The effects need to be small, VERY small.
The faintests of glows for fire, barely noticable sparks for air, thin blood trickle for bleed..

This is not WoW. Massive particle effects don’t belong in this game. It looks rediculous and tacky. The flame legion armor is bad enough (and out of sync with the lore as it should only be spouting fire if you partake of the flame legion rituals…which are outlawed across tyria, thus if your wearing that armor every city guard/npc/pact/order/etc should be slaughtering you on sight).

Well, if gems to gold conversion wasn’t so abysmal, people wouldn’t go to the gold sellers in the first place.

Or, you know, if the main goals like legendaries were less of a grind and more dynamic and lose RNG from the process completely (clovers/precursor). You wouldn’t need as much gold for things and less of a reason to even be tempted.

Increase range of warrior's longbow

It is a 10 pt trait, if you wanted it to be range+something you are looking at a 20 pt trait.

Warriors are hardier, you can stand to get a little closer to use your aoe ranged weapon. I personally just use the rifle and pick people off one at a time, far more efficient givent hat the aoe damage can be soaked up by the masses.

Never had framerate issues. Gather a group of bandits and drop the bomb, half the health of 4-5 bandits is worth it.
Healing turrets only send out the messege if you have that turned on (or simply close the combat log if you are that worried about it).

Those boulders weren’t always in the water, people threw them there and they stayed int he water. The rocks floating at the dam just outside of DR are the same way.

Usually these things reset to normal when the servers restart but for some reason alot of them haven’t been.

I never feel that my character is getting any stronger

Eh? When I go back to lower level areas, I can solo many champions and group events. I just cannot do everything alone, but I’m still a lot stronger. Onehitting everything in an area would be plain boring. I’m currently working on 100% map completion, and I wouldn’t want to run around in those low level areas as an almighty god, also ruining events for actual low level players. Because no, for many people it’s not so cool when some stranger trolls in and takes any effort out of the game, especially with the dynamic grouping found in GW2.

PS: the game is not abound hunting items and grind. This should have become clear by now…

Ascended gear/legendaries/crafting/dungeoun token system/badge of honor system…thought you said this game isn’t about grinding?

Or the worse offenders, clovers of luck, and precursors.

JemL. You chose yet another game by NCSoft. Historically, Asian games are flashy, bright, with incredible particle effects and/or over-used particle effects. If you call that understated you need to take another look. Flashiness tends to be armor based, or skill based, B&S is heavy on the flashy skillsets.

Gotta love how the oposing opinion gets jumped on around here rather than actually talked out more often than not. Glowing armor and the like tends to be tacky at best. Glowing armor and the like sounds like a good idea, untill you get 20-40 people all wearing various glowing armor with particle effects standing around. It isn’t the art or aesthetic direction for the game. The armor tends to look interesting based on the details rather than the shiney particles. Which is one thing that makes the game stand out, as virtually every other game has top end armor that glows, spews particles, or both. Rather refreshing to have armor stand out based on detail instead of how large the shoulderpads are and how bright it is.

Most games with pets, also have pets take 50% less aoe damage. It is a blanket protection for lack of direct control. This protection usually comes with a slight cost of damage potential but most pets in this game already have low scale damage.

Illusions do not count as pets and should count as targets.

Let guilds decorate large structures the way they ant, players can claim various rooms and just decorate the room int he guild they have claimed as their own. If you stop repping a guild your stuff is immediately returned to you (oh look a built in way of rewarding members for stickign with one guild!).

Penalties for not wearing your proffession’s armor. Traits cannot lessent hese penalties and actually get turned off (if the penalty increases cooldown time on skills then all traits reducing cooldown get unequiped and greyed out untill you wear the proper armor).
When one trains to fight in a certain style of armor, wearing more OR less, affects how well you fight. Take a knight that trains and fights in fullplate for 5 years and have him fight without any armor and they will end up dead very quickly. Someone used to heavy armor also get used to a fighting style where they allow the armor to take hits that those in leather or cloth would be forced to block/parry. In the middle of combat, training takes over.
If you wear cloth you are used to dodging everything and not having weight holding you down. Suddenly you have this weight on you that is not just holding you down but restricting movement as well. trying to dodge blows as usual and not sos ure how much of a blow the armor can take, Weight slowing downt he dodge allowing an enemy to easily dispatch you.
Used to wearing leather armor, add metal over it and while (ironically plate armor is less restrictive than leather armor due to how it is fashioned and kepts on you) you are used to armor you will not be nearly so used to the weight or it’s defensive properties. Medium wearing light suffers from the same problems of heavy wearing light. Even leather armor wearers allow the armor to take hits rather than dodge.

