I dont see a single reason for a class to be able to spam blind, especialy when he can spam stealth distortion aegis block interrupts and teleports.
i understand thief that must blind to be able to attack or he get rekt, but mesmer why should be able to spam blind? what is the reason, he has not already enough game mechanics? he has not enough counters interrupts? why…You understand thief need to use blind yet don’t understand mesmer doing the same thing? Thieves also have access to: blind, stealth spam, evade spam (similar to distortion), interrupts and teleports…
Thief doesn’t have evade spam,thief doesn’t that good of AoE blind,thief has lower HP,thief doesn’t stack most of those in one spec, stealthing on thief won’t allow him to attack and remain in stealth,thief doesn’t have mesmer range burst, thief doesn’t have the level of CC+damage as mesmer etc. Just saying…
Evade spam – S/D thief*
Pseudo AoE Blind – Pistol 5, (D/P 3 is excellent single target blind though).
Lower hp – slightly higher base armour, negligible though as both get blown up if sneezed on.
Stealth and attack – Allowed continued backstab if it gets evaded/blocked/blinded as it doesn’t reveal the thief.
Low range – agreed
CC – Panic Strike, Pistol 4 daze, Steal, Stolen skills, Basilisk Venom.
Damage – Very comparable, there have been screenshots of people doing 9-10k backstabs recently.*With the exception of evade spam, all the others can be achieved within the same D/P build. Shortbow 3 can act as an evade spam though.
Not comparable to thief really mesmer will do it in AoE format and s/d “evade spam” is way easier to deal with more telegraphed as well just like SB and doesn’t do as much damage. You can’t compare Panick Strike thief to lockdown mesmer it’s slower,single target burst,Head Shot has low damage and can’t be casted during other skills,uses vamp runes mesmer just go more with more burst,SA got toned down etc,doesn’t use clones,is more utility focus,stealth can get interrupted,backstab is melee.

ele is fine, burn damage isn’t.
Yes burn damage needs to be toned down on all classes not Ele alone.
Not sure why on guard who deserves the highest, cele ele breaks the condition damage effiency too easy the threshold needs to be raised,condi war and engi are fine and necro has Wetfire.

I haven’t seen FT in a while camping it instead of applying multiple conditions which engi does well is dumb same for goes for necro camping Wetfire.

The low mobility of necro should guarantee he is the best in combat but we carry some wannabe design in skill,weapons and traits the excuse was always necro is part of GWEN most forgot they gutted mesmer so we could get a spot. Don’t quote me on that but I blame it on DS.
I’m sure we are never getting stealth same reason we are not getting fire fields and not stupid blast finishers and after what Robert did to PU or whoever did it I’m not supporting stealth on necro some nasty nerf will happen because we have to facetank. Necro should have taunt and more pulls even as mostly range class we are so slow.
Another thing you can’t really balance WvW necro especially since it’s possible to have full LF before every fight yes I’m blaming DS again. Sticking to a small squad has always been more effective.

Scepter and dagger are our only good weapons. The rest are so freaking weak.
I wouldn’t count scepter as a good weapom it’s just there to me the only good ones are traited WH and somewhat MH dagger because it could be better staff is just there.

Wouldn’t Celestial be pretty good with this? Gives you some more power to go on too.
Cele necro has better results than other necro specs for me now probably because it doesn’t take all the not so good parts of the other specs. I would recommend it over any other necro spec.

Over the past month we got many of threads from conditionmancers “I can’t take path of corruption, terror & lingering curse,” anymore. That nobody ever suggests to replace the 2 boon conversion of path of corruption with the one AoE corruption of Spiteful Spirit is very telling.
We have people on this forum complaining that getting ranged wells baseline is a nerf, this community is really bad at generating reasonable complaints.
There is an exception to everything but a lot of complaints are too obvious that next patch better be good.

I’m running my own cele version I don’t trust Wetfire and I’m not letting go of Spite nice seeing cele builds on necro.

