On a different note… I think the current defiant mechanics are fine? Notice how a lot of the fight is dependent on how you move your character and team around, dodging and etc? It’d be boring if it was so easy to interrupt a boss on a critical attack and the current mechanics forces your team and you to move and coordinate a lot more than just stand there and press a button at the right time.

The current mechanics also make your character feel totally worthless. The first thing you learn in ANY school of fighting, is how to interupt an enemy attack. Bosses need to be interuptable, and interuptable with the SAME FREQUENCY as the players can be interupted.

Bosses already hit like freight trains, no reason to give them anythign else.

In most MMOs I’ve played, most bosses aren’t interruptible on key points of the fights or when they do key abilities.

If you play a hammer warrior, you’ll be able to almost stun lock a boss. Combined with other players, it’ll make bosses just sitting ducks. I’m not sure why anyone would want more tank and spank bosses o.O. GW2 does give us dodging and a LOT of movement fights in the dungeons, and I find that really unique and refreshing.

Why do you guys want bosses to be easily interrupted as a player is? What I’m asking is: What do you expect from a boss fight? A boring straight forward fight where you can stand still? Or a more interesting fight with movement?

I expect bosses to have better AI. Right now they basically do nothing, they don’t randomly change attack patterns, randomly change tactics, etc. If you put both the player and AI on relatively the same playing field (minus the fact the boss has boosted stats) and now make the AI more eratic, suddenly tactics matter a whole lot. Right now you can beat any boss out there by being ranged and kiting well enough. THAT is boring.

Ascended loot, How to do it better

They need a non-fractal method of obtaining ascended gear already.

WvW players that are dedicated have been complaining endlessly about there being no other reliable method to obtaining ascended gear. Which is rather needed as any stat boost is an advantage, and in a close fight the smallest increase in stats could be all the difference.

Seriously, put the randomly dropped ascended items in the Orr altar chests, give fractals the tickets so they can choose what they get. Fractals is for the small group goers, allow dragons and the altar chests a decent (that means several handed out guarenteed over the multitude of players involved) chance at random non-bound ascended gear. This creates a market, which creates a more easily accesable route (and shuts up people complaining about the gear int he process) This allows the grinders of the fractals (personally I am not a fan of the dungeouns and won’t be till they give us the trinity back) the option to choose as they are doing the drudgery of constantly running the same thing endlessly, thus they deserve to choose the reward they get.

I would also add Ascended gear to the WvW vendor lists so the WvW crowd can get them without having to leave the killing fields.

Oh look, everyone is happy.

The daily is ment to be something you do automatically while questing. Not something you need to go out of your way to accomplish.

Also, you can only “complete” a jumping puzzle once in all reality. After you get the achievement it doesn’t continue counting, thus if you completed them all, you can no longer do those dailies, didn’t think of that did you?

Also, jumping puzzles are for the explorers, of which not everyone is, however everyone has to go kill things, do events, and anyone that doesn’t gather is missing out on a money maker and extra experience…so people do that already no matter what they like to do.

Why don’t we get them to remove WvW from the bloody PvE monthly before trying to alter it any farther hm?

If you add anything even like this, you create a tank/heal and we are back to the trinity.
Any threat mechanic that the players can manipulate creates a tank role and a healer role as designated. Thus the return to the trinity and thus the game loses what it has.

There is no need for it, people just need to pay attention more and spend less time in pure damage mode.

I’ve said it before, and said it again…games with PvP need to institute a hardened rule. No instant dispersal of the character. If you quick log, yoru character stands there for a full minute of total punching bag time. If you get killed, oh well.

Yes it is harsh to people that might go LD and then try to get back real quick (and some of us have had this happena nd can get back before even a minute passes) but it is better to go this route than allow instant logging.

Mkalafut hit the nail on the head. It simply wouldn’t work logistically.

It would also lead to people switching proffession then being helpless at how the class plays and synchronizes with others. Going from a buff guardian (staff and scepter based) to an elementalist would be a huge culture shock for someone that’s never touched elementalist for example.

