Necromancer is good when rest of your team is doing okay already.
That would make LB ranger way too powerful, completly over the top.
I’d say you can see the clear difference between good and bad power necro or ranger pretty easily, as it’s far more obvious in certain situations, but idk.
I find it quite funny that you present us your qualifications and hope that we, intimidated peasants and ANet, find the truth in words recycled every day on forums.
I get your complainment, I agree with some parts. But at least check previous page and count same threads before posting.
Because “I’m qualified, hardcore so you better listen” reminds me of.. https://youtu.be/Qbnv6eHKjCQ
In vanilla? Loot tables.
Weakening shroud for blast. Blast finisher on deathshroud entry would be amazing.
I’d say on exit. Just in case you want to get something out of water field.
I believe Charr can stand upright, no problem, but they just prefer current posture.
I say, be it ANet’s way. They’ve chosen to be original and it works.
Just not with armor. But that’s more of a case they can’t understand that Charrs need their own, unique version of every armorset and they have to hire bonus people, just for it.
While Human and even Asura armor models can stay the same, Charr versions simply can’t and have to use different model, but themed similarily.
Charr: Latin, Greek, or Mongolian names all seem to appear, as well as names that are basically English words.
Khan Biggus kittenus.
We showed the enemy nameplates as “overgrown” for the duration of the first episode two-week window, and then switched them to “Mordrem” when the second episode went live once Mordremoth’s name was established in the story. This was to prevent spoiler nameplates in the open world before episode 2 hit the servers.
Makes sense, but still, why change it at all? The Icebrood aren’t called Jorms, the Branded aren’t Kralkos, the Destroyers aren’t Primos and so on. They all have names that sound like the come from someone observing what they look like or what they do, which makes sense in my opinion. Now of course you could say, the pact knew they came from Mordremoth, so they called them Mordrem to describe that relation, still I think Overgrown or even Blighted would have been a better fit with the existing naming patterns. Just my two cents.
I’m thinking… If we have Steve…. Would the Leviathan’s name be Steve Junior?
On a more serious note, if there is one turret engi camping: avoid that node.
If there are 2: gg. (well maybe burst them with shatter/teef, but even taht might not work…)what if there is 4 + spirit ranger (spirits affect turrets wth D8)
There will be not. Nobody plays Spirit Ranger anymore.
If you spot one, just kill the Sun Spirit. GG.
Of all AIs in the game, Turrets are the only ones classified as objects. Very tough, healthy objects. Necro Minions, Phantasms, Pets, rune spawn pets, spirits – they all can take critical damage, proc crit effects, take condition damage and have travel time/spawn time. They’re all cursed by pathfinding.
Turrets have none of these issues. They just lack mobility.
If Turrets would get the same treatment like other AIs, taking crits and suffering from condition damage, there would be no problem. In fact, they could bring Epidemic Necros back for a short time

Traps, like many utilities and traits, suffer from ANet balancing philosophy “the best possible”.
They balance them for ideal scenarios, where you go for all trap traits, utitilites. The outcome of this philosophy is that if you don’t get all the traits, cdrs and don’t build just for that one type of utility, investing heavily and locking into particular utilities… they’re absolute bullkitten and crap.
Untraited traps are good for unreliable combo fields or detecting stealth. That’s it.
Generally speaking, Condi Trapper could work in tpvp. In theory. It’s area pressure.
But because our meta is very balanced, Shoutbow Warrior, D/D ele, Engineer can do the same thing with less investment, thought while maintaing better survivability, teamwork potential, mobility, support. Tpvp Trapper excells only in one area, where that cele trio is good at almost everything. Also, pure trapper is easy to counter.
WvW – Trapper is really roaming-only. It’s okay against most melee build and good roamer when played properly with Trapper runes. That being said, it takes practice to use rune properly. Again, excells against most melee. But WvW roaming meta, if it even does exist (not on T1 eu), is extremaly boring, tedious and annoying to fight. You can try it, especially if you’re on T2-3 but flood of high sustain condi builds like Mesmers or Thieves/Engineers will likely make you throw up after half an hour.
Yeah, I have a tendency to run just one build at time and swap not more than one utility in WvW, as I’m not used to it, playing mostly PvP
. So I like to have something for every situation.
That’s good if you adjust your build however, I’d be just too lazy and judge from my perspective.
Yes, well, adolescent males make up a big part of the videogame market. So there it is. GW2 is comparatively good.
