Sig of Locust changed to instant cast + stunbreaker + 25sec CD.
Stability on Necrotic Traversal and Spectral Walk.
Well of Blood buffs.
Bloodbag buffs.
you just proved exactly why this change is a bad idea, you think its ok to kick me for the way i want to play, its not, your wrong, no debate on that, and anet will aggree
Nope.
So long as another person in the party agrees with me, I am allowed to kick you.
I’m allowed to kick you if you’re not doing anything and are spending all your time talking trash in partychat.
I’m allowed to kick you if I don’t like the color of your eyes. I don’t do this because I try not to be a knobhead, but if someone agrees with me, that kick can go through.
You talk about ‘rights’ but these aren’t things that are established in the game. There is no such thing as a ‘right’. There are game mechanics, and that’s it.
(edited by Sarrs.4831)
they made a choice to start the party, it is theirs regardless of how little effort it took to make it….its an issue of autonomy..and i didnt even think of swamp stealing WOW thats a whole extra problem to lump onto this thanks!
They made a choice to start the party. That doesn’t give them inalienable rights to do as they please without the threat of being kicked.
your post is irrelivent as the suggested solution on the OP addresses the difference this thread is trying to make between a leaving owner and a kicked owner
Why should a dungeon not persist if the owner is kicked? There’s no fundamental difference between the dungeon owner and any other guy, except in a few particular cases.
Swamp stealing? Yeah sure that sucks. Is it really that hard though? Is it worth creating a labyrinthine system that tries to make a distinction between kicked and leaving dungeon owners?
So basically, you don’t want to be held accountable for your sub-par skill in a group that may or may not be the cause of it wiping, but you’re perfectly okay kicking people who are “Meany heads” to you when they call you on your inability to play your roll properly to the group’s composition.
Sounds to me that if people like you are in the majority, this change to the dungeons is a very needed one on that level alone, to say nothing about the sheer number of technical hiccups this is finally going to fix.
Just because you started the party doesn’t mean you’re suddenly not required to live up to the standards people expect when running a dungeon, or are some how immune to being kicked because you want to play sub-optimally in a pick up group setting.
If this change bothers you that much, than just run it with your Guild.
…Huh?
No I agree with you dude. I’m talking about the change to the dungeon ownership system. It’s a good change because a lot of the time people don’t understand or notice that they’re the dungeon owner, and they leave earlier than everyone else has their loot. The negative ramifications of the change (people stealing sold runs) are vastly outweighed by the positive (people don’t get screwed by an owner leaving).
I think that at worst, it will be a neutral change.
For every malevolent player out there, there are half a dozen who do not understand, do not care, or don’t pay attention to dungeon ownership.
I’m honestly kinda disappointed in this feature pack so far. It doesn’t seem anywhere as meaty as the previous feature pack.
I mean, the things we’re getting are nice, but… They’re not new traits and they’re not the Wardrobe.
Doesn’t make sense. Not holistic with other classes (their class abilities don’t go on CD when you use them, other than GCDs).
If anything is truly necessary, a universal burst cooldown would be the fix… But that already exists. That’s what Adrenaline is supposed to be.
I’m kinda ehhhh
The recharge time means that this trait won’t really feel very good. You won’t know when it’s on or off cooldown, you’re constantly generating Adrenaline… It’ll feel awkward.
But you can’t remove the cooldown, because if you do that, then it becomes insanely powerful with faster weapons and traits that boost your Adrenaline regen massively.
It also double dips with Cleansing Ire.
I think Tornado will be much much better with the new Lightning Rod. Wondering whether it works against targets with Stability, though.
I am confused by how the game decides who gets the boss. Is it the final hit?
Yes. Last hitter gets the rewards.
If you’re not certain that you can last hit or prevent everyone else from last hitting, don’t do the boss.
Brahm is an accurate representation of Norn, “hit first, ask questions later” as it’s been put. He is also young, putting a less intelligent swing into some things he says. I think of some of the things I said as a teenager and am absolutely embarrassed this day. He reminds me of that phase of my life a lot.
He’s the only male who’s actually in the story. Canach is slated to have more screentime, so that’s nice, but…
The only males we are frequently exposed to are:
A blockhead
A psychopath
completely fair representation of males!
Y’know what bothers me about the living story?
We had maybe a dozen characters introduced in season one which have simply fallen off the radar. We have an entire destroyed city which is still not having anything change in it.
It’s not a living world. It’s one living zone and the rest of the world is trapped in stasis, including the plot threads left dangling at the end of S1. It’s been 4 months since scarlet attacks and the bridges around LA are still not even worthy for basic travel. Come on. Come onnnn.
