I’m not convinced these are the right changes.
Full zerk staff ele. If you’re dying its not the class or build, it’s you.
Two ways to make money- spend a few hours of continuous play doing PvE content such as dungeons (not always reasonable, crazy as that sounds).
Many dungeons take 20-30 minutes in even a standard pug group. I’m not saying you should farm arah, I’m saying you should run something like cof 1/2, coe paths, maybe even ac paths, or ta up. These are fast runs that don’t have a lot of complications. I fully understand time constraints.
Better yet, get your tailoring up to 500 and craft your daily bolt of damask. You can sell it daily for a decent profit.
You need startup funds of around 50-60 gold in order to do this, iirc. Once you’ve gotten to 450 crafting for making damask, go for it, it’s an easy 1-2 gold per day.
@Jurica: The key to having gold is not spending it. There are very few things that really require you to spend gold. Gear is not one of them (other than runes/sigils). Use badges of honor, karma, or again run dungeons to get your gear without spending any money. Nowadays you can even do PvP for your gear. That’s the biggest reason you’ll run out of money.
Occasional expenses on new skins and stuff like that won’t bleed you dry, especially if you are running multiple dungeon paths a day. You said you do cof 1/2 ac 123 daily. That’s roughly 6 gold per day. Over the course of a week, you’ll make 56 gold with that. I know that I personally don’t spend anywhere near to 56 gold a week. Try and see where all that gold is going.
Booze and woman.
Money is easy to come by in this game. I don’t really see how people end up running out of it unless they’re constantly buying strength runes and stuff.
Basically, just do some dungeons as you level up, and you’ll have plenty of gold by the time you hit 80, that’s all you need.
And yet, for many, it’s completely unrealistic. To give an explination-
Married man attempts to play Diablo III. Achieves world record 13 minutes of uninterrupted play.
Kansas City – James Massey, a married man in his late twenties, has set a new world record for continuous video game play. The record, set on a Friday evening, has inspired millions of espoused men everywhere.
“Some guys are calling me a hero, but I was just doing what any man would have done.” the world-record holder said. “This is my dream, it has always been my dream, to one day play video games for so long, all at once.”
The previous record, 11 minutes, held by Brian Hutchinson from Little Rock, was attained only when his wife accidentally locked herself in the basement. “I knew he was playing video games” his wife said, “but I wanted to rearrange some furniture in the basement. I thought it would look better if everything was shifted over a couple of inches.” Furious screaming from behind the locked basement door eventually pulled Brian away from his video game at the 11 minute mark.
Hutchinson commended the the new world-record gamer. “I don’t know how he did it. I didn’t think 13 minutes was even possible.”
James Massey credited his success to fearlessness and an iron will. “At the 10 minute mark, I thought it was all over. My wife wanted to put a new bed skirt on the guest bed, and she wanted me to lift up the mattress. I told her ‘hang on a sec hon’ and that gave me the opening I needed.” After telling his wife to hang on, she was briefly distracted by CSI:NY and forgot what she was doing.
“Once I passed the 11 minute mark, I knew I had done something really special.” James said, “I was finally pulled away from my game when CSI:NY cut to commercial and my wife wanted me to get some dishes down from the top shelf for a potluck we were going to later.”
While many challengers will dream of one day besting James and his incredible achievement, playing for over thirteen minutes won’t be easy. Many will try, but few will even come close.

For the occasional burst of funds, go through your matts bank and sell your bulk stacks.
Here is how I approach the same goal