Maybe someone will create a game where you have to be a 40yrs+ female to possess an account?
They would joke about sex even more. Trust me.
And for the OP. MMOs are the Internet. If you find Internet that offensive and you can’t just accept it, I have bad news for you – you won’t change it, it’s open community with no selection besides couple euros. Either you learn how to live with it and overcome, or you leave.
There’s nothing ArenaNet can do with it, really, so you might as well don’t post it.
I’d say that this Ranger uses Trapper runes much better than ones who already posted their videos with this rune.
Still not great or full potential, but he tries not to waste cooldowns and occassionaly uses Trapper’s Expertise very correctly, kiting into traps and capitalizing on fields with projectiles.
No stunbreaks though, believe it could be painful against good mesmer (because traps are placed too close, phantasm triggers). Works as a “surprise” build for some leftovers though.
We would get another oversized greatsword, probably held by some anime character.
Because most are.
And our Bows are designed in such way that the difference between good and bad ranger isn’t super visible untill you get in Ranger’s melee range. Outcome of powerful auto attacks and rather easy rotations, less LB, more SB.
The best indicator of how good the ranger is – melee range and melee weapons+utility rotations.
Ban these cancer threads.
It’s certainly a good change.
It isn’t any game changer, however, at least not for me. Current meta specs are not as heavy-cc packed, except of engineer maybe (which is mostly favorable matchup for Necro anyway). The annoying CC is rather immobilize, not raw stuns like in the days of hambow (that change would be the game changer back then).
It doesn’t really solve our issues in PvP, though I have to say, it’s a very good option.
The main issue is, however, that it’s your bonus stunbreak and that’s cool, but you’ll most likely remain with same utilities. I mean, Wurm, SA/SW, CB. Especially for Condi Necro, what else would you get? Honestly speaking. I believe it could be more of WvWvW trait.
I pack Spectral Armor or Spectral Walk because of their utility, not really stunbreak. Stunbreak was an addition.
These utilities are just too vital. Replacements?:
1. Spectral Wall – looks like a good alternative. It’s kind of one-trick pony against competent opponents however, could give you couple seconds for breath and not much besides that.
2. Corrosive Poison Cloud – I would really love to use it. Really, really. But even if it’s pretty cool already, it still lacks. But I have to admit that it’s doing better vs. cele meta on point and can stop some pressure and give the upper hand. But it lacks in 1v1, 2v2 setting Necro’s place is at and same like with Epidemic, is one of “teamfight” utilities. But we still perish in no time under gaze of more than 1 player.
3. Epidemic. My favourite skill in the entire game. But no, remains on the backseat. You still don’t get that much value of it in this meta. And even if you do, it’s extremaly situational and, with short weakness durations, doesn’t bring much self-defense.
4. Signet of Locust. It’d be okay. But if dear ArenaNet…
…fixed the kitten signets in death shroud.
5. Well of Corruption – it’s kind of okay, even for carrion condi I believe. But I don’t really like wells, they’re one-trick pony and have heavy cooldown. Not many crits either.
6. Well of Power – that’s not a bad thing. But it’s already been okay alternative for mandatory spectral.
7. Well of Darkness – small radius, poor man’s Black Powder with again, long cooldown. Better off with Spectral Wall.
8. Signet of Spite – that’s some option. But for 1v1 and not much more. And requires yet another CC to land it successfully because current meta builds have days of evades/blocks/cleanses/dodges.
9. ???

The good guys, the bad guys…
Why would they be the “good guys”? Any profit from it?
Wish people would stop splitting things into “obvious evil” and “obvious good”. It flattens every story.
My river drake is named @nusaur.
I like this name.
Oh good lord, get Trapper’s Expertise already! You waste so much superspeed and stealth.
And don’t place both traps at the same time. Rotate cooldowns and you won’t need celestials, just carrion.
So you suggest the same thing GW1 Random Arenas had.
Over last months there’s been influx of both Medi Guards and Power Rangers, but it’s more visible in first case, spiking to multiple guardians in lower rated games.
Reasons?
1. Most already have at least 1 guardian. It’s been go-to universal deus ex machina for every game mode since day 1. So people are familiar with greatsword etc.
2. Medi Guard is rather straight-foward and easy to play in hotjoins and lower ratings.
3. Medi Guard does high damage naturally, even with autoattacking/retaliation.
4. It’s hard target to shut down quickly for thieves.
5. It has something for most situations.
Tl;dr – Good Medi Guard will shine, but average or bad one is still doing okay with little investment.