To play the devils advocate, protect me lasts 33% longer than endure pain (untraited, that is)
I would warn against overbuffing rangers to warrior levels when they’re already nerfing warriors in the first place….
Surely that’s irrelevant; A shorter duration just means that they’ll be prevented from contesting the point for that much less. Contest prevention balances itself that way quite nicely.
I would love to see simple rotation requests as an option. “Rotate to home from spawn” and “Rotate mid from home” would be great, and so would"Hold" and “on my way to A, B, C”
Probably no more than 8 options would really be needed but simple stuff to make communication easier would be cool.
For suggestions like these. What happens if the new game mode has no capture points? Do those options just get replaced with other things?
We have capture points but we also have other objectives which aren’t defined as such. For example, on Khylo, we have the two trebuchets; we’d want to be able to communicate using those points of interest as well.
The system’d need to be able to communicate on more than just the three capture points, so I think if we had ‘areas’ defined, we’d probably also be able to communicate on them? idk, i only just got up, idk if this makes sense
I have to agree with a bunch of other people; the company policy feels really really restrictive. I can understand having that to some degree, but I think that it’s too restrictive.
I keep seeing people say venoms were buffed. Did I miss something?
Nope. You’re completely right.
It’s not so much a buff as it is a ‘correction’; the venomshare mechanic works as (in my opinion) it always should have.
Freezing only score and position can give players some tactic to abuse it.
The only good freeze is a complete freeze, so people can’t complain.
Make it a custom arena only feature, if it’s that much of a problem.
Just wondering… anyone else got alarm bells ringing in his head, while reading this part?:
We’re excited to announce that the next World vs. World tournament is starting on September 12, the Friday after our September 2014 Feature Pack launches! We’d also like to welcome our Chinese players to experience their first WvW tournament! We’ve got some exciting changes in store for the World vs. World Fall Tournament 2014, so let’s get to it!
What’s New?Tournament Duration
Our next tournament will be an extremely intense, exciting four-week-long tournament battle.
They’re so excited
And they just can’t hide it
They’re about to lose control and they think they like it
It should be a way to increase dps, but currently it is just silly. Either the people you are playing are good and you get stab striped then cced to death or you faceroll. They should balance it by lowering the damage and cast time of the auto and make 2 and 4 better. It would be sweet if 4 summoned 2 flesh golems for 15 seconds instead of 8 useless rats.
it only summons 5 useless rats
lazy food for thought for everyone; what if lich form got cannibalised and 2-5 became new elites
I can’t even remember what the thief changes are. The only three I remember are the changes to Flanking Strike, the change to Ricochet, and the change to Venomshare which makes its scaling actually make sense.
I don’t want to sound like too much of a negative nancy, but aren’t thieves already quite good?… It feels like only a few days ago people were saying “thief apex predator, not worth running any other roamer”.
Don’t get your hopes up. Lich will be touched. Mostly in the “drop wells and then pop lich for humongous wondrous damage” area
PS. What is a Lekittenhese.
I think it’s a combination of “lesh” and “these”.
alternatively, a lebanese juveline feline
A steady, short-cooldown Elite that you’re not afraid to use from fight to fight would, I think, be nice for every class to have. Stuff like Signet of Rage and Flesh Golem.
I dunno about anyone else, it may just be me, but sometimes when I’m picking up a new class I can go ‘well all of these are junk’. Like with an ele; FGS is good but kind of esoteric, Glyph of Elementals is there but it’s kind of a boring FaF (though that’s slated to change) with a long CD, and Tornado is right out.
Maybe I’m just not very good? idk
a 1200 range Flamethrower kit
I think that Mortar should become a kit and take Grenade Kit’s jerb (as long range) and be a big cannon that you lug around and shoot at people. Mostly to spite grenades. why can you throw grenades further than every gun in the game
You’ll need to use some basic strategies which everybody else has to use in order to ensure your big-hitting abilities land!
These include
Baiting dodges
Immobilising or stunning your enemy
Not playing in an obvious fashion, or ‘juking’ your enemy
Making sure you’re not blinded, or about to get blinded before using your abilities
Enjoy dealing with the same mechanics as the rest of us peasants!
Quite happy about the signet changes. 00626 was already a fairly effective build, in my experience, so flat buffs to all three utilities certainly won’t go to waste. Reducing the stunbreak’s CD does quite a bit.
It’ll be a few more hours before I get a chance to watch the Ready-Up video; I’m hoping someone who has seen it can satisfy my curiosity before then. Are they just talking about a nerf to just the FGS fire trail, or would it affect Burning Speed/Burning Retreat as well? Or were they too vague to be certain?
