Consume Condition is also 100% pvp mandatory, you can’t swap.

It depends on who you are facing. In general ranger is the easiest class to play since they got buffed. Sorry, but it’s true.

Will the progress of the main story be released in certain time frames, developing something like big “progress chapters” (similar to WoW expansion story progression as an example) or will whole story be released right at the start of the expansion, “with the box” ?

I heard it’s a top skill build that doesn’t carry you with passive effects, unlike power ranger.

I’d much rather have different ways to accomplish stuff on a mission rather than story taking me completly somewhere else.
Leave the choice, but try to keep it in the same “episode” or instance.
For example, 1-3 points during an instance when you have to make rather simple choice like killing someone or not, then next decision etc. The outcome for you is a summary of your choices, doesn’t take enourmous work, because everything happens in the same location, every choice is important and you actually see what you did and where and how it ends.
Kind of similar like the summaries in Wolf Among US.
If we are to keep up with same “Achievement Run” after each story step, it would be nice to change your choice just a little with every try and get slighty different outcome.
It should not alternate the main plot. It stays the same.
I’d say no to expansive branching taking you to another part of the world, but yes to a small choice with quick and interesting outcome.

I don’t know… All of our hard CC is very precious and part of combos.
We won’t be able to just strip couple layers constantly like Headshot Thief, Mesmer or Warrior. It would be an astonishing dps and pressure lost.
If Stability now is even easier to get, because it will only block certain amount of CCs, then we’re in far worse state than now imho…

Just saying that Mallyx Revenant will be like a gift from heavens for someone using Epidemic.
Another thing is…. I haven’t seen any block, evade or distortion on Revenant yet. This may be a pain and reason why some skills are as powerful.

We will have to wait for the reveal of other utilities and maybe a new support Legend (I assume 2 new ones based on trait lines). But, for now, it looks like they’re extremaly vulnerable to condibomb and kiting the Mallyx form.
So they might have problems with Spamgineers and Necros.
I’m not quite sure how Embrace the Darkness (Mallyx elite) works… Does it only copy conditions stacked on you or transfers them? If it doesn’t transfer, Revenant could really heavily rely on that Resistance in some builds.
Hammer auto throw looks a little bit ridiculous. Not only it looks weird on anything other than Charr or Norn (the tru races) but it’s also a very reliable 100% chance projectile finisher when having the rate of fire comparable to our Staff with only 20%.
Looks solid and nice, has strong downstate which will be usable against stealthed since you can aim a projectile without a target.
The thing that concerns me a bit is that Jalis no cooldown on taunt as long as he manages energy right.
In fact, no stability is more like a problem for Condi Necro. And if they can, it happens usually after you just use CB, with CoP.
Necro is a slow opponent. They don’t need that many CC against us, immobilize and ports which they get are usually just enough. You don’t kite that much in PvP. Points, points. In close range their spammable scepter hits like a truck.
I’m a little bit biased, since I play mostly Power build and there’s simply no better counter than Medi guard to that.
Condition Necro has more fair matchup. But still, fighting a Medi Guard who knows how to play his build and has some general idea is a chore. Blinds are quite problematic for Necro, even on condi builds. Blind, block when Necro hops into DS. Gg, you’ve just bought yourself some hefty time unless he has LTransfer or Swarm.
Remove Condition damage from it, slightly buff healing power and toughness or critical damage.
If you fail to beat Necro as one of the best counters, you’re clearly doing something wrong.
Medi Guard has an incredible advanatge over any Necromancer. Counter for Corrupt Boon, insanely high power damage, good condition removal, blinds, blocks, heal on every utility…
If Necro is trying to “fearbomb”, assuming it means dumping everything just for one chain, you have the best counter to that in a game – contemplation of purity. Besides, Necro who dumps everything in one shot is terribly bad Necro.
Here’s a quick guide – engage with Shield of Wrath and scepter auto. It will block the passive fear and give you great opener. kittenite condition (you have to have at least one), Binding Blade, Necro ports/ tries to run away, Leap, pull back, Wave of Wrath inside the hitbox, swap weapons and pressure with Scepter. At this point Necro is either dead or use his heal, in which case it’s already GG because we do not recover under the pressure of decent medi guard.

While current sound…. is there any sound?…. might not be perfect, old was too loud and turning down effects volume wasn’t helpful in that case.
Unless you don’t run dungeons with LFG pug groups, it will be okay and nobody is gonna say you do things wrong, so don’t worry.

