So the inevitable Taunt nerf has come, and rather quickly.
They even add internal CD on traits I never really bother to pick anyway lol…
Oh LotF would never be picked by any none SB spec ever, and SB is still a crap weapon.
(10% increased duration for 4 secs on dodge lol , while other classes get 30%~100% constant condition duraiton)Necro has +150% on Scepter and it’s still unplayable ;-(

Did you notice Tripwire has a knockdown of 3 seconds while Spiketrap is only 1 second? Despite that Spiketrap recharges 1.5 times slower.
Essentially the thief trap works better without having to invest any trait into it.

Problem with Necros is they have not enough aces to stability and stunbreaks making it easy to lock down

But necro have 4 stun-break utilities … they also get stab from 2/3 of their elites, both which aren’t all that bad…
Are you trying to argue necro is not easy to lock and beat down? Stun breaks and stab don’t make you hard to pin down compare guard to war obviously war is easier to lockdown because he facetanks more compare guard to mesmer obviously guard is easier to lockdown because mesmer has more active defenses.

@lordhelmos You somewhat get it but it’s not as bad as you say. I’m not going back to CB,SoS and S. Armor or Walk CD’s plays a major part of your competitiveness considering the low pressure from weapons and DS I only use SoL and Plague Signet and use Blood Magic for extra bleeds and low CD signet it’s actually better than going in Spite and probably Death Magic. Running Geomancy with Leeching sigils guarantees a sustainable offense while taking advantage of the weakness and boon/condi manipulation.
Condition necro is not dead not ideal but definitely not dead once the Spiteful Renewal and Blood Bond bugs are fixed with the bunch of other ones in the game I’m confident other necros will just work around and stop thinking condition burst like other classes. Spite,Curses and Blood Magic are the perfect combination even for celestial which doesn’t carry the weakness of other necro specs and does quite well. To be honest diamond skin ele’s(annoying but once the team notices they drop) and mesmer are the reasons I’m playing cele instead of condition on necro currently.

I dunno man,
One of my main PvP chars is a P/D Thief, and I actually feel like we do more damage now. They made the lethal arts tree add so much poison damage that my poison is actually like a second bleed now…..with a little bit of torment thrown in for fun.
I will agree that some of our trait lines are kinda bleh….and I will also agree, we do have a decent dead timer, meaning once we blow our rotation….we dont have much left but sb spam.
But for the last 2 weeks ive consistantly been top player on spvp, and still am a brutal roamer in WvW.
The biggest difference I see is that I actually think we are EVEN STRONGER 1v1…..and we are now a little weaker 1v2+
My suggestion….run the move speed signet. At the start of this build I was also having some trouble surviving. That 25% move speed somehow fixed it. Just being able to get that extra 1/3 distance while stealthed was the diff between being caught out of stealth in leap distance, and being home free for my rotation to come back up :P.
May I know what is your spec with this so much poison damage?

It was also strongly hinted, that all the specializations were shown in the trailer.
We never saw warriors in the trailer. And to this day we cannot be sure what they getting – seems to be a torch but the desing doesnt fit warrior nor berserk style.

I only use Flesh Golem for the LF on death if SoU becomes an elite it would help with LF gain on condition specs assuming it’s buffed a bit. This is really a great idea and heavily needs to be considered the signet is not seeing use right now anyway.

The only issue I could agree with mesmer was that only 1 spec was meta material since beta but was countered by zerker thief but with zerker countered other zerkers in 1v1 that is. This is the first time I hear that mesmers were a free kill.
Mesmer’s remind me of that spoiled middle child that has to make everything about them and are always complaining that they have it so hard because they didn’t get the cellphone they wanted for their 12th birthday.
We are more of the red headed step children that didn’t get anything until our parents realized that we were almsot dead and should prolly be fed before CPS gets called for neglect.

