showboat attitude that [Paxa] does, and calling people “bads” just show how immature they are.

Stop defending AR’s pride. Its a game. If someone calls you bad, don’t start forum drama and turn keyboard warrior, work on beating them in game and forcing them to change the way they think about you. No amount of storytelling whether or not its true is going to convince them that you’re good. Beating them will.

Guess what I found.

I’ve played Guardian through the BWE’s and since head start until now with +1,000 hours on my main Guardian.

It is very complicated to describe Guardian and its lack of but yet enabled versatility. I think that I have the experience to share it accurately though.

In PvE, the Guardian is sub-average. It doesn’t particularly stand out in any area.
Sure its can heal and tank, but an elementalist can do both of those things and better. So what is the Guardian? Is it really a healing class? Even though it can be out healed by a caster class? Is it really a tank class? Even though it can be out tanked by the light armour class? Is it really a melee class? Even though a thief and/or warrior will destroy it in Melee.

Honestly, I don’t think the Guardian quite knows what it is, and as of such it doesn’t do anything to its best.
Each class is supposed to specialise in something, correct?
The Guardian is supposed to be a support class, or so I have been told.

So in PvE, Open map, does it support well? No. The mobs are easily more OP than its buffs.

In Dungeon environment. Does it support well? Yes and no, It supports BETTER, but not well enough to make a huge difference, not well enough that it is better than just having another DPS class instead.

In the sPvP environment. Does it support well? Most certainly not. It is awful at sPvP unless you are using a non support build. Which makes little sense for a support class.
(Spirit weapon build is effective but noobish and cannot engage multi-targets)

In WvW. Does it support well? Negative. I WvW more than anything else and I have to say that the Guardian in terms of support is underpowered badly.
In actual fact if you play full support in WvW you are next to useless and the best build that I’ve found is a CC fire build. Which really goes against what I think a Guardian was intended to be.
That and a CC fire build is a melee build, and gets its kitten handed to it by any other true melee class.

But I put my hands up in the air and say, dude, I’m a Guardian.
Because it has a couple of skills that are underpowered but still useful in certain circumstances.

Like sanctuary, shield bubble, line of power.
These things can stop a zerg for a few seconds, a stupidly little amount of time for them being in my opinion most useful skills.
And even the shield bubble was nerfed in WvW, because of Q_Q from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.

We have awful elite skills!
Why can’t guardians have a portal like mesmers? But blue and for 5 people only?
We are clearly a partially magical profession, so it makes sense that we should be able to do a support portal like that. And 5 people makes sense because we can only buff 5 people.

What about Ray of Judgement from Guildwars 1?
Boom, Guardians can now do decent AoE without having to be right up in the targets face.

This isn’t one man defends castle vs world.
This is the shiverpeaks takes SM, while losing everything else, but still holds SM in the red. The centre of the Eternal battleground, the largest structure in the game. Its still got our name on it.

That and as soon as I took SM I went offline to watch some more rugby.

I say leave it out. WvW is all about managing resources, players are your key resource. I am uncomfortable with auto game play concepts. I don’t want keeps to defend themselves, I want players to defend keeps. I go to WvW to face players and not fight more npcs like I do in PvE.

I assume you are a Primetime player.
I doubt these turrets would affect Primetime guys with lots of players on.

But for nightcrew who only maybe have 3 people on a map?
Those turrets would be of great use.

We had two match up vs NSP, and both time it would be +600 for NSP and +10 for others servers.

We were abandoned and the people who, like myself, still stand by their server are angry.
Its like having the winning deck in your hand, and someone peaking over and just taking 3 of your best cards.

Now I can sit back and tell you, the NSP night crew is utterly ruined. For someone who has been on it from day one, we really have scraped the bottom barrel. Three times we have lost our entire crew, three times the community in that timezone has been drained. Many leave, few return.

It happens and we accept that we’ll lose.
Because in WvW?
You gain nothing from winning,
so why not.

My first impression of this proposal is that it simply takes the player out of PvP, and on that basis I don’t like it much. Undefended towers SHOULD be easy to capture.

But, an undefended tower has takes the player out of PvP anyway.
But I do see what you’re saying, it can’t be super OP to the point were only a zerg can beat it. But I think blind spots should still enable it to act as if it wasn’t there at all.

While I do like the idea of automated turrets able to be deployed by players and left for a time (Also destructable, and probably similar to those Asura cubish turret…..thingies… you see all over the place) I disagree with it being a tower or keep upgrade. Seems a bit redundant there.

I think an automated system or even “NPC Airstrike” would add another level to WvW and would stop this “grind” feeling that is quickly becoming common.

Personally, I don’t think it would add any extra dynamic that npcs do not.

Also, I have a feeling this would cause some coding/exploiting troubles.

People would be able to spawn a turret in a wall or something and then all goes to hell until 30 minutes is over.

I don’t think it is a very good idea to have automated guards more than we already have, personally.

So you have two contests to it.

1) Anet not doing their job right, well. Coding shouldn’t be an issue as the blueprints were a secondary idea and the real primary idea is it to be a tower upgrade. But besides that point, If placed in wall it would also become obstructed and useless.