It is just better to play from the start on an alt, part of the leveling process is to force us to learn how to handle that proffession in any situation.

Logan has quite the sense of humor if you do all three options of human, which is more than I can say of some (Caithe has serious ‘kill them all’ issues, Eir never cracks a joke that I can remember, while Zojja cracks jokes she also comes off as an 8 year old brat).
Logan made a bad choice, but it was a relatable one…also remember the type of government that exists for the humans. The Queen is what holds humanity together right now, if she dies quite a huge chunk of the unity that exists would falter and we would see warring human factions. The crown is a person that is irreplacable in the fuedal society, which is what Rytlockittenerally cannot understand due to absolutely no one being irreplacable in charr society. It really is that simple.

Also…every dungeoun I have ever ran that had logan in it, he always out survived everyone. Even in the Zhaitan fights he simply out survives others (had him tank entire fights against 2 of the first 3 bosses several runs, his heal bubble is used when certain conditions are met apparently).

Of them all, Zojja is the one I dislike the most, but then I am biased…I really hate the midgets. The only one I honestly like 100% is Efut of the Vigil haha.

Also, as someone said above me, Rytlock’s entire bearing in the first dungeoun rather sums up his primary malfunction…

I like logan, however Eir is my favorite…I just wish there was a body type for male norn that made them look more human/normal in proportion so… so many armors wouldn’t look just absolutely rediculous on them!

Actually Mkalafut, you are the one set in your ways if you stopped reading. Also if you stopped reading you would note, I’ve never had a bad experience. Way to assume, next time read it all before responding.

Once again, if your officers are unable to lead in your absence, then get new officers. The entire point of them is so they can lead and take some of the burden from the leader, or outright lead in the guild leader’s absense.

Think ejecting them is too harsh? Then auto place them to co-leader (currently you can have multiple leader level individuals that also are inable to demote other leaders, only a leader can demote themself). Thus you never lose your “oh so precious” rank. Other games I’ve been in would demote a guild leader to officer status and promote a random officer if the guild leader did not log in for 30 days. Seriously, it’s not a huge deal, if you aren’t there to lead and do what is expected of the position you shouldn’t be there. At the end of the day IT IS A GAME. It should not be a huge depressing thing to find out you aren’t guild leader anymore when you get back from whatever RL event took you from the game.

WvW-Guild reward defending claimed objective

Personally I fully believe that your kharma and exp gains hould shrink depending on how many people are in an area. 70 people attacking a small outpost should net zero exp/kharma…there is no difficulty there AT ALL with such a force so there should be no reward.

A group of 10 doing it? They should net the reward.

Empower and suddenly spawn guards if overwhelming forces (ie zergs) appear at the small camps. 70 people show up? Suddenly the camp guard is as strong as Jormag’s Claw and starts two shotting people (dead bodies of enemies continue to count as “alive” for as long as they are in range of the camp for purposes of this). If it isn’t as severe as that then double the guards and make them all at dungeoun silver mob status with perminant stability. Note: these buffs don’t exist if the attacking zerg is met by an equally strong defending zerg, the empowerment is ment to balance out the overwhelming numerical advantage.

Defending (even if you lose) should net a reward.

These changes would destroy the zerg mentality and quickly get people into a defense mindset and an “attack with apropriate numbers” mindset. The zerg mindset isn’t even remotely fun, no matter which side of it you are on. It is BORING to just steamroll over other realms, and it is just frustrating to be unable to fight in WvW due to being outnumbered severely. It is really time they make some huge changes that punish the zergs and encourage small group attacks on the small places and only encourage zerg strategies on the keeps.

Inactive leader? By all means a month of inactivity should auto punt them and create a vote where members just click a checkmark beside the officer that they feel warrents the leader status. Simple, straightforward, automatic.

You’re a guild leader in the national guard, you were in Hurricane Sandy and no longer have a home, you were struck with an illness and hospitalized, you’ve lead an amazing guild for years and years and built it from the ground up with hard work and dedication.