As long as there is a negative (a negative that is NOTICABLE) than I am fine with it. I’d likely even take the negative in pve, course in pvp I’d wear my proper armor.

Wolfy, I am aware, however Anet skews it’s games european based in aesthetics.
There is a reason the Anet logo is on this game rather than the NCSoft logo (hint parent companies can force the logo change, benefit of being the one owning the other) they don’t due to the association. People see NCSoft and generally expect the typical bright colored flashes and explosions of their title game Liniage and Liniage 2, or the flashiness of Aion. GW is more low key and european aesthetics (note the near lack of anything asian in armor styles just yet, and it isn’t like old canthan styles that used to be available would suddenly vanish, new people would start making them after the isolation). Cantha will show up eventually, hopefully AFTER the bugs are ironed out and they fix precursors (supposedly being worked on) and lucky clovers (seriously the success rate should be closer to 75% rng based crafting is a great way to tell your players that you don’t value them).

Navzar I agree wholewheartedly…and am reminded of the rainbow lightsaber from SWG…

Or…you can get yoru exotic set and now explore and kill and enjoyt he world…JUST TO HAVE FUN! What a novel concept! Nothing to build for, nothing to constantly check on, nothing to boost your ego (tier climbs and such are a pvers version of an ego trip). Just go and have fun. Get rid of the carrot and just enjoy.

I agree that dungeouns need to be lowered in difficulty, and should be variable (a duo should be able to run them for less reward) and they should make it so creatures don’t leash to eliminate the speed run method currently inside of dungeons.

Katana for assassin?

Katana is just a type of sword skin.. it’s not a new weapon.

Katanas are light 2h swords, while great swords are massive. It is like a sword to a dagger.

Not all katanas are two handed.

ALL katana are 2 handed (they are light enough to be wielded in one hand if you train with them enough, no movie crap here). One handed katana are also shorter and known as wakazashi.
If they bring in katana, then I want no dachi (known as the fuju sword) basically a 6 foot kitana that is hard as hell to learn but once you do it makes any other 2h sword look like crap due tot he raw damage and speed you can get from a no dachi. A greatsword uses it’s bulk to cause damage and is a slower weapon. A no dachi is very much like having the length and cutting edge of a greatsword and the speed of a shortsword along with having the strongest cutting edge the world has ever known…there is a reason people feared no dachi masters…a well used one can kill horse and rider with a single cut and never present a target for them to hit.

That said…I’d rather they avoid the japanese flavor as we virtually have them (katana = reskinned longsword, no dachi = reskinned greatsword…unless they make new weapons rather than just reskins).
The style of the game is more steampunk meets dark ages…so flails, spears on land, halbreds on land, 2h axes, whips (albiet this one seems extremely silly as a whip against fullplate would do NOTHING).

I would also like to see nets be available as an offhand weapon.

Male norns look rediculous it is true. they made them resemble the hulk…yet the women look like big humans. Either the females need to be changed, or the males need to be made more human in ratio.

No species could evolve like that as a baby betweent he two would look like a blending. Didn’t anyone question the biology of this race at ALL while in chreation?!

Citadel of Flame armor is the flame legion armor. It looks rediculous and is made rediculous by the lore of the game. The armor should not have any flame on it while anyone wears it unless they are also adherents of the flame legion’s rituals and magics. Magics and rituals that all of Tyria considers blasphemous and outlawed thanks to what happened to Ascalon. So…wearing that armor and having flames come from it should make every currently friendly/allied mob in the game target you and attack without mercy, as you are representing a known enemy of every race in Tyria.

Yes, lore matters.

It’s a big problem with legendary weapons right now, most have no history, no lore. Only a very few (most notably the shield) has any lore and only people from GW1 would know of it thanks to the lackluster way they are implimented in this game.

They should just make party leader valid. Party leader is marked (so it is obvious). They cannot be kicked from vote features and can kick anyone else without a vote. It is simple, and those who try to abuse it get known pretty quickly and ostrasized from most any other MMO community.

i wish heavy armor was anywhere near close to the coolness Souls series have. Gw2 has pretty boring looking heavy armors for males and bikinis for chicks….

Where do you see bikini’s for the heavy armor females? My girl literally cannot find anything that isn’t ina dungeoun and has settle on the skin tight dragon scale armor.
Yeah there is the roman legion armor or the barbaric fur armor but neither is aesthetically pleasing unless you want that very specific look.