Necromancer loses half of it’s strenght if you don’t get VP in PvP.
Most important trait imho.
I mean you’re basically just sorting by # of wins with this point system anyways. Why not sort by mmr and let the ppl that care about points the option to sort by wins. I went out of town with my gf after grinding points for like a week and fell from rank 700ish back down to 90%. It’s kinda dumb. Looks like the cap for points is like +3 per game, how about making this scale to the amount of points on the other team? Eg; if you queue into someone with 100 points and win, you get their points – your points /2 or something?
If we don’t go for leagues, sorting by plain MMR seems like the best idea for me. Similar to WoW Arena Ladders, sorted by sheer MMR which decreases in time if you don’t play for weeks.
I would increase the range or reduce the cast/connection time of Hilt Bash. And maybe shave 2 seconds off from Counterattack if it connects successful hit.
Whirling Defense could be castable in move.
Path of Scars could cripple for 2 seconds.
Don’t bother with Elites.
Boar’s bundles are still PvE weapons, obey no competitive rules whatsoever and give you longest possible single CCs in the game.
S/F ele vs. Necro is usually a race. If you live through his big cooldowns and don’t get hit by some combo, you win because he’ll be left with almost no defenses other than pressure.
Know his focus skills. Once earth cds are gone and you manage to be alive, it’s gg.
Btw, Axe tramples S/F eles.
Good sign for esports imo.
This guy gets it.
Runes of Speed!
I’m probably the most underground Necro, still using them xD.
If not fun… Hmph…
If you’re desperate, to look at Human Females (°¤° ). lol.
Good feedback!

The Sylvari will get darker. True, mature plot.
Like in Republic of South Africa.

Nerf? Probably redesign of couple weapons’ AAs : Shortbow, Sword and maybe Longbow.
Shortbow with skills that are actually worth using and are more crucial/effective for the cost of bot auto spam.
At it’s current state, it’s not ready. .
You sir deserve a medal for awarness and in-depth analysis.
The only thing I can think of is…
You seem to have interesting cousins.
Btw, you forgot about Je..Chewbacca
.
Tbh, any buff to TU would probably break the Ranger. It’s already our best heal.
Only thing I can think of is maybe increasing the Healing Power effect on it. Very slightly or starting from certain number.
Imagine a healing skill removing two conditions, having more HPS than HSignet, giving fury and healing over time. Yeah, only Healing Turret comes close, imo…
Summary of Necro patching:
“One step foward, two steps back”
I love to pop Lich in teamfight when there’s already one downed. People focus on rezzing, you pierce and interrupt everybody. Cool pressure and probably the best use of Lich I can think of.
As for 1v1s, Lich in this situation sucks. You waste a huge cd, one player will just escape. No target switch. Gg.
A lot of complaints come from duelling on wide, big, open areas with no LoS.
Yes, Longbow Ranger is broken easy there. But once you introduce area restrictions, objectives and proper LoS it suddenly becomes 60% less effective.
They could always make it like GW1 and have it life steal in an AOE for each condition targets in that AOE are suffering from!
Something like:
Feast of Corruption
Steal 226 (0.05) life from enemies in target area. Steal an additional 56 (0.01) from each enemy for each unique condition they are suffering from. Gain 5% Life Force for each foe affected by this skill.
Number of Targets: 5
Range: 900
Cast Time: 1s
Cooldown: 15s
That is cool.
lol, that rage :P
Test Season speaks for itself though.
Could strike for a portion of total condition damage applied to target.
Like 7% of condition damage, instantly.
<— Reminds me of that :P
I occassionaly play power ranger, but now I don’t touch any bows, going full melee power. So I approve range reduction :P.
Hipsta.
Not much, really.
Lockdown Mesmers rely on those big interrupt bursts, it takes both practice and luck to get away alive. If you manage to not die in first 20 seconds, then you can apply counterpressure on them and often they end up badly.
The hard part is surviving that long, though
.
The entire idea behind the profession requires heavy ground work.
We’re niche. I’d say that the Necromancer shares most of his problems not with other professions, but with PvE Boss mechanics.
Some skills are cool and great, but we don’t live long enough to even make use of them.
That stability patch was real overkill for anything facing the Engi.
If Slick Shoes did not eat bunch of stability stacks, but had an ICD and functioned as it was, I believe, supposed to (ala escape oil trail), there would be no problem.
When will people get bored of doing this.. I have no idea if ever