You’ve been pulled away because of one of the situations in the first paragraph and return to find that the guild is no longer yours and all that work you did is now gone and you have nothing to show for it except for someone you never knew is in charge of what you made.

I think you see where I’m going with this. If anything is put in to automatically revoke a guild leader his or her guild, it would cause outrage. It’s unreasonable to request such a feature that would automatically boot a leader from their position because of extreme circumstances.

Granted, s—- does happen and guild leaders do sometimes bail, but I’ve only ever seen that happen twice in my entire gaming career (a long time). That’s a minority of the cases though, and while the OP was unlucky enough to get caught up in it, it’s not the norm – and would only punish legitimate guild leaders that lost their home to a natural disaster, got sick and had to be inactive for a while, etc…

I hope you see my point here and why any feature like this is only punishing to fair, decent people who simply had bad luck. If your guild leader up and left for no reason either something happened in real life beyond his or her control, or they weren’t fit to run a guild in the first place and you’re now better off and can find a new place to call home in the gaming world.

Either way the best option is simply wait it out and if time passes long enough to where nothing is being done, you need to realize it’s time to move on.

Guild leader means you are there to LEAD your people. If you can’t lead, then step down and move aside for someone who CAN be there.

Also, if you have lead your people properly, the only officers you have are people you can trust, therefore it is someone who, barring you have a HUGE lapse of judgement, have officers who upon your return will promote you again to leadership or, you will return to the guild as an officer and get to know where people are at.

Sorry but I’ve lead many good guilds and even a few great ones (several continue to this day in the game’s they were created for as I tend to create guilds for an RP purpose that is singular for a given game). As a guild leader the first thing you need to do is check your ego at the door. Your guild doesn’t exist for your whims or your wants, it exists because of the community you form under it’s banner. You gather like minded people, or people who form a family of sorts that is happy to be together and have fun together. I see far too many “leaders” (put in quotes as you obviously aren’t true leaders) that are selfish in the extreme and believe they are the reason for everything the guild has done, reality check: you aren’t. The guild exists and continues because of the people, not the because of any one individual.

I’ve left games and passed leadership onto who the guild wanted more than once because of RL issues, every time I returned they handed me back the position without me saying a word simply because everyone respected one another and recognized how much of my personal time I sacrificed for everyone else (hint, the guild leader should NOT be the first person with a legendary weapon…it screams of personal greed and how you view the guild). Actually talk to people and learn about them, and your officers will back you up. Spend no time with people, hardly talk, or allow yourself to get caught up in a click (something that larger guilds inevitably begin forming, and something a leader should never allow themselves to form around themself) and yeah then you will return and hardly know anything. Actuallys pend time doing what you should as a leader and when you come back the only things that will have changed is new faces, new alts, and changes to the game people will happily catch you up on.

A leader should know that when bad times come, his people will ensure the guild survives and continues, even removing them from the leadership position if need be to ensure the guild continues to thrive. When you are able to come back, they should welcome you easily if you were true to them. If you were a bit of a jerk, well then you deserve a cold reception.

Note the “you” in all of this is the theoretical individual in question, no personal meaning at all is intended.

Abusive leader? Just leave. Seriously if there is alot of you it would not take long to rebuild the guild’s earned perks. Or talk to some of the smaller guild’s. GW2 is especially rife with smaller guilds happy to house people short term or long term. Hell with an influx of people some of those guilds could easily be the home you always wanted.

Inactive leader? By all means a month of inactivity should auto punt them and create a vote where members just click a checkmark beside the officer that they feel warrents the leader status. Simple, straightforward, automatic.

Ascended items has single handed killed world PvE. Rather than fix the Orr grind and allow 80’s to get the SAME rewards in any map, they put everything intot hat one dungeoun and look…the world is nigh a ghost town even on high population servers. You only see large groups of people at dragon fights (and even then primarily only at Claw of Jormag).