Thanks!
They did nerf these two effects, yes. You will no longer be able to stack the trails atop one another.
If you find it trivial you don’t have any problem with the fact that this could be fixed. This would not change a lot of things and would be a life aid
If it does not change a lot of things, why bother? It’s potentially a change with a lot of fallout which doesn’t have much benefit.
I think that WvW has strengths in both directions.
You can be something really bursty and instagib people
You can be a Dire Thief and last forever
How do you close this range?
nerf food
While it doesn’t make sense, it’s relatively trivial. There are very few abilities that track and which deal enough damage to be meaningful.
I have no issue with farming; it’s how things get acquired in MMOs. But failing a task repeatedly should never be more rewarding than completing it, and is the issue that Anet needs to address. These farm trains should be hyped up to finish an event chain and get back to the start, not fail a single part of it over and over. That’s just bad design.
I think the problem with that particular position in this chain- the one that people are repeatedly failing- is that completing the capture completes the event.
Should be changed so that completing the capture does not complete the event; you have to take the position and then hold it for the timer. That way you still get billions of dudes to kill.
You have to get every weekly done? I’m a little bit miffed at that. It seems as though this would be a good place to give people leeway; 3 of 4 weeklies done should be enough to be eligible for the title.
Also, need to pick up the rewards in the week immediately after? That sounds somewhat shoddy. I’m guessing this is because of a time restraint rather than being an actual design decision, but if this tournament structure is taken well, I hope there’s a better solution in the pipe.
I also really like the sheer amount of rewards that you get for completing the weekly. Players on the bottom end of last tournament didn’t get very much; I think they got more from the bugfix mailsend than they did from actually finishing their meta. If you get your weeklies done, you’re practically assured 400 tokens.
I have to honestly say… Why not have this system all the time? Badges of Honor are a lot like Guild Influence; you get lots of it and it doesn’t matter. A second currency, akin to Guild Merits, which you get as a component of a weekly achievement block would be really neat and could go far to increasing the rewards you get from WvW.
My only issue is the rewards (which Anet continues yet again to balance properly)
Why are they offering stuff that is available outside of WvW and can be acquired at a non-fixed rate? I’m talking about all the ascended materials, obby shards and karma.
Who in their right mind would spend these valuable tickets on items such as that?
At least you can get these items. I’d much rather the opportunity than not.
(edited by Sarrs.4831)
How to fix blix farm:
Change the event restart time from 1 minute after chain failure to 20 minutes after chain faiulre
me am best game
Here an example for you to think about:
If you destroy an ant nest, the remaining ants will build a new one.
Think about it.
Though a candle burns in my living room, there is noone home.
Meanwhile, the VS thief also gets 10 stacks of might over this duration for a period of time, and can use TotC for party-wide might, fury, and swiftness on engage.
If you’re sharing those venoms, I’m fairly sure your buddies get those might stacks as well?
Does it really matter what info is released first? One thing about these forums is it will never be pleased. If Anet decided to throw out necro changes this week people will still whine and cry how something wasn’t buffed or they deserve more than that, or changes aren’t going to do nothing GG, Or all the changes are useless to individual belief. So does it really matter at all when changes are going to be previewed? You’ll get the preview eventually so please be patient necro players instead of preaching and spewing out comments like “How can you live with yourself Anet?” “Anet doesn’t care about necros and only care about X class more.”
It definitely does matter what info is released first, because we can discuss contentious changes and possibly point out obvious flaws in ANet’s plans.
A lazy example; there have been a huge number of posts about how Adrenaline is being changed, in how it operates on failed attacks and how it operates out of combat, all of which is valuable discussion.
What if Necromancers get a fundamental change to life force, on the level that Warriors are getting, and we only get 4 days to tell them it’s a horrible idea? If ANet has a decent patching procedure, the patch is sitting on their servers waiting to launch- such a change would be impossible to change in time for release. And then… We’re stuck, for 5 months, with a broken Life Force system, because ANet only makes balance changes with every feature patch.
While it is important to vocalise concerns, this is an excellent place to vote with your wallet. If you don’t buy the stuff, they won’t make it.
I kinda want to go MM with the downed trait just so you get the explosion from Death Nova, your minions, extra downed damage, etc etc. Just to see how high those numbers can go.
To put this in perspective, if they don’t clump them together, the last two professions to be covered will be done on September 5th, giving us just 4 days to give feedback and for them to respond. That just isn’t enough time.