When the reaper hits and we have no Death Shroud and no ranged power weapon better than scepter, the class is going to be a complete sitting duck to everybody with a ranged weapon and speed boost.
Maybe axe being awful isn’t so bad now, with life blast on every necromancer, but reapers are really going to miss not having a viable skirmishing weapon.
They will just settle down for staff.

I feel axe is starting to lean more to the side of boonstrip/corruption. But as others have said we currently have no ranged power weapon other than DS. So, here are a couple ideas.
Increase axe range to 900 except for the third skill.
Axe skill 1, does the same damage it does now, only it applies vulberability 2 only if you rip a boon from the enemy.
Axe 2, steals 1 boon per strike and gives it to you. Each boon taken gives you life force. Say….4%? 2% per strike if no boons?
Axe skill 3 is fine I think as it is, jut wish it gave a biting lifebforce, but eh, aoe corruption works as well.
It’s more like they don’t know what to do with it to me it look like a MH bad copy of staff utility wise.

Staff doesnt really have a purpose. Its a bad weapon. I suppose the only real purpose is the 1200 range and the two handed weapon power for DS.
Maybe but staff is still our most used weapon set in pvp.

A build should not rely almost exclusively on it’s elite to remain viable. If a nerf to rampage shifts warrior into trash tier the class should be re examined.

Why not tone down stealth it self? Not sure why PU ended this way the focus on defensive boons and little stealth boost was better. I don’t see the stealth from ranger you are talking about, I would say leave the amulets and go to stealth thief SA got toned down as well.
I was thinking of the rangers in WvW running runes of the trapper. And I agree with you: PU now gives a bit too much stealth. Maybe 50% would be more balanced. But that’s not a problem with stealth itself.
Why do people keep talking about stealth and thieves. Thieves are the second worst/weakest profession in the game right now, just ahead of rangers.
Stealth has plenty of counterplay if you know how to play the game correctly. A thieves stealth lasts 3 seconds and he has a 4 second revealed debuff. His only longer stealth is on a minute long cooldown. Once he is out of stealth, he can be taken from 100-0 in a couple of moves. It is so easy to avoid being backstabbed for 3 seconds, it amazes me that people still struggle with this.
I’m not advocating thief nerfs I main thief I just stated that SA got toned down it seems they fixed the bug with SE and SRej but CiS is still not worth taking but I am advocating 3 sec reveal in PvP it needs to come back. Trapper Runes would open diversity in PvP I don’t see the issue with them in WvW, with mesmer it’s just that the expansion of trait lines were more beneficial to them.

Stealth has enough counterplay as it is: if you recall, pre-patch, in tpvp, only one meta build was using stealth. The other stealth professions (mesmer and ranger) were not considered very viable. The problem we face now is the burst. Reduce the stats from the amulets and you won’t have trouble against stealth builds anymore.

It’s too close to give up we made it this far after all. They are trying to make DS less restrictive but they are so slow and afraid for some reason. My greatest issues right now is stab convert,Wetfire,Parasitic Contagion,Spiteful Spirit etc quite a few actually but I don’t know if it feels like we are getting closer.
I didn’t mention MoC/corruptions because those deserves a CDI not a simple response just like the axe baits.

I’m still trying to recreate a proper PvP condition thief build the WvW/PvP differences gets so annoying that I spent most of thief in WvW. Torment on interrupt seems it woul fit a (WvW) trapper p/p spec I don’t find it worth giving up over BT, you can try condition thief but I haven’t found the hidden PvP spark yet.

You kind of have no choice when mesmers doing 20k out of stealth. Thieves too. Stealth spikes mean bunkers are sometimes the only choice
Thief is doesn’t hit for that much. I find it easier to deal with them as well post patch but like someone mentioned conquest does promote bunker play I hope they don’t forget to finally add a TDM queue I couldn’t care less about SH.