They need to just backpedal completely and place ascended items and the things required to make them all over the PvE world. Theres no reason to lock them inside of the dungeoun and force everyone on the treadmill (yes it is a bloody treadmill to run a dungeoun over and over and over again). GuildWars has always been about having fun anywhere and no stat increases. Trying to appease the crowd that needs vertical progression has caused more people to leave the game than would have been lost from the vertical crowd leaving. People came expecting the same commitment GW1 had in removing vertical progression. Thus ANY vertical outside of the established exotic is destroying any trust and faith Anet had from the vets.

They have to make a choice, compete with WoW directly in vertical progression, or remove it and keep pure horizontal progression and keep the niche they have that has no competitors. Vertical progression should be guild based…ala guild halls and hanging things in the hall from the dungeouns, etc. Speaking of, we were told that guild halls would appear after a few months of the game being live…it’s been a “few months”…so where the heck are they?

A great way to fix the fact it is so hard to find storymode dungeouns on alts…make AA require regular running of storymode dungeouns with different dungeouns ran every day. IE: you run AC on monday, can’t get credit for another AC untill atleast running every other storymode once. I’d even push it into a forcably making people run the dungeouns with “gasp!” new people to get credit! Have the list reset every 24h period. This forces people to help others and promotes pugging and promotes the guilds to actually utilize members outside the clicks that always form in the larger ones.

The third Heavy armor class :offensive caster

Runiir.6425

Guardian’s are paladins…their magic is that of the gods and spirits. Hence the spirit weapons, the emphasis on support and buffing rather than debuffing, and the prayer book weapons. The guardian is the class that is directly linked to belief in something higher than yourself (gods, spirits, etc). It is this reason why you get poked fun of (something most likely don’t even get/understand unless they play the same story with a different class) if you make a Charr Guardian, after all they hate the very idea of religion.

A heavy armor wearer that uses magic exists, the Guardian.
A heavy armor magic user that is basid in offense and debuffing rather than buffing however does not exist. However the class would need an inherent flaw/weakness. Warriors have limited condition removal and self healing (and if you trait to solve this your damage output is far lower than other wars). Guardians are VERY limited in their access to ranged weaponry (and no way to solve this problem either). Meaning the class would need an inherent flaw that other classes can exploit in pvp, be it a weakness in melee (weak melee skills in term of raw damage) or perhaps just a total inability to buff themselves.

If you want them to consider an idea seriously, give a serious balanced class idea, including inherent weaknesses that are like giant red target signs on ways to exploit and slaughter said class. Yes, every class has such a weakness.

[Sollution] Condition Stacking & Boons

in Suggestions

Posted by: Runiir.6425

Runiir.6425

It obviously is not a huge problem as Anet has not adjusted it once.
Therefore it is obviously causing enough damage that they are happy with it.

Remember that once a condition is applied it deals it’s damage without any mitigation unless it is cleansed. Most PvE mobs do not cleanse (which is where so many of you complain about this cap). Dungeouns are ment to push teamwork, this means knowing how to build with who you are with, or knowing to not focus the same enemy that your other condition teamate is working on.

Also for note, if you keep stacking poison on a mob that has poison, and someone else outdoes you on possible poison damage, you may not be the root cause of the damage but you pushing it’s duration farther along does get added to your total contribution. The same way it does for burning.

Once again, you are still getting credit for the fight. All this focus on personal damage to me screams of people wanting to stroke their own ego.

As for pvp, if you are condition based, you can re-apply them so fast that a cleanse is barely a speed bump.

As for more f skills from the pets, I disagree. That’s what your utility skills are for. If you want beastmaster mode then equip ranger shouts. They take up actual skill slots just like in GW1.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with the pet. You can be melee or ranged and make full use of your pet. You can even mostly ignore the pet minus needing to hit f4 when one dies.