Yeah…no. No armor with particle effects all over them. This is not WoW, this is not an asian MMO (go look at some of the “special” armors from Aion).
Lets have armor that looks like armor. Fullplate armor is severely limited in this case, few armors look like good solid heavy plate (heck you don’t even see plate till 70+).

I personally find the flame legion armor rediculous for this game. The lore has the fire come from the person wearing it, not the armor itself, so why does it retain flames when we wear it? We aren’t members of the flame legion, don’t imbue ourselves with fire, thus we shouldn’t be spouting fire.
It’s fine for the legendary weapons…or if they had it, legendary armor.

They already have dye that is near legendary.

Abyss/Celestial – the tinting changes as it reflects the colors around it (more noticable on celestial, though abyss really changes with lighting changes better than celestial).

Midnight fire/ice – the tinting shifts based on the lighting. Midnight ice gets this frosted edges when around purple/white light, when in blue light conditions such as frostgorge it looks like ice is covoring your armor in a real thin sheet. Midnight fire shifts from a rust-brown to a brilliant ruby bright depending on the lighting.

There are a few other’s out there that are less rare with equally amazing looks (antique bronze shifts from dull bronze to shiney gold depending on lighting while it is on metal).

Axe/Axe and you will fill the adrenaline bars faster than you can spend them (even if you improve the cooldown). It is also the highest damage adrenaline skill we have access to (oddly single target when most axe skills are aoe).

How about we don’t do this. As right now most greatsword users run with a second melee weapon (which is POINTLESS) and get shafted in ranged fights…which is as it should be. If you fail to slot a ranged weapon for increased flexibility than that is your problem.

The thing warriors should get is an automatic faster switching without need for traits.

Better yet just make it actually rewarding to do anything in lower level zones. I thought the point of scaling everybody’s level down was to make it so proper rewards would be justified but obviously that’s just yet another broken promise.

When I am on my 80 running around lowbie land, yellows drop like candy. Getting full map completion on 3 lvl 15-25 zones I’ve netted 20 lvl 74+ rares and 2 exotics. Far better than I ever got by running at-level zones trying to farm lodestones (with one HORRID drop rate).

Would say they have made it better to be in lowbie zones. (people also buy up the white drops from lowbie zones far more than they want higher ones so I’m making more side money as well).

WvW: Standing on a wall grants Protection

Pull effects should have no effect for those on the wall (deal with it, it isn’t needed).
AOE effects should only have 75% chance to hit those on the wall (however it should deal damage to the wall as well).
Those on the wall should have 5-6 stacks of protection if they stay up there long enough. If protection is too much, then give that 75% chance to hit on all direct attacks as well.

The fight should always lean with favor to the defenders. There is a reason why sieges were never a guarentee, more often than not the attacking force would suffer incredible losses and retreat. WvW should favor defense over the zerg attack method.

Around 3g to get 5 stones from conversion…3g is NOT that hard to farm. Kill a few dragons, also level a low character and sell the crafting mats you find and the white drops on the TP.
Or stick to the high level and salvage cloth scraps fromt he higher level mob armors to TP the gossamer you find.

I would like to see more styles from gw1. Including the styles given as rewards available in the gem store. As these styles are at times the only way to get something even remotely different looking (medium armor being all longcoats coming to mind here).

Iunno, in GW1 it was all about the builds, if you didn’t have the specific one everyone wanted, you didn’t get in a party.

You need to find a better guild then, or more friends.
Good friends or a good guild embraces new builds and trying new things, a few deaths are worth laughing at. You may even shock people with what you can come up with.

Sure the typical tanking build was a requirement, but only if you had the typical healing build too. If your tank shifts things up, the support will have to adjust as well. Usually to amusing results when you find things work so much smoother after bucking the status quo.

The problem with mf is the problem they are running into.
They are trying to balance the economy based on everyone having some form of mf. Which negates what mf is all about to begin with. The stat is to be a bonus and not a requirement. Yet right now it is a requirement. The game should be balance (minus fractals) around characters wearing greens with zero MF. Thus if you go out of your way to get exotics you will see a marked improvement. Or if you choose to run with mf you will see a marked improvement in loot dropping.

If everything becomes cheaper due to many people playing with mf, such are things. Let the economy find it’s own balance and stop messign with the loot tables to “fix” the economy! While we are at it, something worthwhile should drop from everything higher than a normal mob. If I spend the time to kill a champ, I’m expecting yellow loot (guarenteed 5-10 lodestones or something geeze, this would bring the price down on these things as well). The dungeoun mobs should drop something, a craptonne of the lootable bags or trophy items that stack rather well…mind you I find these mobs have far too much hp and damage output for what they are…no one finds dungeoun trash fun when it is like this.