I agree. I was looking forward to experimenting with a more condi-oriented build for D/D with the condi changes, but alas it’s a bit underwhelming. I think most of it is due to the loss of condition duration. I think it’s arguable that Bleed and Poison should both be buffed a bit at baseline. If not, the traits you mentioned should be improved a bit.
That said, don’t forget that condi thieves can lean on utilities a lot as well to help supplement their total damage output.
The DPS increase for Potent Poison should definitely be higher than 10%. 20% or 25% seems more appropriate.
I only build damage in utilities currently only because of Trapper Runes I used to before in PvP but in the long run I relied on p/d and steal for damage similar to a power thief. SR and Shadowstep are locked if I’m not running s/d third is usually an utility like scorpion wire,BP etc. The same way I never used SB as a secondary set on condi due to the swap sigils being too good.
I never understood why all venoms have same CD but Leeching Venoms is gated to 1 strike,why a rune made me remember thief had traps etc. It’s all on them to make the spec more attractive,diverse and maybe competitive.

Potent poison is ok but not worth dropping Improv for.
It should work like this:-Increased poison duration. Increased condition damage.
-Damage Increase: All damaging conditions +10% while poison is active from Thief.
-Duration Increase: Poison length +33%, +10% duration to non-damaging conditions while poison is active from Thief.That may be OP if it affects others condition damage. Having it affect only your personal condition damage would still be good. Alternatively, instead of a flat 10%, it could be 1% per stack of poison.
I’m think they are pushing the poison stacking with the line I doubt something like that would be in DA. It’s just that poison is so low and no one will slot spider venom and needle trap for temporary poison. As long as MH dagger can be a poison stacking weapon it has potential push the weapons the utilities won’t cut it.
Let’s say that we should be like guardian with burn not asking for 4k poison but it needs good numbers since we only maintain bleed and a bit of torment confusion is not frequent.

Trapper runes are fun and they are what make my P/P condi build work . It could not work without them. I had thought of going Condi with d/p for torment and p/d fpr bleeds and realized I could get both off p/p.
Pressure strike is not all that bad. I have had battles where I completely locked down an enemy in WvW with Pressure strikes even as I was loading on torments. getting that timing down does take skill and is rewarding when you pull it off.
Meh p/p is will lack the stealth uptime,reflects will counter hard etc but it’s possible-ish but that’s WvW. I’m aiming d/p for poison and torment and the possibility of a melee condition set if Dagger Training is improved that is. I am waiting on the next patch to balance things out and we will see if it can perform well in PvP.

I only ever slotted traps due to the runes giving stealth on trap use it should have been a trait. Thief doesn’t build in damage in utilities anyway it was always defense/utility damage came from steal and weapons due to initiative. That’s why signets and deceptions see more gameplay than the rest.
Once the Trapper Runes came out I was sure that I will never use a trap in PvP for once unfortunately it was WvW>PvP.

I have not found the loss of condition duration being a problem I only ever went full DA on power thief condition thief usually only takes Mug and Serpent’s Touch venoms are balanced around sharing I ditched those a long time ago the CD is annoying as well. The hit to SA is not that bad but CiS and Shadow Protector should be merged the fall trait should be not be mixed with anything.
Whoever made the new condition traits has good ideas they are just not rewarding enough and push a more aggressive style. I actually feel like going p/d and d/p if those traits are worth it I haven’t equipped a SB on condi thief since +2 years I might now if poison is worth it. That’s all they have to do make it worthy for a proper condition thief.
With a 10 sec ICD there is no need for Improvisation to affect it but yes the bonus of Deadly Trapper should apply again just put a lesser version if necessary. I do like the directions though they should think of bringing Trapper runes in PvP.

Dagger attacks have a chance to poison enemies.
Chance on Hit: 33%
Poison (2s): 168 damage, -33% Healing Effectiveness
The hit chance should be increase to 50% and base duration to 3 sec, using dagger MH dagger is not rewarding when building in condition damage especially since the overall damage output of poison is weak.
Potent Poison
Increased poison duration. Poison deals increased damage.
Damage Increase: 10%
Duration Increase: 33%
The dps increase is not encouraging changing your build for poison stacking it’s just the only direct condition GM, increase the damage to 20%
Pressure Striking
Enemies you interrupt are inflicted with torment.
Torment (5s): 239 damage
It’s just minimal dps increase,doesn’t feel rewarding and worth building CC for and it’s competing with Bountiful Theft and Trickster,increase to 4 stacks increase to 6 secs
Trappers Respite
Drop a needle trap when you use a healing skill.
The CD of the trait is impairing synergy with anything but untraited HiS and Skelk Venom with Trapper Runes, reduce CD to original 10 sec create a “lesser version” if necessary just like Caltrops has Uncatchable.
P.S: All conditions builds that don’t have great access to burning feels significantly weak compared to others and burst damage necro just transfers,weakens and corrupts.The new traits are good idea but they need to be rewarding enough.