The class is fine as it is, and is balanced completely around having a pet. If you hate pets then this ranger is not for you. Thief has your shortbow and warrior your longbow. Both don’t have pets, and really don’t have any complicated mechanics, both of those are even aoe spamable and the warrior especially is still capable of surprisingly high single target damage with the bow (including giving people an aoe might buff when using the exploding arrow inside of the adrenaline fire arrow).

5 minutes should be the maximum expected fight time, it should always be assumed that people will not have perfect timing on things, expect worste case scenario always, if people use voip and perfect everything and kill it in 2 minutes than more power to them. I personally grow incredibly bored in an intricate “dodge this, light that, just survive” style of fight after the 5 minute mark when int he smalls cale. This kind of fight is perfect for a dragon where you have a hundred players and there is no shortage of rezzers, but it is BORING in a 5 man fight where going down is tantamount to being perminantly out of the fight if people aren’t on you in a second.

Added increases of difficulty can give those players that window of expectation of a longer fight that wish to push themselves.

They already have the Tengu slated as an eventual expansion(you can even run along the Tengu’s great wall in several maps). It is nigh inevitable that there will be a large kodan related release as well, perhaps not playable, but an extremely kodan themed expansion that is linked with Jormag.

Do not forget there is also the crystal and magma dragons…though the magma one is more of an underground dragon and wiped out the dwarves (so much for having that race =/) Though I can expect it to be centered around dredge and skritt, chances of skritt being playable given how many variations and armor/weapon variations you see them with throughout the game where as dredge always use the exact same models. I’m not sure what to expect from the crystal dragon really as it focused on the charr and human lands and really didn’t drag in any other races to the conflict there. Well, they seem to have elementals being crystalized but that’s hardly ripe for a new race unless they make humanoid elementals.

Now that I think of it, imagine humanoid elementals…would be ripe for an interesting lore and culture.

Besides, bots are quite easy to see anyway, especially if they are many, just look at them for a little while, sharp turns usually give them away, and no moving during combat. And if they are several on the same route they will all run on a line and stand in the exact same place while in combat.

New players tend to also play like this.
As do older players (I know of atleast 2 70+ year olds playing).
They sharply turn, don’t move in combat unless absolutely necessary, etc.

LOL your assumption based post are an indication of what I am debating against so let me make this clear for you.

I DON’T PLAY A THIEF IN PVP does the bold and Caps make it easier to read. :-)

Second off your comment of No other class has the ability to determine when and where, and for how long a fight last. This is the problem.

You obviously have little to no experience in pvp. This is not assumptive this is an observation for you

Mesmers have two abilities that turn them Invisible. How is that not
“determine when, where, and for how long a fight lasts.”
They have one skill out of those two that turns a group in visible hows is that not
“determine when, where, and for how long a fight lasts.”

I have no problem with engineers or any other profession, my statement was rhetorical and an example given that is you remove one mechanic form a profession you will have to start removing mechanics from all professions

You want a way to remove them

Set traps, Bubble, Turrets, Dodge away form said area there are plenty of ways to make stealth obsolete. Since Stealth only last 3 seconds it is pretty simple to out last it.

Mesmer stealth is extremely limited, and only a fool of a mesmer uses it offensively, as it ensures they won’t have them when they honestly need them (after I’ve rampaged through every clone they can toss out). Mesmers are not hard to kill, just rip through the clones before they can pop them. Mesmers cause almost no real damage on their own. YOU obviously fail at PvP good sir.

Mesmers also don’t auto heal and auto cleanse while in stealth and cannot even trait for it. Look back up at what has been said. THIS is the primary issue, everythign else is a problem for one segment or another but the primary issue is that thieves can trait to make stealth far too useful…tot he point of becoming a horribly broken mechanic.

A thieve can only stealth three times

2 times they can go anywhere in 3 seconds.
1 of which is a AoE stealth that is not hard to find the Thieve.

I am not saying a thieve needs stealth to win a fight, but if you start taking a machanic away form one profession lets take away enigineers Turrets. Lets take away other professions abilities also.

I have no problem with Stealthing Thieves never have, I guess I just know how to play against it.