Having easier access to perminant musical items would add alot ore depth to the game world for RP as well, the wandering bard types would actually be able to play.

Incorect, in the GW games, “basic” stats are the top end. As top end gear was never ment to take grinding (heck in GW1 top end gear was GIVEN to you).

They need to take the grind out of the game, make fractals drop no money (really people should be doing it for fun, not loot…that is the game’s manifesto after all) and put the money back where it belongs, in the dynamic events out in the world.

There are also major glitches when wearing multiple sets (before they disallowed it, mixing heavy medium and light armor would cause rather odd glitches int he preview window).

If you exploit, you lose everything. No stages, no levels of bad. A simple large sweeping punishment.
Going easy on those bendign the rules never works out, you go for the harsh punishment and direct cancelation. If they still bend the rules they do so knowing they will get completely destroyed for doing so.
I would go the next step and computer ID ban, would truly make people stop.

Expecting the player to delete things is pointless.
Someone exploiting should have their characters deleted (after all if they exploit on one character they did it on them all), a total reset of the account back to zero.

Albiet the warrior list would become even more bloated.

Seriously onboard for a flail-type weapon…it’s a mace but certainly could NOT be used the way current mace skills are set up. Flails are more like wrecking balls than defending weapons.

Engineer, guardian, and mesmer already do everything the ritualist did. Any new proffs must add to the game with new styles of combat.
The shifting skillsets is already done by the elementalist.

The key is adding something new, not by picking special things from existing classes.

It amazes me how many people demand raids but always add in a line much like Xrage above “without any incentives”. Seems like far too many don’t actually want raids. If you only want raids for stronger loot, you don’t want raids.

If you would not do the content for the sake that it is fun, you don’t actually want it.

Passive Block on Shields &

Blocking attacks without input is something a shield does by virtue of being strapped to your arm and simply being in the away of an attack.

Seriously, armchair warriors, go out and fight witha shield and sword for awhile against others and see how many attacks you block without actively trying…it is the whole point of having a shield.
Want to have a cost for it? Make a passive block cost 30% of an adrenaline bar. After all, a valid strategy against someone with a shield is to bash your weapon against the shield hard over and over again to drain the strength of your opponant and make them sluggish.

Passive dodging/blocking already exists in the game (3rd attack for ranger longsword, 3rd attack for ranger greatsword both being examples) so Anet is not opposed to it. Obviously the melee rangers aren’t opposed to it.
The thieves out there are also not opposed to passive dodges (dagger/dagger being the most seen thief weapon load in spvp as they use the dual skill to evade large attacks while attacking).

So why all this crying over a passive block? Afraid your big attack will miss? Don’t throw all your faith into one hit and plan better strategies with the expectation that you will be evaded, which is what everyone fighting a thief already does.

Anyone that has ever learned how to fight with melee weapons eventually learns how to use a shield. Currently shields need a major overhaul.

The current toughness on a shield needs increased by about 4×.
20% passive chance to block incoming attacks should be added.
Remove skills designed specifically to block attacks (warrior 5 for instance should be a bullying skill that knocks the enemy over, THAT is what shields were used for on the field, pushing and knocking over enemies).

I’d be all for this, however raiding should have no unique skins, no unique gear (ie none of this crap we currenly have with fotm being only way to get proper back items or ascended rings).
Are you willing to do these raids if all the equipment looks exactly like crafted gear? If the answer is no, then every slippery slope argument is valid because you want something unique that DOES impact others.

BTW with all these conditions, I would do the raids for the challenge aspect.

A Third Soldier Class

The warrior and guardian already focus on buffing allies.
The 3rd soldier class should be a debuffer that uses weakness/vulnerability/daze. Make them the oposite of guardian (who has almost no debuffs) and make the 3rd soldier class have almost no buffing ability of any kind as a change of pace.

Gotta agree with Luffy, they need more variation.

Frostfang should change your shadow to ice and keep the ice under your feet at all times. The icefootprints, while cool, leave somethign to be desired.

Personally I think the profecies should cause pages to fly around your character when you actively use a shield skill.

The greatswords should have no ground based effects at all, only trails.

Rogdort, the torch, should give off light twice the normal for a torch.

Small touches and slight shifts in effects create more uniqueness. As for the shield seeming less legendary than others, I disagree…I find it to be one of the best looking legendaries in the game. Most of those footstep effects are incredibly tacky.