2) And its usefulness, I mean. What is the usefulness of any of it? Cannons are useless when not manned, Oil is useless when not manned, arrow carts and catapults follow the same path as the two before.
In that sense, automated turrets can be used around the clock no matter the situation for they require nothing to run them but yet provide more defence than 3 NPC’s sauntering about below.
(NPC’s which will not respond to range catapult fire while a turret with a higher vantage point and long range can)

Hey guys,
Before a Moderator decides to move this, I wanted this ‘suggestion’ ripped to shreds and pulled to pieces by the WvW community before I post it in the official section.
This is because I’d love the idea to be refined and expanded.
(I will try and keep this as interesting as possible and not just a massively long winded post)

The idea is as said in the title, an Automated turret.
The core concept of it is to be used as a tower, keep, castle upgrade, just like hiring extra guards etc.

A turret, or multiple turrets (maybe on on either side of the door and a few dotted around the walls) that will fire (with possibly an NPC manning it) at an enemy without any other prompt from a player. Now that would be it in its ‘standard’ state.
But this also leaves open that a player can jump into it as well, and fire at more relevant targets more quickly.

This in my opinion and experience will help combat 5man night crews from just PvDoor’ing towers/ keeps when everyone else is asleep. As you can see from my signature, I am one of those nightcrews.

Here is the play out:
A band of 5 – 10 ninja cappers would rumple their merry way towards a keep deep behind enemy lines when no one was looking. They would reach the main gate and think to themselves, “lol 30people fought hard for this but we’ll just take it without anyone noticing in half the time”. But all of a sudden, the Guards have covering fire!
Pew pew pew pew, rattle the turrets above the gates as the would be ninja cappers dodge roll for their lives.

What does a tower have if no one is online? A couple of easy sauce NPCs on the ground, standing around, waiting to get killed? That hardly seems right for an expensive tier 3 tower. Especially when uncivilised races like the ‘Krait’ have turrets as well as the ‘Dredge’.

And here goes another idea, what about turret blueprints?
Blueprint Turrets de-spawn after 30minutes so you can’t just build tons of them around the map, and these ones cannot be used by players. These are smaller fully automated ones. Now that could lead to some epic open ground trench warfare, something which this game does not see.
Slow the zerg down and watch the smaller force use their turrets to increase their output.

Something to consider:
Each tower should have a blind spot on its walls so an educated ninja capper can still find a way through. This will encourage ‘goods’ rather than just all out ‘bads’ rolling straight to the front door.
Turrets should cost more than cannons.
Turrets should be auto repaired by workers if supply is sufficient.
Different ammunition types should be able to be bought for different turrets making them more versatile, (nets, poison, ice, explosives)

Please post any and all suggestions/additions below.
And if you think its a mega stupid or good idea.

One has to wonder if Darkhaven would be a better server in our place in this matchup.
Because it was a close call between them and us to be in this tier back when we had our full nightcrew.
Now that we don’t, they could prove to be much stronger than us.

We drop everything and rush their to try and defend it.

We finally get there and look around.
There are 10 up-lvl’ed Anvil Rock and 1 ram slowly tapping the gate with the nub inside going, “ERMAHGERD WE’RE GUNNA DIE”.
Makes everyone facepalm.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a 50man zerg in WvW ever.
But then again, I’ve only been to one reset and I run the night shift.

The only reason you guys got close to getting SM is because we had a troll build 10+ trebs and golems inside to waste our supply. Here’s a picture for proof.

Happens to every server, we have a dude in the night crew (still haven’t figured out who) who drops trebs down infront of every single gate we attack.

Triad isn’t a guild on NSP.
Nor is that one of our Commanders/ever been one, and I know them all.
But if we see you guys backing off of SM/ having trouble with it. Ofc we are going to try and take it, thats the purpose of every single person in WvW.

I doubt anyone would spent 100G on an alt account, and we don’t have enough Coms on NSP as it is.

This. I experienced the exact same thing, and it was really funny because I could stand in the middle of the zerg and watch AR running around me and chasing PAXA’s members only. I was wondering if I was invisible or something.

Some people tunnel vision on those they don’t like.

I enjoy it because I am tanky and get tunnel visioned by VS so all my DPS in back stays alive.

I’m from Ferguson’s Crossing, been there since i started playing. I’ve been looking into NSP since it’s just a tier 6 serv. I’m really not into the whole tier 1 zerg fest, that is why i love my little tier 8 serv. WvWvW is really fun on our tier 8, there’s some small zergs but it’s nothing compared to higher tier, and with some well place defenses, you can break the zerg really fast. One thing that sucks however, is the PVE, it’s a real ghost town.

So that is why i was looking into NSP, i keep hearing the PVE is awesome but how is WvWvW? Is it just a zerg fest like higher tier or you can still have small skirmishes here and there, and a bit of solo roaming?

NSP lacks numbers most of the time. The zerging is nothing like tier 1 – 3 or even much like tier 5.
But we are good enough to hold our own against the other servers.

And yes, we have quite a large PvE base. Daily Commander led temple runs from what I hear. And peeps always looking for dungeons.

lol rob, that was nothing to do with more night crew, that was us staying up all night with a coordinated attack, sorry to pull ahead and make it 3.5k behind AR at this current time, we did everything in AR and NSP with a total of 50 ppl between the 2 maps, then when it was all green it was about 8-10 per map. so please, stop making excuses about new transfers every time BP does a push.

PAXA are the ones that all dye their armor that god awful yellow color aren’t they.

They spent 2 hours the other night camping my friends corps (he was afk) while I ran in circles around them. They have dedication, I’ll give them that. It was really fun though, they almost got me a few times.