Most people that are Complaining about stealth being over powered are people that do not understand how to combat it. So lets remove it and the utility of it because some players can’t learn to to counter it.

That is the reaction one expects from someone that feels a favorite toy is being broken.

No other class has a mechanic that allows them to determine when, where, and for how long a fight lasts. This is the problem.

Have a problem with turrets? Just lead the engineer away from them…most engineers get target fixation….same with warriors and banners. Guardians? Don’t open with a skill, open with a normal attack to strip aegis away.

There is no way to forcably remove and keep off stealth. There is a way to forcably remove everything from other class (kill the pet, strip aegis, kill necro lifeforce bar, kill turrets, kill clones) yet no way to forcably stop and prevent a thief from stealthing. How about a new debuff that every class has access to, that cannot be cleansed off that prevents stealth for 30 seconds (still longer than the recovery of aegis that so many people grumble about guardians having for free).

Kaimick, that is all well and good. However the problem remains that it is rediculous that stealthing in combat is allowable without at the least a cooldown of half a minute between stealth usage. Force thieves to actually fight. Yes, thieves can fight without stealth…my own thief doesn’t stealth and manages to kill people just fine. If someone says thieves need stealth, I can show you someone that hasn’t truly played the class to the fullest yet.

Yes the playstyle is fun, being able to stealth repeatedly, however it is horribly broken. Really alot of these complaints from people would go away if that while you were in stealth you also got a debuff making it impossible to heal (thus they need a new trait), impossible to cleanse (again another trait change needed), and immune to all speed buffs (so you have to move slow if you are stealthed), and make a thief forcably removed from stealth if they start to finish somone off. These are the primary problems with the thief for most people. It isn’t the stealthing so much as the fact a thief can have so many ways to stealth and stealthing can be traited to heal and remove conditions.

Fild, go do the tests yourself using the training dummies. There is a noticable difference.

If the inclusion of ascension gear proved anything, it is you cannot take what they say at face value and must go physically do the testing yourself. I’ve seen it multiple times through the game, the asura are at a disadvantage in this area…and they SHOULD be due to their size being such a strong benefit, especially in jumping puzzles.

Actually there is a benefit to being larger. This benefit is largely relegated to REACH.

Whatch an asura guardian and a norn guardian do the shield 5 skill (the dome shelter). The Asura barely is able to get allies while a single norn could protect 20 people without trying.

Larger characters also hit a larger area with melee weapons. I tested this just last night to make sure. Warrior axe 5 skill, spinning whirlwind. The asura seems limited to about 300 radius while the other races are able to hit 600. That’s a pretty large discrepency.

That said, there is no difference when it comes to things like shouts or any targeted aoe spell such as elementalist storms or necro marks.

Also, amusingly enough, you can hit an asura in melee from farther away as everyone shares the norn hit box size.

The benefits of being small, are outweighed by the fact the larger races get more bang for their buck from melee reach.

Stealth

First of all Thieves are by far not the only class that can go 1v2 or 1v3 and win. Both War and Guard can pull it off if built right. If you are versing a glass cannon ( most of the time if they stealth that much you are) then use a ground targeted AOE and stay in it and watch it mess him up when he attacks. I ran glass cannon on my thief for a bit and a couple ticks from an AOE would cost me most of my health.

This hole game is about finding builds to counter your oppents build. Why can’t people understand that? So yes you may be able to take down some builds with the one you use but there will always be others that can beat you.

Fine, then make stealth not be true invisibility and instead make it a cloaking device of sorts. Your character goes clear but there is still an outline ala any storyline with caithe (this is how her stealth works if you watch her).

