Buying a wrong armor from karma vendors

Getting a serious case of deja vu on this post… Is this the exact wording of that other recent post complaining about this?
- Bestiary (i.e. Orrian Bestiary, Maguuma Bestiary)
- Events
- Explorer (i.e. Jumping Puzzles, Vistas, PoI)
This made me think of an achievements book where artwork of each goal would appear for its achievement, finishing in a full digital artbook of GW2’s Bestiary, JPs, etc.
Love at first thought.
Pretty sure Ascended armor/weapons won’t cost Laurels. They’re already being over-required and Anet will know not to add more “necessary” gear using them.
Another grindy/long-term way of obtaining them? Likely. Then again, if you can’t enjoy a game without having max stats immediately after resuming it, you’re too spoiled to enjoy GW2 (or any game, really).
“OH GODS IS THAT CAT STANDING ON TWO LEGS WITH HORNS AND DOUBLE ANTELOPE EARS GET IT AWAY FROM ME!”
They said they aren’t releasing any expansions this year. Of course there’ll be expansions later, just not in 2013.
And that is very good news.
The game does indeed feel unfinished. Not much to work towards in the endgame, and what there is, is often generally aimless and/or can be achieved in a fraction of the time spent somewhere else (PvP rewards, anyone?). UI issues, balance issues, etc. also hint heavily at forced release.
However, they’re working on it, likely denying expansions this year so they can finish vanilla GW2. They’re adding to WvW this month. They’re adding to PvE. I’ll quit the game if they don’t cough up fixes to broken classes and better rewards where it’s seriously lacking like in PvP, but then, I’m quite certain those issues will be fixed long before then.
You aren’t being forced to pay for the game. If you’re so disgusted, wait a few months and come back. Things should only get better.
EDIT: Also, as someone who put thousands of hours into WoW through its first three expansions, I can tell you it started feeling off during its second and went to complete crap in its third. I wouldn’t play it if it was subscription-free as it is. You should know better than to think Blizzard doesn’t pocket the extra 180$ (that’s three GW2s) a year that they make off every customer.

URGE TO KILL RISING
URGE TO KILL RISING
URGE TO KILL RISING
URGE TO KILL RISING
URGE TO KILL RISING
Layered and overlapping over the entire surface of the shirt.
I thought this was a funny topic with hilarious pics, instead it’s just another “OMG I got killed, nerf that, nerf this, QQ” thread. I was even about to post some funny pics.. /sad
Of course not. This is serious business.
That loot bag could have changed my life. We could have been happy…
Back at launch, I’d always pick up the runestone and run back to the spider room, let him do his little lap, kill the girl and run out of the cave.
Then I’d follow him out and watch the carnage. Good times.
Good to know m16.
The problem was that the damage threshold was much higher for loot credit than it was for XP (mostly when many players were involved), which wasn’t intended at all. That resulted in a lot of mobs (especially Champions and higher) rewarding XP without giving any loot, which from Champs is a guaranteed blue or better lost from every kill.
They fixed a bug that mostly affected big events. Given that WvW often plays out like one gigantic, constant event, the biggest improvements will be there when people can get a loot bag every time they get kill-experience.
Sorrow’s Furnace has solid coverage for all but one time slot: early, early morning.
The server’s close to leaving its Glicko-induced hell. Thing is, ET puts out a sizable zerg every night in the wee hours after everyone’s gone to bed and flips the map from green to blue.
We need all the overkill we can get to rack up enough of a points difference to win a broken system, and that means enough people on to give ET more than NPCs and unmanned defenses to fight in those precious few hours.
Even if we manage to pull out of the rut without filling the gap, having a hole in our defenses will be devastating in higher tiers.
Any new blood to SF is lovely, but if your time zone fits and you like WvW, our undermanned nightside could really use the help. I didn’t originally start on the server, but it’s hit the perfect balance of being populated enough for events and the like without overflows and queues everywhere. Met some nice people, too.
P.S.
We have Based Quag.
wait wrong forum oops
Loot bags are OP and need to be nerfed.
They do massive damage to my emotions. It just ain’t fair.
I’m tired of being bullied by SF and ET we lose every week and every time we attack something we normally fail. They outnumber us greatly and we always have the outnumbered boon but it gives no help what so ever
ET doesn’t outnumber FC as bad as SF does… I’m sure SF can outnumber ET+FC.
Also until 2 weeks ago your server was better than ET. The only real problem at T8 is SF.^ SF has the WvW numbers to cover all the maps lol..
Actually, we don’t always have two active zergs in prime time. Often just one, occasionally none. Almost never three. That kind of activity is reserved for resets, and it’s not just us.
@ Scumbag Mawile
Those voice actors did a good job, considering all their lines. Using the same voice actors gave a sense of dialect and familiarity. Not to mention, it was financially a good decision.
r u tryna bamboozle me m8
No, seriously. I really hope you’re baiting. Reusing the same lines and voice actors over and over is in no way immersive. After hearing the same bland statement for the sixtieth time, all it is is grating.
Grating isn’t good for keeping you involved. Annoyance with the game itself means you’re actively thinking about it as a game. That kills immersion, hard.
- Mundane and Generic NPCs
Why are there so many generic NPCs that have generic dialogue? Why do DE and quest NPCs say their generic lines when I try to loot around them. Why are they trying to talk to me as I loot? There are enemies around! Those NPCs shouldn’t be having a conversation with me!
Okay, hold on just a minute here.
You’re comparing GW2 to Skyrim, right?
Did we play the same Skyrim? Because the Skyrim I played sounded like they used a cast of 12 random people to voice an entire game. I hear the same lines and voices coming out of ‘different’ people all over Skyrim. GW2 suffers exactly the same, except since GW2’s cast of important-to-some-story-or-other list is bigger than the number of unique voices done for Skyrim’s plot, GW2 has wider variety there.
Now considering Skryim’s NPCs need to be much more immersive than GW2’s (because seriously, nobody expects single-player immersion levels from an MMO, and rightly so), this really stuck out as an incredibly lazy blemish on Skyrim’s believability.

