Speedy kits + med kit skill #5.
I believe the noble headgear (should be plenty in the TP) has the same style as the eagle eye goggles.
I don’t think the monacles and the backpack are obtainable again.
Faction armour can be previewed at the pvp lockers. Once entering the heart of the mists, they should be to your right.
Yeah its a little annoying that they can’t be cancelled. Though i don’t run into the problem much as i only use fumigate to clean down allies when i’m not getting focused.
Try getting swiftness on crit from the firearms tree and vigor from swiftness from the alchemy tree. They both work fantasticly together and you’ll be able to dodge roll twice as much.
Alternatively, if your kit heavy, swiftness on kit equipping can be used instead of the one from firearms.
I’d say it all comes down to how each armour set looks. Go to the mists and check up on all the faction armour and weapon sets and mix-match them with other pieces of armour. I chose the Vigil purely for the medium leggings which suit my endgame look perfectly.
If none of the armour sets look good for you, then go the role-player route or whichever interests you most.
One more thing is that faction armour can have stats that are rather tedious to get outside of the faction (whispers armour with condition damage/precision/toughness for example) so you may want to take that into account.
You forgot the initial placement heal from super elixir (i think 300 or so with 0 +healing) and the fact that 2 super elixirs placed on each other will give you healing from both of them. I’m also fairly certain that super elixir does scale with +healing
My backpack kits disappear at random upon equipping them.
I’d also like an option to hide/show a backpack. I guess a backpack may suit a more bulky character build, but it ruins my characters small slender build.
I’m about 50/50 between the elixir gun and duel pistols.
I start off most fights building up around 20 seconds of weakness with elixir gun, and then swapping to pistols to burn, poison, confuse and blind.
Swap over to elixir gun when weakness is wearing off or to cure conditions on yourself or allies.
Elixir gun can also be used to dish out some serious healing per second for you and allies. Kit refinement super elixir, super elixir, healing mist and backpack regenerator will heal close to 600hp/second for 10 seconds + super elixir impact heal will heal 600 more.
Is that exotic? And do you know where one can acquire Condition damage/Precision/Vitality gear?
Nope, the rings and amulet are blue and the accessories are green.
I don’t think armour with CD/Pr/V stats exist. I looked up Armor Stat Combinations on the wiki and didn’t see anything.
Line of sight is the only real thing mortar has going for it.
Aside from that, the only use my mortar has is to plop it down in town and watch people play with it.
What about 2 superior sigils of earth and the sharpshooter trait? Any idea which one would be taken into account first? Or would they be separate bleed on crit effects?
Glyphic pistol or the tainted glyphic pistol are large futuristic looking pistols.
If you’ve got the karma to spare, the asura cultural peacemaker pistol looks decent and it even has a fancy purple effect to go with it.
Rings and amulets with Condition damage/Toughness/Precision stats are available for 10-15 silver from the risen king event in Orr and a quaggan event in Frostgorge Sound will sell the accessories.
I was running a P/S with Condition Damage/Toughness/Precision on all my gear and had great success in dungeons.
My killing power wasn’t too great so i switched out for a P/P with burn damage increase, but P/S is solid if you’re looking to not die as quick.
1499 toughness here.
Between my toughness, cc, health regen and endurance regen i can survive for quite some time.
All you need are the Eagle Eye Goggles to look like an engineer.
But i suppose if you want to go the extra step, pick up the Orr karma gear. I think it suits a gun weilding profession.
There’s a fairly large sniper rifle skin available. I don’t know its name or where to get it, but i’m almost sure it’s expensive.
Elixir U is decent for a p/p build.
Just don’t have it on you the whole time. I like to switch out for elixir R if there arn’t any/many hard hitting ranged mobs or if your team in incredibly inept at avoiding damage.
Mine lasts 5 seconds.
I wouldn’t be suprised if a trait is effecting your elixir u boon duration. Many of our traits are screwed up and effect things that they shouldn’t.
I’m not too sure about grenade build stats, but i do know that karma armour with condition damage/toughness/precision is great for a conditions engineer.
Accessories with the same cd/t/p stats do exist and are fairly easy to get. Completing the risen king event in Orr will allow you to buy from an npc who sells rings and amulets with those stats, and a quaggan npc in frostgorge sound (sorry i can’t remember where) will sell accessories with those stats.
Each piece is around 13 silver.
Power grenades are a good option for straight up aoe damage, but they get incredibly boring and you’ll probably need to relax your finger from pressing 1 so many times.
Other than that, there is a sticky at the top of the engineer forums that has plenty of decent builds.
Human.
On a more serious note, when picking between the two, i’d go Charr. Asura are good, but your gear won’t really stand out on such a small character.
A large portion of endgame is about obtaining good looking gear that you can show off, and Charr would be a good choice for that.
Or perhaps you don’t care for endgame looks, in which case i’d pick Asura.
So you create light fields, spray green fart and chuck glass bottles at peoples heads.
That’s all i understood.
We have the dispenser (healing turret) and the sentry (turrets). If only we got that teleporter, then engineer would be a real credit to team.
After last weeks changes, i started to have hope that the engineer fixes would be going in the right direction.
I was wrong.
Why does ANet keep tinkering with the kitten grenade kit? Sure it needed a bit of a nerf in the pve department, but with pvp any intelligent target would just move left or right to dodge ALL grenades.