If suddenly not being totally invisible makes things harder on thieves, GOOD! The entire premise of being able to stealth after engaging in combat is bloody rediculous. Unlike most people on these forums I’ve actually trained in sword combat, knife combat, armored combat, etc…once combat is engaged you aren’t suddenly going to dissapear. It simply cannot happen, you could even try dropping a flashbang at my feet, game mechanic wise that would make ME go invisible along with you. Smoke? Guess what? That also makes me go invisible along with you. Seriously, THIS is how th game should function, if a thief uses a stealth skill while in combat they also give stealth to the opponant and the opponant gets every benefit the thief does (meaning if the thief cures conditions and heals while entering stealth, so does the opponant). Our characters are supposed to be trained fighters, veterans of combat on an insane level, a thief should be SOL when it comes to restealthing in combat.

This coming from someone that still kills thieves as it stands more often than they kill me. I just find the entire mechanic rediculous.

Personally I think they need to just get rid of the 2nd life bar entirely. The event is over…you won’t have 4-5 people backing you up anymore. Fighting these things is NOT fun in any stretch of the imagination.

Non Ascended Servers

Except thats wrong runiir
Ascended is the new Exotics
It’s the new Plateau
there is no advantage over other players i
onlyWvW would be touched by it
But the difference in points is so minimal
even with all 14 items Ascended versus Exotics, the relative difference remians the Same
Ascended will be aviable through WvW as the designers said
and an advantage because people dont have to pay for runes?? Have you Seen the price on ectos and T6? One Ascended is way more expensive than full Exotics with upgrades

Which goes against the design philosophy of easily accessable top tier gear. Note that phrase “easily accessable”.
Do I need to say it again?

There was never to be any gear treadmill, no grind for top level stat gear. Note the wording here, top level gear. Ascension gear is now top level gear. To remain true and not be blatent liars, Anet must make ascension gear easily accessable. We’re talking pathetically easy as exotics are now.

GW has always been about easily accessable gear so that people can have fun doing whatever they want to do at the time and not feel like they have to have top tier gear just to be on equal footing with others.

Either all content is tuned to exotics in the future, and the treadmill lovers go crazy and threaten to leave…or content gets tuned for ever increasing stats and they lose the WvW enthusiasts and the GW1 vets.

Either way, the inclusion of ascension armor has been viewed as a slap in the face by a large portion of the community due to it being better than exotics stat wise instead of being dead even on the stats and simply having the slot for a very narrow and specific protection.

Dedicated Healer Bad - Debunked

No enrage timer, that only forces you to USE a deadicated healer and dedicated dps builds.
Also, just because a class is capable of healing does not mean people will be willing to act as healer for any amount of time. The DPS grunt mindset is strong even in GW2 and only those who naturally take the tank or healer roles in traditional MMOs ever act as support in GW2.

Lets face it, GW2 only has 2 roles.
Support: those who equip methods of healing, cleansing, and buffing others on purpose and keep an eye out on others. Also those who purposefully draw attention of a mob and begin kiting and LOSing it to act as a psuedo tank.

DPS: Those who basically only worry about self survival and how many big numbers they put out.

There are far more people in the 2nd catagory than the first.

This is where you just go “screw lore” and move the dang dungeuon to an easily accessable (read no vets on the way AT ALL, only a moron gives mobs 2 life pools and thinks players will find it fun rather than anoying… or give a mob methods to daze and stack repeat confusion on you for an entire fight) to the new island and let LA get back to normal.

Non Ascended Servers

I like the idea of Non-Ascended Servers because it reminds me of Classic servers from Dark Age of Camelot. The DAoC Trials of Atlantis expansion caused such a rift in the community because of new large scale raid encounters and gear grind that people simply quit. Mythic saw how much of an issue this was so they created the Classic servers which had no content from the TOA expansion in them. It was very nice to play with a gear plateau and let skill decide the victor.

Maybe you don’t realize but Ascended gear is not going to blow Exotics out of the water. This is not WoW Blue pvp gear in comparison to Season 15 Arena gear. We are talking a slight upgrade in stats which is the main one of Agony. The game still has a Gear plateau as you put it, just now we have gear in the game that can show a status of how dedicated a player is to the game. Much like legendary’s but with gear

It is a slight upgrade per peice, an upgrade per peice of several stat points. When they have full ascended armor sets, trinkets, etc…it will add up. Right now they have rings and back items in the game. Having ANY increase in stats above exotic does break the design philosophy they originally stated.

