Class balance in PvP, IMO (over 3000 matches, PvP Rank 47): Warriors are on top, Elemantilists are on the bottom, and pretty much every other profession is somewhere in-between. NOW, that is a really massive generalization, as a full balance profession-by-profession bullet list would take up too much time
Being able to handle yourself in a 1v1 is something you can do as a warrior. Try out a Warrior first, but make sure to give all the professions a try as well as time goes on, you might be surprised what sticks.

I think a lot of what Dimglow.5489 is spot on. PvE players and WvWvW players need to be able to enter PvP with:
1) a select amount of skins from their PvE gear.
2) the same amulet/ring/accessory setup, AKA bring more diversity stat-wise to PvP so people don’t have to re-create builds that fall short of the original.
PLEASE only give good rewards for people who win tournament matches, hotjoins do not need any rewards (they will be brainlessly farmed) and the losing side of a tourney should not get as good rewards as the winning side(or they will be afk farmed).
What rewards would I like to see?
1) Glory should be rewarded to both the winning and losing team (more to the winning, not in hotjoins), and should be spendable on any weapon/armor skin I want, at an appropriate price, and that skin should be transferable to PvE / WvW.
2) The winners of tournament matches (remember, not in hotjoins, and not losers) should get Gems or gold, and at a rate that rivals PvE farming (a minimum of 2 gold an hour, since some PvE farmers can get almost 6 gold an hour!).

I regret if it came across that way. I was trying to include as many possible side-issues, alternatives, etc. that I could think of to spark more discussion.
We really do value your opinions and find the ideas discussed here useful.
For example, just last week I’ve spent some time trying to figure out how easy/difficult it would be to pull in users from the yolo queue to fill in the missing spots., which was not part of the original technical design.
I know someone here will probably think less of me for admitting that oversight, but I think it’s more important to show that we take you seriously.
As a computer programmer of 8+ years, I know oversights happen, heck, I am dealing with one where I work as I type!

The Good:
- Tooltips
- Tab Targeting changes
The Bad:
- Immobilize stacking, now you can just spam immobilize and it ‘works’, no need to time it with exisiting immobs on target, making the game even less skill based!
- AOE spam, Condition spam, and CC spam still dominate the sPvP meta, not fun
- Passive play is still too effective (healing signet, spirit rangers, etc).
The Missing:
- New PvP modes (deathmatch especially).
- Revamped PvP reward system to get more people trying out PvP or returning.

Go Warrior and Guardian. Alone these are the 2 fastest classes to level. Together they form the backbone for all content in this game from PvE to PvP. Both classes can spec into healing builds and be nearly unkillable and still produce a surprising amount of damage in both PvE and PvP. Both classes can go all burst and deal insane damage very quickly while still being surprisingly tanky. Both classes have a large number of weapon options that are viable and while some may be better for different scenarios, nearly every weapon for each class has its use. The only drawback I see to this combo is the Guardian’s ranged option isn’t strong for real damage on moving targets, but the utility it provides is good and PvE targets don’t tend to move.
I honestly can’t think of a single drawback to playing a Warrior/Guardian pair.
+1, Warrior and Guardian are very solid in PvE, I have both at level 80, both are fun

Immobilize does not seem to follow the standard ‘first in’ / ‘last out’ rules that all other conditions get. This makes Immobilize nearly impossible to remove via condition clearing, as it can be ‘masked’ with other conditions.

1) Start balancing more often (4 months is too long).
2) Redesign/vastly improve PvP rewards.
3) New modes for PvP, deathmatch especially wanted.
4) In a near living story update, open up the Tengu territory AND make Tengu a playable race. In general, open more territory on the map as the months go on, want more explore-able territory!
5) Rework condition cap; in PvE it should be more for legendary and boss encounters, in PvP it should be less so people are not spamming conditions.

Long story short:
There are more instances (fractals)
Some revamped old dungeons.
New open world encounters.
New gear and new ways of getting it.Warrior is a fun class, especially if you like melee. (while we still have ranged options), the melee array of weapons we have at our disposal is quite vast.
Some more some less viable but hey!Also we have a good choice between condi and power build.
The class is not underpowered by any means.Okay, and do you think comming back to GW2 is worth it? I fell like ill just put in more hours just to get bored and try and find a new mmo.
Since the game has no monthly fee, might as well peek in and give it a shot. As for warriors, they are great in all 3 game modes, PvE, PvP, and WvWvW, so definitely try one out

A good way to deal with warriors is get good at Mesmer and Thief, as both professions have access to builds that counter warriors.
Another thing to do, and you might have already done this, is play 50+ matches with warrior to get a feel for how they work, and even try out multiple builds (Hammer/Lbow, MaceShield/GSword, Shouts Bunkers, etc).
As a side note, and once again you probably know this, the more you play every profession, the more opportunity you have to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of that profession.

I will keep playing PvP even if the patch fails to shake up the meta in a positive manner.
One thing to note though, I only play roughly an hour day as is, be it PvE, PvP, or even WvW, and I still enjoy the game, over a year playing

Warriors still die if you focus-pressure them. Now they just don’t immediately explode like an air balloon anymore – you have to work at it a bit.
Balanced. Needs sigil of paralyzation fix, quick breathing fix – that’s all.
Gonna have to agree with Zone on this one, just look at the recent tournament, Warriors are in a good spot.
Fixing bugs (Sig. of Par as an example) will bring certain warrior builds down a smidge, while not shoving the class back into the dark ages of uselessness…

Why are so many people on this forum obsessed with making the game “harder”?
I’m all for challenging but when you’re replacing content we have now with new “harder” content that’s where we’re gonna have a problem.
P.S. I think the new TA path is the first piece of real challenging content we’ve had since release.
From my understanding, Gambits do not ‘replace’ anything, they are optional for people who want a little more challenge from a dungeon. Makes sense, if you run something too many times it gets predictable and easy, so you want to up the ante!

They went to a different direction because the resources was shifted to support the game mode that actually made guild wars 1 successful which was PvE.

Honestly, I just stopped playing until a proper balance patch hits and you get decent rewards for PvP, never mind the lag. Hopefully before the end of 2013 things will be in a better state, until then, just chill out and try other games, no monthly fee

Please don’t remove Hotjoins.
They are great for PvPers who have real life distractions that might take them away from PvP at a moments notice and do not want to kitten off people in Ranked Solo when they need to go AFK for a minute.

I think a good possible solution:
1) Fix Sigil of Parlyzation (already on ANets list).
2) Mix Skull Crack up a bit, make it stun for 1/1.5/2, but to compensate have it apply something like 4/5/6 stacks of vulnerability. AKA, the general idea, nerf the stun duration, but give it something to compensate (not necessarily vulnerability, just an idea).Mace inst OVERPOWERED. Get ur hands away from it. If u want a nerf i suggest to look in 100b.
I dont want to nerf mace, I want to nerf the stun on Mace Burst and give it something else, hopefully making the weapon just as powerful as it is now, but less cheesy

I have a level 80 Warrior and 80 Guardian, and I have over 500 games with each in PvP.
They are both fun professions, but IMO the warrior can do much more offensively, whereas the Guardian can bunker/support a group much better.