Big Ol’ Bombs change was expected (as one of the largest player made explosions in the game it should’ve always been a blast finisher)
I’m just going to take a guess and say that next weeks patch notes will have 2 more changes to the grenade kit, a nerf to the engineer overall and 1 positive change that actually matters.
I was suprised that they didn’t have this in game.
It doesn’t matter if the game isn’t balanced around 1v1 fights, just having the option to duel others for fun would be very much welcome.
An option to auto decline duels would also be needed.
Yeah, i found most medium armour doesn’t really suit the engineer. That is until i put on my eagle eye goggles which just made almost any style fit my engineer.
Why not a shotgun with an attached chainsaw?
If you don’t want to show off your armor and weapons and love to play as an egotistical moron, then Asura is for you.
Do you hate British Accents or the treehugger theme? If so stay away from Sylvari.
I’ve heard there are some issues with Charr and their longcoats stretching to fit them, but otherwise Charr is a decent option.
You’ve allready stated you don’t want a Norn
If all else fails, go human. They’re basic, easy to relate to, the styles and theme fit them and i had a good time with my story (street rat, lost sister)
Mostly the theme of the engineer.
I really didn’t want to play as some generic fantasy character carrying a sword or bow or using flashy frame rate dropping spells, and then the engineer appeared.
A guns, gadgets and explosions somewhat modern type class just seemed to shine out of all of the other options presented to me.
Slightly Tanky PVE Condition Engineer.
Pistol/Shield
Healing Turret, Rocket Boots, Flamethrower, Net Turret, Supply Crate.
Change out Rocket Boots for elixir gun if bored.
0/30/20/10/10
Firearms:
Infused Precision, Hair Trigger, Coated Bullets
Inventions:
Energized Armour, Reinforced Shield
Alchemy:
Invigorating Speed
Tools:
Kit Refinement/Speedy Kits
Its what i used to get to 80 and it’s what i still use as i find anything that requires grenades boring.
Yep. Everything seems to hates my poor engineer.
About half of the group fights i’m in (dungeons or overworld) have me playing the lead role in “catch the engineer” by running in circles and jumping on and off objects and trying my best to stave off the horde of angry mobs or the big bad boss that want a piece of my unfortunate engi.
This usually isn’t too much of a problem when fighting melee mobs as my team can just dps them down while they chase me. Its when the ranged mobs show up the things start to get problematic.
My guess on all this is that different conditions have different aggro ratings. As a condition engineer i apply conditions almost continuously and some of them (like weakness from tranq dart) are quite crippling so i build up hate very quickly.
An option to change if your backback is visable or not would be nice.
Yep, there are sniper rifles in game.
I ran into a few around Plains of Ashford while getting 100% map completion.
They were on bipods and they acted like i’d expect. Single target, long range, high damage.
Forgot to mention, i’m almost certain they were labelled “Sniper Rifle”
I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s a hidden nerf. That, or they just straight up forgot to add it to the patch notes.
/sarcasm on
It’s nice to see the devs prioritise the bug fixes that Engineer really needs.
Havn’t you seen all the Engineers complaining about how underpowered underwater grenades are?
/sarcasm off
Can we have fixes to the real engineer issues in the next patch please?
Those are great ideas.
I especially like the change you made to smoke vent. I’d love to be able to use the smoke field + rocket boots jump back stealth combo without needing bomb kit, a pathetic turret or relying on random skills.
I kind of want hammers, but after thinking about it I think I’d rather have maces. They make a -little- more sense as a tool-turned-club than a gargantuan 2-hander and we can change up our loadout a little bit. Not that I’d complain about hammers, mind you. They’re my favorite weapon on both classes that can use them.
Why not both?
To me, they both make more sense than an engineer using a sheild and pistol.
I’ve posted a elixir gun/flamethrower build on the engineer build sticky. Feel free to check it and the other elixir gun builds there out.
Other than that, most that could be said about the elixir gun has already been said. It’s great for support and most decent engineers i’ve met use it when in a group situation.
Aside from better scaling and bug fixes, perhaps a burn on the first and last hit from skill #1 and a smoke field on skill #5.
Remote detonation on skill #2 would make it much better.
Sounds like a decent idea.
The toolbelt skill would be used to troll people so i don’t know about that. Although i would love to screw botters over by teleporting them away from their camping area.
Charming Canthan female engineer, street rat, missing sister and joined the vigil.
I like how it turned out, but wish my sister would turn up more than twice.
It all comes down to personal preference. I would choose Human or Norn, mostly human (female Norn kind of sounds manly).
Or am i completely wrong and your a female gamer looking for a sexy male outfit?
Ever tried elixir x underwater?
Whirlpool can dish out insane amounts of aoe damage, and the necro ability has a truck load of conditions.
Fair enough. Everybody has different opinions, and i can understand why you feel that way towards the engi.
The armor that you buy with karma from Orr i think.
Level 70-80 zone.
42k karma a piece, real expensive.
Sure, the engineer may not be as powerful as other classes, but i’d still recommend making one.
Once the big bugs start getting fixed and hopefully when we get buffs, the engineer will be a great and even more enjoyable/fun class.
Auto attack breaks stealth from cloaking device almost every time. If it didn’t do this, i could see it being a decent pve skill. Although a change to make it more viable for pvp would be welcome.