You said solo roaming the game is not balanced for solo encounters even though they happen most of the time but yes I did notice the same thing.

The main reason why Anet is afraid to increase the duration of burning on this skill the way it’s working right now is because of the upcoming Reaper. AoE burning for more than 3 seconds each cleave is probably too strong, at least on paper.
Considering that Anet has introduced a new type of ICD, in my opinion the best way to improve dhuumfire for life blast is to utilize this.
So my suggestion:Shroud #1 applies burning for 5 seconds. Cannot occur more than 5 times every 5 seconds.
This still means that life blast, normally, applies burning on every hit for a much longer duration and still allows a single swing of reaper’s shroud #1 to burn everybody caught in the cleave but with a small recharge to ensure it doesn’t get too overpowered. Same thing would apply to a piercing life blast.

Reaper should have no significant balance effect on necro it should be the other way around. If it’s too strong on reaper reaper slow the attack down and increase it’s power damage.

I’m only based that statement due to my surroundings. I haven’t been playing my mesmer much post patch due to the other alts two things that stands out were PU I actually miss the old one it’s now about stealth uptime and RNG boons rather than defensive boons and little stealth boost dumb another thing was that mesmer actually got more “stacked specs” than other classes especially lockdown.
Maybe I just need time but to me engi and mesmer were the first one that stranded out post patch even in WvW.

Pre patch I was actually doing fine vs mesmer, the current dilemma is that they take a lot of what they previously weren’t able to more than other specs actually. The mesmer community is…mesmerizing some are advocating adjustment others are calling advocates traitors I have a mesmer but I have spec issues on my other alts. I would say stick to a squad necro is the least suited for roaming anyway, them along with nade engi were the first “anomalies” I noticed post patch and I main thief…

Utility is it’s purpose, between DS and your other set it can fit nicely. My last days on condition necro pre patch were without staff but now it’s kind of like SB on thief.

They are tricking us into slotting axe…bad move no ICD woul make it decent maybe not GM worthy but definitely decent, it’s current state along with Wetfire is not leaving me much options to explore. They could make it activate on exit as well.

With the new guild hall thing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they removed TDM entirely. So many people just AFK and waste everyone’s time in the map anyway.

I vote make it a master tier. Move Spectral attunement/master up to gm. Make spectral attunement/master give added effects, reflect on wall, retal on grasp, stab on armor, movement impairing condition removal on walk. I also think master of terror should swap with the adept trait that gives 25% move speed in shroud then the 25% move speed trait should get changed to give permaswiftness.
That’s more about spectral skills then dhuumfire and despite possible new combinations I heavily doubt it fixes the incompatibility with condition necro.
Honestly, I don’t see dhummfire as build defining so I don’t think it should be GM. It does potentially make you change how you play because it forces you to use life blast more. Life blast spam is the last thing terromancer should be encouraging considering it is/was our most skillful build.
For that reason, I recommended a new trait that solves some of the other issues that necros currently have (bad stun breaks, no stab, no reflect). With the changes I listed the only problem would be whether to pick master of terror or soul marks (easy win for soul marks imo).
It’s no a game changer but it still deserves to not drag down condition necro since they are factored together. For necro core issues well they don’t see the class like we do so I always expect a twist.

Use Some Corruptions, then Plague Signet.
It’s meh I only see people use it for CC and Plague stomping lol. In PvE sure anything works in PvE even if they fixed stab conversion and fear transferring there is no way I’m choosing MoC over the other in a condition spec. It’s intended for non condition spec in PvP that’s a fact, corruptions only corrupt you ironically.

Don’t forget, that could also be the Rev’s elite specialization involving a melee spear. I believe anet planned to give all professions an elite spec. It would seem unfair if every profession had an elite spec except for rev.
Wut? I don’t even…revenant already has a melee staff and they said no new weapon types are coming how does a melee spear make sense? I’m still rooting for thief rifle since we don’t know what’s going on with the rest of the elite spec or even the previous ones.