The spikes in either condition or direct damage alter slightly with the swapping of weapons.
Well said pyro and I did get defensive, only natural given the work I put into recording, setting up youtube account for it, editing, finding music, etc. To get shot down with no regard to why I posted it to start with. I should have stated up front what the full purpose of disclosing it was for the community. Nonetheless I will improve as it was only my first video posting. Who knew posting vids could be such a hassle.
Pro tip: Just remember to turn your youtube comments off :p
Stopped at 29 seconds when you were double capping
And PU has no place in SPvP at all, it cant fufill any of the roles even half as good as any other class/spec.
In conclusion: Consider yourself henceforth banished from the mesmer forum, and GW2 in general!
I know there’s a lot of things we can do bring up regarding iMage, but it’s pretty sad when a walking target can counter the phantasm. Case in point, here’s a Yak going for a stroll.
There’s balance, and then there’s just bad design. The dev response in the bug thread about iMage projectiles missing was that it was intended. If missing a walking target is an intended feature of the iMage, Anet needs to up their dev teams game.
This needs some attention.
I don’t want to be a jerk, but besides the music, everything in this vid is awfull:
- HotJoin footage? srs? Killing some noobs who don’t even know how to find the real Mesmer doesn’t show anything
- Capping close with 2 players while nobody keeps heading to mid
- 1st Midfight: Even though you have had access to stuff like: distrotion, bodyblocking clones and stealth, you don’t use anything to get a savestomp. Not to mention that you didn’t even try to interrupt the 2nd enemy who was rezzing the warrior
- 1st fight on close: “trolling” lol. You lost the point pretty fast and were some times near to death vs. a warrior who had now idea what “clones” are
- 2nd fight on close: you even managed to let the other players cap the point
- you also almost never made use of blink shortcuts on the
But hey,
7. Good on you for getting involved in the game and producing some works of where you’re at. Clearly you’ve got a few things to learn, and one day you can be a kitten player like EverythingEnds. Then you can send away for your very own arrogant jerk card and blow off newbs on the forums. ;D
It still funny to see people who think PU is balanced.
A) go to a dueling server
B) say you are a PU mesmer
C) see how many people will fight you
Yea nobody . You think you’re good using PU? lol this fail trait will get nerfed once they start going a bit seriously into dueling. Enjoy while it lasts.
I read this then look down at your signiture
“Warrior GS/LB 4/0/4/0/6
Thief D/P 2/6/0/0/6
Engi Decap 0/0/2/6/6”
Yeah…..
FYI, I’d duel a PU mesmer, because I know I’m skilled enough to take them. Simple as that.
I realized that after I posted. Now I feel dumb lol.
Eh, it’s definitely a misleading tooltip. The range for summoning a clone is 1200….but nowhere on the tooltip does it state the range of the leap, and that’s a failure on the part of the devs.
Pyro’s actually a dwarf and holds the key to “The Big Book Of Grudges” where all offenses of Anet are rigorously and systematically recorded. So you can trust him.
I’ve seen a lot of QQ on these forums, but never tears quite as stupid as this. Mesmers at their finest.
It’s clearly shown that Blackgate can win against either team when they are separated and when they aren’t allied against us. I personally don’t care if we get double-teamed in the off-season, because it doesn’t matter. However, it seems rather unfair to me that Blackgate is getting double-teamed during a tournament, where the score amounts to a reward. It’s pretty much impossible for us to win if it isn’t going to be a fair fight.
Can you define a “fair” fight for me? I’d love to see what BG comes up with within the context of it’s victories.
The trouble with mimic is that the initial hit goes through, thus it becomes a chance to be interrupted. Anyway, great utility but hate that interrupt.
Updated thread for The Holy Hell Build
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/The-Holy-Hell-Build-2-0/first#post3977712
Build:
http://tinyurl.com/keqa83h
Gameplay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TODfK9LvIEk&feature=youtu.be
So with the patch I felt the Holy Hell build was out of date. So I finally got around to reworking it and making up a gameplay vid. Not much has changed. Traits are still the same, however the patch effected the runes (full boon duration), and the meta shifted slightly allowing for tweaks in the stats.
The build is still highly mobile, 18s swiftness from curtain down from 21s. Manipulation range and cooldown traits. The vigor nerf on critical infusions made me change from any emphasis on spamming clone death, and with the increase in power ive increased my gameplay focus on working shatter bursts in, both for invuln, confusion, and mind wrack/blurred frenzy stacking/bursts.
The new runes are 4x traveler, 2x 5% boon duration (take your pick). I went with monk because I already had it on the pieces, but Lyssa will give you a few more points of power. Whatever the choice this will ensure 50% boon duration to 70% condition duration. Sigil choices are to maintain control/pressure (doom/torment), and battle (to help with burst post weapon swap).
The build is still a great roaming/scouting build, and maintains the option of a very aggressive style of play. As the Holy Hell name is meant to imply, it brings everything you could need for any situation.
Finally, if you’re part of the PU hating club, I did run try it using BD (Bountiful Disillusionment). I liked to call this “hard mode”. A couple of the fights in the vid have BD in them, and while I consider it a vastly weaker trait choice than PU, I did enjoy the extra damage the shattering provided. F3 to proc fury plus the might from F2 joined with your usual F1 blurred frency combo cropped up some bigger numbers than without.