Burning wise you could argue it affected guard poison somewhat the same it was still restricted damage even if it carries debuffs. As a thief I don’t feel like poison stacking is worth investing in it.

Play with corrupt,transfer and consumption don’t try to stack conditions especially with Wetfire. Here’s my set up for condition necro until they make Wetfire worthy. My cele necro build is more effective but this works as well.

I’ve always viewed transforms as lazy design. Easier for devs to make since they don’t have to be balanced with innumerable skills/traits… because none of those things work with the transform.
It’s not an accident that players typically avoid using them; we don’t like being locked out of our characters’ abilities. The only ones that see common use are Necro DS & Elite skills… because there are no worthwhile alternatives.
That said, the transforms are typically OP in some aspect (Lich damage, Plague survival, etc.) and allowing utility use would require serious rebalancing.
Shroud is fine because you aren’t locked in it for a set duration. You can revert to your normal skills whenever you want. IMO it feels fine because of that and you don’t exactly see necromancers avoiding using it.
Nah not being to able to use or see utilities in DS,having traited traits not working while it’s active and DS being the class mechanic and excuse has always held us back. We can’t avoid using DS we will drop fast without it if anything DS should be able to use/see utilities before transforms. I do believe it’s a bad idea for transforms it will worsen balance.

Because class imbalances are much more apparent in death match where you cannot choose your fights or choose to leave some fights.
Rampage is already ultrastrong, imagine what it does when the whole gamemode is just about 5v5 zerg in the middle of the map. Same for basically all other aoe burst builds.
Bunkers are basically useless in deathmath too.
Not at all most of the experience some have in courtyard is due to the lack of meta and experience similar to what happened when the latest patch came. Many believe it was zerker and condi everything until they saw bunker necro,guards,ele etc.

Am I the only one who thinks this nerf was OK?
Thieves that spec into SA now get Shadow Rejuvenation too. We have to add, on top of that, movement (leap) skills are not affected by impairment effects, so this conditions have lost, at some extent, their effect.
You know get surely removed damaging conditions too. Which, oh well, kills you in the end. You can still either spam HS or IA to get away (because you get the 1 second bonus of stealth too).
It’s still a fairly good condition removal for the class, at least better than Sword#2 return and more “cheap” than using Shadowstep return to cleanse. I don’t know where this complains are coming from.
But after all, this is just my opinion and I might be biased because I don’t like Thief stealth playstyle. I’ve been always more kind using S/D playstyle, or even S/P or D/D burst playstyle.
This said… I think D/P got buffed a lot more rather than nerfed (without comparing with other classes buffs after the patch).
It’s okay with SE I just don’t understand CiS in GM spot they could merge it with Shadow Protecor and then put fall damage part in master spot.

I agree however.. You gotta remember how brutally hard Life Blast can hit. Making it pierce as baseline would be a pretty significant buff and we all know how ANet buffs a Necromancer. Change something then nerf it in to oblivion two days later.

Then possibly allow Dhuumfire to proc on all enemies that are hit with Life Blast, maybe reduce burning duration to 2 seconds if it is far too strong, and place a light ICD, 1/2 to 1 second, on Reaper’s Might to prevent multiple stacks of might being generated instead of 1 stack,.

Yeah it would be nice if we could even corrupt stab right now…. I can already taste the tears when they fix that….. but now I really think they just wont….. yeah no stab counterplay for necros….
Why has this not been hot fixed? Wtf anet, I’m tired of the bias, this has been a Necro staple since release and now one of our imp abilities does not corrupt stability? If this is a bug, fix it. If this is intended, then once again you are demonstrating a clear bias towards your favorite class.