Watch out for Wolf swap and Point Blank Shot animation. You’ll really need to dodge those.
Save Spectral Armors for Rapid Fire in situations when you run out of dodges. First is your action bar ability, second activates at 50% hp.
At start, I like to activate Locust Swarm, although you probably save it for their GS/Sword. Dark Path pet or Ranger, Shackles, pre-cast Enfeeble to hit Ranger in the location they end up after L. Reflex out of shackle immob. If they Reflex before you use Dark Pact, you have clear window for it. Always run around and strike immobilized targets in the back.
Decent power ranger will beat godlike Power Necro 1v1 on open map with no points. That simple.
Since I don’t rely on Shroud damage that much with my power build, I’ll take it when I know there’s ton of hambows or turret engineers.
That would be it.
Just seems to me that people who are into mangas/anime or are fascinated with Final Fantasy like stuff like Shiro because he fits in their world. Shiro is cliche, but out of whole Factions I loved Kaineng City the most, so you can say I’m unusual

Good god… Just reading some of this it already cries out for a nerf. Either they roll out something for necro specialization to deal with all of this or they just doomed the necro class altogther with this hard counter.
Also wondering if I AOE 5 of them with conditions and they all pop legendary and resistance, would I then get all stacks x5 on me? This would instantly break any sort of zerging or bombing. Instantly.
In the next revenant information update they’ll reveal that they come with capes too.
I don’t feel Mallyx stance will get that new boon. It would collide with mentioned “risk/reward” and amount of conditions you can withstand for maximum perfomance. Being logical, ofc…
On the other hand, I feel like Mallyx stance users may really swear at all those shout guards and wars, coupled with eles and engis, for cleansing their conditions. Heck, even we could troll with it. Especially underwater.
Unless they get “cleansing immunity” for the duration of stance, surely.

1. Does the taunted target run into melee range when they have ranged weapon equipped, or just into the range of shot?

I’m betting Resistance will convert to Burning, Fear, or 3 stacks of Torment. Fear is the least likely of the three, but since the stronger boons tend to corrupt into the stronger conditions, I think it will be one of these three.
If it converts to Vulnerability, that’s kind of a kick in the teeth to Necros.
Probably Torment. Torment doesn’t have any really unique boon adequate.

Unless they’ve packed some Hiroshima-sized bomb into Necromancer, I fear I can switch my main. Will only regret losing Epidemic.

PvPers are the most loyal communities.
Counter Strike 1.6, Age of Empires 2, heck, even Quake or EnemyT. , spaces in between MMO expansions, any CoD, popularity of MOBAs (despite only couple new skins or characters introduced from time to time).
Human competes with Human, it’s always been exciting. Human vs. script, alghoritm, something fixed and predictable – may be excitement, but for a limited period of time. It always gets stale and boring, eventually.
Here, the evidence.
Okay, I have a question regarding Stronghold.
We have two versions of supply summon NPC:
1. The Archer
2. And The Other Rat Bomb Guy
Now, the purpose of 1 is clear and stays like that for the entire game. It runs foward and does damage to NPCs.
The purpose of 2 has an unexplained (I believe, yet!) hole in itself: it runs and bombs the gates.
But…. what if there are no more gates?
It doesn’t attack NPCs (I think), it doesn’t attack Players and upon reaching the Lord what does it do? Dissapears? So now we have only 1 viable option for summoned supply NPC?
I suggest that upon breaking the last gate, Rats could change into new option (and alive Rats just… shifting into those) so we stay with two options for the entire game.
I suggest that if you break foe’s final gate Bomber is replaced by some kind of hire-able support unit for your Lord, for example giving protection, regeneration and healing the lord and every friendly guard NPC inside for 5% in some time intervals.
That could possibly make spending and running resources viable strategy for the entire time and give more choice.
I don’t think that either PvE or WvW will be ever “balanced” in this game. No roles, almost no unique bonuses, specific tactics that just work better than others, one-two gearsets and nerd-toxic parts of dungeon community. Too many variables. You introduce one new food, bam, kitten hits the fan and suddenly you broke the game.
That’s why competitive PvP has certain areas standarized and that’s why PvP balance should be the priority.
Don’t underestimate PvP community. PvPers are probably the most loyal and consistent community part of games. May not be the biggest in this game, but who knows, IF GvG ladders come live with Stronghold, it may change quite significantly.
They could also separate all 3 modes. But I think they just don’t have enough manpower for such things to be done right.
Btw, I’ve been always wondering. Why post it here, in PvP section? Unless you just want to light up the village, better post it on General Forum.
Or even better, attach a pic of quaggan or asura and post it on reddit. You will be glorified and get many upvotes!

I don’t mind getting only 1 map at release.
They surely have more in stock, but also want to see how things will turn out. And then modify them, based on the feedback.
Just hope that they won’t wait a year with releasing new maps.
Hambow? I mean, it’s slow and there are no points. The only place for it would be mid, but the area is bigger than regular point. And it’s quite possible that there will be guards.
Anyway, I see cele meta doing pretty okay. Untill we see the profession changes, ofc.
OP, don’t forget that the exp pack may as well bring up completly new metas…
You could experiment with a mix of Spectral traits (Curses master major, SR adept major CDR), PoC (XIII Curses) and going for something like 2/6/0/0/6. If you want to build it for Power, of course, because there’s always Condi variation Terrormancer, possibly most common tpvp necro build.
Power Necro is an excellent 1v1-er and supporting roamer for any fight with no medi guards or hambows focusing him.
Yes, it requires a little bit of team cooperation and you can’t push it into unfavorable fights. But once it joins the even fight, it can eliminate all non-armor bunkers (armor-bunkers are Surv Barkskin Ranger, Guard, Turret Engi or Warrior) in no time.
^A lot depends on your variation of Power build, but just for my case, Mesmers with reduced field for kiting are probably the easiest matchup (with slight exception for CI Mesmers).