Also, how is using an effective trait (for the situation, 1v1 versus someone trying to gank you) a bad thing?
The protection up-time alone makes PU overpowered. Any decent mesmer doesn’t need to run this cheese and it is banned in any legit 1v1 server. Not surprised Pyroathiest is here defending it though, it’s just like when he was defending the bugged phantasm damage before it was fixed. I play mesmer and I’ve wanted this trait changed for months.
The only legit servers are those provided by Anet, not custom scrub built arenas. And any decent Mesmer is playing to win, and will bring whatever he needs to the fight to dominate. He’ll take advantage of every tool available to him, and make use of every nitch he can to come out victorious. Anyone who doesn’t and calls themselves a “decent Mesmer” is fooling themselves.
Had a warrior rage at me for using “cheat condition build”, and “cheat perplexity” even though I don’t use perplexity runes, then rage at my use of torment, as that makes me a condition build. I tried to explain it was on scepter 2 but it didn’t matter, it was cheating. If you use condi you have no skill, apparently. If you’re pure power with no condi food etc, then you’re playing with pure skill. Made me a little sad to see this guy steeped so heavily in his own scrub thinking instead of playing to win. Anyway, I decided to make a video and chat log of the whole episode.
(the amount of times I have had people ask me if I am running pu when regen appears on my buff bar)
Despite being a Power based Interrupt build, I frequently get accused of being a condi based PU build.
People…
Try playing full glass cannon, no PU, and still getting called a PU baddie.
This is what PU has done to our reputation.
No. This is what scrubs do to themselves. It has nothing to do with us, or the Mesmer class. You need to remember that or you’re just as bad as them.
Careful, you’ll get yourself perma banned talking about buffing mesmer.
Another note is that a traited ranger is really the only thing that can hit the inner cannons in Stonemist. I’m on a smaller server but I have seen several commanders call out for longbow rangers to hit those annoying cannons. I’ve thought in game about forming a party of entirely rangers when attacking SM to go around just focusing on that inner siege. Suffice to say that rangers do have their uses in World vs. World. Personally I like to think that everyone is jealous of the awesomeness that rangers provide but some people think them’s fightin words.
Or you could bring a balista.
PU is OP? In a running race? In a DPS race? Heck, even in a stealth race? I don’t think so.
Interestingly enough, it’s funny how a single grandmaster providing reliable protection is holding up an entire class right now. At the same time, in all other areas, its nerf nerf nerf. Oh, except mantras, but come on…
6, 4, 0, 2, 2, full zerk, yolo easy mode high dps murder death kill.
This thread doesn’t seem very productive.
The question is, are the staff burns necessary? The staff brings its usual whole heap of survive, but the build lacks any kind of swiftness and mobility outside of blink (and situational staff leap). Doing away with staff you can still maintain burn pressure while adding in that witch the build sorely lacks. It also opens up trait options.
Now We have 15.5s swiftness on 20scd, plus the focus utilities including the warden + curtain condi cleanse on a 20s cd. Free’s up a util and/or replaces torch which has the longer CD anyway (though can’t compare in sake of ease).
Or drop focus cd and take Vigorous Revelation for 100% vigor up time via shatters. More dodges, more clones. Or if you want to be really alternative take compounding celerity and have near swiftness speed for chasing, drop the focus and take pistol *cough*madness*cough*.
You lose a little bit of condi damage changing the setup, but it’s not so bad as to make any significant impact.
I know I’m going to get trash talked by other Mesmer players but… Osicat, can you please stop promoting PU builds or similar like these? Where perma protection, near perma regen, heavy stealth, AI (and other stuff I wont even mention, you know you class already) just outclass everything you encounter? Making these junk builds popular is definetly not good for the game as a whole.
Flame away fellas.
I fully agree, but as you can see the “Forum Celebs” and fanboys (and girls) do not. Unfortunately the state of competitive players has become “use what’s easy” and anything else is subpar and makes you a scrub.
I’ve learned to use it to my advantage. You always know what people are going to be using, so prepare to counter it. It’s what makes fighting other mesmers so easy lately.
You say you fully agree but go on to demonstrate that you play to win. Oxymoron.

Don’t promote scrub play. Play to win.
I run guardian in zergs/commanding. I’ve also used it plenty during PU roaming. With staff and a burn focus id say its meh, but without the staff side the runes and burns are solid.
This was the video (and subsequent grilled cheese build on the forums) which inspired pyro, I think.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6NeyXVwDaw
It was just an experiment to beat someone only using staff clones and burn procs. It’s pretty weak in the meta.