Had to empty my 80-slot inventory five times tonight.
Ferg put up much more of a fight than I usually get to see. Even wiped a zerg a couple times. Fun evenin’.
Yo Anet? Kindly slice FC in half and give SF and ET a slice each. kthx
Based Quag bless the newly-forged servers of Eredon Crossing and Ferguson’s Furnace.
I don’t see any Jormag.
Is it behind that Claw?
Seems like the response is that because Rangers have access to a lot of dodges if properly equipped and can possibly manage their pets expertly enough to keep them alive and pounding, buffing rangers is a no-go because skilled players would be OP.
Yeah, makes sense. Especially since a Thief who doesn’t know any more than what move hits hardest can down someone in seconds.
How about an expert Thief? Being skilled with a class that gets permanent invisibility isn’t OP? How about Mesmers, even without culling? A bad Mesmer is still harder to take down than a bad Ranger.
In fact, Rangers are simple to take down unless they’re playing skilled and tactically.
The only place Rangers can excel is if a highly talented player is dueling. Literally their only option is to play conservatively. And then between your constant dodges and lack of DPS, by the time you’d have finished the okayish Elementalist you were fighting you’d have three of their buddies on your kitten
So this is it, then? No dungeon buffs because obviously everyone values the Ranger’s solo survivability and will take them for their complete lack of support and shoddy damage. An experienced player might even get too good at dungeons! That’d be like if Warriors could suddenly speed run CoF like… oh right.
Being a good Ranger is being pigeonholed into playing a low-damage survivalist (and a kitten good one at that if you plan to win anything). How many other classes are forced into a single option? Necros and condition damage? At least they can take someone down before their guild toddles along and cleans house.
tl;dr: The reasoning that ‘a very skilled Ranger is viable’ doesn’t work when your classes are designed to be viable for casual players, not just pros…. /especially/ if you’re forced into a playstyle that’s bad for cooperative play. You don’t have to be talented to do well with other classes; why is it OP if Rangers can be played successfully by less competitive players?