Assuming that this is because the last classes had the least contentious changes, it would imply that Guardians and Necromancers are the closest to the balancing point that ANet wants them to be at.
So uh. Make of that what you will, I guess.
To be fair, though, guardians are in a good place
Have to say it’s entirely hilarious how people continue to claim this game is at all casual when it’s nowhere near. Wildstar is more casual than GW2 at this point.
Casual is having housing, huge wardrobe (we’re talking a wardrobe now not a transmog knockoff), minigames like farming/fishing, mounts, pet taming to become mounts, etc etc….
So to people who keep misusing the casual term….I’ll just leave this here…
Casual has several definitions. To assert that people keep misusing the term is kind of silly. Casual means different things to different people.
okay so there is one argument for adding mounts that will actually appeal to anet
moneys
it would cost anet quite a bit of moneys, and it is not clear how many moneys that would get in return for doing it
on the other hand, adding outfits, armor sets and finishers costs less moneys because they already have the tools to make them, and they know how many moneys they would make from it
so either spend a lot of money and not know how much you’ll make back, or spend less money and know how much you’ll make back
oh yeah and it’s also likely to become a hugely neglected system that never gets anything added to it, and neglected systems which are basically dead weight are never good
Couple that with that MMOs never have quite perfect balance, and you cannot ever have true build diversity while traits have such a large influence on the char.
I think traits can work; there just needs to be a genuine reason to want every GM trait, and a way to get there without sacrificing your fundamentals.
Some of them, though, are just utterly hilarious. Lookin’ at you, Kindled Zeal. You’ve got a bigger, better trait in the exact same place.
Genuinely surprised that this wasn’t intended design. :o
Three problems.
1. Tools missing.
One of veewee’s posts lately said that the game still doesn’t have a pause feature. It still doesn’t have that. It’s kinda sucky. ESPAWTS umpires need tools, and arenas need those tools to sometimes happen automatically.
2. Infrequent balance.
Big blobs of balance changes every 6 months is not good enough. A high tempo of shaves fortnightly or monthly keeps the meta from getting stale.
3. Infrequent expansions.
The game has not had a team queue suitable map added since 2012. Twenty. Kittening. Twelve.
Since release, there has been the addition of one healing skill and five traits for each class. Otherwise, only one ability has been added, which is Tainted Shackles. In the meantime, compare it to Big Fatty WoW; a game with an incredibly slow patch cycle is now working up to releasing a new expac.
(edited by Sarrs.4831)
I don’t believe the longbow will be particularly overblown, as I think there’ll be a viable alternative to Cleansing Ire in Brawler’s Recovery.
if his characters were all leveled through crafting, then it doesn’t really matter what level the characters are, does it? he hasn’t actually played the character.
Lol, yeah, that’s true. The only authority he has is on how to balance tradeskills. :p
Inb4 person with 40x lvl 80s posts. Classes sometimes don’t play identically on different races after all – a certain charr skill is required for my current warrior build. ;-)
Guardian Human with Avatar of Melandru and the trait that applies Vuln when you apply Immob.
Pop Melly, pop roots, constantly applying Immob to all targets, perma 25 stack vuln!
Same with Sylvari utility roots!
he blacked out his number code, but you can just look at the actual post to get that
this is gold
Those characters are not real lowbies…they just are not geared as its expensive to gear all 8 toons.
I have spent all my gold buying mats to level all the crafting professions to 400.
In fact most of these toons are 60s
OBJECTION
You claim to have level 60s, yet most of your characters are wearing armor in the 1-20 range. You claim to have spent all of your money on levelling crafting… Therefore, you would have very few transmutation stones, meaning that this armor is real!
Therefore… You are clearly either wearing armor that is over fifty levels out of date, or you are lying!
(edited by Sarrs.4831)
then pay attention?
let’s use EVIL INTERNET SORCERY to move the emphasis to where it was supposed to be
>bigger role
>if you stop paying attention for half a second, half of the classes in the game can instagib you
If you stop paying attention for half a second anywhere else, do you have a real chance of being instantly killed?
The problem isn’t “you’re not paying attention, you’re a bad”- you definitely should be paying attention and the more attention you pay, the better off you’ll be. The problem is that not paying attention in these areas of the map has more negative feedback than anywhere else in the game.
(edited by Sarrs.4831)
If you have failed at the core part of design it is much more cost effective to start from the beginning, not to try to fix what is broken.
except it’s actually a well designed map, but people just can’t stand the fact that CC plays a bigger role in it, so they have to “fix it” by diminishing its importance.
>bigger role
>if you stop paying attention for half a second, half of the classes in the game can instagib you
i think you’re understating the situation a little