Was it this guy?
Meh. That’s didn’t last long. I was still trying to figure out how best to use it.
It was probably too good to be true. Mesmers don’t get nice things.
Edit: Just found this. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Merged-topics-Achievement-bug-no-chests-dailies-stuck/page/3#post3924559
Apparently we’re more important than daily achievement bugs.
Correction: Thieves are more important than daily achievement bugs.
Some simple yes and no without the attitude would be nice.
How would them using sigils be broken?
A recent bug provides a good example
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Nightmare
Nightmare runes have 50% chance to proc 2s fear. CD 90s. If each clone had his own rune set (as was the case with the bug), then every second time a clone is struck he’s going to cause a 2s fear. And every newly spawned clone comes with a fresh set of nightmare runes with no CD.
As for attitude, don’t mind Pryo, he’s just caustic. Some say he’s made out of tin, and doesn’t have a heart. But so long as he’s kept well oiled he’s a pretty smooth guy.
Yes.
Looking at Krait it just doesn’t seem worth it for mesmer. Our shortest elite cd is 90’s. You could take another rune set for more/better effects, and add the effects the krait runes provide in other areas.
Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were mesmers who used Krait. Ive not seen anyone say they’re using them for a long time.
You seem to primarly be fighting melee. Nothing wrong with that, you certainly take them to town. It did make me wonder how you’d do against some more of the nastier condition classes/builds. I think I saw a couple 1 necro who appeared to be glass, no mesmers but I didnt get to watch the end. Loads of warriors, thieves, and a guardian.
Nice build, nice gameplay, nice vid.
A shadow refuge is not a win to the thiefs opponent. If the thief pulls it off, he’s executed exactly what he wanted to in order to maintain the position of power in the fight. He can choose to leave or reengage at his discretion. Even if he’s downed within the refuge, there’s a good chance he’ll heal well before his stealth + downed skills run their course. Scrub standards of victory only do damage to players. Play to win.
That aside, stealth isnt the real problem, its the rediculous amount of evades coupled with teleports.
zoom hacking is no longer an issue, as i have 3 monitors i can confirm ACs now have a limited LoS that can hit, reguardless if a player has the ability to see somewhere the AC seems to be limited by a set standard LoS limitation
See? Zoom hacker confirmed.
Yeah, no. I don’t see that happening.
Julie, you CANNOT salvage armor purchased with wvw badges.
You missed the “If its a salvagable item”.
Also, the Upgrade Extractor Tool argument still stand.
It costs less in gold to purchase an exotic off the TP than it does to purchase the gems for a single extraction kit. The argument might hold validity, but it’s wildly unpractical. Bl salvage kits can be obtained for free.
Jihm, I looked at your post history and realized “Hey, I know this guys posts from around the forums!” Interestingly they were all the same guy, which I hadn’t realized.
That said, you seem to have your pet peeves, such as skyhammer, and mesmers. It was funny to see you combine the two together with your comment in this thread.
All that said, I don’t really see any reason to change anything when all you’re doing is moaning and groaning. Your complaints are fairly baseless. I get it, you’re annoyed at the shortcomings in your life, but really, move on.
Here,
Loads of vids in the thread, or just watch this one

Lately ive been running zerk armor with cav trinkets instead of my usual rabid gear with cav trinkets, just for a change. With all the runes of str and might stacking taking place out there atm, you get your condi boost plus power boost with a quick arcane thievery steal of might. People dont realise what happened.
Advanced Scout for solo roaming.
FYI, build is slightly out of date. Boon duration runes are out, and I haven’t decided on a new set yet.

You gave up Staff for Sword? Before you ask what stats to use, ask yourself if that was a good idea. I mean, really.
This guys right. If you’re some newbie mesmer who relies on staff for survival, or if you’re running a build that lacks survival in all other areas therefor the staff is necessary to plug that hole, then you won’t want to drop staff. Otherwise, go hard.
I prefer sword/torch, scepter/focus myself.
Confusion damage was nerfed by 50%, and along with icd on blinds on glamour, confusion builds were nerfed to non-viability.
In general across all mesmer builds, the confusion damage nerf was an overall damage nerf to mesmer. We’ve never been compensated for that.
Staff chaos armor was nerfed, no protection on skill use. Chaos armor was nerfed introducing an icd per target between condis/boons applied. So immortal builds became unviable.
The condi meta put mesmers on the back foot.
Phantasms retal trait was nerfed in the healing line.
Vigor on crit was just nerfed to 5s instead of 10, so no more perma vigor for 5 in dueling. This effects everyone, but hits shatter builds clone production hard. Also makes us more prone to things like hammer stun spam warriors etc. Note: perma vigor is still accessible, but you need to trait differently.
So many other nerfs its hard to pull them all out of the hat.

Another point to throw on the long list of why this Ferocity change was poorly thought out and not needed.
Actually it’s good. A shatter mes will have an easier time surviving vs power/crit burst. Meanwhile Anet can start increasing the damage on particular class features where needed, i.e. shatters, or blurred frenzy, etc.
First post the entire build including gear.
Get on and do some testing like the rest of us?
Can I hold your hand for you today on your way to work too?
Okay this week has been the most exciting week for a lot of us Blackgate players. But one of the most interesting things happened last night (April 13 2014 at 9:04 est) in BGBL. We were about to take back our Garrison and once we broke down the door, this is what awaited us on the other side. Can anyone tell me what is WRONG with this pic? LOL
BG has the audacity to think it deserves a keep?
You sound squishy, build better.
Also as said above, you’ve got a full kitten nal available to shut a hammer warrior down.
This guy got a pantsing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_8td7XyA1JU#t=979
Or look at it this way. Since when have Mesmers thus far needed to spend 10, let alone 30 plus a grandmaster trait choice in inspiration to meet their healing needs since launch?