It was a time of plenty. Pretty sure I racked up four BL salvage kits before hitting lv20.
Too bad I had no idea of their value and used them all to get guaranteed minor runes out of greens.
GW2 took a while to grow on me, but I can already feel the nostalgia stabbing in roots.
I’m actually a bit sad there’s next to nothing in way of merch. I love me some t-shirts and plushies.
I missed the hardcore JP?
vadernooo.mov
If there’s one thing I want more of/better rewards for (for increased difficulty, of course), it’s jumping puzzles. I kittening LOVE jumping puzzles. LOVE.
okay sure
though another (on average) half-dozen active players at night for us would make a tremendous difference
pretty sure i can’t say the same for ET’s in prime time
holy crap all dem carts
i had to leave just after they spammed guardian-walls across the stairs and aimed the carts at ’em
I put up a bounty at FC BL.
Promising 1 gold to anyone that kills a vendor at ET spawn.
This was the result.
I said nightcapping. Not nightfighting.
If we had defense, it wouldn’t be nightcapping. Or at least, there’d at least be some kind of effort to keep what we had.
Upgrades are only worth getting if they extend your hold. A reinforced gate only takes longer to get through if nobody’s defending. Cannons and mortars are worthless without people manning them.
We’re the superior server. It’s reasonable to think we shouldn’t have nobody defending upgraded borderlands structures.
You seem to be moaning like I’m insinuating they shouldn’t be being attacked? You have a night crew, of course you’re going to attack them.
For such an ‘overpopulated’ server, however, it’s a tad bit shoddy that we don’t have anyone on to defend against those attacks.
This a little easier to understand, hun?
O.o We aren’t kittening.
sure looks like it. look, no offense, but i just read today someone griping about losing money to upgraded items getting taken, and the tone (unless i was reading it very wrong) was totally coming off as “oh woe is us, we blow all this gold and it’s just a waste”.
THAT is what prompted my response. i’m not grumpy you’re still here with us. while i’m sure we’d BOTH like to go our respective ways by now, the fact that someone is now complaining about something that’s been a fact of life for us for months now is just… LOL. seriously, guys… it’s embarrassing.
Complaining about a friend wasting 15g upgrading an entire BL when none of it had been claimed by her guild and none of it was defended for even a couple hours is pathetic?
You’re right. I’m so embarrassed. GG katz you whooped me real good.
It was 25-30 the time I tried staying up and defending against it.
Considering we have usually have half a dozen off on defending, it might as well be an unstoppable war machine.
Not having a night crew doesn’t mean we’re losing.
We’ve been winning by a landslide for ages now. We just need to win by even more of a landslide to get out of this crappy scoring system.
Maybe then you’ll get matched with someone you have a shot of scoring on and rank up yourselves.
As it stands, there is really nothing to match ET’s massive early-morning AM zerg.
SF could really, really use a night watch.
tl;dr version: SF could really use some Aussies-or-similar-timezones/night owls so ET can’t avoid us at prime time and mess us up in our vulnerable hours. Going to be an absolute do-or-die requirement once we finally dredge ourselves up out of 8th tier anyway.
Any takers? I’ll make you muffins~~
We have a lot of prominent WvW guilds, some with hundreds of members (cosa has 700+).
If they want to spam their emblems on a place instead of letting another guild, they should be paying for the upgrades. It’s logic. They are WvW-only guilds, they have funds specifically for WvW, which means upgrades and BPs.
There is no arguing this, it just makes sense. Claiming means they’re claiming the structure as theirs and their responsibility. It’s why the feature is there. I’m going to assume they fought for it, they upgraded it, they defended it. Claiming just to have your emblem on it (and no, I can’t recall getting buffs from any structure other than SM a couple of times) and then abandoning it is the mark of a kittenty guild.
Guild claiming puts their emblem up on the giant banners of a fortress. Yes, if you’re going to advertise yourself like that, you better kittening pay up yourself. I guess some ‘trolls’ (because being obviously inflammatory isn’t nearly subtle enough to be called trolling) believe random WvWers running around should upgrade out of their own pockets, rather than the guilds advertising and chestbeating from those some keeps.
And actually, I think it’s a fair complaint that we get no opposition steamrolling every map in the evening and you wait until SF’s sleeping before you bother come out and fight NPCs and gates.
You do realize SF isn’t a pile of overwhelming numbers, right? We took those maps with under 30 people. I’ve seen ET zergs that big in the AM hours. We’re supposed to be on similar time zones, so why do you only come out to play when there’s no risk of fighting a force that isn’t a quarter of your size?
Pretty sure the people on your server fighting us in prime time are just a tad POed about it.
Ugh. All that ET nightcapping.
I know the one who spent a ton of gold running around upgrading the entire SF BL by herself when none of the structures were even claimed by her guild (good job to all the lazy kitten idiots with guild funds who never did).
By 4AM or so she had to go, and I left shortly after. Felt really bad, because that left two others on the map, and I just knew ET would cancel out every upgrade she spent hours-worth of money on uncontested.
If SF had any kind of night crew we’d actually have a reason to upgrade anything. But no, the best we can ever manage is 6-7 in EB to defend SM overnight while we our entire ghost town of a BL turns blue.
astralier y r u no help uz
A zerg of 20ish plowed through both gates in under ten minutes.
My point was that there was nobody there, not that it took any skill. It was ridiculously easy. Hell, the left keep’s gate was open when we got there.
I think they all drowned.
Ferg’s garrison went down without a peep.
Bravo to TIAA from ET for just waiting as a group in the Jumping Puzzle and jumping anyone from SF but letting FC go.
I’d get sphincter speared about it, but…
GW2 is the most beautiful and explorable game I’ve ever played. Anyone else really curious about/looking forward to some of these ground-covering missions?
And no, this isn’t the ‘i can’t because anet hates small guilds!!!!!’ thread.
Guardians? Lacking Swiftness?
I can keep near-constant Swiftness while traveling between ‘Retreat!’ and ‘Save yourselves!’
so what it’s saying is
i’ll get to spend more time with enemies that say ‘Diggy!’
10/10 GotY
I’ve noticed a constant lack of commanders/really any cohesive force in SF since the weekend.
Hasn’t been fun.
Awh, poor OP. Your incredibly entertaining laggy, chaotic world events being ruined by boring old humor in the map chat.
I started doing this years ago on a WoW server with ‘Murloc’ in /2. This is perfect.

Such an outdated score post… Here is some actual points.
PS: Oh look, we’re outmanned!
Are the rest still back finishing off Ferg in their BL?
I saw clicking and closed out..
I read this comment and wrote you off as worthless.
Using a ranger for bursting people down is like fighting vets naked.
Barely set foot in WvW before I had it done.
Gotta love that steamroll.