The devs and designers have been quoted, numerous times mind you, of not putting a gear treadmill into the game. Here is the problem: if you institute even a single stat point advantage, you force anyone wanting to be at top performance in WvW into getting it. Congratulations! You now have a gear treadmill.

This does drastically effect the game for many individuals. Note there is no way to get ascended gear through PvP. Ascended gear has a stat advantage (and a monetary advantage as they have built in upgrades into stat alocation meaning you don’t have to track down/pay for slot upgrade) that is present in PvP. Any advantage your enemy has you have to find a way to cancel out. Only way to cancel this one out is to grind away at content many have no interest in.

ddoi…I know MANY warriors would wish hundred blades did stop the moment you missed just so they wouldn’t keep doing the animation while gettign ripped apart from behind or from outside the conal attack range.

I pvp with mine, my girl pve’s with her’s and has almost zero problems. The mesmer is not and was never intended as, a dps. You are a support class. Designed from the ground up to help out with a group. A solo mesmer is the weakest class in the game when it comes to damage…by design. You also have more ways to confuse/interact/effect a battlefield to your side’s favor than any other class.

Thiefs need a nerf.

Seriously, they just need to put a perminant 20 second timer upon LEAVING stealth, no traits to lower it, it prevents reuse of stealth.

NO ONE can dissapear whent hey are enguaged in melee combat. The entire rpemise of the thief having these skills is completely rediculous. The idea of temp stealth in combat is likewise rediculous. Upon entering combat a thief should be visible at all times. Event he mesmer’s bag of tricks gives them no more than 3 sec of stealth and atleast they can claim to have magic as for how they get that. A thief stealthing after entering combat makes no sense.

The entire class should have been designed around evades not stealth.

Yes! I’ve said this multiple times that an npc faction should randomly attack keeps (more numerous attacks on whichever server is holding the most land at any given time) to spread out the war effert and make zerging a surefire way to never having much land owned.

They should scale dungeouns to the number of people in the party and call it a day.
Minimum of 2 people required to run.

Failign that, turn all silvers to veterans, cut boss health and damage output in half, and call it a casual instance with half the tokens. So yeah it is easier but it takes twice as long to get the equipment. That is also equally fair. Do note that changing them to vets will also lower the loot drop (silvers have higher loot chances if you haven’t noticed and they drop more money).

Hi…did you go to that GREAT party on 1st and roenoak? No? Duuuude, you missed a GREAT party! Aerosmith just showed up and rocked out because they were in the area. That will NEVER happen again man!

The game is like RL…events happen that you won’t experience, times change, days change, but it is nice. I totally missed out on the holloween even and the nice back item. So what? It’s NICE to be in a game where world changing events can happen with or without us. Seeing the world change is a GOOD thing.

Seriously, this isn’t broken. You realize your phantoms are considered ATTACKS. Your opponant dies and it is destroyed. It is an attack. It isn’t a fully formed pet. There is no reason for you to whine, be more careful in when you use them like every other class has to with their attacks.

A mesmer is not a damage class. You are not ment to cause big numbers without a lot of effort or build up time (our best damage comes from staff equiped, one clone, 2 warlock phantoms…or put 3 locks up on a large boss figh tlike a dragon and you push numbers no one else can touch).

The mesmer is a “build up” damage individual. The class has no honest spikes, it is a wear down with constant barrage of attacks and misdirections. Even with the change I have little trouble dealing with people 1 on 1. That being what the class is designed to do (hence why they have been known as “duelists”…a duel being 1 on 1).

The class is designed for misdirection, not damage. Out think your opponant while dealing lesser damage and still rip them apart with a death of a thousand cuts.

If you wanted to do spike damage or aoe damage regularly…you chose the wrong class. The mesmer is a duelist, a 1 on 1 fighter and a great class to use to confuse a group untill backup arrives.
